Ohhh, true, my mistake. Sheer Cold as of Gen VII (and not gen VI as I thought) has fixed 30% accuracy... Pity we still have VI.
-
@Satoshi I think I understand now why we couldn't get Razor Fang to evolve Gligar till Episode 16... This thing is beyond OP early game!
-
Also, if you give Charizard the Wide Lens, then the accuracy of Air Cutter will get to 100% and of Heat Wave up to 99%, which makes it have zero disadvantages vs Flamethrower (unless you find an opponent using Wide Guard, which is highly unlikely!).
-
Took me like a trillion efforts in my bug mono... I hate that tripple double-battle, honestly...
-
I enjoyed her Hippowdon Yawn supporting my Moxie Heracross in the battle vs Fern and Blake. Rendered Haxorus useless, and it had set up a Dragon Dance, so she actually helped! But other than that, Julia derped much less!
-
This did sound like a naughty innuendo. What to expect from someone whose fav mon is Gardevoir. JK JK JK <3

Something changes in the events of Fiore Mansion if you defeat Solaris at Pyrous Mountain. Defeat him--> fight against him (and Orderly John) at Fiore with Julia as a teammate Lose to him--> fight against him (and Orderly John) at Fiore with Florinia as a teammate Also, Florinia gets something done to her. By Sirius. You prolly already know if you read my last installment of my bug monorun.
-
It's a pity that you'll die like a hero to Rocky Helmet anyways.
-
Shhhhh, I'm secretely working for you... It's all so that you get levelled up!
-
@Satoshi Glalie learns Sheer Cold at lvl 61. Leave him at Daycare, walk/bike (A LOT), then Covet (with Zigzagoon/Espurr) a Quick Claw from wild Meowths next to the place where we pick our starter (forget fucking name of it). Eventually you'll outspeed Garchomp and Sheer Cold it to death
-
Sent you pic with exact location on post above. Check my edit. Heracross learns Counter at lvl 19. Common Candy him down to 18 first, if you missed it.
-
You can find one hidden on a rock if you go down the crack (no pun intended) of the grand stairway. Remember the place where you hop down in order to go save Victoria? All the way right on one of the steps you climb down, there is a rock. Talk to it and find the Focus Sash. Edit: @Satoshi
-
I've been a crazy fan of Counter + Sturdy/Focus Sash combos. Heracross can learn Counter by Level up. Here's your motive to finally grind your Heracross up, Satoshi!
-
That's the one side of the coin, indeed! The other one, is that if someone is TOO slow (ahem, that's me), then people might get tired of waiting!

Wow, Zell, that progress, much wow! Congrats on finishing your Psychic mono Edit: @Zellorea when it comes to Terra's team, wait till the AI decides to fuck you up and she starts using Hippowdon BEFORE Excadrill... Then, you'll feel the horror of Sand Rush Excadrill... Also, just wondering, am I being wrong, or my monotype is progressing more slowly than every other monotype run in this Forum? xD

It is this one. However, it will probably be easier to just ask us (all the monotypers) for the pokemon you need and we'll trade it to you. No need to wait ages for someone to hack it in your file.

Bug Monotype run of Reborn (Latest Defeated Leader: Amaria)

I already know that taking out Gardevoir with Ariados' Cross Poison won't work because I will surely get Psychic'ed to oblivion first! xD So, yes, I understand exactly what you mean by that!- 294 replies

Then name her Lioness! xD Cause Chameleon-->Leon-->Lion-->Lioness. I will stop now. I asked for a Larvesta. I don't consider it cheating, it is just "boosting your luck with the Mystery Egg". As long as you use it after the point when you get the Mystery Egg and not earlier, it is OK. I also got myself a Dwebble to breed Counter on it and defeat Solaris' Garchomp. But then, I only used it again when I accessed the Crustle puzzle area, where I could rightfully get it in game. I'd not consider that cheating. Edit: @RedAlert Also, you can ask for any mons necessary to breed moves, if it is absolutely vital for you strategy. I got myself a Mudkip and a Turtwig to breed Wide Guard on my Paras to use vs Charlotte. (I needed Tirtouga too, but got that via a Fossil I dug up myself xD).

Bug Monotype run of Reborn (Latest Defeated Leader: Amaria)

Yes! I'll have mixed feelings when this ends! Well, Ciel is the bane of my existence, but I've managed to defeat her! However, Adrienn shouldn't be that hard (too many Steel and Poison Bugs)... Currently training up to begin with the Devon Arc and finally record it and grab some screenshots too.- 294 replies

Lol, now I am flattered! Good luck with your run and may Shelly, Charlotte and Ciel be merciful. Name your Treeko "Leon". You know, from Chameleon. Or Komodo. I don't know, just throwing out names, lol!
-
I've gotta agree with Wolfox. Training up a mon might be tedious, but you gotta do it at some point to keep a well balanced team. If you keep relying on your strongest pokemon, it will never gain levels till you get the Exp.Share or money to buy rare candies. Besides, I always felt guilty when I wasn't dividing the time between my squad members Oversensitive me, I know, but I wanted all of them to have a chance to shine! (Why, as you prolly have seen in my Bug mono I keep rotating a lot, even if I can win without some of them).

Bug Monotype run of Reborn (Latest Defeated Leader: Amaria)
Jess replied to Jess's topic in Team Showcase
CHAPTER 30: Maginot Line With the proper guidance from expert strategist, Florinia, we establish the first line of defence with her, while Titania looks after Amaria as she is still unconscious and Julia holds the North-East entrances. We can say we are pretty much surrounded, as Solaris walks in like it is his place, from the front door, and demands that we surrender the Sapphire Bracelets and they will retreat, leaving us unharmed. Of course, we have no intention of doing that, so he orders his grunts to attack. First, we have to fight together with Florinia against Meteor Grunts Diana and Kenan, which is pretty much uneventful, even though they have a Noctowl, a Darmanitan, a Golem and a Manectric among others, mons that could potentially give us trouble, but they can't do actually much. After all, they are just grunts. Then, from the front Sirius drags in Fern, pretending that he is taken hostage. We whisper in Florinia's ear about how Fern boasted for siding with the winners at the encounter we had through the Calcenon-Labradorra City barrier, to which she nods and sighs... She knew her brother was an asshole, but couldn't believe he now was a criminal. So, their bluff is revealed and Fern faces us, together with Blake, who managed to breach from Julia's defences and seal her outside the East entrance with an Ice Beam on it from his Walrein. This is expected to be slightly harder than the previous fight... The worst part was that I had to win 3 battles in a row, so I needed a team to cope with all 3 double battles (well, 2, first one could be won by any team I used). My team: Sir Galahad, the Heracross (Male) Jolly/Moxie (Item: Fist Plate) Bullet Seed Close Combat Megahorn Rock Blast Affection, the Leavanny (Female) Quirky/Chlorophyll (Item: Scope Lens) X-Scissor Leaf Blade Fell Stinger Swords Dance Courage, the Armaldo (Male) Jolly/Swift Swim (Item: Sea Incense) Knock Off X-Scissor Aqua Jet Rock Blast Gaia, the Galvantula (Female) Modest/Unnerve (Item: Zap Plate) Thunder Wave Discharge Bug Buzz Hidden Power Ground Humbleness, the Durant (Male) Jolly/Swarm (Item: Ground Gem) Iron Head Crunch X-Scissor Dig Passion, the Volcarona (Male) Timid/Flame Body (Item: Wide Lens) Heat Wave Bug Buzz Hurricane Quiver Dance So, after like a gazillion failed attempts, I assembled a well-rounded team with as much coverage as possible. And because I wanted to humiliate the people who gave me hell, I went for fast hard hitter that can snowball like nothing else. Yes, screw stalling and strategic plays. I was so mad for being unable to defeat these people that I wanted to kill everything they had. And losing all your mons and having to watch Julia 1v1 Solaris' Garchomp is the worst thing ever happened to me. @Wolfox, @HongaarseBeer, if I had to describe all my failed attempts it would take like 10 more pages in this Topic. Also, they can be summed up in the phrase, "get focused by enemies as your teammates use pointless attacks, get swept, then watch as your teammate gets 1v2'ed". OK, without further ado... FIGHT #1 (vs Grunts) --> Not describing it, stuff like Sir Galahad Moxie sweep enhanced by Passion's clean up happened. VS FERN & BLAKE The dumbasses send in Haxorus and Walrein respectively, I send in Heracross and Florinia sends in her Hippowdon, who creates a sandstorm, which isn't particularly beneficial to my Bugs. Heracross OHKO'es Blakes Walrein with Close Combat and gets 1 Moxie boost, but -1 in Defence and Sp.Defence. Haxorus Dragon Dances, but Hippowdon Yawns it. Blake sends in his Rotom-Freezer-something. Haxorus Superpowers my Sir Galahad, but it is not very effective and does about 3/4 of Heracross' HP. Then, Heracross Close Combats Rotom-Freeze, OHKO'ing it, getting another Moxie boost, and now a -2 in Defence and Sp. Defence. Hippowdon Crunches the Haxorus, dealing some damage to it. In the end of turn, Haxorus falls asleep because of Yawn. Blake sends in Mamoswine. Haxorus remains asleep. Another Close Combat OHKO'es Mamoswine, +3 Attack, -3 Defences for Sir Galahad. Another Crunch by Hippowdon, combined with another turn of Sandstorm damage finally takes out Haxorus. This isn't necessarily good, because now Heracross is fragile as glass and is forced to pick one target among two that are not asleep. Oh well. Fern sends in Rhyperior and Blake sends in Weavile. Weavile Ice Shards Sir Galahad (sadly) and takes it out. Then Rhyperior Earthquakes and takes out both Blake's Weavile and Florinia's Hippowdon. Good teamwork Fern! I decide to send in Affection, to take care of Rhyperior. Blake sends in Jynx and Florinia sends in Torterra. Leavanny OHKO'es Rhyperior with a critical Leaf Blade, but then Jynx OHKO'es both Leavanny and Torterra with Blizzard. FML. Fern sends in Scizor and Florinia sends in Breloom. I send in Passion, my Volcarona. A Heat Wave absolutely destroys both Scizor and Jynx. Fern's Roserade and Blake's Froslass come in. Another Heat Wave OHKO'es Froslass, Roserade survives with red HP though and OHKO'es Breloom with Extrasensory. I begin to feel like I'm fighting on my own here. Blake is out of mons and benched as Florinia sends in Ferrothorn. Why not send it in earlier and help me vs these Ice types with Gyro Ball Florinia?... Anyways, another Heat Wave takes out Roserade too. In the next turns Blake's Krookodile and Serperior are taken out by a Bug Buzz and the combined power of Bug Buzz and Gyro Ball. This victory was easy, like every time. Thank God Sir Galahad, Affection and Passion outsped every single thing in Fern's team (well, besides Dragon Dance Haxorus) and Blake's team (well, besides Weavile) and swept them. Then, Fern's last two mons were easy to 2v1. Turns out Moxie Heracross is OP vs Ice types, when a good support, like Yawn Hippowdon, is provided. Also, Volcarona with Heat Wave in a double battle vs Grass (plus Scizor) and Ice specialists is kind of the bane of their existence. Anyways, the big fight is the next one... Julia manages to break through the icy doorblock that Blake's Walrein used to seal her out, and she pushes Blake down the first floor! xD Then, Sirius has his Seviper use Poison Fang on Florinia herself, incapacitating her... But Julia counter attacks and incapacitates Sirius by having her Electrode directly attack him! That's my girl, boom their faces Julia! And now we have to face Solaris with the assistance of Julia! VS SOLARIS & NEW WORLD ORDERLY JOHN Solaris starts with Scizor and John with Whiscash. Julia sends in her Electrode and I send in Sir Galahad. Electrode Thunderbolts Scizor, getting it down to about 60% of its HP. Then, my Heracross Bullet Seeds Whiscash, which hits 3 times and annihilates it, being 4 times effective. Scizor uses Superpower on Heracross, dealing no damage and getting -1 in Attack and Defence. I'm glad with that, let's focus John, since Solaris' Scizor is now rendering itself useless! In the next turn, John sends in his Kecleon. Electrode Thunderbolts Scizor again taking down to low yellow HP and Sir Galahad Close Combats Kecleon to oblivion (+2 Attack now, -1 Defences), before Electrode tanks easily another Superpower by Scizor. John sends in Slowbro. Electrode destroys Scizor with another Thunderbolt, bringing tears to my eyes, because we now lose the advantage of having a useless, self-debuffed pokemon inside on behalf of Solaris. Heracross Megahorns Slowbro to oblivion as well, getting his Attack to a humungous +3 thanks to Moxie. My troubles begin then. Solaris sends in Tyranitar and John sends in Eelektross, which is a no-weakness mon that hit hard as hell and tanks everything. Tyranitar also creates a sandstorm. Electrode for some reason Thunderbolts the Eelektross, doing nothing, then Sir Galahad OHKO'es Tyranitar with Close Combat. +4 Attack, -2 Defences. And, of course, John's Eelektross will destroy my Heracross with its own Thunderbolt. Solaris sends in his Sand Rush Excadrill, which of course is a deja vu from Terra's fight. He must be her godfather or something. I send in Humbleness, my Durant. Excadrill (of course) outspeeds and Swords Dances! Calm down for God's sake. Electrode keeps trying to Thunderbolt Eelektross in vain... Then, my Durant Digs and gets saved by Eelektross' menacing Flamethrower. However, the Sandstorm damage, combined with the damage Electrode had sustained by the Scizor, finally take down the lovely electrified ball of doom... RIP you will be missed (thank God you didn't make it Explode in my face, or I'd murder you Julia). In the next turn, Julia sends in Rotom-Fan, which gets immediately annihilated by Excadrill's (Swords Dance boosted) Rock Slide, which however misses my steel ant, who is still buried underground. Then,Durant uses a Ground Gem-boosted Dig on Excadrill, bringing it to red HP. Sadly though, my Humbleness gets heroically murdered by Eelektross' Flamethrower. I send in Courage, my Armaldo, and Julia sends in her own Eelektross! Courage uses Aqua Jet and finishes off Excadrill (finally!), while Julia's Eelektross tanks easily a Flamethrower by John's one. Then, Julia's Eelektross uses Acid Spray on John's Eelektross, getting its Sp. Defence to -2. Solaris sends in Gyarados and I try to Rock Blast it with my Courage. However, a Waterfall by Gyarados will OHKO my Armaldo, while (for some weird reason) Julia's and John's Eelektross'es exchange Acid Spray and Thunderbolt respectively. (Julia, please light the flying fish up with a Thunderbolt, ffs...) I send in Gaia, my Galvantula. Gaia uses Discharge, which deals respectable damage to John's Eelektross (thanks to -4 Sp. Defence debuff) and OHKO'es Gyarados. However it does almost nothing to Julia's Eelektross (it's now at about 40% HP). John's Eelektross then gets finished off by a Flamethrower from Julia's one. Solaris sends in Mandibuzz and John sends in Magnezone. Gaia Discharges again, and gets Mandibuzz to red, does next to nothing to Magnezone and Eelektross though. However, Mandibuzz Foul Plays and finishes off Julia's Eelektross. Then Magnezone uses Flash Cannon on Gaia, getting her to just below half HP. But then, Julia sends in her Magnezone too! Gaia Discharges again, removing Mandibuzz, and (oh-what-a-surprise) deals no damage to the 2 Magnezones. John's one Flash Cannon's Gaia again, finishing off my Galvantula, and then Julia's one Thunderbolts, dealing about 25% of the other one's HP, which is now at just below half health. Finally, Solaris sends in the raidboss, his murdering Garchomp. It is the only thing they have left, but it is quite OP! I send in Passion, my Volcarona and Hurricane the dumb Dragon, who doesn't gets confused. However, Stone Edge proves its Stone Miss nickname and fails to hit my Volcarona! Then, Magnezone Flash Cannon's the shark for negligible damage (now at just above half HP), but lowers its Sp. Defence by 1 stage. In the next turn, another Hurricane deals more damage this time, but fails (again) to confuse, and this time Stone Edge destroys Passion... Magnezone Flash Cannons again, getting Garchomp down in red. I send in Affection, my Leavanny, who outspeeds and finishes off Garchomp with a (needlessly) critical Leaf Blade! Battle is won! The Meteors try to burn the house with Sirius' Chandelure. Sirius reveals that he was the one who burnt down the Belrose Manse (in order to get the Sapphire Bracelets from their former owner, Laura), and not Charlotte and her Vulpix. Hence, he is the murderer of Saphira, Laura and Charlotte's parents. However, Titania's Excadrill Fissures and turns the Gym into a Swimming pool straight out of the Olympic Games, preventing Sirius from incinerating it! Team Meteor's officials realize that they lost and retreat. Then Amaria wakes up, but she has suffered a memory loss, forgetting everything since before the PULSE Tangrowth crisis in Obsidia... This gets Titania desperate, because she is back into the living lie that her life was before Amaria discovered about Titania's true feelings for their relationship. Titania then flies off on her Skarmory towards her Gym probably, at Tourmaline desert. She also takes the Sapphire Bracelets with her, to keep them safe from Team Meteor. However, she is a bit suspicious. Didn't assist us in fighting, apart from when everything was over, and we can't be sure that she gives false intel to Team Meteor during their secret meetings. But oh well... We'll see eventually which side is she on... In the next chapter, we will battle Ciel and win our next badge to enable Fly outside of battle! And return to a (changed?) Reborn City... Till then, enjoy everyone!- 294 replies
