  1. So Magnezone is better than Electivire in Reborn right? Does electric terrain nullify all other field effects?

    1. Wolfox

      Wolfox

it does. and Zone is prolly better than Electevire in general

  2. Going to breed myself Hawlucha and Magnezone. Should be easy. And I get to test out my new team of six against 4 gym leaders too. This should be fun.

  3. Just watched the movie "Big Shorts".

Damn America got fucked really really bad.

  4. People leave, time vanishes and life goes on. My suggestion is to complete any work before dedicating your time to other people. If you can't constantly stay in touch with others you'll be even sadder when they leave.

  5. How long do people breed to get 5 IV pokemon in Reborn? After breeding for 5 hours my Larvesta has 31 in hp, sp attack and speed while it has only 29 in defense and 30 in sp def. The defense and sp def just doesn't want to go higher. It's so annoying.

I would still say you are set with 3IVs, a 30, and a 29,  all in the relevant stats.  Going any more when you aren't breeding for online trading (a al the old Trading Guild) is just torture for no real gain.

    3. Candy

      Candy

oh wow PC without internet rip fam 😢 in that case it's normal for it to take time, be patient or not - since you can very well play Reborn without perfect IVs hehe

    4. Alisae

I get my 5iv mons extremely quickly.

getting the perfect 5iv mon I want is a different story, especially if its shiny.

Like I got plenty of larvestas and breedjects and shit In fact I breed so much I have about 60 competative mons I can use

Box 1 is Phyiscal Attackers and some Bagons

Box 2 is SpA. The Kelfkis, Scyther, and Rotom in the bottom are there because I'm trading those to someone

Box 3 is bit different. the Top row is mons that are like for specific strategies like doubles or sand storm compositions. The other row is those that I need certain megas/z-crystals for them to really be amazing

Box 4 the first row along with the Grubbin are for a Trick Room team, the 3rd row is utility, 4th row SpD Tanks, 5th row DEF Tanks

and these are all of the spare 6iv mons I have

      8sm729.png

      efh0yx.png

I am pretty sure I have like 20 boxes or more filled with breedjects, most of those being around 155 5iv beldums cuz I really wanted that shiny

  6. One thing bad about reborn is the goal oriented approach of us, the player. We'll do anything to reach an end. Simon delivers Tara's probably dead body, let's just go and steal a shiny charm from her room. Want an axew? Go steal an egg from it's loving parents. Want a Bagon? Specifically go to it and teach it how to fly. Our character may be perceived as good because we "help" others but remember that if getting the earthquake tm involved burying people under a cave, we would do that too.

while this is true, I have to greatly disagree. as said before, this is not an issue of the game and probably more one of you personally. Plus, you can never please everyone. example: If you grant people the same reward for the choice no mater what, then why ever make it a choice? it will feel like your choices simply don't matter (which in that case will be the case).

    3. Zander

      Zander

      @Wolfox

Yes I understand your point. All I'm going to say is this.

When we read Titania's diary, she gives us a hell of a lecture. Maybe other events should have some sort of indicative basis as well. And maybe we should be able to reverse some choices after hearing the other person. For instance in the shiny charm we could show it to Tara's father and if he asks to return it then we make our final choice.

This topic could also be argued upon a lot so I won't go further but I feel like some sort of interaction or warning could add more life to the player than simply a person who'll do anything to get what they want.

And at the end of the game we are informed of all our choices and how we affected some people. In a sense it's like Undertale I guess.

    4. Tacos

      Tacos

Hi I don’t have a comment about the gray areas of morality in Reborn but the Shiny Charm comes from Eclipse’s room, not Tara’s.  Tara is dead at the bottom of a lake.

  7. Have Garchomp and Greninja. Currently breeding Volcarona. Going to re breed metagross to get perfect ivs. Already caught a Hawlucha. So have to breed Magnemite, Metagross and Hawlucha while currently breeding Volcarona.

As for items I only need a choice scarf for Garchomp and a Metagrossite. Have life orb, firium z, leftovers and elemental seed.

Also need Earthquake for Garchomp,  Ice Beam for Greninja and Thunderbolt for Magnezone. Need to teach Metagross ice punch as well.

    This might take a bit.

  8. Okay no gen 8. I bet including gen 8 would make events even more confusing.
  9. Looks like it's going to be a long wait. Well, at least everyone can build up their team from scratch to whatever they want. And I bet there's a ton of side quests. Even then the game will probably not be played after a month for a long time(for me at least). Oh and maybe gen 8 gets implemented too since it's releasing in 2019.
  10. Better electric type between Magnezone and Electivire for setting up electric terrain and switching out?

    1. Dreamblitz

      Dreamblitz

Zone (almost) guarantees getting it up because of sturdy and is a bit bulkier, but electivire is faster. I'd give it to Magnezone

  11. Rate reborn team which I plan on making. Already have 4 of the 6 pokemon needed.

    https://pokepast.es/083e704e32a366ac

Might use Jolteon for Magnezone but not sure.

  12. Hey, just a suggestion but the episode 18 gym puzzle would be a LOT more doable without the gym music constantly playing. The gym music constantly throws me off.

    1. Abyssreaper99

      Abyssreaper99

You can still do the gym puzzle if you turn the bgm off with f1. I think the gym puzzle is considered a sound effect rather than bgm.

  13. Heck yeah!! The story finally goes on! So he's now less time consuming but way more costly? It's kinda okay but soft resetting for natures would take max 10 minutes so idk if this is good or not... Pokemon following? That must have taken a lot of time. Good thing it's registered in my Pokedex. Wait, is it registered any more?!!
  14. Episode 18 is out!! One question though. The episodes upto 17 were 660mb large. But now episode 1-18 is only 487mb? Was the game size reduced or is it something else?

    1. Dreamblitz

      Dreamblitz

Looks like the main music folder is ~150mb smaller, so I guess some of the music was compressed a bit to be smaller files?

    2. Abyssreaper99

      Abyssreaper99

Some of the files within the game will have been compressed to make sure the game takes up as little space as possible. This is one of the goals for developers for any project.

    3. Zander

      Zander

This is a great way to save space. Thanks.

  15. Still waiting for GameFreak to make a Fire/Electric type pokemon.

I usually like Hydreigon, Tyranitar, Metagross and Garchomp on one team. The best water type with this is Gyarados with dragon dance and stuff. That leaves a huge hole for a fire type and an electric type.

Easy solution is of course ditch Hydreigon/Tyranitar because you only need one of the dark types blah blah. But I like both and both of them handle other pokemon pretty nicely.

Thunder punch doesn't cut it and even Flamethrower on Hydreigon has it's limits.

      Zander

Oh I get it. It's a bulky sweeper that can cripple opponent pokemon with unexpected gimics like thunder wave and will o wisp. Thanks.

    3. Wolfox

      Wolfox

I have played around with Mono Fire and Rotom Heat, but I liked to use V-Switch, defog, screens. not the best representation of what it can do, but on fire mono's you kinda need defoggers

    4. Zander

      Zander

Well I need a stab fire and electric move so that's going to be there. I also like the idea of thunder wave because it cripples a lot of stuff. Last slot is between light screen, reflect, volt switch, defog and hex. Don't really need defog though but yeah.

  16. With the shifting of magnemite to route 3, every single OU pokemon ever has been shifted to being obtainable only when your pokemon are guaranteed to be past level 60.

But you still have to battle a level 57 Tyranitar in full team of 6 pokemon for Luna. How fair and balanced!

      Walpurgis

Aside from what everyone else has said, which I mostly agree with, I want to point out that you're wrong saying the player doesn't get OU mons before Luna. Ignoring starters, mystery egg pokemon and that a 70% of the OU tier is composed of megas and legendaries you get pokemon like Gastrodoon, Chansey and Tangrowth with Chansey and Tagrowth being available as soon as you beat Shelly. Tangrowth alone is perfectly able to deal with Tyranitar without half a problem.
And this is looking just at OU mons, but even in lower tiers there are tenths of pokemon able to deal with tyranitar and even Luna's whole team.

    3. seki108

      seki108

Don't know what moveset her T-tar had in Ep 16, but Luna is still the only Reborn leader I've beaten first try......and most of Ep 16 was done with me having no real knowledge of competitive Pokemon (aside from high IV's=good or something basic like that).  I don't know how ep 15 Luna was, but 16+ is apparently a joke except in some monoruns.

    4. Sceptilespy

      Sceptilespy

Like I said. Sounds like more of a you problem then a Luna problem. Tiers don't matter ingame. It's all about strategy and how you overcome an uphill battle. Luna's battle isn't even uphill though. She has a dogshit fodder lead and her entire team is fodder to super effective move/strategy. Scrafty, Primeape, Passimian, like, I said. Just about any fighting type can defeat it. It doesn't even have sand stream, so special water types can do it too.

  17. Swords dance, Outrage on Garchomp is so broken. Especially if it's jolly for speed with a life orb. Another set could be rocky helmet and full defense for the set up. It can seriously mow down one or two pokemon who are not expecting it. And if something comes out that is weak against earthquake or stone edge before you use outrage then it's just free kills.

      Wolfox

I'm not talking about either, yet all of them. You meant a specific situation in the battle that, when the opponent's mons are low and the fairies are gone, will insue in Garchomp being really strong. However, that is much easier said than done. Fairies can be really hard to deal with depending on the one you're dealing with, the opponent will most likely have a strong ice type that can also deal with the chomp because ice type moves are extremely useful, and there are still more options to deal with the land shark. I'm not saying it's a weak mon, but the situation you set up here is meant for Garchomp to do as well as he can and will rarely, if ever, really come to fruition in a battle

    3. Azeria

      Azeria

That's also implying -all- fairies counter Garchomp too, and not just a few which is more accurate. That being said, the rest of what Wolfox stated is pretty accurate.

    4. Wolfox

      Wolfox

hence why I said that depending on the fairie(s) you're facing they can be hard to deal with. a Mimikyu, Tapu or Mega Diancie can push shit in with ease while a Slurpuff or Aromatisse is not as hard to deal with

  18. If I download episode 18 on pen drive and copy it to my pc where all my save files are, the game will play like normal, right?

    1. sdddf4

      sdddf4

I would say so. I did it the other way around (saves on drive, game on computer) and it worked so I'd say that it would work the other way around.

  19. I'm getting so restless being on the forums waiting for the public release. It's especially bad on the day when everyone makes posts relating to episode 18...

  20. Love how people are saying that ivs don't matter much in pokemon battles. If you can be okay with a pokemon of an attack stat that is short by 31 stat points then you'd better be using a modest Heracross or a Jolly Galvantula on your team.

    1. Ojama Yellow

      Ojama Yellow

shrug. I pretty much never care for the ivs of my mons except if its like for competitive, but I do all my comp on showdown so I dont have to care about ingame there. I tend to care a tad bit more about natures since a bad nature can often be more crippling than bad ivs, unless youre talking like the absolutely maximum at 0.

    2. Norm

      Norm

I'm a bit of a loon, so I try to optimize even in-game, but you usually don't need to have Max IVs and optimal natures to go through the maingame. The only time people really care about IVs are in competitive, and most people usually resort to just using a sav/gen tool. Natures and IVs always take a backseat to movesets, obtainability, and typing/matchups ingame anyways.

    3. doombotmecha

      doombotmecha

to reply to the above, I mean isn't it like 15 points on average, not counting guaranteed perfects like for Eggs/Legends?

TBQH being able to see IVs in fangames ruined me. So much time lost resetting for better IVs....don't let the perfect get in the way of the good, kids.

  21. Comparison between Insurgence and Reborn team of easily available pokemon.

Easily available means something that is not a Gible level quest in reborn. Or a beldum level. That kind of stuff.

    Insurgence team:

Blaziken (speed boost from friend Safari), Gyarados, Mega Hydreigon, Garchomp, Metagross, Armor Tyranitar.

    Reborn team:

Emboar, Greninja, Noivern, Magnezone, Nidoking, Granbull.

(Emboar and Magnezone are super tough to get but the team is trash without them)

Yeah, Insurgence tiers are op. And you still struggle to beat bosses in Insurgence even with such a team fully EV trained and some perfect IVs.

Does this make reborn easy or tougher? Because some battles in Reborn are easy while gyms and bosses are taxing. But we don't get op pokemon without a lot of effort...

    1. FairFamily

      FairFamily

Well I would say Reborn is tougher because the variety. With insurgence I feel that once you got your team down with minor changes you can get through most challenges pretty comfortably because they are pretty similar. The game focuses mostly around hyper offence.

This issue I have less with reborn because they try to change the type of challenges all around. So you can never be too comfortable or get your ass kicked. That being said Reborn is also reaching the limits of its challenges.

    2. Zander

      Zander

Hmm so you prefer diversity in your challenges rather than simply using and winning with hyper offensive pokemon. I wonder how old I'll need to be to get that kind of attitude. I just love offense and no other style suits me. Even stuff that stops offense like a pure wall is not okay with me, much less using stall pokemon. This also tends to be the reason for me not liking field effects because it stops me from attacking properly.

    3. laggless01

      laggless01

Mega Salamence wails on nearly everything in Insurgence, tho. You get it pretty late, but before the end of the main storyline iirc.
Insurgence has a lot of non-canonical Mega's (and OP delta mons) it uses against you that get 'optimal' set-up in those challenges, when those same mons can be difficult for a player to use without being overly time-consuming or are available way later in-game, e.g. Delta Volcarona.
Also, if I'm correct, it has a system that auto-levels your opponent to the highest level in your team for some battles, while for others it relies on ramping up the opponent's levels quite drastically to keep you from overleveling too much. Unfortunately, with the races you can grind enough money to to so anyway through your secret base.
Reborn only uses a handful of PULSEs which cannot be caught, while having level caps and limited availability. Suddenly you start to appreciate Kricketune and Trubbish.
On top of that, since field effects, the metagame in Reborn is drastically different from normal games. A run-of-the-mill OU-team could get hammered in Reborn against seemingly lesser mons (e.g. gym battles?) because of those effects. So, it might be comparing apples to oranges overall.
