Matthew: Hmm. Mmm? Whoa! What the fuck?! Where am I?! I woke up and find myself flying through a dark void. I was completely freaking out. Then I remembered 1 thing. Matthew: Ohh yea. I woke up in a weird place. Wehttam! Where are you? Wehttam: Hello! Welcome! Matthew: Ahh! You scared me! Wehttam: My apologies. Matthew: So why did you have me meet in a lifeless void? Wehttam: Well for 1, this is a dream. And also, doesn’t it feel kind of nice just floating? Matthew: Well I mean… Yea. It does kind of actually. Wehttam: Exactly. It’s relaxing. And I think after the day you’ve had, you need this. Matthew: You know, you’re not wrong. Busting out everyone from the orphanage, those videos, Shade and knowing that most of them got captured again… A lot is weighing on my mind right now. I feel bad for sleeping right now too. But if I don’t, I will mess up and be useless to everyone. Wehttam: Yeeees. I believe you Matthew. Matthew: Hey. Do you have any idea what Shade is or was or… Whatever he is? Wehttam: I tried to figure it out during the battle you 2 had but… I have no clue. He’s nothing like me. That’s for sure though. Matthew: I hope not. That’d be scary thinking that someone that looks like that is sharing their soul inside my body with my soul. Wehttam: No. We souls look more majestic… Or majestically crazy. I walked out of the tunnel and headed up towards Beryl Bridge. Not only was I going up there to get the power back on so we could escape but I was also going for my 4th Gym Badge. I’d be lying though if I said I wasn’t afraid. Not scared of for my life scared but just really frightened. It didn’t help that no 1 even offered to come with me when I asked. Ohh well. I had a mission to do. Actually 2. Before getting up there, I decided to do some training with my Pokemon. In about an hour, I got done with my training in the Jasper Ward and continued. I finally made it to the old power plant. I stood in front of the door. I stared through the glass to try to see if there was anything in there. The only thing I could see were grates blocking the path forward and 1 of those computers capable of talking to Ame. I walked in and walked up to the computer and pressed the button. Ame’s face appeared on screen which lit up a little bit of the room. Ame: Hey Matthew. How are you… Why is it so dark where you are? Matthew: I’m in the old power plant that’s across the Beryl Bridge. Ame: Ohh! So that must mean you’re gonna face Shade. Matthew: Yea… Any pointers? Ame: Well, the building there is all messed up. The lights flicker on and off as I can see right now. That will power his Ghost and Electric attacks. But if you can mess with them, then it won’t do a thing. But besides that, just hit him hard. I’m sure you’ll do great Matthew. Matthew: Before you go, I wanna ask you something. Ame: Sure. What is it? Matthew: Is Shade even a human? Ame:… Good luck Matt! Bye! Matthew: Wait! You didn’t- The computer shut off and I was back in the complete darkness again. She didn’t give me an answer. Well time to find away to get these grates down. There were 2 rooms to go into. I decided to go through the right 1 1st. I didn’t know where I was going or what I was supposed to do. As I walked around, I could faintly see a panel. I didn’t know what else to do so I pressed the button on it. A light above me came on and the screen in front of me turned on. I watched as a woman, wearing something close to what Victoria wears, turned around and was beheaded by a Garchomp. The screen then went to black. I was horrified to what I just saw. Matthew (thinking out loud): What the… What the fuck did I just watch? Did Shade do that? Or… I gotta continue. I continued walking around the room when I came across another panel. I took a deep breath and pressed the button on it. Just like before, the lights came on and a video started to play on the screen. Amaria appeared on screen. This got my heart pumping. It had been a long time since I last saw her. I was worried something might have happened to her. As I continued to watch, I could see a red haired woman come up behind Amaria and push her off of a ledge. At least, that’s what it looked like to me. The screen went to black. I leaned over the panel with my hands on my head. Matthew (thinking out loud): No way… Is she dead? Amaria is dead? No. This can’t be real can it? I… This is so fucked up! I stood up and walked away. I couldn’t see any other panels or anything else in the room so I went back to the main room. As I entered, I noticed that some of the grates were gone. But there were at least 2 left. That meant that those panels were connected to those grates. Which meant I had to find the other 2 and watch more horrific videos. I entered the left room and searched for more panels. I eventually found 1. I pushed the button and the video began. A girl in weird clothing came up on screen. She was just standing there. The clothes she was wearing closely resembled something of that to Team Meteor. Suddenly, the screen started to turn white and a loud explosion happened. When the screen went back to normal, the girl literally crumbled into pieces. I was horrified but it didn’t freak me out that much. If this girl was truly part of Team Meteor, then it was 1 less person to be dealing with. I continued my search for the last panel. I finally found it. I pressed the button and looked up in shock and horror as Corey appeared on the screen. It was like someone had plugged something into my brain, recorded this moment and then somehow got it onto a tape. Corey stood on the bridge, turned around and fell to his death. The screen turned off. I stood there with tears swelling up in my eyes. Matthew (thinking out loud): Corey… I’m sorry… I’m trying my best to protect your daughter but it just seems like I keep fucking up… Wherever you are… Do your best to keep an eye on her when I can’t… I wiped the tears away from my eyes. As I was about to walk away, Godra Goodra popped out of its PokeBall. The gooey little dragon looked up at me and noticed my puffy, red eyes. Goomy: Goomy Goom? Matthew: I’m alright Godra Goodra. I’m just… Memories popped back up and they’re just not good. Goomy: Goomy… We both looked up at each other and then Godra Goodra jumped up into my arms. I hugged it as it nuzzled me. Matthew: Thank you Godra Goodra. Goomy: Goomy Goom! I continued to hug it until I started to see a bright flash. I looked at my Goomy and saw that it was lighting up and changing form. I put it on the ground and watched as my Goomy evolved into a Sliggoo. Matthew: Godra Goodra… This is amazing! The light faded out and right before me was my newly evolved Sliggoo. I knelt beside it and gave it a hug as it snuggled my head. Matthew: Did you evolve to make me feel better? Sliggoo: Sliggoo Slig! Matthew: You’re such a good friend. Thank you. Sliggoo: Sliggoo! I stood back up and returned Godra Goodra back to its PokeBall. I couldn’t believe that 1 of my Pokemon evolved just to make me feel better. I felt confidence going through my body. I was ready for whatever was gonna happen next. I walked back to the main room and the rest of the grates were gone. I started to walk up the path. Eventually, I could see the outline of a shadow. It was Shade. I walked up to him. Matthew: Alright. I’m not too sure what you have to do with all the stuff I’ve seen but I’m here to get my badge and to turn the power back on. Ready to go down? Shade didn’t say a thing. Instead, he floated up above me. He opened his eyes which were red and then smiled the creepiest smile I’ve ever seen in my entire life. This freaked me out for a couple of moments but I regained my composure. The battle then begun. After the battle was done, something floated over towards me. As it got closer, I noticed it was a badge. I took it and put it in my badge case. Then shockingly, Shade spoke. Shade: Omen Badge… Yours… Matthew: Y-Y-Y-You can talk?! Shade: Power? Activate… The lights in the place suddenly came on as if the power plant had never been damaged or something. Shade didn’t seem as scary when in the light. Shade turned to the large screen that was in front of us. Shade: Observe. The screen turned on and the group was there. I saw as the door that was previously closed shot open. Everyone cheered for my success but it didn’t last long. Sirius appeared at the door. Matthew: No! (On screen) Sirius: Greetings, all. This is even more convenient than I expected. (On screen) Charlotte: And just who are you? (On screen) Sirius: That’s of no consequence to you. Grunts! Seize them! Matthew watched helplessly as Team meteor Grunts poured into the tunnel and 1 by 1 kidnapped all the children. Everyone except for Cain. Cain was able to bring out his Nidoking and crack the floor between him and the Meteors before fleeing. (On screen) Team Meteor Grunt: Sir, what do we do? (On screen) Sirius: It’s of no concern to us. He’s not part of our deal. Matthew: Deal? (On screen) Sirius: We’ve got everything we needed. Exactly what the Doctor ordered. The last line felt like it punched me in the stomach before the screen faded to black. Matthew: N-No… The Doctor teamed up with Team Meteor?! Damnit! Shade: So dying souls offer the keys to your gain. Matthew: What do you mean? Shade: Let not them suffer to the poison in vain. Before I could ask him what he was talking about, Shade disappeared. I looked around the room but he didn’t appear before me. I sat there sad about what happened to the group. We just got them out of a bad place and now they’re probably in a worse place. Another factor that I was beginning to realize is that I was getting horribly tired. I knew it was a bad time to get a couple of Z’s while the group was captured but I’d be more useful and resourceful if I was wide awake and alert than sleepy as hell and in a not caring mood. So, I made my way to the Beryl Gym and used Corey’s bed once again to get some much needed sleep. Pokemon Team REBORN CHARACTER RATES

In the Chrysolia Region in a fancy looking place, Laura was walking around the house. It had been a long time since she was last inside it. She just got out of the orphanage place. She was worried about her younger sister, Charlotte, and the twins, Anna and Noel, being in there. But her sister was 1 tough cookie so she figured she’d be fine in there. She decided to plant some flowers in the garden but it had to be in eights for some reason. After planting flowers in the garden, she decided to tidy up the house. It had been a while since anyone was inside it and it was somewhat dirty. She cleaned every inch of the house but felt satisfied when it was all finished. By the time she got done, it was nighttime. Laura decided that she’d go watch a little tv before going to sleep. She turned on the tv and started to flick through the channels. She landed on the news channel but as soon as she was about to switch it, a news report came across the screen saying “Orphans Escaped With Help Of Criminals.” Laura was horrified. Laura: Wha… What happened? I hope Charlotte is ok. She turned the volume up on the tv. A TV crew turned the camera towards Dr. Sigmund and a police officer. Dr. Sigmund: Yes. 1 was wearing mostly all purple. It was a boy dressed up like a girl basically. The other 1 had purple hair and wore mostly like a forest like colored shirt. She seemed somewhat scared to talk to me or anyone for that matter. The last 1 was heavyset and had an Arbok tattoo on his arm. He seemed like the leader of the 3. Laura watched on in horror. But the way they described the last person. She remembered a person like that. Yes. It was that young man she bumped into the other day when she was finally able to leave. She paid attention back to the tv. Police Officer: Can you give us anymore details? Dr. Sigmund: All I know is that those orphans that were tricked into leaving. They need to be saved and brought back. The culprits are responsible for this! I hope when they get captured, they get the worse kind of punishment by the law. Police Officer: Alright sir. Thank you for the information you’ve given us. Dr. Sigmund: My pleasure. And please… Please find them. News Reporter: Well there you have it folks. We’ll be back with more information as this story unfolds. Laura turned the tv off. She knew how the Doctor was. She was still scared about the group that had basically “tricked” them into escaping. Laura: Charlotte… Noel… Anna… Don’t worry. I’ll find you. I’ll find all of you. I gotta find that man with the tattoo. I hope he or the others haven’t hurt her or the others. Without hesitation, Laura walked out of the building and journeyed her way back to the Reborn Region. She was going to find out as much info as she could so she could reunite with her little sister and the twins.

Cain was way faster than me. Then again, I am a heavy-set person so it’s obvious he would outrun me. By the time I got to Shelly’s Gym in the Lapis Ward, I was almost out of breath. I stood outside of the gym for a couple of minutes catching my breath. As I did that, I heard yelling coming from within the building and it sounded a lot like Heather. I decided I’d catch my breath inside and make sure no 1 was hurt. I ran upstairs and of course, it was Heather who was yelling. Heather: Ugh! Why do you keep following me?! I just wanna be left alone! Cain: Hey, Hey, I just don’t think it’s good for you to be alone right now. Shelly: I kind of um, I kind of agree with him Heather. I’m really worri- Heather: Hey! Don’t take his side! You’re my friend! Shelly: Ohh… I-I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to… Matthew: I know you’re hurt, confused and scared but I don’t think you should yell at Shelly like that. She’s just being honest with you. Heather: Hmph! Cain: Heather, I know how it feels to be alone. But- Heather: But nothing! PLEASE shut up! You don’t know me at all! You said I needed a friend right? All of ran out of the building to catch Heather before she did anything that could hurt herself. Luckily though, she didn’t get far. Unfortunately, the reason we caught up to her was because of the Doctor. Matthew (under my breath): No… No. Not him. Not now. Heather: Would you PLEASE just get out of my way?! Dr. Sigmund: Hmph. That is absolutely no way to speak to your elders. Heather: Just shut up and move already! I don’t care what you’re saying! Dr. Sigmund: You seem unusually animous child. Haven’t your parents taught you any manners. Cain: Lay off the girl geezer. Dr. Sigmund: Excuse me but I am not a “geezer.” I am a doctor and I have worked MANY hours to earn that title and in turn, I expect to be addressed appropriately. Cain: Well if you insist. Back off then, Dr. Geezer. Heather: Pfft. Matthew: Did you just giggle at Cain’s joke Heather? Heather: No! I had something stuck in my throat. Cain: You had a giggle stuck in your throat? Heather: Shut up! Dr. Sigmund: While I do HATE to break up your giddy humor, I’m afraid I must. Little girl, where are your parents? Heather: Just shut up about that! Shelly: Her um… They’re um, not here anymore Doctor… My heart dropped as I heard Shelly say those words. I know she didn’t know the Doctor was really a bad dude but I couldn’t help but be a little upset with her by this. I knew what this meant now. He was going to make her live at the orphanage. It maybe the law here for any children without parents to have to live there but I’d rather them just sleep out in the wild or anywhere than stay here. I looked at the Doctor and saw a grin come across his face. Dr. Sigmund: Is that so? Hrm. I see. So, who is now your primary caregiver? Matthew: I-I am! Everyone looked at me with weird looks on their faces. I didn’t know what I was saying but I was trying to save Heather from having to go into that place. Dr. Sigmund: Is that so? Then let me see your paperwork. Matthew: I… I don’t have any. Her father asked me to watch over her right before his death. So- Dr. Sigmund: I see. While it’s sad that he died and asked you to watch over her, unless you have papers that legally say that you’re her caregiver, then she’s still an orphan. My heart dropped even lower. I couldn’t do anything to save her right now. Heather: It doesn’t matter anyways! I don’t NEED anyone! I’m fine all by myself! Dr. Sigmund: Seeing as you have no guardian, I may have a solution for you. You see, I myself run a service for the children of Reborn. I give homes to those who have none. Food, shelter and even many friends, just like yourself. Does that sound nice to you Heather? Heather: I don’t need or want anything from you you creepy old man! Dr. Sigmund: I have no idea why you are being so rude. I am offering you everything you need to get your life back on track. Why do you resist? Heather: Like I called you before, you’re a creep! No girl would ever want to be around you! Matthew (under my breath): She has a point there. Dr. Sigmund: I see. Well, I would say that you leave me with little option. He was gonna read out all this bullshit stuff about how children with no parents were to stay at the orphanage. I didn’t feel like being bored to death listening and I’m sure everyone else felt the same. Matthew: Can you just cut the crap and just tell us you’re gonna take her? For the love of Arceus… Dr. Sigmund: Hmm. If that is what you wish, then so be it. Orderlies? Seize her! The 2 orderlies came up and both grabbed 1 of Heather’s arms. Cain: Hey. No. Not cool. Back off, Dr. Oldguy. Heather: Hey! What are you doing?! Get off of me! Let go of me right now! Dr. Sigmund: Take her to the orphanage. I will be there shortly. And if any of you even think to interfere, we will call the proper authorities which will result in a criminal record and a lawsuit against your name. Now, do have a good day. Dr. Sigmund and the 2 orderlies, with Heather, walked away towards the orphanage. Cain turned towards me with a somewhat disappointed face. Cain: Matt, what was that all about? Matthew: Dude, they were gonna take her regardless. I just… I sped up the process. Cain: Why?! We could have saved her! Matthew: How?! You didn’t even try anything except for calling him Dr. Oldguy! Cain: Do you even care about what happens to her? Matthew: Of course I do. As Cain and I continued to fight, we started to hear someone cry. We turned around and saw that it was Shelly. Shelly (crying): Oh my Arceus… I j-just… Matthew: Yes Shelly. You are 1 of the reasons this happened as well! Shelly turned around and ran back to her Gym. Cain then came up to me and pushed me. Cain: Whoa Matt. Back off. None of us knew the Doctor was bad. Well except for you apparently. Why didn’t you tell us? Matthew: Well for 1, I wasn’t expecting to run into him out here on the streets and 2, what am I supposed to say when we’re RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE FUCKING GUY?! Cain: Look, I have no time for this. Do what you want, but I’m gonna go make sure that Shelly is ok. Cain then bolted up to Shelly’s Gym. I stood there for a couple of minutes. I was angry that Heather was taken in by the “Good” Doctor. I didn’t want her hurt anymore than she was right now. And I took it out on the wrong people. I sunk to the ground and sobbed for a bit. But I knew I had to help out somehow. I started to walk back to Shelly’s Gym. I went inside and climbed the stairs. I saw Shelly on her knees crying as Cain was trying to console her. I came up beside them. Cain: Ohh. You’re here. Matthew: Look… I’m sorry. I just… I was just mad that this was happening and I took it out on the wrong people. Cain:… It’s ok. It’s understandable. Matthew: And I’m seriously sorry to you Shelly. Shelly: B-But you’re right… If I hadn’t said anything, he wouldn’t have known that she was… Ohh Arceus… I-I’m so sorry Heather. Cain: You didn’t do anything wrong Shelly. Don’t blame yourself for what that creep does. He’s his own demon. It’s kind of my fault though… I was the 1 who chased her out of here. Matthew: Ohh don’t you start that. Haha. Shelly: B-But he said we’d get in trouble. Isn’t that bad. Cain: Yea. You’re probably right. We might be arrested and put in jail… Big trouble. Matthew: If this is supposed to be a pep talk, you’re failing at it. Cain: Ohh shush Matthew~ But I’m willing to risk it all to save Heather. Shelly: Y-Yea… I hope she’s ok. At that moment, the 3 of us heard a shriek. Matthew: What the hell was that?! Shelly: W-Was that… Heather? Cain: We have no time to lose. Come on! The 3 of us ran outside into the now thunderstorm. I hated the rain but now wasn’t the time to complain about the rain. We stood outside the door and talked about what we do before we just tried to ambush them. Suddenly, an idea popped into my mind. Matthew: I have an idea! Cain: What is it? Matthew: There’s 3 orphans in there that seem to be desperate to try to escape that place. I bet if we ask them for help, they will and it’ll make this easier. Shelly: W-Would they help us get Heather? Matthew: They hate this place a lot. I don’t think they’d leave anyone behind that didn’t want to escape as badly as them. So yea. I think they will. Cain: Well, it’s a good of a plan as I think we’ll come up with. Let’s go inside! The 3 of us barged into the door and it opened up. Just like last time, Anna was standing right in front of me. Anna: Hi again Matthew! Cain: I take it you are the 3 kids Matt was talking about? Charlotte: And what exactly did he say about us? Matthew: Chill. I told them that you 3 want to get the hell out of here. Charlotte: Ohh. Well that is true. Shelly: D-Did the Doctor bring in a girl earlier? Anna: The girl with the pink hair? Yep! Charlotte: She was fighting and yelling all the way up to the top floor. Now that introductions are out of the way, what are you 3 doing here? Shelly: W-We’re here to save Heather! Cain: Yea. An orphanage bust out. Matthew: You guys want in? Anna, Noel and Charlotte looked at each other with smiles on their face. It was weird seeing Noel smile. Charlotte: Is that even a question? Of course we wanna get out of here. I think I can handle a couple of them for ya. Charlotte went into the other room and started yelling at a couple of the orderlies for her cigs. Then we saw them carrying Charlotte into another room and putting her into the Curcuit. Cain: Hey, what’s the Curcuit? Anna: It’s where they put the really bad kids to be alone. Matthew: I don’t there are any really bad kids here. Anna: Ohh. There are. Just not that many. Orderly: Hey! Who’s that in the doorway?! Matthew: Alright. Cain? Shelly? Since we’re the only ones with Pokemon right now, we gotta get through these people. Cain: On it! Shelly: R-Right! 3 orderlies came running up to us as me, Cain and Shelly all squared up to each of them. Orderly: It’s past visiting hours. You’ll have to leave. Cain: Yeeaaa. I don’t really feel like it. Matthew: So we’re gonna have to decline. Shelly: S-Sorry… Orderly: Fine then. We’ll make you leave! Orderlies! Attack! The battles didn’t last long. Can, Shelly and I all came out victorious. All 3 of the orderlies left. 1 came out of nowhere and snatched Shelly away from us. Orderly: Ha! Gotcha! What will you do now?! Matthew: Shelly! Suddenly, a Pokemon popped out from 1 of my PokeBalls. It was Pistol Pete, my Clauncher. Pistol Pete raised up its claw preparing for an attack. Matthew: Pistol Pete? Clauncher: Claunch. Clauncher! Orderly: Ha! Go ahead. Fire off an attack. You’ll only hit your friend here. Shelly: H-Help… Pistol Pete stood there looking at the orderly. It then used Aqua Jet. It moved so fast the orderly didn’t even noticed that it had appeared behind him. Then, it opened its claw up and launched a powerful Water Pulse attack on him, knocking him down thus, letting go of Shelly. Shelly ran over to Pistol Pete and hid behind it. The orderly got back up and looked over at the 2. Orderly: You’ll pay for that! The orderly started to run towards the 2 but stopped in his tracks when he saw Clauncher start to glow and change its form. Everybody in the room watched as Clauncher had evolved into a Clawitzer. Clawitzer: Claw! Clawitzer! Pistol Pete opened its giant claw and an aura could be seen powering up inside. In a matter of seconds, it fired it at the orderly knocking him against the wall, knocking him out. Cain and I ran over to make sure they were both alright. Matthew: Are you ok Shelly? Shelly: S-Scared but I think I’m ok… Thank you Clawitzer… Clawitzer: Claw. Cain: Do you know what attack that was Matthew? Matthew: No idea but it looked awesome. Cain: That was Aura Sphere. Matthew: Wow. You’re amazing. And you deff made a friend out of Shelly. Now, return back to your PokeBall. I grabbed its PokeBall and returned it. We then walked up to the others. Anna: Wow Shelly! As we were about to head to the upper levels of the building, 2 orderlies rushed in, grabbed Noel and took him upstairs. Matthew: Looks like we got another person to save Shelly. You ready for this? Shelly: I have to save Heather… S-So yes! Matthew: Alright. It’s time to show these guys our awesomeness! We ran up the stairs and instantly had to battle some orderlies. They weren’t hard but I think if I had to do it on my own, it would have been somewhat harder. After defeating a set of orderlies, 1 of them pushed a button on the wall and a grate came down, blocking our path from going up. Shelly: Wh-What do we do now? Matthew: We should head back down. Anna should know something. We ran back downstairs and went straight to Anna. Anna: What’s wrong? Shelly: Th-They blocked off the path to continue upstairs… Anna: What? That’s no good. How do they expect us to rescue anyone if they go and do a thing like that? Matthew: Well they probably don’t… Nevermind. You know any way of getting that out of our way? Anna: Hmm. I believe there is a door openy thingy in the lab in that room right there. Down the hall and to the left. We’re not allowed to go in there. And that’s exactly why I know it’s there. Anna’s quirky attitude made me feel a little bit better in this place. We went into the room and followed her instructions. We had to battle more orderlies but they were no trouble. We got to the panel and pressed the button. We could hear something on the upper floors. When we went to check it out, the steel grate was no longer on the floor. So we continued up. Along the way, we saw Noel being held in a cell. Noel: Hi you 2. Matthew: What the… Why did they put you in here? Noel: For helping you guys I guess. Shelly: Th-That’s not right. Matthew: Don’t worry. We’ll find a way out for you. Noel: By the way, Heather should be upstairs some more. That’s where the Doctor does his “treatments.” Matthew: Alright. Thanks for the tip. We left Noel in the cell and continued upwards. As we headed to the next floor, we ran into an orderly I battled the 1st time I was here. Male Orderly: So it’s you doing all of this Matthew. Matthew: Yea. Problem? Male Orderly: Were you here before just to stake out the place? Matthew: Nope. But seeing as to how the Doctor treats his patients, I’m glad I’m doing this. Female Orderly: We will do all we can to protect the children here of Reborn! Shelly: You call torturing them protection? I think you need to ask yourself who the real bad guy is here… Male Orderly: I’m not allowed to do that. Matthew:… Ok. What? Male Orderly: And you’re not allowed to be here! Leave at once. Matthew: Yeeeaaaa. No. I think we’ll stick to beating you both in a Pokemon battle. After the battle, the 2 orderlies walked backwards to the wall. Male Orderly: This building… This building is full of regrets. I went over to the panel and pressed the button. The cell doors opened but the steel grate didn’t go up. Matthew: Seems like we’re gonna have to ask for more help Shelly. Shelly: Well… The cells are open now… Maybe N-Noel knows something? Matthew: Good idea. Let’s go. We went down and met up with Noel whose cell was now open. Noel: Well it’s great to be free but did you not go get Heather? Shelly: It was blocked off by a steel grate. Noel: Ohh yea. I almost forgot. There should be a spare key for that in the Doctor’s private library. Unfortunately, that’s usually locked up. Matthew: So what now? We’re not gonna give up. Noel: I know. I know. I’m gonna head downstairs. Ask Anna. She might have an idea. The 3 of us quickly went downstairs. When we got to the bottom floor, Anna was sitting near the doorway where Cain used to be. Noel: What happened to Cain? Anna: Oh my Arceus! Cain is so cool! Not only is he not letting any of the orderlies out but he managed to push them back! Matthew: Really? Shelly and I went into the room. Anna was right. Cain had been able to push his way into the room. He was still battling some orderlies but it seemed easy. Charlotte was also in the, as we could only presume, the Curcuit. There was a panel near it. I pushed the button and Charlotte was freed. Charlotte: Wow. You guys are really pulling this off. Cain: Well of course we did.~ You really doubted us? Charlotte: Do you really want me to answer that? Cain: Haha. We’re good. ~Me and my friends are gonna do it right, you’ll never see us run away from a fight~ Charlotte: Jeez. You remind me of Anna. Singing at a time like this? Matthew: Trust me. The 2 orderlies backed off and then ran down down. Cain returned Nidoking back to its PokeBall. It was obvious that Cain and his ace were drained. Cain: I’m gonna take a little break right now. Me and Shelly went south and saw that a steel grate was again blocking our destination. 2 orderlies came rushing up to us and we started the battle. As usual, the battle didn’t last long. When we were done, Charlotte came up to 1 of the orderlies and whispered something into his ears. His eyes widened. He went over to the panel and pushed the button, opening the grate. Charlotte went in and gathered up everyone’s PokeBalls, her cigs and the private office keys. Before she left the room, she came up to Shelly and me and handed us the keys. Charlotte: Go into the room right next to this 1 and keep going straight up. You’ll probably have to battle more orderlies but when you get through them, press the button on the panel and the steel grate will rise up into the ceiling. We’ll be waiting up there. Try not to take too long. Shelly: O-Ok. Charlotte took off. Me and Shelly did as we were told and went to find the Doctor’s room. We found it and unlocked the door. We eventually found the panel and pressed it. We bolted out of there and straight up all the stairs. I was tired as hell when we got to the top but once I caught my breath, I could see the whole scene. Charlotte, Noel and Cain had their Pokemon out as Anna stood next to the table Heather was on. The Doctor was there along with his, I presumed, Electivire. Shelly & Matthew: Heather! Charlotte: And the last guests arrive. Matthew: What are you doing to her? This is insane! Dr. Sigmund: I am in the middle of Heather’s session and you are interrupting it. Charlotte: Well Doc, it’s a party now. What do you think? You got a diagnosis for your situation yet? I think I do. It stopped raining when I went out there so that was a good plus for me. I went as fast as I could to go to where Anna said everyone was going to. I finally made it with everyone. They probably know we’re gonna try to escape the city. So they’ll have all the exits blocked. But luckily for us, this tunnel runs underneath the city and comes out right in the Chrysolia region. And my sisters have a house there. We can lay low there until everything here calms down. Matthew: Sweet. Let’s go. Everyone started to walk towards the destination. We got to a panel and a closed door. Charlotte went over to the panel and tried to activate it to make the door open but nothing was working. Charlotte: Damnit! This stupid thing won’t turn on! As I was heading down to the Grand Hall, I walked past the Orphanage/Psychiatric Center building. I stopped in front of it and looked up and down at it. Just hang in there for a while. As I started to walk away, I swore I could hear someone from the building yelling thank you. It sounded a lot like Anna which made perfect sense. She was an odd child but it made me smile. I proceeded to walk down to the Grand Hall and went inside. I was looking forward to seeing Ame. But as I got closer to the receptionist desk, I saw a familiar green haired fellow talking with Ame. I was not going to enjoy this. I walked up to Fern and Ame. Ame: Matthew! Fern: Matthew? Matthew: Hey Ame… And Fern. Ame: How are you doing? It’s been a long time since we saw each other. Matthew: Feels like it. I’m alright. What about you? Ame: Same as usual. I was about to go into Shelly’s Gym but for some reason, I got really nervous. Something in my gut told me that Shelly was gonna be the toughest Gym Leader I’d ever face so far. I decided I’d go back to the Grand Stairway and train in the cave under that. It took a couple of hours but when we got done training, my team was stronger than ever. I healed them up and returned back to the gym. I went inside her gym and was quite shocked that her gym looked more like a library. I found the computer and pressed the button. As usual, Ame’s face popped up on screen. Ame: Hey there Matt! How you been? Matthew: I’ve been pretty ok-ish. You? Ame: Don’t even get me started. With the whole Team Meteor bombing AGAIN! Matthew: I know. I saw the hole. Ame: Yea. It’s ridiculous. But anyways, you didn’t call me to hear me rant about my job. What you need? Matthew: Well, I’m at Shelly’s Gym and- Ame: You made it to her gym huh? Nice job. Ohh yea. I forgot to tell you when I registered you. Some Gym Leaders choose in which style they’d like to battle. Some do Singles and others do Doubles. Shelly has chosen Doubles. Matthew: Ahh. This should be an interesting battle then. Should I know anything else? Ame: Yea. She likes to use rain to sweep through challengers. Matthew: Makes sense. If I was using a Fire Type, I’d be in trouble then because of that. Ame: Mhm. Well anyways, I’d better be off. Good luck in your Gym Battle today Matthew! Bye! Matthew: Later Ame. The computer screen turned off. I started to go through Shelly’s Gym and trying to solve the puzzle. Turns out I had to go to different computers and turn them off and on to make these bookcases rise and fall in order to walk across them to where I presumed Shelly was. It took a while but I was able to do it. The last computer was upstairs and past Shelly’s room. She is a clever 1. Before I crossed the bookcases, I sent out all of my Pokemon to give them all a pep talk. Matthew: Alright everyone. Listen up. We’re about to challenge Shelly. She’s a Gym Leader here. Despite her being only 12 years old, something tells me she’s gonna be our greatest challenge so far on this journey. Whatever happens, just do your best. All of you! The team cheered to hype themselves up but Link was going a bit crazy with it. We all stopped to look at him. Matthew: Link? Are you ok? He was still shouting but then it happened. He totally stopped saying anything and moving and then suddenly, he started to glow. This meant 1 thing. Evolution! I watched as my Dartrix evolved into a Decidueye. The shining died down and there was Link, the Decidueye. The rest of my team ran up to greet their newly evolved friend. Matthew (thinking to myself): Wow. He must have psyched himself up so much, he evolved from it. That’s awesome! I returned all of my Pokemon back to their PokeBalls and continued my way to the battle arena where Shelly was indeed waiting for me. I walked up to her. Matthew: Hey Shelly. So… You sure you’re ready for this? Shelly: Y-Yes… I am a Gym leader after all. Matthew: Good. Shelly: Ohh yea! Matthew! What did you think of my garden library? Matthew: Wait. You mean the room back there is actually a library? Shelly: Yes. I’m kind of a bookworm, hehe… Matthew: I’d appreciate it if there were no more puns. Shelly: Ohh. S-Sorry… Matthew: I’m just messing around. Make as many as you want. Shelly: I won’t. Anyways, I just spent a lot of time reading so I could be good enough for your brother. Matthew: Who’s your brother? Shelly: Ever heard of a boy named Bugsy? My jaw dropped. I couldn’t believe what I just heard. Bugsy and this girl here are brother and sister? That’s insane! Matthew: Wait. Are you telling me the Bug Type Gym Leader from the Johto Region is your brother? Shelly: That’s right. Matthew: Wow… I don’t know what to say. Shelly: I wanted to be just like him, so I came here to do this! Matthew: Wait wait. What? You left your home in Johto to come here in Reborn to be a Bug Type Gym Leader like Bugsy? Shelly: Yea but no matter what I do or whatever I did, it was never enough for him. Matthew: What?! You’re a higher ranked Gym Leader than him and plus you’re doing it in Reborn! How can that not be enough for him? Shelly: He just pretends that I don’t exist. Matthew: Geez. That’s terrible. Shelly: It’s fine though, I know my place. Matthew: What do you mean Shelly? Shelly: Hmm? Ohh nothing. Ohh my! Sorry. We kind of got off topic here. I took my spot on the other side of the battle field. I looked back at Shelly who mustered up a half smile. Shelly: Sooo… Good luck Matthew! Matthew: You too Shelly! May the best person win! The battle was done and I came out victorious but JUST barely. All that survived was Link. I’m so lucky he evolved or else I don’t know if I would have been able to beat her. I looked up at Shelly and saw that her head was down. Matthew: Are you ok Shelly? Shelly: Yea… I’m fine. I’m just never gonna live up to his expectations. Matthew: Hey. You’re a great Gym Leader Shelly. I really struggled against you. I didn’t really have a tough Gym Battle til just now. Shelly: R-Really?… You mean that? Matthew: Yes. I never lie about the difficulty of a battle. Shelly: Wow… Thanks Matthew. By the way, you did really well. Matthew: You’re welcome Shelly and thanks. Shelly: Umm… Here you go. Shelly walked up to me and handed me her badge, which was called the Cocoon Badge. I smiled and looked at it. This was my 3rd Gym Badge. Matthew: Thanks Shelly. Well, I think I’m gonna head out. More Gym Battles to be had you know? Shelly: Umm… Ok. I turned around and was about to leave when Shelly shouted out to me. Shelly: Matthew! Matthew: Yea? What is it? Shelly: Because of the incident earlier, I-I couldn’t explain this. The Reborn League has a Reserve Leader for every type. Matthew: A Reserve Leader? What’s that? Shelly: W-Well, when a Gym Leader retires, the reserve leader then takes their place. Matthew: Ohh. Well that’s actually kind of smart. But what’s that got to do with anything? Shelly: W-Well… Since Heather’s dad… Anyways, maybe the League doesn’t know that yet and well- Matthew: Say no more Shelly. I’m gonna go to the Grand Hall and tell Ame about it. It’s been a while since I’ve actually seen her. It’ll be good to catch up. Shelly: Thanks Matthew! Matthew: No problem. Take care Shelly.
