  1. "BUT PROOOTO HUNTER, THERE'S ALREADY A FAVORITE POKEMON THREA-" stop it. The point of this thread is to share your favorite Pokemon by region. Why by region? Easy, because the region dictates what kind of Pokemon other people might use the next time they start a journey there. Let's kick it off with Kanto, because that seems like the most fitting spot to start. 151 Monsters who hold the title of "the OG", but in my eyes, only 5 of them make a top five list, while I do have a favorite legendary. So - that's going to be the format I use, a top five of regular(-ish) Pokemon, and one Pokemon from that region that is one of a kind and special. You guys can do what you want with your list though! Let's do it. 5. So, everyone knows that the premier powerhouse Fighting type in Kanto... is NOT Primeape. That title would belong to Machamp, with the Hitmon duo and Poliwrath making for strong special consideration - but Mankey's availability in Kanto is very nice if you wanted to get started training a brawler right away. It's also faster than Machamp. Also, it's one of the first fighting types you can get in Pokemon Reborn (Obsidia Slums) alongside Makuhita (which does outclass the poor guy) and Pancham (who also outclasses Mankey because it is immune to Psychic type moves, nullifying a weakness completely.) No matter which game you play in, this Pokemon finds itself in others' shadows, and I find that pretty "samey". It's a good reason to be perpetually angry anyway. 4. Sabrina. was pretty difficult for kid Hunter to take down - and it wasn't until later that I found out Alakazam DID have a Pokemon other than overleveled Bug Pokemon that it was weak to. Gengar, along with Alakazam, remains very competitive Pokemon and is highly respected. It gained the Poison typing, which gained a ton of value with the release of the Fairy type, and it used to have the ability Levitate to add to a considerable list of immunities. 3. Fearow is a Pokemon that has a painfully low BST and is outclassed entirely by the likes of Dodrio. That being said, It's an absolute early game gem in Pokemon Reborn, able to hold it's own until about Aya, by then assuring you have access to several more flying type Pokemon, such as another one of my favorites for a later list. It can learn the super satisfying move Mirror Move, which, if it survives a Dragon type attack and it throw that same attack right back at the drake who fired it. It also picks up a very unique coverage move in Drill Run, which allows this flying type to finish off ALL of it's biggest problems, Rock and Electric types. Another Pokemon that runs Drill Run is Beedrill. Can this indicate that Fearow gets a Mega Evolution? I'd dig it. 2. I often find that Ground types are usually a staple on my team. Electric types are fairly uncommon, and when they show up in any of my Pokemon playthroughs it always causes me to panic a little. Playing through FireRed, I used Golem for the first time. Kanto is a wonderful "trade evolution" region (that was the best feature in the game, using the Link Cable to get super good pokemon like Golem, Machamp, Gengar, and Alakazam.) It was very efficient. As an offensive Pokemon it can hit hard and hit surprisingly fast for a Rock type, and while it seems to be lacking in defense (especially with it's dual weakness to Water and Grass type moves) it can delay issues with the ability Sturdy. My Golem in FR ended up wielding the deadly EdgeQuake combo, which hits virtually everything for at least neutral damage. 1. I had this thought as a kid, that if you wanted to win the game, you wanted to pick the Pokemon on the box. Since I got Red, I had to pick Charmander as my starter...and lose to Brock and Misty a heck of a lot before Charizard became virtually unstoppable. I guess, what I like about Charizard is that for the longest time, it was a humble draconic appearing lizard. In Generation 4, Stealth Rocks obliterated this things "meh" status by making half of it's HP get lost on the switch in. However, it gained some serious boost in Generation 6 by getting not only one, but TWO Mega Evolutions. It's an early game paragon in Reborn with Dragon Rage in it's moveset, allowing it to get off 40 damage for free in the part of the game where most Pokemon have 40 or less hp to work with. This is, the true original gangster. I don't buy people claiming it to be overrated at all - even if Bulbasaur has it's uses and Squirtle is the preferred starter for Speed-Runners. Kanto Legendary of Merit What's cooler than a dragon that's partially perpetually on fire? a bird that is COMPLETELY perpetually on fire. The bird trio is a super awesome hunt-and-find set of legendary Pokemon, and my favorite is Moltres, a Pokemon I like even more than Mew and Mewtwo. Honorable Mentions: Lapras, Nidoqueen, Victreebel, Electrode, Clefable
  2. People seem to get pretty hung up on why "x" Pokémon isn't available and love to throw around the effectiveness card. BB Greninja is indeed ridiculous, so I would assume it's raw power makes it a late game Pokémon if not post game for sure. --- HOWEVER. Have you stopped to consider that some things in Reborn aren't just axed "just because it's too good?" Gyarados is an interesting example. It's late enough in the game that gym leaders have surpassed Red's total level average, meaning that in normal titles Magikarp should have been a Pokémon you should catch 80 levels ago. Is the argument for not having non-mega pain-to-train gonna-be-4x-weak-to-Tbolt Magikarp in the game AT ALL still sensible? No. In New Reborn City it should be feasible to fish for Magikarp. It's almost purely descended to the status of memehood, and around these points, it's a good reason because Gyarados tore through Reborn, however, that doesn't mean releasing at around the time you fight ADRIENN to be nearly as broken as releasing him at the start of the game. Not releasing him is more akin to reverence and respect of a meme than it is preventing powercreep. I would hope Amethyst incorporates a better reason than "it's too good" to keep Ash-Greninja out of the final product. It should absolutely be treated with Uber lengendary status and not be a story available Pokémon with only a regard to power, but even legendaries are slated to be in the game. Ash not being in the world Reborn is in is a fantastic rational. There's no reason for Battle Bond greninja to exist if the inspiration for it's form doesn't exist. Things are axed/relocated for many more reasons than powercreep. Perhaps, Ame would rather players not use a broken Greninja over a Pokémon you can obtain EARLIER in the story.
  3. I don't want to get your hopes up, but Reborn has a tendency of being lock step with the main series on mechanics unless the mechanics are truly a detriment to the game's experience - such as having Hidden Machines stay are they were rather than being Technical Machines with overworld use enabled. So, what this means is that if Sun and Moon ushered in a staple mechanic in PokeRide, Reborn might just adopt it. Not positive, not a promise, but just might. --- There is a matter such as Ash-Greninja, where Ash doesn't make a canon appearance in Reborn and thus there wouldn't be a good explanation for having Battle Bond Greninja in the game, forcing the the devs to make the decision not to try and shoehorn it in. However, HMs are a good example of areas Reborn might be flexible, as nobody really likes having to back track to a move delete person or have to rotate in an HM slave.
  4. The narrative thing about the player holding a grudge against Meteor blowing up the train station could make sense - but it would have to be after changing their motive from simply wanting to go on a Pokémon journey. Unlike the player, who gets access to Amethyst overseeing a somewhat inhumane interrogation involving a Torkoal, the protagonist doesn't know who bombed Grandview Station until Julia informs the player of Meteor's plan to blow up her Gym and is asked to come along. This already comes after the player has decided they are going to take on the League for other reasons - so the vendetta against Meteor seems to be a drop in the bucket. I would LOVE to see the player act as a proactive protagonist. It's the main reason I've been watching this thread, because after a certain while, some of the narrative events feel like player intervention would be DUE, let alone cool to see. Overworld traps would be fair - particularly in antagonist domains if the player finds the things needed to set them via exploration. The first Aster/Eclipse fight is probably the first gut check in the game (unless you didn't pick up the Normal gem and the potion before picking a Pokémon, then Victoria has a chance of making you sweat.) and it would be cool to have a particular edge in the fight. Tampering with some of the machinery to turn the sprinkler system on, for example, would cause the rain effect in the factory, shutting down Magby and Solrock a bit and helping out Fern (you know, before we lose all desire to narrative-wise) in being a better partner. Overworld Quick Time Events - styled somewhat after games like 'Until Dawn' could be pretty neat. For example, you can deflect the blow Amaria would receive from Garchomp by sending out the first Pokémon in your party with a single keystroke to take the attack (resulting in a fainted Pokémon in your party, and an unharmed Amaria.) Opportunities for the player to persuade other characters and win verbal arguments with characters. Using Pokémon as our overworld tools ourselves (moving Meteor grunts/Orderlies/Cultists out of the way with a large Pokémon like Cain does.) --- I have to say I am completely opposed to the notion the trainer needs to focus their attention on the opponent's Pokémon in any way. If you want to Pokémon battle, most of your items are covered by Pokémon learnsets already. The Trainer is a bridge between the overworld and the battle screen - and we already have TMs that get us places in the overworld. That should be the basis for allowing our protagonist to act - with our Pokémon partners - who function as our partners and are most effective weapons against the world around us - as our main go to. Sidearming should only be done when other humans are involved. I do respect your wish to avoid making the Protagonist a murderer, and I agree that it doesn't have to go quite that far - but we can talk pain, coercion, and other methods of making our Protagonist not so much of a reactionary mute and more of an active member of the protagonist alliance.

CinemaSins' "Everything Wrong With [Movie Title]" series. One of the sins is having an antagonist eat an apple in a scene. It happens so much the channel has considered it a trope that apples make bad guys look more evil, so Jeremy, the voice over the videos, calls it a sin to have your antagonist eat an apple, and says something along the lines of what my status reads out to be. This is also seen in spin-offs regarding other forms of media.

  6. From an "ending" perspective, we have yet to see what the possibilities are - but it's been divulged that the players choices and actions at the very least affect their relationship at the end of the road with other characters in what is known as "the relationship point system." IceCreamSandWitch has a pretty good detailed thread about it somewhere around here. What this means for the endgame regarding the player is unknown, but the player's actions shape the endings for the rest of the cast at the very least -without- adding a Renegade mode. It also means that the players actions -already- are quite tangible. These endings have been speculated to have the highest point valued character interact with the player in a special way (a waifu system) to having characters with low scores suffer bad endings and makes for loads of replayability if only to find out what the deal is with all of these endings. There - as I'm sure has already been pointed out - is also personal decisions to be made that make the story compelling, such as giving the Ruby Ring to Blake, or finding all of the police officers before you find Corey in order to have him exposed as the Meteor Agent you encountered in the overgrown Beryl Ward. Some of these decisions cause split routes, such as choosing to fight Dr. Connal or Sirius at the Yureyu building causes different allies to be kidnapped by the Meteors at the Belrose mansion. --- Finally @Akui, I don't think people would have any disagreements with how an anti-hero can also be inspirational - but I don't think your League members are going to reward someone who doesn't conduct themselves in a monolithic manner. Shepherd has ALWAYS been adaptable and flexible in their game. You could go renegade much faster in ME than you can in Reborn, where 15 minutes in you're storming a Meteor building and playing hero. Pokémon has a notoriously linear design for an RPG. It's the nature of the beast. I find the player acting like a scoundrel problematic with the overacting theme of Pokémon. The point of a League challenge is to adhere to the established rules (unless you're Lance...then you can teach Dragonite Barrier and evolve it earlier than you should be able to..) The Reborn protagonist doesn't embark on a journey to save any world at all at the start. They find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time, with many of the wrong people, and in order to successfully chart a path to glory that they set out for, they have to do so by interacting with a very dependent cast of characters that have different strengths and weaknesses and by helping said cast with whatever needs doing. Once x task is done, the player's REWARD is an official League match. Given the way things happen in Reborn, having someone fight you in order to help your own personal journey is a blessing. When you get a gift, you respond in kind. If you don't - it's a little confusing how you can expect the ends to justify the means here. Here's the interesting truth bomb though. It's very likely that even though Adrienn recently fired up the player worship train again - that the real "protagonist" of the game is the group of allies you are helping try to restore and bring their home peace. This is something akin to what the main series did - where there's a stronger argument for Lillie being the game's protagonist than the player in Sun and Moon. If you act like a punk, I disagree that upstarts would want your advice. They -might- want your title as Champion (which doesn't seem rightfully earned if your doing it by abusing the Pokémon on the other side of the field personally.) - but their heroes will be your friends, the people you screwed over on your way to the top.
  7. Commander - you see where I'm coming from - or at least where from the opposite side. In every Pokémon game, the player can use any strategy they want to take on their league challenge because nothing is really seen as "cheating" (and as we've grown up, there's been less and less of a need to because the game feels more and more easy.) The characters we defeat along the way tend to be in awe of our skill. NPC's begin to lean on us because of it, and there's just always a certain respect we earn from the characters in the story. Reborn isn't so different, even if there are very clearly characters that warm up to us slowly (Titania) or not at all (Fern). As the player goes on a tear through the league, you start catching compliments like you would in your travels in main game regions. A Hotshot calls you skilled, a badge after another Hotshot disses you and doesn't let you use the Opal Bridge. Charlotte calls you "a wrecking ball." - despite being better than you at the time. Saphira, who is more than capable of doing things herself, is not afraid of entrusting you with precious objects. The player follows the same cycle. They climb up the ladder, and they earn respect. The only difference between Reborn and Alola or something is really that nobody gives it to you when you get off your train (in an especially unceremonious manner.) Honestly, In-game Ame is like the only "significant" exception to this, as she doesn't seem to hold the player in any particular regard like the likes of Prof. Sycamore or Kukui do. She just hands you a 'mon and sends you on your way, encountering you a few times as you need information from her or her to contact replacement leaders, and even in her final hour she understates that she's the Champion of Reborn and that it was a necessary holding of the title. Her praise (and maybe even her hope) for you as the player character is conveyed by her Fairy gym leader post mortem. It's probably the most striking non acknowledgement by any character "on your team" in the game. The protagonist is said to "glow" by a certain little girl with a Jirachi doll who claims to see a lot of things others don't. Perhaps the "canon" for Vero, Alice, Kuro, Lucia, Deci, or Ari is that they - solely - are the heart transplant Reborn desperately needs. As much as the player does some silly things and as much as the player's allies toe the line between good and chaotic, there is the feeling that, from the "hero" perspective, that's the ONLY option. Imagine trying to hold that narrative while pulling some shady stuff like Caltrops and running up to a Pokémon and tazing it. There's definitely story elements that make an anti-hero protagonist idea seem intriguing, and there are times where a challenge in the League would be made easier if we could make like Solaris and pull some crazy stunt. However, the narrative has plans for the character - even if it's the same old putting a silent protagonist on a pedestal. It's probably because - the major pursuit of a Pokémon game seems to be becoming some sort of champion. Go figure.
  8. Touche, although Julia seems to rely more on normal type moves such as SonicBoom and Self-Destruct than she does boosted electric type moves. However, the difference is that a Pokémon is the one causing the effect, and if you really wanted to use Mud-Sport, said Zigzagoon is certainly available for one to do that with already. The Gym Leaders already don't seem to try too hard at fixing their fields after they have been changed- and it's not a part of their strategy to waste turns trying to set their effects the way they want. The player ACTIVELY doing so - in the stead of their Pokémon - seems like something that you shouldn't be able to do - as a trainer - in the heat of battle. Yeah, the Field Effects often benefit the Leader, but they are already fallible without having to be underhanded. --- Again - I think the moral ambiguity angle is fantastic - but it needs to be focused. At the end of the day, the player character travels to Reborn to go on a Pokémon journey, and while they certainly can commit petty crimes and witness their allies doing some pretty crazy stuff, there isn't a need for the silent protagonist to make power moves against Pokémon (and apparently trainers) that don't have any business getting undercut in that way. Now, Team Meteor, the orderlies at the orphanage, and the cultists from Subseven? Those people are genuine threats, and the player should focus their energy in dealing with them in whatever way they feel is necessary.
  9. By saying you had to make moral choices that involve killing or not killing certain characters - I was in no way trying to state that players should have the option to murder off as much of the cast as they please. These would have to be scripted events in certain parts of the story that effect things like relationship points, story arcs, and the like that isn't something TOTALLY abused by the player. It wouldn't be available for things like normie trainers, League opponents, and even most common Meteor grunts. The option would be limited to main antagonists, and deciding whether to kill or spare comes with unnamed risks (more characters on your side being killed by an upcoming story event, missing out on Pokémon or items, having no help in solving a difficult upcoming puzzle.) --- This is the other problem I see with your item idea. You could potentially also aggressively fight League opponents - your allies in the story - with these same underhanded tactics. And while it's simple enough to have an error message say "You can't cheat!" or something - the difficulty probably comes in coding which trainers you can and can't use these items on. If you win a battle against Charlotte by cheating, she might also be able to outright deny you your badge, making you fight her again. I see item-based shenanigans as potentially abused - and coupled with the fact that the Pokémon involved in any of these scenarios are not our enemies first and foremost, this doesn't seem like a great way at being the chaotic protagonist.
  10. Let me just say that this is a super neat premise, as Reborn's protagonists are confirmed to be at an age old enough to make hard choices in order to survive and that Reborn's environment is exceptionally gray morality-wise. Where this falls through however, is that the victims of our protagonists' retaliation happen to be the opposing Pokémon we run into - not the trainers calling the shots. --- Now, perhaps I've read too far into this - and I do that often - but it seems like your inspiration for making these items was to be able to respond to the aggressions caused against the player (I.e. Garchomp trying to assassinate you while you are distracted at the Blacksteam Factory surveying PULSE Muk.) - but Garchomp wouldn't have tried to kill the player if Solaris didn't order him to in the example I gave. The Pokémon could just be released and would no longer have to live a life of high crime and deal with the stresses that it entails. As Pokémon Reborn is inspired by the original games in the content that it uses, it's hard not to apply the lesson that is stressed in the main series games to Reborn - that Pokémon are our friends before anything else. Perhaps, this is what you assume Solaris and Garchomp and Lin and Hydreigon actually are. Friends. We can probably safely assume Saphira and Dragonite are partners, so having Dragonite murder a bunch of Meteors seems like something Dragonite was WILLING to do, as partners tend to share pursuits. Evil organizations have a tendency however, in the main series, to use Pokémon more as tools for reaching their goals. Is it safe to posit the assertion that Lin and Solaris do this with their Pokémon? If -THIS- is the case, then having the protagonist directly attack these Pokémon leaves us barking up the wrong tree. The Pokémon are simply taking orders from people who they feel they need to listen to in order to survive. As Pokémon Trainers, exacting our revenge on Pokémon would be rather unprecedented. --- I am ABSOLUTELY all for the ability for the protagonist to make hard moral choices that impact the story, and having the ability to return the favor to the likes of Solaris REALLY SHOULD be a compelling choice. I just picture the scene as the player having defeated the man, with their starter Pokémon ending Solaris' life - or not - based on the player's decision. If we're going to become the Pokémon world's mercenaries, we at least need to take care of the actual target, and not waste time making life miserable for our enemies' Pokémon - who may not be all for what their trainers are putting them through at all.
  11. I get the novelty Chinchy has - but it's shared by Swellow (and other birds) in that their very clearly birdlike features are plain sight in the real world. For me, Swellow fills the "normal" niche without angering me that it exists. Even people that like the Pokémon where it is have stated that Cinccino flinching you to death is annoying. Why is "annoying" a necessity? I don't mind "hard" - but the rule of thumb should be that the game is hard because the process of success is complex and there's room for you the player to make mistakes. You shouldn't just be shut down just because there are some items and abilities that can do that when put together. It just isn't fun to get screwed over. Plain and simple. I will give Chinchy props in that it's a good check to Fire types that want to ruin Noel's day - but not every person that plays Reborn is going to think "I should mess the field up!" - I have a picture that proves I did it without having to (It was raining in game...), and Stealth Rocks isn't reliably removed by most players and accomplishes the same goal when you have threats like Swellow and PZ running around. The players should be able to correct mistakes - not have to restart the battle over and over and hope to break through the windmill. also, ambipom does the SAME THING as Chincy, except Fake Out ensures a flinch - making it even WORSE.
  12. In celebration of finally passing the roadblock I'd had in this game for literally three years - I want to have a serious open minded conversation about Noel, the game's seventh gym leader (according to Fern... let's see - Julia, Florinia, Corey, Shelly, Kiki, Aya, Serra- with Aya replacing Corey's badge and Kiki not giving you one...that makes five....I'm probably lost somewhere, but Fern is at least right in asserting he is ahead of us when we reach the adventurine woods.) - and the Reborn League's normal type specialist. Most people complain about Reborn's difficulty because of the mechanics Amethyst and Co. put in place. My problem with Noel however isn't his field effect. Noel fights the player in a 6v6 singles match using his normal type team featuring Clefable (an exemption given to Noel specifically, according to Ame when spoken to through the gym monitor at the Orphanage - and yes, her gym tips, even though they are given very far in advance for when you actually fight Noel, still apply, as the Belrose estate has the same presumed field effect as the Orphanage arena.) --- Here's the team rundown: Noel will LEAD with Wigglytuff - which isn't a common Pokémon in competitive play....at first glance. Competitive Pokémon is a spotlight in particular with Noel's team, as many of his Pokémon have what appear to be Smogon inspired sets. Wigglytuff may not be common - but it is a normal type that can set up Stealth Rocks, which are pivotal for Noel against trainers looking to set his field on fire with incoming Pokémon of said type. Wiggly is essentially a throw-away standard lead pokemon because of this, making use of stab moves until it faints afterwards. Noel also has a Porygon-Z holding a Petaya Berry and rocking the Download ability. Download essentially picks an attacking stat at random to boost when sent out. As the player, you are hoping PZ gets saddled with a useless Physical Attack boost, as it attacks with special moves. If you are unable to faint PZ with a strong move, it will get down to the HP range to eat it's Petaya Berry - which will boost it's Special attack significantly (a deadly pair with a Sp.Attack Download.) Once that happens - you need to outspeed, or you are getting swept. Noel runs Flame Orb/Guts Swellow - a normal type Pokémon that isn't Staraptor for sure, but is just as terrifying when the conditions are set. Swellow runs Façade in it's moveset, which it gets STAB and bonus damage from with Guts, making for a wallbreaker after its Flame Orb does it's job. There's Clefable.....who's set I'm not sure of because Noel's ace actually gave me the LEAST amount of trouble. I wouldn't let the thing hang around though, bring a poison or steel type, or get the burning field up. It was/possibly still is an "overused" Pokémon for a reason. For those of you stuck in Generation 5, don't let Noel's Clefable formerly being a Normal type fool you. Girafarig threatens Fighting types, which provide the only outright "weakness" for Noel's normal types, as well as give him another special attacker for balance. ...and then there's Cinccinno.....a pokemon who is so annoying I can't even spell it's name correctly with confidence. This....thing has the ability Skill Link, which allows for any move that can hit 5 times in a single turn - to do so every. single. time. It also has great coverage in Bullet Seed, Rock Blast, and it's personal move, Tail Slap. Finally, it seems like it's carrying the King's Rock, which makes any move the pokemon holding it uses have a chance to flinch the target. This applies for every "hit", and not just the turn, so if you get hit with 5 Rock Blasts, the flinch chance is applied for all five of those hits. --- "But Hunter, how is complaining about Noel different from complaining about the field effects with other leaders, and why should it matter? The game is supposed to be challenging!" 1. Cinccinno isn't a Pokémon that is challenging to deal with at all. if you have a faster status setter, or break through the flinch chance to land a status, you can slow Cinccinno down to wallop it no problem. It doesn't exist on Noel's team to posit a challenge at all. In fact, most Pokémon will still be standing after this thing uses a move. 2. Skill Link+King's Rock isn't a matter of Reborn mechanics. It's just as frustrating in a 6th Gen RU match when another player brings it along as it is when Noel is using it. There's no creative license Amethyst can claim in defending the Pokémon. She has to simply own that it's there to be oppositional to the player in the only way it knows how, by being absolutely annoying. Or I guess she can say it's cute - but that's not the part I'm taking exception to. 3. Field effects make the game FUN and interesting. There's absolutely nothing fun about having your Pokémon unable to do anything, even when it has the type advantage, the stats advantage, and can somehow survive Cinchy's excellent coverage. --- Now, I know Amethyst isn't FINISHED with Reborn quite yet - and that's one of the major reasons I'm comfortable making this sorta scathing critique public. I also know many of you are a lot better at Reborn than I am, and maybe it really is just my aptitude for the game that holds me back instead of Cinchy actually being frustrating. So, I'm okay with comments simply telling me to "get gud". However, I really think Noel's team could be predicated significantly less on frustrating the players by completely rendering their Pokémon useless and still be a "hard" battle. With Generation 7, there's several unique normal types to consider in it's place. Komala for example, can't be statused at all thanks to always being asleep. Bewear is a significantly bulky Normal/Fighting type thanks to it's ability Fluffy. Drampa is a Normal Dragon that seems pretty cool...then there's things like Toucannon...who can also have skill link but picks up more weaknesses to compensate if we REALLY have to go with a Skill Link flinch abuser. ----- TL:DR Noel's "gimmick" is that he's a barebones normal monotype trainer that adheres to Smogon's recommended sets, and relies heavily on the effectiveness of his Pokémon's builds to win the match. All of this provides him with a fairly difficult fight in 5 out of 6 instances on his team, with the outlier being Cinccinno. Cinccinno can be replaced with another Normal type without compromising the difficulty of Noel's battle and keeping up with his premise. Replacing Cinccinno with something like a unique Gen 7 Pokémon will also bring his team up to the current Pokémon world and provide him with something his battle with Cinccinno on his team lacks - actual fun.
  13. At the moment I'm playing three games. Pokémon Reborn - I finally have a computer that's able to run the game normally, and I'm going to be doing this. For reals this time. Fire Emblem Heroes - Yes, it's a mobile game that is geared around a gacha system. That's okay. The game is extraordinarily friendly to free players. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
  14. in order to justify a bump - I'm going to try and offer a meaningful post. This game is still pretty lively among the community - just check out the Discord channel. So. It's Hero Fest - and it's a great time to start pulling for a good Hero to start using as a new player. If you're new. Listen up. The Art of Rerolling is critical. When you start out, getting your first hero is massively important to ensure you are able to start mowing down the games story and start farming orbs. You'll get 15 orbs from the tutorial, and 3 from the rest of the prologue missions bringing your total to 18, then you'll get 4/5 orbs from celebration/daily log-in bonuses, which gets you to around 25 orbs. Just like resetting a Pokémon game for a shiny or a good nature, you're going to keep uninstalling and re-installing Heroes until you get something good with your starting orbs. IV spreads don't matter yet, you just need a good Hero. The Heroes that you should pull for -in my opinion- currently are Ike - Hero Fest - Ike is a solid story mode clearing swordsman who comes with Heavy Blade and Swordbreaker in his kit. This set allows him to duel reds effectively despite being red himself. The icing on the cake however is Ike's personal weapon, Ragnell, which will allow Ike to counter enemies from 2 spaces away on the enemy phase. Julia - Hero Fest - Julia comes from the world of Geanealogy of the Holy War and is a highly resistant green mage. She will serve you well throughout your Heroes experience due to also getting access to Naga's Tome, which is essentially Falchion for mages. Ninian - Hero Fest - Ninian will immediately cross out your need for a dancer and is the most defensive refresher available. She also can attack enemies from two range. She will be summoned from blue orbs. Celica - Tempest Trials - Celica is an S tier red mage who is notably able to fit on various teams, making her perfect for a story run due to being easy to build a team around. Her Ragnarok tome will do massive damage when she's at full hp. She also can help you climb the Trials by giving you a points bonus, where she also gets raised stats. Sonya - Tempest Trials - Sonya is a green resistance mage who has the additional trick of having a tome provide ten extra damage every time she uses a special - and she gets the low-cooldown damage boosting Moonbow as a special. She's really good. Also, boosted Tempest unit. Delthea - Tempest Trials - Delthea is an excellent blue magic nuke for the early game because she provides insane damage buffs to melee units you might want to pair with her. Delthea is also a boosted TT unit. Minerva - Life and Death banner - Minerva is one of the best fliers in the game and comes with the Life and Death skill. Be aware of archers. Summer Corrin - Nohrian Summer - A limited edition flying tome user, for what it's worth. Corrin's an interesting pull. Summer Xander - Nohrian Summer - if you like Axe units - this is a very good one to pull for. Very defensive with serviceable attack and speed. Once you have any of these banner pulls - or a unit you feel you like - you are going to want to register your Nintendo account to save your information should your phone meet an untimely demise - this will also award you with more orbs. FROM HERE ON OUT. SAVE THEM AND FEATHERS as you begin to build the rest of your team from Free units. Let's say you pull a Celica for Tempest Trials bonuses - giving you a red mage to start the game with. This gives you 7 units from the start, plus any of the units you may have pulled from your free beginning summoning session. Celica, Anna, Alfonse, Sharena, Virion, Raigh, and Matthew. The next unit you will want is a DANCER. Heroes has a rotation of heroes that are effectively able to serve roles in fledgling teams through "special map" battles. One of these Heroes is Olivia, from Awakening. Olivia is a sword-wielding dancer that also comes with the helpful Hone Attack C slot passive. Your team for the story should now look like this: Celica, Olivia - with Olivia giving Celica the ability to kill two units in one player phase thanks to her refreshing ability. (There may be a small badge and feather investment to get Olivia to three stars so she can unlock dance - this is worth it. You can get the badges from training tower levels.) From there - you will want a green unit who can take care of the units Celica will have trouble with. Gunter is an axe cavalier that is also a part of the rotation and is completely serviceable - and you may have pulled a green in your summoning session such as Bartre, Barst, Camilla, Raven, or so on who is better than him. Your forth slot can go to a healer, Sharena (a buffer unit who is EXCELLENT), or whatever you think your team needs. From then on - you can do the Tempest Trials up until you unlock 4* Clive - who is a serviceable lance cavalier who will have a very a high rarity level. If you're really diligent - you can even get 5* Clive guaranteed for no orbs! So, your story team - before you're ready to start churning through - should look like this. Your core unit - or your favorite Olivia A unit who covers the bases your core/favorite unit leaves open Sharena/Clive/Healer/Whatever you want. Happy Summoning.

I hang around because of the friends I've made here and a part of me won't leave with me if I tried. In the world - I am a humble Christian Studies undergraduate who aspires to minister to peoples in urban areas. I love the big cities and I want to help the people there by showing them compassion and grace where others may opt to pass them by. How did you get here? I was brought to the community by my own dabbling in Reborn the game's lore (with video games I pride myself on being a bit of a lorehound) and created this account under a different alias simply to talk about Pokémon Reborn - I discovered said game because of a certain youtuber a lot of us probably know about. What are you responsible for? I'm sure the auths would say something like "the pain in my neck" here. I'm responsible for holding earnest political discussions on this board, as well as some fun builds in Fire Emblem Heroes you can use. Because nothing goes better together like Donald Trump and Gacha games. (...yeah, I'm probably not changing that relationship status any time soon.) Which post best describes you? There are a few - I'm someone that likes to use underrated units and mons and what not because tierlists are merely guidelines and I like to be free from that kind of negativity. I'm someone that can point out the misconceptions people like me have about the species of human known as "the Liberal". I am someone who can complain about President Trump even though I identify as a Republican. There's posts about my favorite Pokémon, my music tastes, and other things that are even more literal as to who I am. I've....been here a bit longer than I thought. What can we talk about? Anything - if I haven't scared you off yet. Closing Statements I am worth lending an ear to and hitting up. That's....not to mean I want people to - but those who do come tend to be rewarded with a degree of loyalty. I'm not one to approach others is all. Introvert life.
  16. I think this thread is fun - and I used to use it to talk about builds with characters that normally aren't great. With Felicia pretty much finished (I'm pleased with the result) I want to talk about another unit F2P people might have but probably won't use because the unit is overshadowed by other units. The unit in question is the previous Heir to the Rigelian throne - Berkut - a Grand Hero Battle unit who is a lance cavalier following a much better lance cavalier in Camus and will be followed by a slightly better lance cavalier in......Clive........ (That's just wrong.) So - how do we fix Intelligent Systems' blatant disrespect to one of the most well written villains in recent Fire Emblem history - and can we do it without sacrificing an arm and a leg....and what kind of monster can we make if we DO sacrifice an arm and a leg? Gotta credit youtuber Pheonixmaster1 for doing all the heavy lifting and then some, because his video actually shows quite a few ways, and I'm going to highlight two...after highlight Berkut's strengths. --- Berkut has a higher resistance stat than his direct f2p competitors - Camus and Xander. This enables him to tank magic attacks better than those two - however, he can only retaliate if he has the skill Distant Counter from Hector. If you HAVE a Hector to sacrifice, Berkut makes EXCELLENT use of Distant Counter, with certain builds giving him the ability to defeat a fully Horsie-buffed Bladetome Leo and fully merged Tharja, who comes stock with Raurblade herself, on enemy phase Berkut hits VERY. VERY, VERY hard. He has the highest attack stat of any blue cavalier in the game, and the second highest attack stat of ALL cavalry units. With all of this in mind, Berkut seems to be the underappreciated love child of Xander and Camus, inheriting Xander's speed woes and ability to take and dish out damage, while inheriting a love for lances from Camus. He breaks from the two in being able to take magic better. --- BUDGET Berkut Budget Berkut is going to want to keep his lance, giving his Res a nice boost and establishing his niche. He would like Reposition as a movement skill - enabling his utility to be increased. (a certain woodcutter or tsundere retainer is the cost) He would prefer Bonfire from A!Tiki or M!Robin to capitalize on his bulk for EXTRA damage (which he doesn't need as much as some other budget units), but he would also happily take Moonbow from a certain theatrical retainer or eldest whitewing you have lying around. --- His A skill is going to be either Fury or Attack +3. Fury boosts Berkut's stats and offers him more attack -and- bulk, at the cost of HP per action - which makes him a very decent mixed defender, while Attack +3 does the job of making Berkut hit harder and is easier to find. For Fury, a 4* Hinata is a very easy payment to make - but Gordin and Cherche can give you A+3 if you want some better synergy with the next skill. For B, Berkut will want to acquire - earnestly - Quick Riposte. This skill enables the Rigelian Heir to overcome his awful speed on enemy phase provided he meets the HP threshold to trigger the skill. This lets him double any unit that dares attack him from up close. This skill will be the enabler for Budget Berkut to succeed. You can get it from Klein fully charged if you are particularly lucky, but QR2 from Subaki is fine if you are trying to save up and at not good with Lady Luck (neither is Berkut, to be fair.) C is easy - Berkut would happilly take Threaten Def and send Peri out of your army for you. Threaten Def allows Berkut to get more wins - so it's worth getting. --- Alternative - You can keep his Cavalry skill if you plan on using him to buff up your other Horsies. --- Premise - Keeping Berkut effective outside of Horse Emblem requires a Dancer/Healer to break the MANY ties his Budget option forces. You will want to play him defensively, as you would Xander, while taking care to keep him out of the way of enemies who can attack at range. He'll do fine with a strong blue magic check, such as a Julia, Sonya, or Soren as a partner (Nino and Cecilia work as well), while also needing a strong red unit, like Ike, Hector, or for f2p, Xander - who could serve as a good buddy on Horse Emblem teams too.
  17. Yes - and that's what happened. That's what they called it. That -WAS- a thing. It's also something that really only makes Trump's seeming desire to work with the Kremlin bad only because the Democrats are not the ones owning the restoration of relations - or because their candidate was the victim of Russian tampering. At best - Russia is an everyday news cycle because the liberal media is crying over spilled milk. At worst - it's outright hypocrisy and seeming jealousy.
  18. Probably so. I can assure you. That's not all of us on the right - and several Trumpers ARE coming around. For one - People voted for Trump on healthcare because he wanted to "replace healthcare with something great." Americans want that something great - or they would rather keep the ACA. Those areas are where we don't need a massive Trump failure to come together.
  19. Mael, is the first time you've ever heard of Russia related to Trump? Let me correct some timeline issues first - Russia was at war with Georgia in 2008 - which would lend any US involvement/input/whatever to Dubya, rather than Obama. However, the Ukraine situation happened after then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the Obama Administration made agreements with the Russians regarding nuclear arsenals and lifted sanctions off of our Eastern "friends." This was largely nullified by a plane being shot out of the sky and the United States viewing the Pro-Russia Ukraine crisis as an affront by Russia - causing more sanctions to be instated and the Obama administration's view of the Russians to quickly revert to arms-length allies-at-odds at best, with Republicans being a tad more hawkish. Then, Russia had stopped providing adequate assistance to the US with regards to Syria. This stuff was talked about when the mainstream media actually gave us the news. It's real history. That's where this comes from. --- He still has support for a lot of reasons - and while most of these are unfortunate a couple of them hold merit. The media isn't seen as any more trustworthy then he is - and is in much WORSE standing with Trump voters. Good luck having Jake Tapper tell 'em facts. The country is so polarized, that compromise and agreement on both sides is seen as toxic. You're either with Trump or you're against him. The climate is black and white. Several Trump supporters are still in sore-winner mode, and people on the left still being as upset and unapproachable in defeat makes a large bridge to cross. Trump is a master of deferring guilt to people that are not himself or his family members - If they can't swim - they sink and Trump still floats. Trump doesn't care about the Republican Party - and therefore has created a faction that's just about himself. Several people are waiting for liberals to apologize for their personal affronts against conservatives with THEIR vote - and are using their support for Trump in revenge. Some people don't care about the other side of the country. Some people voted for Trump to keep the Supreme Court tilting to the right - a promise he delivered on. Some people voted for Trump to remove regulations on businesses - and he's delivered. Some people voted for Trump to strengthen immigration law enforcement to some degree - and to some degree he's delivered. Why do people support him? Because merely making fun of the guy on SNL isn't going to convince them they need to move on. It looks like a bunch of spilled milk. As long as people on the left continue to assume "our way -was- the correct way", throw out any opposing viewpoints as utterly worthless or continue to compare them unfavorably to their own, and treat the other side of the country with the same disdain they hold for the man they voted for - then how can you assume they are willing to move the fence on Trump?
  20. I -am- defending the people who voted for Trump, mainly because they were not the intended target of this thread. By you repeatedly doing the opposite - you not only go about your differences with your colleagues with an attitude that suggests you could care less about solving the problem and one that cares more about savoring watching people lament their consequences, you put yourself at risk of harming someone simply because they voted for something they believed in. That's partially what contributes to the hostile political climate we have today - and from having many conversations with you about politics in the past - you are much better than simply repeating the same "it's the voters' fault" line without any input. There are people who voted for President Trump in this community. There's rules in place where disrespecting other community members is considered an offense and therefore I have no wish to belittle and lump them in the pile with their Presidential vote. Whatever their reasoning was/is, whatever the consequences are - this thread was never made with the intent of being malicious to other people here - and I would like you to respect that wish. Now, if you have something about Trump himself to talk about - by all means. I left the floodgates open for THAT kind of criticism.
  21. This is however, where people make the argument that the alternative isn't better in regards to those concerns, and where Trump voters that expected Trump to Trump can point to areas where Hilllary being Hillary would be just as damaging. With regards to Russia, it wasn't too long ago that the same Hillary Clinton was less concerned about Russia to the point where she tried to orchestrate the "Russian Reset" alongside the Obama administration. This same administration would allow Russia to mess with neighboring Georgia and the Ukraine and eventually would ally itself with President Bashar Assad - where the Russians would be subject to heavy scrutiny in regards to human ethics. Russia seems to be bad - when a Republican wants to be the one being friendly instead of a Democrat. The solution to spiking healthcare premiums continuing to rise isn't to force people to pay an individual mandate or suffer with those premium hikes - yet Trump's opponent wanted to fix and expand the very legislation that was hurting people on that front - where Trump promised to remove that burden. Then you can point to pay-for-play instances with the Clinton Foundation, and what you have is a woman who's character is just as questionable, if not as loud, as her opponent's. --- If both choices to a person are bad - people who are being insightful are going to vote based on the policies they feel need to be addressed, not on who the better person is.
  22. If a voter gets what they want out of the person they voted for - I would indeed count that as a win. Especially if Trump made that a campaign promise. Yes. I do agree that they are responsible for making their own decision - but it only goes so far as that. They were lulled into believing the President would do X and missed the mark on Y. That doesn't make them bad voters. Hillary is to blame for Hillary for the most part. It would be one thing if her candidacy was reinforced with a sterling character that didn't have issues of it's own.
  23. For clarification, I'm not speaking in terms of my own views. Ask a Trump voter about the Paris Accord, they're somewhat more likely to admit backing out of the deal was good for America than anyone else. If a Trump voter can see positives wrought from their vote (even if they aren't actually positives!) then they will be less likely to be the kind of Republican Mael hopes fixes their mistake.
  24. As a Republican - it's not so much that I think Trump is good for the office or that I'm opposed to having him impeached. Mueller needs to be able to get space in his investigation - which would benefit both Trump -and- his opponents in the long run, depending on how involved Trump -really- is with Russia. The reasons people voted for Trump are legitimate - even if Trump isn't going to be the deliverer his voters hoped. I'm above "I told you so" here. The arguments Trumpers provide are valid. It's still only six months, the media has been providing him bad press since he began his campaign, and he has some wins on the board (Justice Gorsuch, backing out of the Paris Accord, positive economic growth, actively working with companies to create American jobs, ISIS, less unemployment) I'm -not- going to target his voters on principle. The voters didn't necessarily ASK Trump to take a shot at transgender servicemen and women (You're more right in asserting his twitter is more a representation of he himself!) The voters didn't ask for Trump to be indecisive with his staff. The voters didn't ask Trump to give key WH positions to his family. They didn't ask him to stay up into the late hours of the night to erupt on Twitter. --- All that aside, I just want the plane to stay flying, becoming increasing more exasperated with our "pilot's" glaring incompetence. I shouldn't be able to look at myself and say "You know Hunter, you could be President and get more results than this guy." when I haven't got my whole life figured out and I'm not in a financial safety net like President Trump and I'm prone to make mistakes. While I was absolutely not going to vote for Hillary - I ended up not voting for Trump and abandoning principles. There are several senators on both sides of the aisle that share that sentiment - and Trump's inability to coerce the Senate could prove fatal as more information about Russia gets brought to light. I think Senate Republicans are feeling more and more at ease with sending their own party's presidential nominee OUT of the White House. They just need more hard evidence than what they have.
  25. First off - let's not pretend that President Trump's ascendency is a farce caused by the combined forces of a waffling FBI Director and solely by the influence of Russian agents interfering with our election here. There are a few people in this community - let alone the country - that had faith in President Trump enough to earn him their vote - and their concerns for the country hold as much value as the rest of ours regardless of how we feel about the current situation. We cool here? Fantastic. --- In my neck of the woods, the support for President Trump remains high. "It's just six months into a four year presidency - give him a chance to get going." "I don't respect Trump's personhood but you should want him to succeed in respect for the office of the presidency - and for the prosperity of America." "People need to stop crying and line up behind the president - every four years there's a winner and a loser." ... and there are certainly victories for Trump's defenders to point to. Trump has so far benefit from a market that seemingly holds his lesser tendency to regulate business in comparison to the previous president in high regard, rewarding the president with economic growth early on. President Trump's military has functioned effectively on the front with the Islamic State, driving them out of Iraq. President Obama and President Trump are both jointly sharing a decrease in unemployment. However, that doesn't seemingly hold as much weight as it should - largely part to the mainstream media openly showing support for the so-called "Resistance" during regular programming, but also due to the President's own faux pas - and as much as anyone who wants "the prosperity of America" to prevail - it's the latter that causes one to realize President Trump's influence in Washington is downright ineffectual in certain areas where it needs to have some effect at best, and outright chaotic at worst. --- The White House for example, has become a PARAGON of unemployment since Trump took the reigns. We saw Sean Spicer leaving Press Secy. after Trump hires Anthony Scaramucci for Communications Director, a job that the Mooch would only hold for ELEVEN. DAYS. - but not before he would SUCCESSFULLY call Chief of Staff Reince Priebus' ouster during the week and a half. Then there was FBI Director James Comey, whose firing officially set off the alarms that "Russiagate" may have some merit. It all started with Fmr. Obama appointee Sally Yates being fired for allegedly failing to instate parts of President Trump's travel ban - days after she reportedly threw Michael Flynn to the sharks for dealing with Russia's ambassador during the campaign. Trump seemingly has established a dog-eat-world environment at 1600 Pennsylvania that new Chief of Staff (Gen. John Kelly) must correct quickly - that has unsettling ties to Russia, further fueling allegations that the President is beholden to the Kremlin. It looks like something out of Game of Thrones or an episode of the President's former reality television show - the Apprentice. This probably explains why Trump feels there isn't something wrong with this staff's organization. --- On Capital Hill, you have differing opinions of the President depending on which legislative body you are talking about. The House of Representatives has a slim majority where they need to wrangle -most- of the Republican conference to pass legislation forward. This rightward-leaning government body has found a pretty shaky ally in the President, often bringing the White House in on legislative structure here due to the ability to lose a few Republicans in a vote if the President threatens someone well enough. It's here where the President doesn't have to yield much in return for his input - and often doesn't. It's also here where Trump's antagonistic persuasions have wreaked havoc on the American people (i.e. the twitter posts indicating transgender servicemen and women being removed from service - a response to hawkish conservatives who wanted the President to support yanking funding from the significantly less major issue of the military offering sex assignment surgery - made in issue simply because Republicans couldn't come to a consensus either way.) The Senate? They have no "real" majority at all - forcing Trump to badger Majority Leader Mitch McConnell about subverting regular order and passing any legislature the Senate has down a party line vote. He didn't bring in bi-partisan parties to forge an alliance on healthcare, nor did he effectively threaten and cajole Republicans into supporting a repeal plan - leading to last weeks catastrophic failure. The Obama administration was led by a former senator who drafted his own healthcare bill as President and did a lot of heavy lifting to garner support among his conference. Trump? Noticeably only present cheerleading from Twitter and then complaining about other people failing to deliver the goods. Where the House at least gets some support - the Senate has been hung to dry by it's allied president. Depending on which side of the Capital you work in - you either -are- terrified of Trump's less-than-friendly approach to making things work - or you are shrugging as the complainer-in-chief has no visible effect. --- Finally, the court of public opinion has reviled not only the president, but his legislative attempts. The only thing that was more hated than the President, according to national approval ratings, -was- the once-imminent Obamacare repeal plan that was a vote shy of escaping the Senate floor and was very much in sight of Trump's desk. This president's inability to correct his course elsewhere has caused not only his popularity to fall faster than any new president - but it has placed any legislative effort Americans who voted for him are supposed to support to suffer as well. It's not just partisan disapprove or a mere "victory for the resistance" here. It's a slow burnout of Republicans who see proverbial flames whipping the white stone on 1600 Pennsylvania and hate Russia more than any other country even if they don't know the good reasons why. I didn't vote for President Trump - but I do hold value in supporting him in his quest for success because a President that is able to hold down the fort is an a-ok president that needs to improve by the end of his first term. He's made it very, very, VERY hard. His Twitter activity is downright frustrating, and people walking out of the White House weekly isn't reassuring.
