    Since you've finished Eva (TV), I also want to show you this.  From a PS2 Eva game: a theoretical way to get have Kaworu survive.  Personally, I feel like the convincing process it well done (or at least good enough).  I'm glad it's subtitled (through annotations-if you don't have them enabled).

     

    Spoiler

    Involves raising Kaworu's will to live while keeping Shinji's morale (?) high enough.
