"Sing with me a song
Of birthrights and love
The light scatters to the sky above
Dawn breaks through the gloom
White as a boneLost in thoughts, all alone"
- sung by Azura, a part of Lost in Thoughts All Alone from Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright
The only part of Fates that I've played is Birthright. I love the Traditional Japanese vs Medieval Europe Theme in this Fire Emblem installment. This game focused on Corrin, the protagonist, siding on the Traditional Japanese side, Hoshido, in order to fight for his Birthright as he really was from Hoshido. This part of Fates was the more lighthearted side; the only reason why the party is going to Nohr is to stop Nohr from conquering Hoshido. In this side, Corrin tries to find peace with Nohr without bloodshed of his Nohrian siblings, but unfortunately, this cannot be; it's sad that both Xander and Elise die. Still, I liked the mood of the game, although I wasn't too keen on spending the entire game on going to Nohr and a third of the chapters was only about venturing deeper to Nohr. I liked the characters of Hoshido, they were all quite colorful, especially the cute and kind Kaden. My favorite character from Fates is Azura though; she's just adorable and graceful.

to call it the more lighthearted side is not fully true if I might add. there are some really dark moments in the game. while those are mainly in the story it really pushes the limit of it
SpoilerBeing able to lose Kaze and Elise getting killed by Xander trying to stop the fight. truely sad moments

After reading a review of the Japanese version of Echoes, I can't wait to play it. I'm hoping May 19 comes sooner.

This display name feels a lot more formal. Bonne journée, everyone!

"You, my friend, are a victim of disorganized thinking. You are under the unfortunate impression that just because you run away you have no courage; you’re confusing courage with wisdom." - Wizard of Oz from The Wizard of Oz
I really enjoyed the novel 'The Wizard of Oz', although I think this quote is from the movie. It was about a young girl named Dorothy, who was whisked into an unknown land. All she wanted was to return home, but the journey she had to take was a very long one. She was accompanied by a Scarecrow who wanted a brain, a Tin Woodman who wanted a heart, and a Lion who wanted courage. Together, they journeyed along Oz, facing many challenges, but they were able to conquer it. As it turned out, they already had the things they wanted; they just didn't realize they had it. I liked the adventurish feel of this novel, as well as the many values that accompanied it. I loved how the world was built to be both unique and peculiar, and I can say that it would be cool to go to Oz, if possible.

That feeling when unpreparedness strikes you and you just bluff your way in a debate round, and you manage to barely win.

It was a debate that asked if knowing the time and day of your death would be a good thing. I was on the opposition side, meaning that I did not support knowing it.
And yeah, I joined the debate organization in my school both to improve myself and to gain credentials for my students (which is needed to get a good rank)

“You can't achieve anything if you don't make a move. Love is an all-out assault.” - Marika Tachibana from Nisekoi
“In the end, mustering the courage to confess is up to the people concerned.” - Shuu Maiko from Nisekoi
“There's no law that says you can't go after someone just because he's already in love with someone else.” - Ruri Miyamoto from Nisekoi
Nisekoi was a fun shonen romantic comedy manga. Its main characters are Raku Ichijou, who is the son of a yakuza head, and Chitoge Kirisaki, the daughter of a gang boss. They are forced to be in a relationship for three years in order to have peace between the two gangs. But Raku Ichijou likes another girl, Kosaki Onodera (who also likes him back secretly), and wishes that she was the one who held the key to the locket which was given to him by a childhood love (but he doesn't know since he forgot the person's face and name along the years). As it turns out, not only Onodera and Chitoge hold possible keys to the locket, two other girls claiming to be his fiance, Tachibana Marika and Yui Kanakura, also hold keys. There are also two other girls that add to the harem, Seishiro Tsugumi, Chitoge's bodyguard, and Haru Onodera, Kosaki's little sister. The manga mostly focuses on the interactions of the main cast, and shows different character developments as the story progresses. The main cast later on discovers the truth of the past (ten years ago), and who the promised girl was. The manga ends with Raku and ???'s wedding. Overall, it was a fun manga with its many antics, the different girls' quirks, and the comedic and serious situations they got themselves in.

Yeah. I know; it was sad when both of them realized near the end that they could have been together, but it was already too late since Raku already fell for Chitoge. I also liked Marika Tachibana at that part; it's kinda sad that she still worked hard even if she knew that her feelings will only be unrequited.
Anyway, I still like Kosaki Onodera more compared to Chitoge both because of her personality and backstory, but I still loved the ending especially the scenes shown before the wedding of Raku and Chitoge.
-
Did you read the bonus chapter that was added to the final tankoubon volume? It involved Raku's and Chitoge's kid meeting up with Kosaki's for the first time as teenagers.
It put a slightly different spin on the ending 229 chapter, as it turned out everyone drifted apart to the point where their kids didn't even know any of them had been friends in their youth.

"In detective work, there's no winning or losing...there's no being superior or inferior...That's because...there is always one and only one truth." - Shinichi Kudo from Detective Conan
Here's the detailed account for Detective Conan. Detective Conan is greatly my favorite thriller/mystery manga as it's cases are lively and keep the reader unsuspecting at every turn. The main character of this manga is Shinichi Kudo and the opening sequence is special for this; he goes with his childhood friend (love interest) Mouri Ran in an amusement part and there he sneaks up on people he saw doing shady deals. Turns out, he is discovered and then he is forced to take a drug which makes his body younger by 10 years. He decides to hide his identity and change his name to Edogawa Conan so that he can avoid the 'Black Men' (the ones doing the deal) and begins solving cases under his new identity in the home of the father of Ran who is a detective. With this, he tries to pursue the Black Men to return back into his body, and currently the story hasn't ended yet at 900~ chapters.

Detective Conan is pretty fun, as it scratches the "whodunnit" itch I get from time to time, but don't want to commit 20 hours to solving an Agatha Christie novel, but rather want to spend a few hours reading Conan.
Though while I do like the series, the cases are quite hit and miss, some being quite fun and challenging, while others are frustrating due to having unsolvable parts to them. Naturally, the Whodunnit is always solvable, but often the howdunnit and whydunnit aren't solvable, which feels like cheating since one wastes time trying to anyway... I believe that a mystery author and a reader ought to have a contract, where the reader can always rely on the author to construct mysteries in such a way that all parts of the puzzle are solvable, something I lack from Conan...
Otherwise, it's a fun series.

"Listen to me, Clover. No matter what happens, you can never lose hope. You have to remember what's most important, and that's to have faith, and to have love. If you can remember all of those, that'll bring you good luck. Snake -- I mean, your brother--... He's not dead. He's alive, somewhere... I'm sure of it. You've just gotta believe in that..." - Junpei Tenmyouji from Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors
Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors is a Visual Novel game for the DS. It's story revolves on Junpei as he tries to survive the 'Nonary Game' along with 8 other people who were abducted with him, including his childhood friend. Choices and decisions are important parts of the game (these are found in the Escape the Room part and the Narration part) as they designate which of the 6 endings you will end up in. This is quite an enjoyable game as it has good replay value as you need to conquer at least 2 endings in order to get the full story of the game while 4 other endings reflect how being trapped in a ship with so many bad things going on ruin people and make them murderers. I loved the puzzles for their difficulty, the good aesthetics, and characters who were well written and had good motivations and backstories. You'll be shocked to know that everything in this game is connected in some way, and that it runs much deeper than you think.

It's quite good. I'm currently playing the second game.

"People change. And as the years go by, so do our environments. I think it’s alright for there not to be a "proper" way of living. But I do believe that instead of trying to be satisfied on just one answer and blocking out the rest, searching for more answers, despite the pain they may bring, is a much more honest way of living." - Harumi Shuntarou from Oyasumi Punpun (Thanks to @Tartar for recommending this)
Oyasumi Punpun has one of the most unique main characters in manga as it is a human illustrated as a bird, and yes, you heard that right. This manga follows the story of Punpun Onodera, as he goes through childhood until early adulthood, dealing with numerous problems in his life, such as his family problems, his obsession with his love interest, his really hyperactive mind (don't ask me what his thoughts are), and his teenage life. It is rather sad as it isn't one of those cheeful and lighthearted manga at all; instead, it highlights a protagonist with a negative outlook in life, which has been brought about by his circumstances in his childhood. Numerous people try to fix him, but he remains broken for most of the manga, and at several points, he tries to just give up with life. At least, later on, he starts to find a better life for himself, standing strong slowly but surely. It's a good read, overall.

Some other really good quotes:
"But once you grow old, you become afraid of even losing things without any value." - Yuichi Onodera
"Risks are just an unavoidable part of life. Even if you realize the danger, nothing's gonna come from always running away. That way, even when you die, you can be content that you gave it your all." - Nanjou Sachi
"It's fine even if you're useless right now. As long as you keep looking towards the future, I'm sure a day will come when you'll find your worth." - Nanjou Sachi
"True happiness only lasts for a brief time, so you better enjoy it while you can, right?" - Yuichi Onodera

I'm glad I was able to read this manga. @Tartar Can you PM or DM me some other good manga?
-
Well, you can check my Myanimelist page to see the Manga I've read and how I've rated them.
Oyasumi Punpun is the only 10 I've given. I gave one to Umineko: When They Cry as well, but that one is a Visual Novel. The next best thing I've Read is Berserk which I gave a 9, and the only other manga I'd unconditionally recommend as a good piece of literature.
(Note, if you were to read Berserk, I recommend you skip the first 8 chapters, yes skip. Because they are wholly unrelated to the rest of the story and universally considered to be not very good. Some manga have posted the first few chapters as whole tankoubon volumes, ie. whole 200 page mangas, in which case the 8th chapter would start at page 171 of volume 3.)
I also gave Nisekoi a 9, due to several parts resonating deeply with me and liking the comedy, but overall it's not something I'd recommend to others.

I attended the first day of my Summer Debate Training and it turned out to be both enjoyable and insightful for me, even if I'm not exactly the outgoing type.

"It inspires me to see you work so hard and do such a good job! After all, running a farm by yourself can't be easy!" - Jeff from Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town
HM: Friends of Mineral Town requires a good amount of effort in order to succeed in it, but it provides good rewards if you do so. For those who don't know this game is a farming/dating simulation game wherein your character is asked to take care of a farm and in doing this, associate also with the townspeople and find a wife. There are other things you could do as well such as take care of animals, mine, and cook which make the game enjoyable if you're tired of farming. Additionally, interacting with the potential wives is interesting and I chose Popuri to be my wife in this game. Overall, although tiring and exhausting at some points, it still provides good fun for the patient and hardworking gamers out there.

"The young have confidence where the old have experience." - Apus Major from Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies
Dragon Quest IX was a rather extensive game as it featured a quite long story that involved meeting different kinds of people along the world map. The story involved three major groups: the Celestrians (the guardian angels of the humans), the Humans (one's who needed help from the MC after getting into predicaments due to greed), and the Gittish Empire (the big bad, but they only show up in the mid to late part of the story). I can't spoil much into the story since it is rather extensive and full of different ot lines, but I can say that the MCs goal in the whole story is to help out the humans in need, save the Celestrians, and defeat the Gittish empire. The gameplay and the different plot lines helped improve my experience of the game, and I did enjoy it a lot even if it took quite a few hours to complete it.

"If you could rewrite history ...
... What would you do differently?" - from Radiant HistoriaRadiant Historia is my favorite time travelling game of all time. It is a game wherein each important choice you make creates two different branches in history. Most of the time one branch reflects a bad ending while the other branch continues the story, but the very first choice is an exception as it causes a break that later on connects again in the last chapter. This game requires a lot of backtracking in time due to the needs of the current timeline requiring something from the alternate timeline. This might sound tedious, but seeing how things work out in the other timeline makes the experience more enjoyable. Completing the sidequests provides some good incentives also aside from the items and dialogue as it helps you get the best ending for the story. I really loved this game for its concept, characters, and story which has unique twists and unexpected surprises along the way.

@Tartar Among the games you've mentioned, I've only played Chrono Trigger, but I can say that this is a game worth playing. It's gameplay is simple but quite enjoyable; story is amazing; aesthetics are wonderful; sidequests are actually fun to do.

“If they can’t make it, we’ll just take this place.” — Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead
Okay, so I don't even know why I like post-apocalyptic/dystopian themes; is that a common thing or am I not normal? Anyway, The Walking Dead is quite possibly my favorite long-running show. I love how they execute the way humans live in a world overrun by zombies. You can really see how a bunch of people work together in order to achieve a better world for themselves even if it's full of the undead. I also liked the plot twists wherein some expected and unexpected betrayals are made in Seasons 2-4 and I also enjoyed the Road to Terminus Arc as the main characters try to meet each other in Terminus, only to find out that they have been betrayed there. I haven't kept up with the latest season, but I'll go watch it once I find a good copy of it.

"Being alone is better than being with the wrong person” - L from Death Note
Death Note is one of my favorite mangas of all time. It's plot focused on Light Yagami, a smart guy who finds a notebook which gives him liberty to kill anyone as long as he knew the real name and face of a person. It was quite interesting to see how he uses the Death Note for his own concept of justice and I also enjoyed how the genius investigators struggled to capture Light Yagami, although it took much and long before they did. This manga is a good read for those interested in intelligent cat and mice chasing mangas, and for those who prefer psychological warfare.

"Maybe there's only a dark road up ahead, but you still have to believe and keep going. Believe that the stars will light your path, even a little bit. Come on, let's go on a journey." - Miyazono Kaori from Your Lie in April
(Late Update due to falling asleep while on the phone yesterday =) )
Your Lie in April was a beautiful manga. It was a tale of a guy who quit playing the piano due to his mother's death, but was encouraged to do again by a girl who wanted him to be her accompaniment in a violin competition. The story was very interesting due to also having a focus on the side characters while the music in the anime is also marvelous. The 'Lie in April' also proves to make the ending both heartwarming and sad.

"Ain't about how fast I get there / Ain't about what's waitin' on the other side / It's the climb" - The Climb by Miley Cyrus
I have a good feeling this song isn't about mountain climbing, but this seems fitting for what happened today. A few hours ago, I attempted to climb a mountain, together with my family. A couple of times, I wanted to surrender and give up, but I decided to take a rest every once in a while, and I didn't worry anymore when I would get there, as long as I got there. I finally reached the summit after some hours, and the experience and the view was deeply satisfying.

Turns out I did go to both up a mountain and down a cave. Here are some pictures:

"Life's too short to have regrets
So I'm learning now to leave it in the past and try to forget
Only have one life to live
So you better make the best of it"- Today my Life Begins by Bruno Mars
This song was used for my graduation rites during my grade school years and I loved its reflective nature. This part was the one I loved so much.

"I-It's not like I like you or anything, b-baka!" - Typical Tsundere from Manga and Anime
The Tsundere personality is often seen in different Japanese media. It is often exemplified by teenage girls as a character development wherein they act cold to someone, but warm up over time. This kind of personality is very common among heroines and other side characters as it is very easy to do. You just need to make the line have some stuttering and add stupid or an insult somewhere, preferably near the end. Overall, i-it's not like i-it's cute and adorable or anything, you d-dummy!
