Pokemon in Space [IC Chapter #03]

Emmanuel tugged Betani right away, preventing her from taking another step. "Our mission was to locate the core of the nexus, wasn't it? We know nothing about the place. Any detour to our planned destination may end up being the right path. Fighting the Absol is an unnecessary risk." "It knows more about the place than we do. Even if it's something as superstitious as 'sensing disasters,' it is better than us poking in the blind," his eyes gradually set on Betani's, "so, we're going to check it out." He released the grip, "I can't blame you for wanting to brute-force your way through, though. It's how Radovan and I got this far into the cave, after all." Emmanuel gave a sly smile and then turned his attention back to the crack. Upon a second glance, blasting it wide open was probably unnecessary. He quietly followed the Sableye into the crack. -

"Well, either disaster finds us or we find it first," Emmanuel jokingly replied to Cathode. The other group came to view, and he quickly waved at them. "Hi guys! We have good news and bad news. The good news is that we've found the way up; it's in the chamber in the bottom-right corner of the map. The bad news is that we have to help an Absol out to gain passage. That is, we have to find the roots of the disaster it's sensing." "Speaking of which, it pointed us to this direction. Seeing that all the other paths have been explored, this corner has to be the place... " Emmanuel's attention gradually shifted to the Sableye. He sighed, and then said "we appreciate your concern, but we also have no choice. Sorry." "Then... This seems to be it. To prevent ourselves from getting trapped after entering, let's blast the hole wide open first. What do you think, everyone?" He asked. -

Emmanuel pulled Radovan's hand, gesturing to go along with all this. He then lead the way down corridor 20, waiting at the end of it for Absol to guide them to the right corridor. -

"That can't be. The passage clearly leads to the surface. What you want to tell us is... that there's something that we need to take care of first below us, and that if we don't do that and go to the surface right away, it would spell disaster for us," Emmanuel deducted. "You may inform us of disaster... But do you know how to prevent it?" He pressed the Absol. "I guess the answer's pretty clear. We'll help you out," he smiled. "The path down is likely to be at the end of the corridors to the west, seeing that it's the only remaining unexplored area on the map. Shall we go?" -

Emmanuel halted on his tracks. "I guess it wouldn't hurt to check that one first," he nodded and started making his way to Corridor 20. He tried not to pay attention to Cathode's nervousness, because somehow he felt that mentioning it would make her break down like Suzie over there. He also tried his hardest not to give her a second look, afraid that it would give his mild concern away. -
If You Could Make Your Own Mega Evolution Mk. II

Mega Shiftry Type: Grass/Dark Ability: Kamikaze - A Tailwind kicks up on the user's side upon their entry, lasting four turns. (Can't override a preexisting Tailwind) HP: 90 Atk: 100 -> 130 (+30) Def: 60 -> 70 (+10) SpA: 90 -> 120 (+30) SpD: 80 -> 90 (+10) Spe: 80 -> 100 (+20) BST: 480 -> 580 (+100) The wicked guardian, Shiftry, taps into the divinity befitting for a shinto god, and summons heavenly winds to turn the tide of the battle! Mega Shiftry is a peculiar Pokemon that excels exceptionally at one thing - cleaning up. While its stats are all over the place, it possesses an incredible ability in Kamikaze, carving it an incredible niche in Multi formats and turning it into a short-lived sweeper. Its impressive mixed offenses allows it to run either a special sweeping set with Nasty Plot or a physical sweeping set with Swords Dance, with both packing serious destructive potentials! On the other hand, in Multi formats, it provides Tailwind with a click of a button, guaranteeing its set up (can't be shut down by Taunt). Outside of cleaning up, it may also be an emergency stop against opposing weather sweepers that take advantage of their abilities boosting speed under certain weathers, such as Excadrill and Kingdra. Unfortunately, Tailwind's short duration greatly limits its ability to sweep, meaning that once it's done setting up a SD or a NP, it would have between two to three turns of Tailwind left, and this further faces issues with opponents capable of simply stalling the turns away, mainly those packing the dreaded Protect. Its typing also leaves it vulnerable to a variety of priority moves, such as Mach Punch, Ice Shard, and opposing Mega Pinsir's Aerilate-boosted Quick Attack, which may all spell doom for the heavenly Tengu. All in all, Mega Shiftry is a transformation / bastardization of Speed Boost sweepers, presenting more options but much less longevity. As for allies, it's mostly anything goes, as you wouldn't want to bring it out so early in the battle. Though, in regards to anti-priority, Tapu Lele is the ideal partner for Mega Shiftry, with its Psychic Terrain shielding it from nasty priority moves. Pokemon with pivot moves also make great allies for Mega Shiftry, allowing it to make its grand entry more easily. Sample Sets: Tora! Tora! Tora! (Nasty Plot Sweeper) Dirty Guardian (Swords Dance Sweeper) What I could've done is giving Shiftry access to U-turn (and honestly it would fit perfectly), but I'd like it to be the one thing keeping Shiftry away from glory. Having access to U-turn would mean being able to "pass" the Tailwind more safely in Singles, and it would still want to use it to ride the winds and escape from the battlefield as the Tailwind nears its end. The main difference this makes is that it gives Mega Shiftry much more flexibility. So, what do you guys think? -

"Mm, we won't be able to revive it unless we find a more potent variation of the water," Emmanuel swiped his A-Comm into the water, collecting about 300 mL of it. "I do have a theory, though, but we won't be able to test it by just standing here. Let's go down the corridor, and maybe if we meet another one of those crystal walls, we can test it out." He took the lead walked down the corridor. -

"Hey, hey. It's no problem," Emmanuel responded to the hug. He turned to the source of the Sing, and finally saw Cathode. "Oh, there you are, Cathode! How has things been on your side of things? For us, Nicaea here has been a great help in tearing down the annoying crystal walls blocking our way. Radovan also caught a Woobat. Unfortunately, we still haven't found the way up. Though, I suspect that it may very well be around this corridor." -

Emmanuel swiped the P-AZ Mechamon from the sleeping Sableye. "Got it!" He then quickly put the Mechamon into his bag. "A way to chip its health... Nicaea, use Absorb on the Sableye!" Action: Nicaea uses Absorb (70 Attack Power) on the Sableye. -

Emmanuel's friendly smile quickly turned to a frown after seeing that the Sableye actually think that it could take the Mechamon first before completing the rest of the deal. He may be kind to Pokemon, but he wasn't kind at all to scammers. "I see." He said, with an abnormal amount of coldness. In just a snap, he retracted his arm and swiftly dunked the Mechamon into his bag, all while rolling sideways to evade the loudly-telegraphed Bite. -

Emmanuel sighed and decided to re-intervene. The Sableye hadn't eaten the P-AZ Mechamon, so clearly it found its value greater than just food. He took out the Gabite Mechamon from the bag and waved it gently before the Sableye, and said lightly, "let's trade." He walked slowly toward it and knelt down with the Mechamon in his right hand. He made sure that it was in clear sight. -

Emmanuel was mildly disappointed, but it seemed that Radovan got the right idea. He put the Oran Berry back into his bag and slowly backed away from Sableye after receiving Radovan's prod. -
Halley felt much better after the healing, though being that close to death was not a pleasant experience for her at all. She thanked the lovely healers that saved her, and quickly got back to business. Action: Halley uses Blaster - Paralyzer on Bel Lahmu C, applying a status effect that lowers their STR, RES, and DEX by [SYN]/2 = 3 for three turns. [DEX]*2 = 14% chance to move first (Lightspeed Justice Delivery). [Two-turn cooldown] Active Cooldowns: Blaster - Sparkling Suppressor: Ready next turn. Blaster - Paralyzer: Two turns of cooldown left.

Emmanuel held his breath upon seeing the Sableye. That Mechamon sure was familiar. He took a look at his bag. The P-AZ Mechamon was coincidentally lost. Of course, the rest of the puzzle pieced itself together. The Sableye stole it somehow, though he wasn't sure when that happened. He turned to look at Radovan for a second, but then decided to take things to his own hands. He took out an Oran Berry from his bag, and squat down. He put the Oran Berry on the ground before him and gestured for the Sableye to come. -
"not interested" is "not interested." No matter how much you give me, I'll still not be interested in a relationship between me and a male Gardevoir. In hindsight you could coerce me to do so if you are horrible enough, so there's that I guess?

Mega Lapras Type: Water/Ice Ability: Safe Travels - As long as this Pokemon is on the field, at the end of every turn, the field is cleansed of hazards, the opposing party's evasion is lowered by 1 stage, and the opposing party loses their Screens/Safeguard. (Essentially, automatic Defog at the end of every turn) New Moves: Calm Mind (TM) HP: 130 Atk: 85 Def: 80 -> 100 (+20) SpA: 85 -> 115 (+30) SpD: 90 -> 110 (+20) Spe: 60 -> 90 (+30) BST: 535 -> 635 (+100) Mega Lapras takes on the role as the leading ship of a mighty armada! With its new ability, Safe Travels, it becomes a premier defogger! But wait, there's more! The automatic Defog means that Mega Lapras' accuracy is essentially constantly boosted, which opens a lot of options that would previously be regarded as unreliable, such as Thunder, Zap Cannon, Hydro Pump, Blizzard, and maybe even Iron Tail! Its new TM, Calm Mind, allows it to capitalize on the newfound niche and become a dangerous late-game sweeper! Its new bulk also grants it fearsome endurance, almost matching that of Cresselia's. In its essence, Mega Lapras is an improved Cresselia that gears more toward the offensive. Unfortunately, Mega Lapras also sees a few problems that bar its path to stardom. For one, its middling speed leaves it prone to fast attackers, making a 4-Attack/3-Attack+Rest or CM hard to utilize, unless given Sticky Webs support. For another, while its special attack is passing-grade, it being a Mega means that it starts off unboosted. In spite of all the high BP moves Lapras is likely to throw out, it may prove to be an attacker that falls short without the aid of CM. Lastly, while its defensive stats as well as its speed are fantastic for a tank, the lack of reliable recovery means that it will have to utilize Rest often. As for teammates, teammates that appreciate the removal of hazards benefit the most from Lapras' Safe Travels, such as Volcarona, Alolan Ninetales, Dragonite, Kyurem-Black, and Blacephalon. Teammates that can deal with Lapras' weaknesses are also much welcome, such as Landorus-T (Fighting-types, Rock-types, and Electric-types) and Decidueye (Grass-types, Fighting-types, Electric-types). Lastly, Pokemon that offer Sticky Webs support helps offensive Mega Lapras greatly. Tapu Fini also gets a special mention for granting Mega Lapras protection from status. Sample Sets: The Icebreaker (Offensive CM) I swear I'm not a blue, seafaring Cresselia! (Defensive CM) -

Emmanuel looked at the crystal wall. It didn't seem to be any different from the previous one. "Anyway, now we know what to do. Nicaea, let's go!" Action: Nicaea uses 6x Growth and then uses Acid. -

Radovan's logic was rather strange for Emmanuel. It was like, having a Zangoose and a Seviper, and letting them engage in a pit fight against each other. It'd make total sense if it were in the wilds, but... "Come on, you're better than this. Don't stretch the same violence in the wilds into your party." Emmanuel frowned. "And besides... Woobat probably hasn't seen a Tyranitar in its entire life. It would enjoy no vengeance whatsoever from the move." -

It -might- be done now, though I might still add a few changes here and there. -
Halley's visions went blurring with static. "This... This can't be it... " She mustered the strength to look at her surroundings. The gunslinger was in about as much peril as she was, yet he was still putting up a fight, so she couldn't just let up so easily, right? She open fired at the sole Dragon Tooth Beast that she had suppressed. Action: Blaster - Splendid Star (Basic Attack) on DT Beast A for 1d8 + [SYN] = 1d8 + 6 (+1d4 for every 4 DEX advantage) damage. Active Cooldowns: Blaster - Paralyzer (Ready next turn) Blaster - Sparkling Suppressor (One turn left)

Emmanuel recovered from the blow, surprised by the explosion generated by the attack. He took a look at the others, seeming to be relatively unscathed. "Alright!" He jumped up in excitement. Though, what Radovan was about to do next completely stunned him. "W-What are you doing?!" It seemed to be working, but it just felt all so reckless to the boy. -

Emmanuel took a look at the unscathed crystal, and concluded that it seemed to radiate some sort of shield against energy attacks. "These crystals radiate an energy shield. Maybe if we use a powerful attack, we'll be able to tear through the shield." "Alright, Nicaea. Use Growth six times, and then unleash Acid on the crystal!" Action: Nicaea uses Growth x6 and then uses Acid on the wall.
