As the other have said, it is completely random. Saving directly in fornt of him and pressing the F12 button helps keep is going, as that is a quick reset.

It's just a matter of coding, I think. I want to say that each character no-matter the gender gets the same dialog, so going with Gender Neutral ones is the safest bet.

I always found that taking out Zel's Pokemon made this fight easier, since they(?) have the stronger Pokemon that cause more of a headache is left alone. As long as you can outspeed Taka's afterwards, it become trivial. (Also, happy 700th post to me!)

I really am not a big fan Ted Cruz, since his policies and opinions don't really match my own among other things,* but I really have to give him credit when it comes to the Drumpf. For sticking to his guns and not endorsing him, especially after he insulted the looks of his wife and insinuated that Cruz's father was linked to the JFK assassination, he really showed that he wasn't a sheep who was submitting to the playground bully. Either way, this entire presidential race has been an embarrassment for all parties (literally and figuratively) and I really can't wait for it to end. *(I'm also not a huge fan of his acting skills, but that was a while back. Maybe he would sound better now.)

Scrafty should be available at this point, which swept Shade's team after several attempts. Shade was one of the hardest battles in Reborn for me, so keep trying.

IV and EV training isn't necessary for normal Reborn in my opinion, what you need is a good team instead. If you have a full team that has good synergy, most gyms can be beaten with relative ease. Along with that, knowing how to either destroy a field, or make it work for you can change the entire battle. Going into Reborn, I raged during the forth gym, only to come back with a better understanding on how to fight a leader. Now, I can take out most gym leaders, and even managed to beat the last one available with a crippled team on my fist shot. So long story short, take the conventional wisdom of "Use Pokemon You Like" and throw it in the trash, because Noibat isn't going to help you.
