  1. Thanks! We updated only the grass one. Do you believe the other ones need some redesigning as well? MORE INFO ABOUT THE TRAINER CLASS FEATURE (If you haven't checked the first post about this feature, please check it before this one) I would like you to give me your opinion about this feature. If you have any questions about it, please ask. Me and Swamp King would gladly respond!
  2. I've got another idea! How about solrock and lunatone being guardians? I think they fit well with the new legendaries, Solgaleo and Lunala. I was thinking Solrock could be Steel and Fire while Lunatone Ghost and Flying. abilities: Solrock-> Drought, Lunatone-> Shadow Shield lore: Solrock: During the war, its habitat was turned into a sea of searing flames. Solgaleo found it almost dead and blessed it. It enforced its broken parts with steel and breathed fire in it to help it live. From that point on, Solrock promised that it would fight fire with fire to protect other pokemon from the tragedy it once lived through. Lunatone: Like Solrock, its habitat was destroyed. Lunatone itself was almost killed. While its spirit was leaving its body Lunala appeared. But it was too late... Body and spirit were completely separated. So Lunala turned it into a ghost to haunt its own body. Lunatone promised to return the favor by protecting all other pokemon.
  3. Will there be a guardian pokemon for every single legendary? If no, how many do you plan to add to Empire?
  4. I used to not like Primarina myself. In fact, the only starter I liked at first was Decidueye. But then I came across this masterpiece: now I like both of them a lot
  5. Glad you liked it! And you guessed right, these 3 are the starters. Now, to answer your question, here is some info about them. caleaf: (cub + leaf... I know it should have been culeaf but we turned it to caleaf because it sounded better) It's based off of a bear. Its big ears were developed so as to keep track of every single sound on its surroundings. It can blend really well with its environment avoiding any danger. penguson: (penguin + son) It's based off of a penguin. It's dream is to fly one day. It is said that the bigger its beak, the more respected it is from its kind. I won't give any details about the tail because it will spoil some things bebember: (baby + ember) It's based off of a fire dragon. It's generally a lazy pokemon that loves loafing around. When it gets angry though, the temperature of its body rises a lot reaching really high levels!
  6. Can we select ghost pokemon as well? If so, I would love to see a guardian Golurk. As I imagine it, it would be a rock and fighting pokemon. if I get the concept right, the guardians are guarding something, right? If so, to me there is no more fitting pokemon to be a guardian than golurk! A rock giant guarding something, whether it's a treasure or something else, is regularly seen in fairytales. I hope it fits with the concept... Anyway, I am looking forward to see more about the guardians! You have done a good job till now on the sprites. Keep it up!
  7. It looks great up till now! The new screenshots got me even more hyped! Keep it up
  8. Thanks guys for the feedback! Now that you mention, I do believe that they need to be more colorful. We will work things out with Swamp King. Practice makes perfect
  9. Thanks for the support guys We really appreciate it! We will try to post here regularly so as to keep you updated!
  10. I was wondering, do you have backsprites ready as well? To me that's the hardest thing when I create a mon... It needs a lot of attention to get the angle right while still having it be recognizable.
  11. Good to see you back! I have been waiting for an update in this project for a while Starters: I really like the concepts behind them. They are so unique! From just the first stages, I would choose Cova. Will it be Fire and Poison? 6 different playable characters? That's awesome! But maybe creating them would take a lot of time. You can always start with 2 characters and add regularly new ones. That's just in case you would like to release something fast. Empire: Good luck in working with the team! It's always beneficial to work in a group, share ideas and get help. Pokemon ideas: I really like the first two. I have always found it weird that there is a male Gardevoir... Actually I have been thinking for a long time that a male form of Vespequeen would be such a cool idea. I had actually come up with the same name! For your last idea, I am not really sure. It would be quite difficult to create a sprite for this "swarm form". But then again, Wishiwashi turned out to be a design I really liked so... I don't know... Anyway, good luck in your game. I will be waiting for more updates!
  12. @jamesw0102 If you have made some changes on layer two for example and you have put already something on layer three, the thing you have put on layer three will show up. Basically, the higher the layer, the more priority it gets in order to show up on the map. I hope this answers your question
  13. Thank you all for your answers! They were really helpful! I agree with everyone. To me, music is a factor that separates a good game from a great one. It can increase the quality but it doesn't mean it's essential if you just want to have something done. Although I don't want to downgrade the audio in a game, as you said before there are more important things a new developer should focus on for the start. Anyway, thanks for all the answers! You helped me clear many things up
  14. I've seen in many posts that people really dislike the essentials default music. So it got me wondering, do people actually dislike the default music or they just got bored of it? How much does inclusion of different music affect your game experience? Is it a factor a game developer should prioritize or it doesn't bother you that much? That's all! Any feedback is appreciated!
  15. In a previous post I said that I would love to see a bug-dragon pokemon based on a dragonfly! I really love both types and I believe it would turn out great! Another one can be a pokemon based on a phoenix. It would probably be fire and flying with the ability regenerator. You can even create a new ability for it, to demonstrate better the revival effect a phoenix has!
  16. remaking character or fakemon design is a major issue for me. I always postpone it... I enjoy designing new graphics but when they don't turn out good enough... I am bored to death to rework them... Another thing I don't like doing is creating icons for items... The game doesn't break if you don't include them so they always stay in my "to do" list. Lastly, I don't like making small changes on events or, even worse, having to remake them from scratch. It's really bothersome to me to revisit my old work and it kills me when I have to change things that I have put lots of work on it...
  17. I like the 4th one the most. It edges the others in terms of power! Personally, I find the 3rd one a bit boring... But that's just my opinion.
  18. I don't think using Uranium's pokemon would be a good idea. I know they are pretty well made and stuff, but if you use them, it would feel kinda off to me. You see, by using uranium's best feature, their fakemon, I think it instantly puts a ceiling to your game. People will believe that you are trying to make a copy of uranium... and a copy usually is inferior to the original. As I see from your sprite work on the trainers, I totally believe that you have what it takes to create your own fakemon. They don't have to be perfect at the beginning ( I believe uranium remade most of their pokemon after the first release) but by constantly working, you can improve them. If you have something to present and get the attention of other members here, many would be willing to help you. In my opinion, the power that fakemon offer is that the player will be able to use pokemon he/she has never used before... So if you include fakemon already used in an other fangame... you won't get their full advantage. But that's just my opinion. Keep working hard! I will be keeping an eye to your project
  19. I was sure there would be a better way to do it... Personally I haven't studied ruby. I use it like C, that's why I really like using conditional branches and give instructions directly. I actually created a script for transformation and it works quite well. But I agree that in order to make it work more efficiently, I need to study ruby. I didn't like the fact that I had to wast variables for this... Anyway, @Matt_ , good luck on this. Study it a bit more. One way or another you will manage it
  20. Another reason why we include the gym-leader system is because it is included in pokemon essentials. Since it's a used and successful idea, people do not usually bother to create something new and they end up with the gym leaders. But by no means this system is absolute! If you are creative enough and willing to put work on this, you can come up with another system even more interesting than the gym-leader one.
  21. @Star Arcana Lots of great ideas I may include some of them in the game! @ssbCasper I wish I had this idea before I had come up with a story including gym leaders Thanks for the feedback! @Commander I was just wondering how to organize the relationships of the characters and here you are! Thanks a ton! I will take a pen and a piece of paper and get to work!
  22. This is an answer I wasn't expecting. I mean less gym leaders when every other game increases their number. It's quite an interesting take but it makes a lot of sense. I guess I was stuck in the regular way of fans making games. The idea that more gyms=more story. More gym leaders really help in the development of a story, but it's not the only way to add more content. I think I will separate my story into Arcs as you mentioned so as to organize it better. Anyway, this was a really different answer but it was very helpful.
  23. hahaha!! If this ever happens, I would know I would have succeeded Post game though doesn't have the same feel to it. To me, after I win the league it feels like I have reached my goal and that everything else is something less significant. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy when there are a lot of things to do in the postgame... it just doesn't have the same feel as the regular story. Thanks Casper for your answer! It really helps. I will try to organize my ideas a bit better and will then decide whether they are enough to extend the regular story while keeping the same quality. And as you said, I can anytime go back and add more details.
  24. The general idea about the game is there, like what's the goal of the hero, what hardships he/she will encounter and these stuff. But the story is written with more details up to the third gym. So, do you believe I should write down everything in detail and then decide on how long I will have the game be? Thanks for your suggestions! The completion of the game might take a while though... I was originally planing on following the concept of 8 gyms and 4 elite 4. But as I keep working on the story (adding more details and stuff), I can't help but think that more gyms could be added... I guess I will work it in my head more like you said. I really enjoyed insurgence myself. If I come close to what the suzerain has done with that game, I will be really happy You make some pretty good points! I will give trying to increase the length story a shot keeping into consideration the things you said. I will try not to force anything, since I am quite satisfied with what I have so far. Thanks everyone for the answers. They cleared out a lot of things for me
