  1. I asked the same question, and as far as I can tell, nobody has. Taking out her Yveltal is difficult enough, but taking out a Garchomp and who-knows what else she has is pretty much impossible. I can't wait until we get strong enough to take her on again and get revenge!
  2. Update #42: Let There Be Light Well, that was fast! Luna was a lot easier than I remember her being. I led with Iustina the Godslayer, and she led with Bisharp. Bisharp didn't even get a move off before fainting to Iustina's god-slaying fists of fury. The same thing happened to her Malamar, except Malamar fell to Startlebug's field-boosted signal beam. Her Tyranitar was marginally more successful; it managed to get a dragon dance set up before getting its scaly rump handed to him by Iustina's relentless punching. Her Honchcrow managed to actually land an attack and took out Startlebug with a brave bird, but was weakened enough for Zuzu the Blue Wrecking Ball of Death to take it out while Luna spent her turns healing. Next up came her ace, Umbreon... and that was honestly the hardest part of the whole battle. I kept Zuzu on the field and spammed play rough, but Umbreon did significant damage with its field-boosted special moves and healed off all the damage Zuzu was doing to it until Zuzu fainted. Iustina came out to avenge her, and after a tense standoff managed to take off more of Umbreon's health than Umbreon could heal back. All that remained was her Sableye, which I remembered as being the most problematic Pokemon for me to deal with; however, to my amazement, rather than try to do what it does best and inflict status conditions to chip away at my health, it just spammed damaging attacks. Not to say this wasn't effective; it did manage to take out Vinyl, and heal back all the health that Vinyl had managed to do to it. Fortunately, George managed to not only survive its attacks, but even burned it, taking it out after two heat waves (burn damage included), earning me my ninth badge! So, at the halfway point through my quest to topple the Reborn League, I'm probably going to take a break for a little while in order to catch all the Pokemon that I can use so far, grind up some of my weaker team members, and stock up for the next couple of Gym Leaders. After all, it's going to be a loooooooong while before I get back to Reborn City. Anyway, after all my preparations are done with, I'll check in with you guys for the Sampson battle! See ya then! 3. Update #41: Pupal Stage The second bout with Bennett took a couple tries, but overall it wasn't too bad. I led with Zuzu the Blue Wrecking Ball of Death, and he led with Larvesta. The poor grub didn't even last a turn before Zuzu aqua tail'd him into oblivion. I feel kind of bad for it, actually (although I'll probably feel a lot less sad once it fully evolves for my next battle with Bennett). Bennett sent out his Yanmega next, and I switched to Havoc Buck. Buck barely survived a field- and life orb-boosted signal beam, then proceeded to spam stone edge while Bennett healed until the Yanmega went down. Bennett then sent out Scyther, and I sent out Vinyl. Vinyl put up a good fight, but ultimately a field-boosted night slash took her down. I sent out Havoc Buck again (whom I had spent Vinyl's last turn before fainting healing), and he managed to tank a night slash before taking out Scyther with a stone edge. Up next came Dustox. I switched out to George, who took out the demented moth with a single heat wave. Up next came his Butterfree, whom I countered with Startlebug. The poor bug was unable to take it out before she herself fainted, but she did put a dent in its HP; regardless, George came out and finished what Startlebug had started, taking out Butterfree with a single heat wave. Bennett's final Pokemon was a Venomoth (which reminds me, I'm going to have to dust Billy G. Fio off and put him to use eventually), who set up a quiver dance, survived a heat wave from George, and then, knowing it only had one turn left before oblivion... set up another quiver dance. Yeah. It didn't survive for much longer. With Bennett down, he decided to leave me be and promised me that everybody would see how powerful he was and that next time we meet, he would reinvent himself from the ground up. ...I think I just created a supervillain. ...Anyway, onwards to Luna! The team so far:
  4. Update #40: Solidified Magma Well, I decided to take on the Maxwell battle for the EXP and the sunny day TM, and it went pretty well! I led with Jay Glasnost, and he led with his Ninetales. Jay tanked a sun-boosted fire blast, and took out the Ninetales with a single earthquake. Next up came his Charizard, whom I tried to counter with Vinyl; unfortunately, the Charizard's solar power-boosted attacks proved to be too much for the poor thing, and she fell despite dealing significant damage to the Charizard with a rock slide. George came out next, but he, too fell to the fury of the former Magma Gang leader's Charizard. Luckily, the ability that gave Maxwell's Charizard such power proved to be its undoing, as it fainted from solar power damage immediately after taking out George. Maxwell sent out a Heatmor next, and I countered by sending out DJ Bagel C. The DJ took a fire punch and did serious damage with earth power, forcing Maxwell to switch out to his Pyroar. The DJ had taken heavy damage from Heatmor, so I spend the DJ's last turn before fainting healing up Jay Glasnost, whom I sent out after the DJ got taken out by a crunch from the Pyroar. Amazingly, the Pyroar didn't use a damage-dealing move, and Jay took it out in one shot with an earthquake. Maxwell sent out his ace, Houndoom, and I sent out Iustina the Godslayer. Maxwell tried having his Houndoom use sludge bomb, but Iustina shrugged it off and countered with a close combat, one-shotting Houndoom. All that remained was Maxwell's badly-damaged Heatmor, who Havoc Buck took out with a double-edge after surviving a fire punch. With that out of the way, it's time to rescue Luna and head to Iolia Valley! The team so far:
  5. Update #39: Insert Witty Chess Pun Here Hey! Sorry for the delay; I had gotten back into Pokemon Rejuvenation (I'm really going to have to do a challenge run of that game one day) but now I'm back on track.. Anyway, Randomus took a couple tries, but once I got my priorities straight over who I should target, it went pretty well. I led with George and Vinyl, while he led with Reuniclus and Exeggutor. Since in my previous attempt, Exeggutor would take down George with an ancientpower, I targeted it with air slash from George and an earthquake from Vinyl. Although it didn't take it down, Randoms spent the next two turns healing his Pokemon, giving me plenty of time to take out Exeggutor. Once Exeggutor was down, Randomus sent out Metagross. Vinyl got taken down by Reuniclus' focus blast, but luckily Metagross' meteor mash missed (yay, alliteration!), giving George time to weaken it with a heat wave. I sent out Awesome Grum next, and he lived up to his name by teaming up with George to take down Metagross with a heat wave and a night daze. Randomus had already switched his Reuniclus out for his Malamar, and with Metagross down he sent in his Slowking. Malamar got flinch hax'd by George, and Slowking just used nasty plot; the next turn, Slowking went down before getting the chance to attack, and Malamar (despite surviving air slash) failed to knock anybody out with its psycho cut attack. Reuniclus got sent back in, but both it and Malamar got taken down by a heat wave from George. All that remained was his ace: Gossip Gardevoir. George managed to get Gossip Gardevoir to flinch thanks to air slash, and Awesome Grum did an admirable amount of damage to her with night daze. The next turn, however, Gossip Gardevoir managed to moonblast poor Grum into oblivion, leading me to send out DJ Bagel C. The DJ, however, wasn't even able to get a single hit off before fainting, leading me to send out Havoc Buck. Gossip Gardevoir (rather than use psychic, which would have done super-effective damage to George with the field) used moonblast on George, doing scratch damage to him and allowing George and Buck to take her out with a strength and double-edge, respectively. With the lights out and Luna kidnapped by a not quite so brainwashed El, it's time to head to Seventh Street to get her back! The team so far:
  6. So, um, I want to make a slightly bragging accomplishment post, but it kind of has to do with a major battle. So, if you haven't beaten the fifth gym leader (the real one), don't read this spoiler.
  7. How about trying a mono-color run? You can only use Pokemon that are a single predominant color, as determined by the Pokedex (see here for a list of Pokemon by color), although you can use Pokemon that are not that color but evolve into that color (not vice versa, though) or have a Reborn shiny that is that color.
  8. I picked Oshawott too, because he kept following me. I think that makes us Cain. Cain 2 the Electric Boogaloo
  9. Update #38: I AM A MAN! (PUNCH) Well, the Ditto-Arceus was pretty hard, but once I managed to get enough smokescreens off it wasn't nearly as bad as Solaris' Garchomp. I led with a focus-sashed George and proceeded to spam smokescreen while the Ditto-Arceus (after getting a judgement off but failing to take out George thanks to the focus sash) started firing off everything randomly in an effort to hit something, doubtlessly causing a ton of damage to irreparable damage to the surrounding area. After getting off all six smokescreens, George began spamming heat wave, burning the Ditto-Arceus twice and forcing El to waste two turns to heal the Ditto-Arceus before the Ditto-Arceus finally got a hit off and took out George. I sent out Iustina next, and she dodged an attack to knock off the Ditto-Arceus' leftovers, and then proceeded to finish off GOD ITSELF with a flurry of punches that earned her the new nickname "Iustina the Godslayer". Time to head back to Reborn City and get ready for the Randomus battle! The team so far:
  10. As awesome as an idea as that sounds, I'm gonna have to wimp out of that one. I get very emotionally attached to my Pokemon (in fact, the constant releases was one of the hardest parts about TPP for me), and besides, TPP Blaze Black 2 and TPP X didn't have any releases.
  11. Update #37: Sorry to Keep You Waiting! I'm baa-aaaaaaaaack!~ Sorry for the long gap in updates; I was just spending most of the time exploring Route 1 and leveling up our newest team member: Startlebug the Galvantula! Just look at that cute little face! ;3 Anyway, Cain wan't too bad, although he did take a couple tries. I led with Vinyl the Flygon, and he led with Muk. Luckily for me, Muk used sludge wave instead of minimize, so Vinyl was able to take him down quickly before he did to much damage. Cain sent out his own Galvantula next, and I switched to Havoc Buck the Steelix. Despite taking a beating from signal beams, Havoc Buck managed to hang in there (with a little help from some moomoo milk, of course) and knocked its HP down to the red before Cain pulled him out for Absol. Despite Absol's evasive maneuvers (read: double team) and hard-hitting attacks, Buck tanked it all and took out Absol with double-edge (which he took no damage from thanks to rock head). Next up came his Nidoking, whom I countered with Jay Glasnost the Golem. Jay survived an earthquake thanks to sturdy and knocked Nidoking down to low health with an earthquake of her own. I predicted a second earthquake and switched out to George the Charizard, who flew over the move and took out the slowed-down Nidoking (it was slower due to the swamp field the battle took place in; not sure why that was there, but it made the battle more fun) with an air slash. With his main down, Cain sent out his pseudo-starter, Samurott. I countered with Startlebug (marking her first major battle!). She did some serious damage with electro ball butt got hit hard with an aqua tail, so I spent a turn healing her back up. Fortunately for the both of us, Samurott sterted spamming the not-very-effective revenge, allowing Startlebug to take him out with electro ball. Cain sent out his weakened Galvantula again, and I sent out Havoc Buck, but to my surprise, Buck got taken down before he could even land an attack! Luckily, the swampy terrain slowed down his Galvantula enough for Vinyl to outspeed it and take it out with an earthquake. All that remained was his most problematic Pokemon (or at least the most problematic in all of my previous runs)- his Gengar. I had George stall for time to fully heal Jay, and he did just that before getting put to sleep and knocked out. My plan from there was to have Jay use smack down to make Gengar susceptible to the slowdown from the field, allowing me to outspeed it with Awesome Grum; however, when Gengar got knocked down, his focus blast missed, allowing Jay to take the now-grounded Gengar out with an earthquake! With that over with, it's time to prepare for the battle with the Ditto-Arceus. It's going to be just as fun as the Garchomp. The team so far:
  12. When you fight a guy with a fully offensive Carbink. This one's actually in the main games, used by Steven Stone of all people during your rematch against him in Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire.
  13. Wait... does that mean that he's going to be fought in the Tourmaline Desert? There would probably be a permanent sandstorm there, which would heavily benefit his team...
  14. Just some advice for Noel: have Arbok corrupt the field with sludge wave, then have Wishcash use muddy water. It not only gets a boost from the field, but also gains an additional poison-typing, making his Clefable easier to deal with. Anyway, great job with the run so far! Keep up the good work!
  15. I just watched a documentary in APUSH about how scientists used to believe that homosexuality was a mental illness. I just wish I could have a time machine so I could go back in ime and slap said scientists.

      Shamitako

Well, technically it could be considered a mental illness (and before you freak out at me, do recall that I'm ace/lesbian myself) It is an abnormality in how human function, since we're literally designed to reproduce. So they weren't necessarily just being anti-gay, they just had a different base to start from

@KosherKitten True, but back then they equated it with being a sociopath or being criminally insane. In other words, they treated it as a dangerous mental illness, rather than a harmless one as you describe it.

  16. Ah, Route 1 of the Reborn Region. Time to stock up on the honey and get ready to take on the bulls and the bugs.

  17. Update #36: The Swag Jockey's Last Race Amazingly, Fern (despite being overleveled) was actually pretty easy. I led with Zuzu the Blue Wrecking Ball of Death, and he led with Fraxure (the only Pokemon on his team whose level was roughly comparable to my Pokemon). As to be expected, Zuzu handed its armored rump to it in one turn. Krookodile went down pretty fast to Zuzu, too; despite Fern's best efforts to heal it back up, he ultimately fainted from a few play roughs. Fern then sent out his ace: Roserade. I had Oomph Judge attempt to take him out, but even though she almost took him out, she ultimately fainted from a single extrasensory. Fortunately, a very angry George let his villainous 50% take over and incinerated both the field and the Roserade with a heat wave. Fern sent out Scyther next, but the poor bug got one-shot by a flaming smack down from Jay Glasnost. Fern finished off with his most problematic Pokemon: Serperior. I had Icky confuse him with swagger (surprisingly, the universe didn't explode from too much swag in one place at one time) and did a great deal of damage with some crunches, but ultimately he fell due to field damage and leech seed. Awesome Grum, however, was able to stall Serperior out until it fainted from the field damage. "I think we all know who the top dog around here is." Yeah... me. =3 Now then, it's time for me to work my way through the heck that is Route 1. If I don't post by this Tuesday, send help. The team so far: P.S. By the way, did anybody else notice that the trainers on Route 1 were based on the "What type are you" quiz on the main page? For example, there's a guy who has a Luxray and an underleveled Gothita who says he should trade away one of his Pokemon, there's a guy with a Starmie and Skarmory who says that he'll have to EV train his Pokemon more, etc.
  18. Update #35: The First Noel the Angels Did Sing Well, as in all my playthroughs, Noel was a pain in the rump. It took me many, many tries (even more than Serra!), and I usually lost to his Cinccino, his Porygon-Z, or his freaking Clefable. Softboiled + Cosmic Power = AAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHH. On the attempt that I actually succeeded on, I led with DJ Bagel C. and he led with Wigglytuff. Since both the DJ and Wigglytuff were male, the DJ's rivalry allowed him to one-shot the Wigglytuff with a sludge wave (corrupting the field in the process) before it could set up stealth rocks. Next up came his most problematic Pokemon- Porygon-Z. I switched out to George, causing the Porygon-Z to boost his useless attack stat instead of boosting something useful. George started spamming heat wave until he fainted, but his fall was not in vain; he burned the Porygon-Z and weakened it enough for Oomph Judge to swoop in and finish him. Noel sent out his Girafarig, and I countered by sending out Awesome Grum. Grum survived a thunderbolt from the Giraffe and a half and took it out with one night daze. Noel sent out his Swellow next, but Jay Glasnost (who I sent out to counter it) not only survived a facade, but went on to one-shot it with a critical-hit- and field-boosted smack down. Cinccino came out next, but its attacks did almost nothing to the DJ, and he took it out with a sludge wave and a poison jab after poisoning it. Finally came Clefable, but amazingly, it didn't put up much of a fight! Sure, it fought back a little with moonblast and raised its defenses with cosmic power, but it wasn't anything that the DJ couldn't handle, and he poison jab'ed the thing into oblivion. Onwards to Route 1! The team so far:
  19. Update #34: OH S#@% IT'S AN ABRA! The PULSE Abra was... anticlimactic, to say the least. I led with Jay Glasnost, and ZEL led with the Abra. Jay tanked a hyper beam thanks to sturdy, and then proceeded to wreck the Abra with a bulldoze and an earthquake before fainting t a field-boosted dark pulse. Awesome Grum tried to land the finishing blow, but Abra outsped him and took him out with a hyper beam. Fortunately, this tired the Abra out, allowing Havoc Buck to end it with a stone edge. ...Yeah, that's it. That was the whole fight. Anyway, with that out of the way, it's time to head out and take on Noel for real! I am soooooo not looking foward to it. The team so far:
  20. Update #33: Attack of the 50-Foot Steelix Well... Steelix was.... It's hard to say. I mean, it went by pretty fast, but a lot of my team got knocked out, so I'm gonna average it out and say that it went well. I led with Vinyl and the Steelix led with... well, the Steelix, obviously. To my surprise, earthquake only hit the Steelix for not very effective damage. Did the field effect do something to that? Anyway, after earthquake did barely anything, I used superpower, which did significantly more damage. Unfortunately, Vinyl fainted on the same turn. I sent out Awesome Grum next, and he did significantly more damage with foul play before fainting. Havoc Buck came out next, but he wasn't able to do much before fainting. George, on the other hand, took out at least a third of the Steelix's health with a heat wave before fainting from Steelix's stone edge. Iustina came out next, and she managed to knock off even more of the Steelix's health with a close combat. Steelix still survived the hit, though, and retaliated with a stone edge... but amazingly, Iustina held on with just 3 HP, and proceeded to wreck the Steelix with one last close combat! That is probably right up there with the field effect working against the PULSE Muk as one of the best moments of the playthrough. Anyway, with that out of the way, it's time to take on the PULSE Abra! The team so far:
  21. Update #32: Psychotherapy Well, Sigmund went pretty well, but having three ground types on my team at the time probably helped a lot. Sigmund led with his Jolteon, while I led with Jay Glasnost. Jay tanked a super-effective hidden power, and then one-shot Jolteon with a mighty earthquake. Next came his Lanturn... and honestly, I didn't know what to use to counter it. I eventually decided to send out Oomph Judge, who put up a good fight with acrobatics, but ultimately fainted. I then decided to send out Vinyl, who would be able to take a water-type move without taking super-effective damage. Sure enough, she managed to take Lanturn down with a few earthquakes, prompting Sigmund to stop toying with me and send out his ace: Electivire. I sent out Icky because I knew for certain that Electivire had an ice-type move, so senting out a ground-type would be suicide. After missing a couple times and getting healed back to full health with a berry ice cream, Icky managed to hit Electivire with swagger, causing it to confuse itself and cause it to do enough damage to itself (for some reason, I imagine it hurting itself by charging into walls, knocking down all of Laura's bookcases) for Icky to take him out with a crunch. With his ace gone, Sigmund sent out his next-best Pokemon: Eelektross. I sent out one of our newest team members: DJ Bagel C. the Nidoking! The DJ managed to poison Eelektross with poison jab, and from there onwards all I had to do was just alternate between fighting back with poison jab and sludge wave and heal until Eelektross fainted. Sigmund then sent out his own Luxray, who cut the DJ's attack with intimidate (which, admittedly, wasn't too bad, since the DJ's attacks were mostly special attacks) and confused him with swagger. Luckily, the DJ still managed to focus enough to finish Luxray with earth power, leading a desperate Sigmund to send out his last and most problematic Pokemon: Rotom. I sent out George, but George obviously didn't get much done before fainting (although he did manage to do some damage with heat wave and heal the DJ back up). The DJ came back out next, but he was only able to get off a single shadow ball before fainting. Icky came out to avenge him, but the poor thing didn't even get a single attack off before fainting thanks to confusion. Finally, with Rotom at a sliver of health, I sent out Vinyl. Panicking, the Rotom began evasive maneuvers with double team and confused Vinyl, fortunately, Vinyl broke through both setbacks and ended the Rotom with a single dragon claw. When Sirius entered the house, I chose to stop Sigmund simply because I heard that Saphira would get kidnapped if I did so... and boy howdy, do I feel sorry for Sigmund. I imagine a hyper beam to the face like that would hurt like heck. Sorry about the hole in your wall, Laura. Time to save Saphira! The team so far:
  22. But... all the legends are true...
  23. Update #31: Have an Ice day Hey! Sorry for the delay between this post and the last; I figured that since I wouldn't be fighting Serra while she had a field, I would ramp up the fight's difficulty by fighting her on the SET battle style... and great merciful Helix, it was HARD. On the run that I finally beat her on, I led with Iustina and she led with Cloyster. Iustina did what she does best and started force-palming that spiky oyster into paste. Serra took me by surprise and switched out to Abomasnow, but Iustina still did massive damage to it. Eventually, she not only took out Abomasnow but also took down Cloyster when she switched back out to it. Unfortunately, she had taken a beating during those turns, and got knocked out in one hit by Serra's ace- her Froslass. Froslass didn't fare so well against Awesome Grum, though; he broke through all her evasion and one-shot her with a night daze. He even night daze'd her Avalugg into oblivion and did considerable damage to her Cryognal before getting knocked out by said Cryognal! George came out and finished what Grum started, shrugging off freeze-drys left and right and taking out Cryognal. Now, you might be thinking, "All she has left is her Lapras. That can't be too bad, can it?" OH, IT'S BAD. Seriously, on all of my previous attempts, that Lapras either took me out directly or left me so crippled that the rest of her team could easily do me in. On this run, George obviously didn't last long before getting knocked out, Icky didn't get any damage off before fainting, and Havoc Buck didn't even get to attack. Luckily, I had my trusty ace up my sleeve- Zuzu the Blue Wrecking Ball of Death. Zuzu set up aqua ring to negate the hail damage, and started spamming play rough. At that point, it was pretty much just "spam play rough and pray Zuzu outlives Lapras". And, thanks to a well-placed berry ice cream, she did! With my sixth badge earned, it's time to go get that medicine and brace for the upcoming meteor attack! The team so far:
  24. Update #30: Larval Stage Well, Bennett was fairly easy. He led with Larvesta, and I led with Oomph Judge. Oomph Judge took out Larvesta in one hit. Honestly, if I was smart, I could have had Oomph Judge sweep his whole team, but I decided to try and give the whole team some experience. Next, I sent out Jay Glasnost and he sent out Masquerian. Poor Jay was only able to set up stealth rocks before she got taken out, and to add insult to injury Masquerian got a stat boost off of the silver wind it used to knock out Jay. Havoc Buck came out next, with rage in his eyes, and fought the Masquerain in an epic clash that involved all of Bennett's berry ice cream and several well-placed stone edges, culminating in the Masquerain's defeat. He sent out a Dustox next, and I sent out George, who was sporting some new tricks from the move tutor. He took out the Dustox with his two newest moves, air slash and heat wave. Bennett then sent out his Vivilion, and I sent out Iustina. Iustina fought hard with several knock offs, but ultimately the satanic butterfly kissed her to death. What a way to go. Luckily, I finally got smart and had Oomph Judge use acrobatics on the butterfly demon, taking it down instantly. The rest of the battle (his Butterfree and his beautifly, I think, correct me if I'm wrong) was pretty much just "have Oomph Judge spam acrobatics and watch the bugs crumble". Anyway, onward to Serra! The team so far:
  25. So, I have to do an infographic for art class, and I was planning on doing one as a flowchart for which starter you should choose for Pokémon Reborn. Do you guys think you could give me some info about the starters (ex. what starters make for an easy game, what starters make for a fairly-difficult game, what starters make for a hard game, what each starter has going for them, etc.)? I'd really appreciate it! <3
