  1. My god. Weenie....what have you done. Also since this is a revival, I am reserving the Calvin and Hobbes series, along with the aforementioned Astrix series. You all need to laugh more, and laugh at intelligent things, not inane ones.
  2. Mmh, seems like the right time to chime in. First off, noting again that save for Johto, none of the regions' legendaries actually had any particular connection to the mythos of the real world places their regions were based on. So it is not implausible for Indic myths to exist as a basis here. And to give an opinion, I know of no lunar bats with third eyes in any of our mythology. Bats themselves are rarely mentioned, and have no ties with any major epics or legends. The concept of a third eye is associated with Shiva, and he is not connected with bats either. We can conclude with reasonable certainty, then, that MoonBat's forehead symbol is purely aesthetic and may hint at a Psychic type, and may have associations with astrology rather than with Vedic mythology at any rate. Lions, however, are significant. India being the only place where lions as well as tigers coincide, both feature greatly as symbols in many legends, and both appear as the steeds of goddesses in particular. Narashimaswami is another noteworthy presence of leonine figures. It is still a bit of a stretch to associate Mega Pyroar with Indic myth, as it doesn't particularly draw any connection yet...apart from being a lion, of course. If the connection to Indic legend had to be made, I'd have gone for things like eagles, cobras, and elephants, which feature in myths more than bats.
  3. If you're actually interested, there are a great deal of unsung heroes in Indian history and politics. Enough blathering about Nehru and Gandhi has been done by bigits and charlatans; neither are really that great of a human character, not even the much-vaunted Gandhi. I suggest you read, read and read more to understand the true position of India...if you are that interested. I don't blame you if you aren't. Most of my own peers and countrymen aren't either. Anyways, to remark on something I noted earlier...what do you think is the reason behind resolution? I have asked this afore, and only Hunter responded. This is a topic that I want to talk more about, so I ask it again, in the hopes that more voices are heard before I state my own notions.
  4. Happy birthday, Swims! Wishing you a great year ahead!
  5. I like Glotarion. Sounds nice, and powerful yet goofy. And yes, Weenie, you're tight. It is not meant to mimic the 'official' style; I did say that it was just a casual pencil sketch h of what I had conceived. And yeah, that necklace/ruff was basically following on Popplio's neck-ruff thing. I added the feinge of 'hair' around the head and a moustache because why not; everything is better with a moustache. The paler spots on its legs and back are just for some detail; I didn't think it was 'overdetailed', because otherwise the thing looked rather too plain (although granted that Popplio itself is plain in its colour scheme.) I thought of giving it large tusks or fangs, but did not for two reasons: first, it is a sea lion and NOT a seal or walrus, which I am very particular on distinguishing (honestly it annoys me when people treat them as if they are one and the same; they are only as alike as dolphins and whales are: related closely but yet very different.) And second, I did not want to rip off Walrein. Also yeah. A man has got to be determined. We don't do sissy things like use traces and erasers 'round here.
  6. Hello and welcome to Reborn, Rai! I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay.
  7. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember Michael, that is, mde, making a book review/recommendation thread a while ago. Granted, that one went a little...dormant...quite some time back, but even so, this would be a redundant topic unless it is specifically aimed at recommending books for you, CG, and not for all. In which case: I don't know what kind of person you are to appreciate more serious literature, but I would recommend adding a category for Fact or Non-fiction. It could contain subcategories for all kinds of good books on Economics, Political history, geography, botanical and zoological works, chronicles, and so on. I'm also surprised you didn't add a special category for Humour. It's important to laugh.
  8. Oh, thanks, weenie. I appreciate the inputs. Also, here's a casual coloured pencil sketch. It is my idea of what Popplio can end up looking like in his final form: Help me think of a name!
  9. New topic is too cumbersome and specific, IMO, not to mention that it'll shut this one, which I am somewhat iffy about. Maybe someone can just ask Godot to modify the first post and make a nice large bold one about format of spoilers?
  10. Poor Torterra. It should have had Solid Rock as a HA and gotten access to Shell Smash. It'd have been excellent then. But yes, I suggest the following simple format: [Revealed: Name or label of new info, but no specifics] [spoilered text] As an example: Revealed: Starter Evos / Player Characters / Region Map / New Gameplay trailer / Evil Team / etc.
  11. A bit absolutist, but I agree in spirit. I too wait for confirmation of the starters' types, though I would say that anticipation holds equally true for the legendaries' types.
  12. You're still off your rockers, all of you. Weenie?
  13. I see some considerable activity in this thread, but I can't be bothered to read through 11 pages of its context, so I'll just answer the titular question. I enjoy Reborn greatly, but it contains some things, which although are an essential and frankly interesting parts of the plot, are nevertheless the winners of my discontent. I allude to the murdery parts. I am of the school of thought whose attitude towards murder is thoroughly bourgeois, in that I simply do not approve of it, and do not think it can be justified in any circumstances. So I'll be excused for not liking Solaris's and Titania's actions, for instance, (and also Sapphira's and the entirety of Meteor's as a whole, but at least they were not as explicitly shown killing people, and Meteor is supposed to be evil anyway.) I concede that they were integral to the game, and that in fact Reborn could not be a what it is, i.e., a mature game, if it did not have such blatant and gruesome death as a part of its plot (it is in fact all the more enjoyable because its villainous groups are not sissies who don't actually do anything physically 'evil'. This logic still does not excuse Sapphira and Titania, in my view, however.) But though Reborn is not to be adjudged alongside standard Pokémon games (despite it actually being one), and in spite of the fact that I do not dislike the game at all due to these instances, that is the closest I can come to answering the question of what I do not like in this game. I suppose it is hardly unexpected of me, though. Before I am swamped by protests of my disapproval of Titania and Sapphira, I will say that it's purely an opinion of mine, and thus is inherently neither 'right' nor 'wrong'. I understand their motivations for their murderous acts, especially in Sapphira's case, for it is no more than self-defense against terrorists who would have killed her family otherwise, or, when raiding the Meteor base, could have fled and reported to Lin or otherwise precipitated the situation. In short, Sapphira in particular can be 'grey-area-ed' for murdering the Meteor guards and the ones in the boats on the lake. But Titania is somewhat different, and she also carried the whole Miss-Mass-Murderess trope a bit too far. I doubt she had a reason to eviscerate the defeated Meteor grunts and cultists who were clearly no longer a threat to her, at least after the player joins her and she is no longer alone with only one Pokemon versus them, considering the fact that they could not have done anything to worsen her situation if they had been left alive, for Taka, who was the sole operative in charge at the WTC, was already aware of the player and Titania and was in fact surreptitiously trying to have them accomplish their goals without him having to oppose them. I suppose this mainly means that I don't like Titania's actions in the game, which I deem unnecessarily violent. And as for ZEL, I only have one thing to say: The Lord Magnezone giveth and the Lord Magnezone taketh away. Praise be to the Magnet Lord!
  14. He was a goddamn plague and it's an open secret that he was a philanderer to boot. Someone ought to tell you about Edwina Mountbatten someday, and when I have more energy, I should rant about the horror of India's political history since our independence from the brutish-- I mean, the British. Indira Gandhi was the only good one out of the line, and able as well. Notice that she was conveniently removed, as were both her sons, and an Italian became the string-puller for decades, entrenching us with the worst kind of corruption . These people sell the country for their own gain. Don't believe what the history books tell you about other nations' political backstory and the character of its 'leaders'. If you want a True Hero™, please direct your attention to Subhash Chandra Bose. There was the best son of India, in my frank opinion. Anyhow, this is not primarily a place to discuss politics. I would have started that, but I don't want to be frustrated every day by reminders of my country's plight even here, the one place where I can find temporary comfort in talking of Magnezones and other assorted diversions.
  15. No surprise there. But anyhow, yaaaaay clapclapclap
  16. Happy birthday, Kam, and wish you a great year ahead!
  17. Pretty much what Nick said. Also, the fact that Choice Specs Modest Volcanion can do about 48% to Latios and Azumarill with a resisted Steam Eruption is terrifying. The burn chance doesn't improve things. All the standard checks to special attacking Fire and Water types falter against this thing; one needs a fat Latias or increasingly harder checks/counters to avoid having it dictate your plays. I am having loads of fun with Specially Defensive RestTalk Mega Gyarados, though. Laughs at Volcanion, doesn't care a damn about burns, can DD in its face and eventually kill it with Waterfall, which ignores Volc's Water Absorb thanks to Mold Breaker. Makes for a very difficult-to-stop late game win con, as well, if you get stuff like Keldeo and Ferrothorn out of the way.
  18. Quite accurate, actually. If you notice their costumes, they resembled knights or crusaders in BW, with their white hoods and robe-like tunics. In BW2, they seem like a cross between a ninja and a pirate, with their black garb and masks/veils. We even get actual ninjas in the Shadow Triad.
  19. Congratulations, and wish you all the best.
  20. Reminds me of a joke a friend of mine once made about Unova's plot: BW Plasma: "Hi! We're PokéPETA! Consider your Pokemon's freedom!" BW2 Plasma: "F*** it, we're terrorists now. Give."
  21. Yes, I am familiar with Jawaharlal Nehru. I am highly familiar with every aspect of Indian political history, making something of a specialized study outof it. And you ask me where my cynicism comes from. Why bring up Nehru? That man is responsible, among other things, for nearly seventy years of corruption, a political quagmire, absolute riving of the community spectrum and for being the start of nearly five decades of nepotistic, strangling, crippling 'government'. You can say that I have little respect for Nehru as both leader and person, however high his supposed morality -and naivety- may have been.
  22. Happy birthday, AR! Wishing you a great year ahead!
  23. 1024, what a nice number. I like my multiples of 4, especially if they are also multiples of 16.

      Shamitako

256 is 16 squared, so I suppose you must like that as well

Of course, I'm more partial to 3, 7, 11 and multiples thereof

Oh yea, but I don't much like odd numbers, though Nietzsche is of the opinion that the Gods delight in them.

  24. What you say reminds me of this: In that what you say is perfectly just, Hushie. Also, thanks for the appreciation!
