  1. Maris uses his mad martial arts skills to hit the goblin in front of him twice. He punches it, swings with the momentum to do a partial somersault, and kicks it in the face along the way.
  2. Maris double moves to intercept one of the goblins. Unfortunately, he had to cover too much ground to follow up with anything.
  3. "Can you give me a run-down of your capabilities?" Lexiel asks, "It would be helpful if we are to be working together in the future. Additionally, I think we are missing some context that is in fact essential. Since when was Assassin a title rather than a job? And as I have little doubt you know, ending any war is a rather serious and complex endeavor. Charging in with no intel, we are more likely to worsen the situation than improve it." And also shoot politicians and level arcologies, but Lexiel doesn't say those points.
  4. The moment Nobunaga completes her side of the contract, the scroll promptly rolls up and seals itself, the signet of the Azorius guild glowing faintly on its case. An abrupt rush of power fills Nobunaga, like nothing she's experienced before. The bustling spires of an island college overlooking a city that stretches from horizon to horizon, the quiet, fiery strength of a dormant volcano surrounded by an ocean of rainbow-tinted, chalky powder, the vast, sun-scorched expanses of a plain dotted with the shattered bodies of some sort of machine shaped in the facsimile of a man, this and many more fills the summon. The unbridled power of the land itself, steadfast, endlessly variable, and inexhaustible flows into her from a dozen worlds, channeled through the Planeswalker she is now bound to. With it comes impressions and emotions; of order, community, and the resolve to defend it, of curiosity, optimism, and lust for knowledge, of courage, glory, and a burning desire for freedom. The power and sensation sweeps through Nobunaga before dying down to a simmer. It is not contained. That is likely impossible. But it is controlled to an extent. Banked and dormant until it is called upon. A small twist of raw energy breaks free from the well of power and sweeps up to over Nobunaga's heart, where it imprints the symbol of Overwatch upon her clothes, in vibrant hues of red, blue, and white. She would be (presumably) astonished to realize that this contract doesn't seem to be binding or restricting her mind and body in any way. To do so would be an anathema to the magical essence of freedom and independence bubbling in her mana reserves like lava. However, she can sense a provision for some sort of transportation effect. "Excellent. The contract seems to have taken, and you did not explode," Lexiel states cheerily, "Welcome to Overwatch, Oda Nobunaga, on a probationary status at least. One agent cannot approve entry alone, and I will need to observe you before I can make a final judgement. How do you feel? I understand that the process can be intense for those who are unused to this school of magic." [OOC: Based on my understanding of Fate/Stay Night contracts with heroes, they always include Command Seals, these nifty little things that let summoners force their summons to do whatever they want 3 times. However, Lexiel is using a non-standard contract, and binding someone's will like that is opposed to everything she stands for, so they don't manifest here. Too much red mana for hard mind control. However, Nobunaga does get the standard MtG 'teleport this summon to the summoner's location' feature, along with a huge infusion of raw, MtG style mana.]
  5. "Hm. You don't look like much of a demon or king," Lexiel mutters. She fishes around in her Bag of Holding for a while, before coming up with a metal-bound scroll, which she quickly unrolls. After checking the scroll over for damage, a quick process, she signs it, and pulls a few of her hairs out. She places them in a box on the contract, where they stick. "Sign here, and DNA sample here. Hair, blood, whatever you like." She offers Nobunaga a ballpoint pen and the open scroll. "Be forewarned. If we are not in sufficient alignment you are unlikely to survive what happens next."
  6. Lexiel lands in the group, folding her wings delicately, before our rescuer begins talking, "You need a mage? I am Lexiel, accredited Nivmagus of the Izzet," She flashes her Izzet signet so it catches any light in the area, "There are other users of magic here, but few can claim to have been trained at such a prestigious institution, much less with a focus on summoning. I'm always looking for a strong new partner to work with, but I will not make a contract with someone who I do not know. Or to someone I cannot trust. If your values do not sufficiently align with mine, I will not be able to make a contract with you. My mana bonds would be as poison to your very essence. I am Lexiel, the Successor, professional wizard cop, arcane researcher, and agent of Overwatch. My cause is that of justice and learning, to protect those who cannot protect themselves, and educate them that they may defend themselves in my absence. Who are you, and why would you seek to join your strength to mine?"
  7. Maris starts out of bed upon hearing the goblins enter, and rushes to defend the inn! [OOC: How do I get to the Roll20 page? I can't find it.]
  8. Lexiel follows cautiously from the air, watching the area for ambushes and incoming air assets. She also tries to spot the 'human fortress', to see if there's an actual safe haven, or a trap waiting for us. Samantha, on the other hand, takes one of the offered rides. She can't fly without her Phoenix Corona, and using that to move is utterly impractical.
  9. [OOC: This should happen after our 5 reactive actions.] Lexiel directs her Lightkeeper of Emeria to shine its lantern upon Gozer. He seems to be somewhat neglected at the moment. The holy light heals the golem for 12 HP (mana bonds x2). Her aura pulses out, healing Aurora, Solomon, and Hiroki for 3 HP each. Her angel and dragon summons continue to follow their respective orders, the former defending Lexiel and the latter attacking the warriors. Finally, she summons 2 more goblins, and orders them to distract as many of the enemy as they can. Samantha, meanwhile, decides that since people are focusing on protecting someone they're calling Mitsu, she should do the same. The Phoenix avatar sprints to the other woman's side, and puts up her Deflector Shield, giving all incoming fire towards either of them a 40% miss chance with her telekinesis.
  10. Maris follows Helga into the back, and does whatever is asked of him. Well, as far as labor goes, anyway.
  11. Maris considers his answer briefly. "Uh, I passed through this city a while ago, but I have been travelling for years," He allows, deciding that a partial truth is the best path. His skill at conning people has atrophied to near-nonexistence since he abandoned his larcenous ways. "I stayed at this tavern the last time I was in town, and decided to again. I was gladdened to see you are still in business. Many of the establishments I remember have proven as enduring as the breeze." Did that sound wise and profound? Maris hoped it did.
  12. Maris enters the city a little nervous. He has been away for a while, and looks pretty different, but old habits die hard. Assuming nobody recognizes him, he makes his way to the tavern he remembers, hoping it's still there. Since it is, he goes inside and after some thought offers his services for manual labor in exchange for room and board; dish washing, wood chopping, whatever. It's good training and all he has to trade is his own strength and skill.
  13. Seeing that there's still a goblin left and the bait seems to be working, Lexiel decides to do something other than throw goblins into the meat grinder. She instead summons her Lightkeeper of Emeria, and orders it to block for her. Her aura pulses out, barely audible, healing Hiroki, Soryn, and Friedhold for 3 HP each. Samantha, meanwhile, decides to throw caution to the wind. She feels pretty healthy right now. So she activates her Phoenix Corona, and blasts an amped basic attack with her creepy psychic brain into the Archer Battalion. [OOC: Samantha uses Phoenix Corona and blasts a supercharged basic attack into the archer battalion. Lexiel summons Lightkeeper of Emeria to block for her, and heals Hiroki, Soryn, and Friedhold with her aura.]
  14. I couldn't find any portraits that looked much if at all like how I imagined my character. It's like all D&D character artists make scantily clad elf women, ludicrously jacked humans/dwarves, and nothing else. Just use this instead.
  15. Lucinda opens her mouth, closes it as The Blue Knight starts talking, and after a few seconds produces a notebook and pencil and starts taking notes on the older woman's speech. Once it concludes, she decides to put her two cents in. "Wow. Uh, I had a lot of questions, but that answers most of them. So, I guess I'll go with this one. How did you all suddenly change clothes? And why? I mean, I guess it was easy, since everyone else did, and there's probably a reason since everyone who, er, was actually useful did, but I didn't and then that scorpion lady was just hitting me over and over and holy moly that was freaking terrifying and I think I'm rambling and probably in shock so I'm just going to stop now."
  16. Samantha does her best to stave off the inevitable with her healing action, Fiery Rebirth. Hopefully this will keep her from dying. Note that whenever Samantha is healed, Warsong triggers and deals 50% of HP restored as AOE damage to all enemies. Also, Samantha cannot limit, aim, or choose not to use Warsong. "Shit! Uh, I could really (gasp, cough) use some help, guys!" She calls out, desperately trying to stave off her exsanguination. Meanwhile, Lexiel's aura pulses, and the music grows stronger, though it is still largely unnoticable. Venus, Kino, and Dackly are healed by the aura. Not wanting to attract attention, Lexiel chooses to simply continue taking potshots at archer group C. Hopefully, if she stays on the fringes of the fight and tries not to seem dangerous, she'll be able to build up enough mana to make a difference. Not for a comet storm; after the arcology mission, Lexiel isn't sure she can bring herself to cast that spell again. Even with Laver's help, that's a lot of bad memories. [OOC: Samantha heals herself 2d6 + [syn] HP with Fiery Rebirth. This, like all healing she receives, triggers her Warsong perk, dealing 50% of HP recovered as AOE damage to all enemies. Samantha cannot choose to limit or turn this off. Lexiel fires another basic attack at the same archer group, and heals Venus, Kino, and Dackly 3 HP apiece with her aura. It's not much, but better than nothing.]
  17. Got a character! It's Weaboo Feightin' Magik time! I noticed we needed a sneaky person and scout, and everybody has rogues do that, so I thought hey, monks can be sneaky too. GM, feel free to let me know if anything here doesn't mesh with your world. I tried to keep his backstory light and generic. "Maris" Blackstar Wood Elf Monk (Way of the Open Hand) Str: 9 Dex: 17 Con: 14 Int: 8 Wis: 16 Cha: 10 Skills: Acrobatics, Stealth, Perception, Deception, Insight Background: Criminal. "Maris" (his actual name is utterly unpronounceable if you aren't a native speaker of Sylvan) was once a petty criminal who eventually narrowly escaped branding and loss of a hand for his crimes by escaping into the wilderness. Hoping to avoid a grisly punishment, he ventured out into the frontier, where he studied at a monastery in a distant land far to the west, at which he learned the ancient arts of combat, freed himself from the illusions of property (someday, anyway) and earthly desire (still working on it), and generally cleaned up his act. After he hit a wall in his studies, the master of the monastery suggested that by returning to his homeland and facing his past, he might come closer to true enlightenment. In the mean-time, he feels bound to try to do some good to atone for his criminal past, though his honor may ironically be part of what keeps him bound to those pesky earthly desires. Description/Portrait: Maris is a wood elf, not especially tall at 5'4", and of a slender, nondescript build. He has brown eyes, a shaven head, and a very well-toned physique. His only possessions are the faded, yellow robes he wears, a set of straw sandals (replace as needed), a wooden bowl to be used for begging, and a razor to keep his head shaved. His facial features are sharp and well-defined, giving him a distinctly weaselly look, which sometimes attracts assumptions he no longer deserves. Maris attempts to cultivate an air of wisdom and openness about himself, but thus far only really succeeds in repeating the occasional koan and avoiding being beaten for vagrancy. Like much of the mystic side of being a monk, this is a work in progress.
  18. Cobalt feels satisfied for the moment, and doesn't have anything better to do, so he decides to follow Cim and Elicia.
  19. I'm working on my sheet now. Should have it up in a day or two. Probably going to play a skill monkey of some sort. Rogues get a lot of skills, so I'll go with that unless another class that fills the role catches my eye.
  20. Samantha Grey joins the battle! Lexiel the Successor joins the battle! Lexiel appears in mid-air, and spends a few seconds orienting herself. Then, she notices the archers and dives for safety behind the nearest piece of cover. Thus protected, she decides to peek out and take a potshot at one of the archers with her narcojet rifle (basic attack at archer group C). "Hit the archers!" She shouts to any allies in reach, "If we take them down, our fliers will be unopposed!" Her aura pulses out, but there isn't anyone to heal or initiative boost. As she takes her first shot, Lexiel scans her surroundings as best she can, using her new sense of vision to try to pick up something useful about our surroundings. Samantha doesn't fly very well, not without burning herself to a crisp, but she can slow her fall to a survivable velocity and aim somewhat. She might not understand everything that Dackly said (how does a real creature have hit points, anyway?), but she does hear that they hit hard but can't take a hit. So she puts her psychic armor up, and aims herself towards beast group B. [OOC: Samantha activates her Psychic Armor to buff her resistance. Lexiel fires a basic attack at archer group C.]
  21. Cobalt looks for another lamp post. If he finds one, he repeats the process. He's got to bulk up if he wants to evolve someday, learn a rock move, and beat those bugs.
  22. Lucinda attempts to crawl to safety, but fails to actually get anywhere due to a combination of poison, gaping wounds, and pain.
  23. Cobalt headbutts and claws a light pole until it falls over, and then starts eating it.
  24. Cobalt looks for something metal to eat. The higher quality metal, the better.
  25. Samantha enters the engineering bay, following the sounds of CRAFTING! and SCIENCE! and the vague feeling of uneasiness this feeds through her powers. She begins looking for the source of these disturbances.
