Billboard: Advertise/Explain Rooms Here. (Showdown)
Chase replied to Chase's topic in Welcome Center
Room: Cabin Seven Privacy Level: -somewhat- Private, to become a regular visitor, you -must- be considered an acquantance of mine. Momentary visitation could be granted upon request. Purpose: I work as a camp counselor during the summer, and I wanted to offer people a place for immediate feedback to just show up and let whatever may be bothering them or whatever they may be struggling with out in a place where it doesn't have to be "moderated" or "filtered". There will be a few people with room moderation duties and myself that will be expected to keep whatever you say in the room confidential. If you don't have a rank, you may be asked to leave, in order to grant whoever is speaking their right to confidentiality. Also, if you want to momentarilly complain about something and you don't expect the listeners to do something about it (otherwise just known as "venting" or "letting off steam"), this is where you can do that. Requests: Please don't start fights. If you are going to complain about someone in the community or something to do with others here, ensure that you are either away from that person, or that both of you will be able to behave and work things out as professionals. -
Fellow moderators, if you feel this topic is best moved somewhere else, feel free to move it. Thanks~ Hear Ye, Hear Ye, For 459th time, Reborn's chatroom has been moved to Pokemon Showdown. While we've always had rooms in the form of "Backchannels" on Pokemon Online, many of them served different uses and "privacy" is varied. Sometimes, an event would take place in one of these backchannels and it required advertisement on the server, and it would result in those channels being opened up to the masses. Because of the varying degrees of privacy, I've made this thead with the hopes that room owners could explain their rooms, level of privacy or joining requirements, and purposes, so that we could help them out as room owners by keeping out a few more people that aren't wanted, as well as spread the word for upcoming events and times when the room will be open to all. I'll leave an example (which doesn't have to be accurate for now, it's just to give you all a template): --- Room Name: PZA Auction Hall Level of Privacy: Open to Public, Auction Representatives (Voice), Drivers, Moderators, Owners are allowed to speak (Mod Chat enabled) Purpose: To serve as a medium for the Pokemon: Zero Alliance Auction that occurs Sunday evenings. Everyone is allowed to join but those who are participating in the auction will be the only ones allowed to speak. Come watch as the types are shuffled and bid for, and as the power swings from Alliance to Alliance! --- Couple more things: - If you use an image to advertise your room, you may do so here as long as it doesn't break community rules in anyway. - You may also update your room with "Event Schedules" should you choose, both here on this thread, and in your room intros. - You may use Private as a level of privacy, as long as you LIST the requirements to join (I.e. Must be a part of clan, Must be known by room owner, etc.) All that being said, farewell, and happy sailing! ~ Hilda

Alright, looks like "something" happened positively 1. I'll leave this topic available for updating, in case it mysteriously begins to -not- work again, and 2. I've labelled it "resolved" for now. In a few days if there's no problems I or someone else may take the thread down, so if you have any problems, be sure to update this thread so I can remove the tag and give you some more time to get help! - Hilda

Ahh, that would explain that, haha! I'm a little bit worried about passing the physical qualifications needed during Basic Training.

Gaming General is not quite the place for Showdown issues, as it's a moshpit for gaming content that is either not related to Pokemon at all or is, but loosely (Smash Bros.) I've moved this thread to the Grand Hall, as it seems to be closely related to "site errors", albeit this is our Showdown server we're talking about.

Hey! I'll have you know, your typical Meteor Grunt does indeed have a Rock type pokemon, and most of the remaining grunts do by the end of the game. Ya'll need to open your lids and take a gander at the trainers doc in your Reborn folder. (Spoilers if you read it backwards and haven't progressed to that point yet.) - Meteor A-...Grunt Hilda

Howdy. I'm Hilda. Welcome to the online presence, and don't hesitate to ask questions.

Don't hold back, sailor. I can appreciate it when players do things like I do that seem unnecessary (such as read as much dialogue as possible) to grasp the plot as collectively as possible. One of the instances where -I- felt the same way is in the characterization of Solaris. He's the perfect example of Hitchcock's "dog-kicker" (at least for a majority of the game) and only seemingly exists from the point he orders his Garchomp to attack Amaria onward to emphasize that he is evil and ruthless. As a lore-hound, it did slightly annoy me that I was being left in the dark and the cycle was repeating itself. At that point, I had to remember that this game is -not- finished yet. I'll put it here for emphasis. Meteor's intentions are to rid Reborn of .....pretty much anything that lives, at the very least Pokemon and humans. If something seems "extreme", it isn't to say "Hey the game is edgy", but really is to say "The end justifies the means".

Kindred Oblivion, Your last post was hidden due to what I perceived as potential flame-bait and disrespect. I do understand the argument you were trying to make, and I appreciate the use of an info-graphic, but the construction of post can be conceivably a firestarter. The argument has been had elsewhere on the forums and in the past already, and from experience it has not rendered fruitful discussion. The brashness of the post warranted it being kept from view. If you want to present an argument, please do so in a respectful manner, and try not to use anything (language, info-graphics, etc) that could be easily perceived as flame-bait and offensive. Thanks~ Hilda (Minerva)

Anything past this point could be considered a "spoiler". You have been warned. --- So, after being unexpectedly surprised, I was able to join in on the hype that is Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. It meant a whole lot to me because Generation III was the generation where I was most over the moon with Pokemon in general. One of my crowning pokemon (and possibly life) achievements was completing the National Pokedex in Ruby back in 2005. Naturally the announcement of these games last spring was exciting, but there were a few things that caused me, as a fan of the generation, to feel uneasy. The first promos that were released hinted at a "brand-new adventure", which alluded to something that...may actually NOT have been a remake at all. Knowing the maiden Gen 6 titles (X and Y) were significantly easier, I was worried about a crazy lowering in difficulty that may not have been alterable unless you committed to 'Locke challenge or some other silly mass restriction, all because out of all the generations I have played, Hoenn was the most difficult region to traverse and was the region I was consistently not prepared for. After playing a game like Reborn, and being used to lots of water and puzzles that made you want to throw your GBA-SP out of a moving vehicle in frustration, I was afraid of what kind of changes GF would implement and knocked the game before I would even convince myself to try it. Then it was gifted to me. As soon as I had it, that's when the hype train took off like a nuclear missile. Ironically, the things I enjoyed the most, was how GF implemented the "new"....while still keeping the "old". It felt like the perfect pot of stew. I'll elaborate from here. Character and Story Enhancement - I played Omega Ruby. This means that the iconic baddies in my game wore Red, and the box legendary was some red dinosaur lookin' thing that normally has a pitiful 4x weakness to water. (normally). This also meant that Archie, the leader of opposing team Aqua, was the token bad guy ally. Here's a few thoughts on Omega Ruby's key players, and how they have dramatically 'Wowed' me throughout this play-though... Magma Leader Maxie - Maxie fits the ruthless evil genius stereotype in Ruby, but he 'owns' it in it's 3DS reprise. He refers to the player as merely 'child' and is quick to forget any mishaps when battling said player (as seen by his ridiculously adorable defeat pose) His quick reassurances and determination culminate in at first victorious glee, and then total disbelief when finding out his actions were actually quite devastating rather than helpful. His biggest selling point is his expressiveness, which I felt dramatically overshadowed, yet payed homage to, it's predecessor. Magma Admins Tabitha and Courtney - Tabitha is a male. Got it? Good. His actual name is Tabitabi, and he is the second in command. He is portrayed in the remake as an ambitious admin who may have originally had hopes of taking over the entire team someday. Laughs a lot, and has the ego to back up his ambitiousness, yet is the most touching near the end, when it's he that tries to dissuade his superior from plunging the world into terrible heat and incoming destruction. Courtney gains a personality since the previous iteration of that game...and it's probably my favorite poke-personality in the entire series. She speaks sparsely, is mostly apathetic...until she is -more- than empathetic all of a sudden. You get hints of a previous or restrained "romantic" love for her boss, and even some "intrigue" in the player character, which results in her having one of the most unsettling scripts in the game. Aqua Leader Archie - Archie is an absolute champion as the token ally. He refers to the player as "Little Scamp" (a somewhat pirate-y title) and admires their skills. He seems to be smarter than his scientist counter-part, and is ready to make reparations for the destruction the Aqua/Magma feud had caused. --- Fly-to-Route - Lookin' for Pokemon? Need to hit up a few previous trainers you saw were ready for a re-match? Don't have certain HM users on hand? Just pick a route through the Fly function. You'll fly to the route sign indicating the mid-way point of the route. --- Trainer's Eyes/Match Call - On your AreaNav interface, you will sometimes see an icon that depicts a stick figure wearing a ballcap with a poke ball. This icon takes you to what -was- the Trainer's Eyes interface on the old PokeNav 10 years ago, and it functions like Match Call, indicating that someone on the route you are on, is ready for a re-match. Yay, grinding and more money! --- Sneaking up on Hidden Ability/Rare Move Pokemon - The DexNav has a neat function of alerting you when a "hidden Pokemon" is nearby. If you see an "exclamation point" in the center of the magnifying glass, though, you should PROBABLY drop whatever you are doing and sneak up on the cause of the ping. You could either get a pokemon with a rare move (such as the tutorial Poochyena with Elemental/Matter Fang move) or even a Pokemon sporting it's Hidden Ability. NICE! --- Mega Evolution is fitted snugly and not overblown into the original story - You have a chance to pick up Mega Stones throughout your journey...but you don't even know that you're supposed to until you hear Maxie/Archie talk about Mega Evolution later in the game. Some stones can be found as you progress through map areas, giving you a couple of options before Steven finally equips you with a Mega Bracelet. The exposition is mostly centered around the Weather Duo and Primal Reversion, which makes sense because it's new story content spicing up an old dialogue. It was nice to see the "new norm" not dominate an "old" game, yet still find it's place. --- '04 Revisited - Hoenn -was- indeed confirmed, and it was brought to life without getting too much of a face-lift. I almost cried at some of the old sights that were painted in a 3D world yet not significantly changed. This happened so much that the things GF -did- tamper with (Mauville) were aesthetically pleasing and added to the enchanting nostalgia trip while playing. --- Perfect amount of Reform - several functions were "changed" instead of scrapped, so that they fit with the story, and were not cast out or woefully clashed with other content. Sure, it was a remake, but it was -vastly- different without changing the experience. Perfect amount of spice.
