keyboard problems will cause this. restarting the pc usually helps, try reconnecting your keyboard and cleaning it a bit

are you sure that you've found nim in all locations at route 4? that npc shouldn't be here if you've already defeated nim because that's the place you battle her

patch your game with patch 10 and if that doesn't work then upload your save file
