Now just waiting for art of the female protag. Cute as fuck. I just realized...the fact that the designs are relatively plain can mean only one thing... Character Customizationnnnn~ EDIT: Actually the Japanese trailer pretty much confirms it.

Sion Sion really could not keep up with the all too dynamic Riv. A girl like that who could pull off one-liners at the drop of a hat was always the type of person who would just keep barreling forward without a care in the world and eventually leave Sion in the dust. It was all she could do to try and grab onto the coattails of people like that. "Slice, then cauterize." Sion muttered. It was not a bad strategy, per se. There were still a crapton of unknown factors left but there was plenty of sense in at least trying to go with Riv's suggestion. Once again, she aimed her palms at the large animal. In rapid succession, she started firing ice spears, one after the other from alternating palms at each of the tongues.

She may be the assailant, but I don't think she has anything to do with him feeling weakness. It's either an external mana drain, poisonous dog bite, or a cursed dog…or perhaps the dog can do a mana drain…that would be stupid. I'm certain that dog bite has to do with it, given the visual focus we had on it before the moment of weakness in the previous episode.

She never looked away during the so-called 'Clap of Wrath'. There was no point in doing so. After all, Yuzuki only desired to take the world around herself in. When it was all over, Yuzuki turned her head to take in the details of what the man had explained to be a small-scale example divine judgement. She could only describe it as pure and absolute disorder. Everything around the group had dissolved into a state of continuously increasing entropy. She turned back to look at the man's hands that were now completely red and covered in steam. She could almost compare it to a bloating pipe that was barely holding its fluid and was ready to burst. But, that was not as pressing a matter as what the man had implied. It was either a nuclear arm or an out of control god. Though, something in Yuzuki told her to doubt the former despite the latter seeming far more absurd a possibility. "So, you're saying that you are unable to determine what the attack was or even who it came from. Meanwhile, we are all stranded on this island with no method to connect to the rest of the world." She crossed her arms and closed an eye. "In that case, nothing else really matters except for the prioritization of survival and escape from the island. Finding all of those answers will be pointless if we have no way to use them."

Rabies was just something I threw out there. Perhaps that dog ate something toxic to humans and it finally took visible effect on Subaru after that amount of time. Though, you've brought up the main problem in our theorizing: magic is a thing and we don't have a set of rules that we can use to rule out magic. This isn't a typical mystery where I can invoke Knox's 2nd and rule out the supernatural.
