  1. I'm not sure if it was him making you beg before he lets you out of the cage, his apathy towards Corey's suicide, or him mocking how traumatized Shelly was during his battle towards her that made me first realize that Fern was a heartless monster lacking even the most basic levels of human empathy, but either way I have to admit he's probably one of the few video game characters that I actually genuinely hate. Kudos to Ame for making such a good hate sink. My only complaint is that beating him never really feels satisfying. He just rationalizes away his loss every time, usually insulting you in the process. You never seem to really accomplish anything by beating him; he just continues to be a stuck-up sociopath. Deep down, I'm hoping for him to have a dramatic breakdown after his final defeat in which he realizes that you really are - and always have been - superior to him.

    Old Amber

Sorry to be a bother, but does anybody know whether or not the Old Amber is available through mining? I checked the item location guide, but it said it wasn't available; the item location guide can be a little faulty, though, so I just wanted to double-check.
  3. Actually, if you look in the picture for the Water Surface field effect, you can see that the foe's Lapras' name is Deliverance. Amaria has a Lapras named Deliverance, so I think it's safe to say Amaria's gonna be the next gym leader.
  4. Let's see... for non-battle moments, I'd have to say: 1) Anything related to Fern (I hope we eventually get to force-feed that stuck-up narcissistic jerk to a rabid Groudon) 2) That giant boulder puzzle thing in the section of Byxbysion wastleland that's only accessible from Tanzan Mountain 3) Going through the Magikarp event for the first time (It's the only thing you can get via old rod in the original games! Why is it so hard to get here?!) And for battle moments, I'd have to say... 1) El's Pseudo-Arceus 2) Shelly's Gym battle (seriously, she wiped the floor with me until I set the field on fire) 3) Charolette's Gym battle (Everything dies with fire: The Gym battle) I don't really mind grinding; I mainly just move the game to the corner of my computer screen and watch Youtube videos while I grind. It's kind of relaxing, actually.
  5. I guess mine would have to be Meowth/Persian. I picked one up really early in the game, thinking that I might be able to get some quick cash by using Pay Day in the Agate Circus (this, of course, was before I knew how late in the game the Agate Circus was). It turned out to be surprisingly powerful once it evolved: it played a pivotal role in taking down Shade with its dark-type moves, and having it use Fake Out proved to seriously come in handy multiple times.
  6. Thanks. Unfortunately, there are guards blocking the way to Agate City. Is there another way through?
  7. Okay, I know this might be a stupid question, but I need a little help getting around. First of all, is there any way to get back to Reborn City after entering Agate City? I've got some unfinished business to do there, and I really hope that I can get back within the current episode. Secondly, where do you go after entering Charlotte's gym and talking to Charlotte and Laura? I get the feeling that the episode's not going to end until I defeat Charlotte, but I can't find her anywhere. Any help I could get would be appreciated!
  8. Personally, I used a Garbodor holding a Poison Point to take down Clefable. It went down surprisingly fast, only taking one Acid Spray followed by one Sludge Bomb. Also, if it makes you feel any better, I lost to Noel a lot too. Noel is the new Whitney.
  9. Thanks! I'll be sure to get a Mgnezone ready. I'm really appreaciative!
  10. So, I could use a little help: am I supposed to actually defeat El? His battle seems a lot like the first battle with Solaris: one really powerful, overleveled Pokémon that can sweep your team with barely any effort and heal off any damage it might take. And yet, when I lost the battle with it I blacked out instead of a cutscene playing. Was this a fake-out, or do I really have to beat him? And if I do have to beat him, are there any tips anybody could give me for taking him out? Any help I could get would be appreciated!
  11. Thanks for all of your help! I guess I'll have to get myself a Numel, then!
  12. I'm currently using a Level 31 Frogadier, a Level 30 Fearow, a Level 31 Swirlix, a Level 30 Graveler, a Level 27 Mankey (soon to be a Level 30 Primeape), and a Level 31 Persian. Should I swap one of them out for something else?
  13. Hey! If it's not too much to ask of, I'd like to know if somebody could give me some tips for getting through the third gym (the real third gym, not Corey's bait-and-switch gym). My team keeps getting sweeped by her starting 'mons; I haven't even survived long enough to see her Volbeat. Are there any Pokémon, items, or strategies that I could use to make the fight a little easier? Any advice you could give would be welcome!
