  1. Never rage quit. Even if your Draco Meteor misses twice in a row. Even if you miscalculate the speed tiers and lose a pokemon for free. Even if you haven't found the chance to setup yet. Never. You might still win it. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/oususpecttest-299291223
  2. As much as I like Feraligatr, I can only accept that you're right on this one. It just doesn't cut it, when Azumarill does not need the speed buff. I took your advice and now this is the 6th member of the team. Not original, but it does it's job much better aparently. Blue Ranger (Azumarill) @ Sitrus Berry Ability: Huge Power EVs: 92 HP / 252 Atk / 164 Spe Adamant Nature - Belly Drum - Aqua Jet - Play Rough - Waterfall Here's a replay that shows the whole concept of the team http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/oususpecttest-299286506
  3. But did you calculate your protein needs?
  4. You all think this is a motherfreaking game? He won't ban anyone. Instead he will send them memes so bad the scrubs will feel bad about themselves. In all seriousness now, congratulations to both of you! I kinda expected it for Jerry to get the banhammer, Rose took me a bit by surprise. I hope you both do your jobs well, but I don't really need to hope for something almost guaranteed.
  5. NickCrash live broadcasting to you and yours!! This is a new OU team of mine, which is good, yet not great. This is the story of a young Manectric who formed a team in order to battle the evil creatures of showdown. They have been invading our battle spots for long enough. Somebody has to say "enough". Somebody has to stop them. The power rangers of pokemon are here to end the calamity called "n00bs of showdown" and here they are, requesting your assistance to become even better at fighting crime... or just playing animal farm with superpowers. Give them all a warm welcome!!! Green Ranger (Ferrothorn) (M) @ Leftovers Ability: Iron Barbs Shiny: Yes EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SpD Relaxed Nature IVs: 0 Spe - Spikes - Leech Seed - Gyro Ball - Thunder Wave First member is part of the "smoke-weed-everyday" faction, and I guess he does his job well. Basic EV spread to maximize defenses and Gyro Ball damage, Spikes for renewable hazards and leech seed to stay healthy. Since this team needs the speed check at all times for certain members to work at full potential, T-wave is used for the last slot. It also helps slow down set-up sweepers and naturally fast pokemon, who would otherwise breeze through the team. It's the main tank of the team and does his job well. It's not weird that you find it in every 4th OU team in showdown. Still if he can use his skills better, I'd be happy to know. Pink Ranger (Latias) @ Leftovers Ability: Levitate EVs: 248 HP / 116 Def / 144 SpD Calm Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Draco Meteor - Psyshock - Healing Wish - Defog The other member of the defense duo. Lefties for recovery and EV spread for longevity. The attack moves are just for coverage and to get rid of troublesome fighting types that rely on their special defense, like Keldeo or Conkeldurr. D-Meteor for the lolz, as Latias can survive hits from even M-Garchomp and OHKO with a Draco Meteor. Defog is standard for hazard control, and Healing Wish is there to give one of my sweepers another chance to shine. Pretty basic as well. I have not tested whether these are the best EVs but feel free to provide feedback. Yellow Ranger (Manectric) @ Manectite Ability: Lightning Rod EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe Timid Nature IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def - Volt Switch - Thunderbolt - Overheat - Hidden Power [ice] You can't have a Power Rangers team without a yellow ranger, can you? This pretty little fella does his glass tank job well enough. Hit'n'run strategies for him, while dropping of the occasional Intimidate. 2 electric moves for the different purposes of each. Volt Switch when I need to hit hard and GTFO, T-bolt when I really want the damage, or to ensure a kill. HP-ice is pretty much mandatory as so many OU threats are somehow weak to it. If I get Garchomp or Landorus (not scarfed) low enough with proper hazards, it can assure me a kill. Overheat is a nuke (chosen over flamethrower for sheer damage output). Basically, this works best early game to weaken the threats I need gone and will be gone with my wallbreakers, and late game to sweep. Blue Ranger (Feraligatr) @ Life Orb Ability: Sheer Force EVs: 112 HP / 196 Atk / 200 Spe Jolly Nature - Dragon Dance - Waterfall - Crunch - Ice Punch Alright this one is the oddball of the team. Usually dwelling in UU, the croc is not expected anywhere higher. However, Sheer Force Life Orb and a ton of moves to pick from to case considerable damage is a force to be reckoned with. Add a Dragon Dance to that and you've got yourself a strong pokemon that can sweep entire teams late-game without much effort. While true that it needs support from Ferro or Intimi-core to become seriously intimidating, it has its uses even if the secondary effects of its moves are negated due to its ability. Works as a second sweeper with maximum capability late-game. I am not sure whether I should keep it as it is, with speed boosts, or change it to SD. The EV spread is tweaked in this way, so it can live a few hits before going down. It maximizes its potential after a DD. Sadly before that, it cannot pull of it's role as efficiently. This one might need a few changes. Black Ranger (Landorus-Therian) @ Leftovers Ability: Intimidate EVs: 248 HP / 96 Atk / 164 Def Impish Nature - Stealth Rock - Earthquake - Stone Edge - U-turn I know this choice does not net me an originality award, but what can I say? This guy fills the holes in the team. It forms a volt/turn core with Manectric, which also works as a double intimidate which can be used either to bring a sweeper/wallbreaker down enough not to cause me serious damage, or even get one locked in a choiced move, so I can bring forth Feraligatr or Latios and either setup myself, remove hazards or put some of my own over there. Since the team may have problems with physical sweepers, even if I do not run WoW on any mon, this strategy almost always works. Not to mention that with little help from Ferro's T-wave, this guy can work wonders around its opponents. Defensive by nature, but when need be, it's base stats do not disappoint, even now, that they are not fully invested. Red Ranger (Scizor) @ Choice Band Ability: Technician EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD Adamant Nature - Bullet Punch - U-turn - Knock Off - Superpower What else? Scizor fits so well in this team, taking care of multiple threats that the sweepers cannot stop themselves, that being the Lati brothers and multiple fairies. The EV spread maximizes longevity and offensive power, while appreciating a Healing Wish if everything else fails. Bullet Punch for priority, technician boosted, BAND Boosted, STAB to hit like a truck on steroids, while U-turn is nice to hit things hard enough on the switch. Knock off provides utility as well as a nice way to deal with Ghosts and bulky psychic types, while Superpower is a nuke that when launched at the right time can net you a KO when you need it most. It too can form a volt/turn with the other two mons, plus it's slow u-turn almost guarantees a safe switch for Manectric to come in and launch a powerful T-bolt or Overheat to whatever comes in to die. Scizor is a wonderful pokemon, and has earned the title of the Red Power Ranger in this team, solving the problems the others couldn't. Importable Tell me if you like it and do not hesitate to share your opinions below. Any suggestion is welcome, and if you wish you can use the team as well. Just keep the nicknames for the lolz. I'd appreciate it if you could make it even better.
  6. If we assume that all pokemon able to learn AncientPower have lived since ancient times, the list without legendaries and fossils is as follows: And I believe that covers most of them. In cases of extra terrestrials, we have no idea how old they are. They could be from close planets that are no longer inhabited.

  9. To those who want to play monotype, you should know, Deoxys-S is available, though not for long. If someone would explain why my opponent had so much coverage against Ground, I'd be glad. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-298770429
  10. Then you understand you shouldn't get too involved.

  11. There are plenty of Poison types to choose fro, but I believe Weezing or Nidoking are my vavorites. This question is actually pretty hard, could yu not have asked something easier? ... Why do we say "nail it" when we manage to do something, but "screw it" when we don't? note: put your answers in italics when you're done.
  12. I did not say that most ep1 mons would be useless. As it happens with every game, canon or not, some pokemon are natually better than others, no matter in which stage of the game you put them. I was saying that usually there are some "late bloomers" and telling you NOT to make them too late, or otherwise people would lose interest in those pokemon. While it is a positive move to gradually present the players with better pokemon, I am asking you to avoid the mistake the first pokemon games made: they made later game pokemon completely outshine the ones you got early on, and thus in the end people would only use a handful of them. Even if a pokemon becomes a nuclear warhead (in which I believe we have an actual example) at lvl60+ while earlier it struggled to compete with others, and another pokemon becomes useful much earlier, not many people would take enough time to explore its full potential and thus it will be underused, at least from casual players. That's true, however allow me to elaborate on my point. The game you are in the process of creating and has just hatched from the egg, is one that aims at surprizing the players with the new fakemon, all created in detail and set in stone, so their stats/abilities/typing/design/pokedex entries all match with one another and make the pokemon 'believable'. Therefore, your game revolves around the fakemon. The region and world creating are of course a major concept, however it is still based on the pokemon. Rewriting the storyline to fit loose ends, explain certain processes better or just fix the dialogues to fit the characters better are all part of HOW you say the story. Fixing the visuals by mending the maps and events are also a part of how you present the story. All of the above are objective criteria by which you improve a game. At the same time though, improving a pokemon is not always so straightforward and may even seem not to have any strong objective criteria. Since pokemon creation is essentially a species creation, and debate takes place upon deciding every single concept of this, it is obvious that there are contrasting opinions about it. Of course someone could place criteria to make the deciding process easier, but those too are subjective. In the end, as I said before, it is your game and you decide. I can only tell you my views on your creations and provide feedback. Naturally my view on the fakemon will be complete when I've encountered and trained all of them, but that will be too late for anyone to care about their improvement any more.
  13. If it were a better pokemon I might have thought about this. Also, if we haven't driven McDonalds out of the country due to it not being competitive enough. Not to mention, being an event does not really mean it's available in all countries. Add to that, the people who could not go to the place due to various responsibilities. Do not forget the shy ones who won't pull out a gameboy in a random place and start downloading pokemon.
  14. Some thoughts about those points: 1) I hope this is not the case for every single pokemon in the first episodes. It is alright to keep some that are more powerful in the early game and afterwards become less useful, and at the same time include pokemon with a slow start that get their niches much later. However, this should not end up in some pokemon becoming so overpowered that they outshine the ones you get early on, even if a player has put considerable effort into raising them. It would only mean their efforts went (even partially) wasted, and that could lead to the frustration of your target group if taken to the extremes. We have no knowledge of your full pokedex, and I assume you have already thought this through, but it does no harm reminding you. This includes both examples of Mooroot and Bunnerd. 3) At least use the more subtle hints rarely found in canon games, and include NPCs who throw random comments at you, and you should decipher the messages. Do not make it too subtle though (since something YOU would understand because you've been included in designing the mons, most probably will not be as obvious or strong hint to a random player). 4) So the reason you do not consider this is... the time that passed? The main argument was about the two Normal-type bunnies in ep1, and was debating placement of the pokemon. If issues about the pokedex could be debated, one could raise comments about the 3 bug types in ep1 or the fact that Lucifly evolves WAY too early. The second point on Bunnerd was the unnecessary Normal typing it has, nothing more. Up to some extend, I mentioned it because you kept complaining about how you do not have enough single type pokemon. Keep it as you wish, it's your game after all. But if you will not accept criticism, you will not be able to improve your game over time.
  15. Also, you might want to check whether the pick-up table is still there or not. My Magpy keeps netting me nuggets, full heals, common candies etc
  16. I decided that some polls would liven up the discussion and give us a view of what people think about our characters. First Poll: THE MARINES Vote for your favorite, and tell us why you like them. If your fav is not listed above, tell me and I'll add them.
  17. The lore can wait a bit. Let's focus more on the lore of the region itself for the time being. Right now, the region does not even have a TEAM-XYZ that's doing generically evil things (or so it seems). Then we can use all the info to bring forth the pokemon and the logic behind each type (I know Zim has those). On the same note, please fix the pokedex in v1.5 because it gets cut off and we can't read the whole entry in many cases. Also, Sorry couldn't help it. btw when the time comes and our pokemon reach a certain level, it will be very easy to find out the base stats of each one of them by reverse using the formula I wasn't planning to do it anytime soon, but let's say, rach lvl50, and someone will do it (without looking at the PBS of course). Also, Zim, while people wait for ep2, will you guys be presenting the newer pokemon, or the ones you haven't yet and are in the first episode? I do not remember Elftik or the nerd getting an intro. Was that deliberate, or were they not important enough?
  18. How do I add a poll to one of my threads or change the name?

Edit the first post and go into full editor. You can change the title and to the right there is a manage poll topic option.

Dunno about adding polls, but if you mean changing the name of the thread, you're able to do that with the "edit" function.

  19. I know, but still... not sure about it. To me it looked like a Ebounny substitute. Anyway, I hope you do not get ahead of yourselves adding Normal type to every second introductory pokemon lol . My suggestion now would be to have it as pure fighting type, since Ebounny makes use of the Normal STAB alright (and has high HP to go with that), or at least for the evo to somehow diss the Normal type. You'll have other mons to support all types. Oh, and no Rock types so far. I saw it was a Jackalope, but aside from you guys, I'm not sure everyone knew the term.
  20. I am steadily completing the dex myself (but not presenting you Roober's evo yet ) However, I have to ask? Why have 2 bunny pokemon? Ok say you have them, why include them both in ep1? They are totally different, but... they are both bunnies. If the final evo is completely different, people won't mind, but now they seem very similar.
  21. I get the skepticism, but man... I already found 4, caught 2, and released 1 of them due to bad IVs. THEN I learned I need one to get a PK, and don't really want to send away mine (which is lvl11 right now). I just came across a wild Chromalyd, while searching for another tik for the trade. Is this not as rare as Elftik? I only found 1 of those.
  22. On the same note, what level is Elftik's evolution? I want to know before I make my "tik army"
  23. Ok it appeared you solved the other issues first... Anyway, it's not hard to adapt, I'm just wondering if the option is available. The only thing that bugs me is that I've used to the other controls and when trying to do something fast I mess up with the controls and lose unnecessary time doing it lol.
