Tharja got her first successful lead save during the last Robin x3 an hour ago by about 200 million votes. Robin now needs his stalker to blow past him for one last shot at tipping the scales. If you are on Team Robin, stop contributing to the effort if you playing to win. The more players halt, the better the chance at the last hour bonus gets. Then go to town. Of course, if you are playing to increase rank. Play on. --- This is my project so far. Felicia has awful Attack and no Defense. So why use her? Good speed, and one of the best Resistance stats in the game. This build focuses on an aggressive approach (that's how I play Fire Emblem) to tanking and deleting mages. QR ensures a double on them, and her base Res+ stat makes her able to utilize it more against her targeted opponents. Iceberg procs more than Glacies and my Felicia was +Speed,-HP, but you could save some currency and use Glacies if you want even more ompf. Sacrifice gives the Maid her token healing ability and saves her C slot to give her three demensions of assistance to you. Tanking mages, healing, and debuffing. Maxed out, Felicia should draw every mage in the game and only be in a disadvantage against Celica and Cecilia - while Cecilia needs to be aware of Iceberg cooldown. Felicia holds most following turn advantages. Pro-Tip. Felicia compliments TA-Swordbreaker Nowi and Dragon Emblem well because she takes out Julia for your dragons.

THIS. SO MUCH THIS.

Well. Team Robin swung ahead by just under a billion votes - so the x3 at least makes the championship round fun to watch. I'll save my flags for when/if Tharja falls into the 3x bonus. Projections are showing that Tharja has more people aboard her ship than Robin his. --- Kagero at base kit is a huge anti-infantry colorless unit and her stat spread makes her have several options. All of them want Kagero to keep her Poison Daggers. Ardent Sacrifice or Reciprocal Aid is better in many of Kageros sets, but you have a flexible command slot if you are running LnD in A. Moonbow. She should always be chucking two blades to make this skill proc often. A has a lot of interesting options and the best one for Kagero in my opinion is Life and Death. LnD makes her faster and stronger at the expense of her bulk. She's a ninja so there isn't need for bunk anyway. If you are not up for that you could also run Darting Blow and focus on her initiation speed, or Fury and actually BOOST every stat. With your low HP unit, I would suggest LnD or Darting Blow over Fury. For B, you also have options. Wings of Mercy on Kagero is kinda neat, as it lets her teleport to allies and gives her threatening presence more coverage. She's got so little HP and good enough speed to run Desperation very well. She also could be a ranged enemy phase threat with Vantage. Since you have minus HP, you may want to throw some people with Despy in your case. Kagero is one of the few units that don't want to run Threaten skills at C despite being strong. This leaves the curtain pretty bare here - so bring a Hone skill your team needs. poison dg+ Sac/Aid/Repo Moonbow A-Life and Death/Darting Blow B-Desperation/Wings of Mercy C-Hone Attack Seal-Attack+1

I mean. I know you (I think) came on this thread and proclaimed Tharja wasn't gonna take Robin - but did you put money on this? --- I'm working on a project. One of my favorite discount units.
-
Let's build Genny yeah? Assault/Absorb Imbue/Rehabilitate Kindled Fire/Swift Winds Balm A-Attack+3 B-Wrathful Staff C-Hone Speed/Attack. With Assualt the player saves SP and Genny has the potential to reach a fearsome 48 Attack - which is pretty damn good considering she's a cleric. Absorb still gets her to a respectable 42 and in conjunction with Wrathful Staff could effectively work somewhat like Nosferatu. The set takes into account that she isn't a world beater. A should focus on getting Genny some extra power. B eliminates the staff penalty. And C is contingent on which Balm you are using. If going with Attack Balm for example, go Hone Speed. Rehabilitate is just my favorite healer skill. Genny has high Res and Attack. This makes her a fantastic pseudo-mage who can bait in enemy tomes. She is however, slow. Keep her one step ahead of physical units.

Leo picked up a final hour x3 bonus too. HOORAY GRIMA AINT BESTING US BY A BILLION TONIGHT BOIS. Gg, Scale Tippers. Best of luck with Tharja. --- Boey eh? He's kinda a better Robin statwise. Slower, but with more tank. This makes him a pretty good anti-colorless mage. Give him Cecilia's Raven tomes, keep Earth Boost... Boey will want to be able to utilize his bulk more. He can compensate for not EXACTLY being a knight by acquiring Triangle Adept for A. This also gives him power against Blues along with his advantage over Takumi, Kagero, common theives and bows, and Genny. C? Pretty flexible. You can go with a Threaten Res to improve his matchup rate, Savage Blow to have Boey AoE nearby foes, or give him Breath of Life to fix up nearby allies ready to finish what Boey starts. As an infantry, Boey likes rallies, and everyone likes reposition. Bon. Fiyah. Is a great skill for Boey as he is bulky and will be mainly an EP unit. So Raven Rally (Flex)/Repo Bonfire A-Triangle Adept B-Earth Boost C-(Flexible) Seal-Attack^/HP^ Edit-Poison Dagger may still hurt. I think Boey may still be okay though.

Celica is a MUCH PRETTIER more adaptable red nuke than Tharja - and may be your better option if you don't have Eirika or Ephraim. Ragnarok only causes Celica five damage if she's casting a full powered hit at full HP. She's easier to protect than I imagined because of this. I want. This unit. Will low key trade Tharja.
-
Celica has the best damaged art- it's a shame healing her up is the name of the game. What a tease.

The only reason I brought up fixing the Gauntlet is because I want people to stick with their favorites in order myself. Everything else about this game comes down to a science. This doesn't have to! Leo legitimately was my favorite in two VGs. No he didn't win either, but he's special to me and taking L's was worth it in the pursuit of a good time. That's what I think the devs wanted players to tap into over freeloading the prettiest units army or ranking up a loser's ladder. We're in the same boat - I just think way too much about the surrounding aspects of the game to dismiss them.
-
It may just be illusory for now, but it's a solid attempt to rectify the problem of matches being over the first hour they even start. I'd rather see Robin fight and ACTUALLY try to tip the scales on Tharja even if she was supported by more people. (And I have to objectively say I would rather Tharja win that matchup. She's my first relevant Heroes pull and was a huge unit in my Awakening run.) I think Voting Gauntlet participation has two aspects. One is for characters to recruit as many players as possible (popularity) and one is to have those players fight for you as often as possible (effort) Take Leo vs. Robin right now. After Leo's last surge, he got back up to only being down 93 million points and a "Same" strength rating at a wee hour in the morning. Robin is expected to get distance, but it's no sure thing. The modifier doesn't favor underdogs. It opens the door for the harder working army to prevail, be it the underdogs making the power play or the leaders in staving off the modifier to gain traction. The game is made interesting, and it really matters how the leading army responds. Effort -should- matter. Finally. Our sample size is INCREDIBLY small at the moment. Tharja was EXPECTED to clean house and that holding up doesn't mean the modifier failed and the opposite hypothesis is true. I was thoroughly entertained in the first two rounds because Leo really was pushed by both his opponents. He had leads. It was encouraging enough to want to keep participating. It's better than watching Ephraim get hosed by Lucina by 5 billion points. Its a hybrid popularity-effort contest thing. @Sheep While this is also ideal - this damages the "thematic" value of the gauntlet and because the primary goal for intsys is to get players to invest in orbs it is an unrealistic expectation for a Gacha game. Mages?! - OOOH LINDE AND JULIA. Money. Take it. The only two "competitive" themes you have going that also have monetary gain are a Hero Fest Gauntlet with super meta units - and Waifu Bait. And the last one isn't even going to happen.
-
I can get behind the premise being picking your favorite. The problem is invariably that the game has already introduced a reward for winning a round. 500 feathers is two 4 star units and getting Alfonse, Sharena, and Anna to three along with two of your other daily heroes. It's a compelling reason to sell out if you are like me where the fun of the game is to build up Heroes and not to be glued to your iPhone playing anime chess. @Sheep The first thing I gotta say is - why is the 3x multiplier dumb? The biggest complaint VGs had prior to this one is that matches involving certain characters were too lopsided. Coming from someone who likes the Luciuses and Olwens of this game - how is it you are opposed to a system that gives them a fighting chance against Awakeners and Fates waifu bait characters? Secondly, your solution is in retrospect great in terms of Favoritism prevailing, but removes the ability to freeload entirely and focuses heavily on involvement in a iPhone application. Retroactively stripping incentives isn't a good solution at this point in my opinion, because humans dig free stuff. They also dig easier climbs on losing army ladders. Players should - at this point - get to participate how they want, with the goal being for Devs to encourage more viability in choosing a random favorite. @Commander I can see what you are getting at here, but it's not even a real solution because picking your favorite Hero takes backseat to trying to maximize loot even more. It is much better received by the player base, but you still get gamesmanship and players neglecting their favorites for orbs. This is essentially the opposite of Sheeps suggestion. How can we find a happy medium?

Sooooo Robin seems to be in the drivers seat and should only be worried about "weaker" bonuses from Leo coming at the wrong time. He only has HALF the score Tharja has accrued. Maybe. This isn't too much important - but it will depend on how many Team Julia members are Anti-Tharja vs how many join Tharja under a presumed free 500 feathers. --- Thats honestly the next thing that needs changing in terms of VGs. They should remove army victory feathers for the first two rounds and make a bigger "Champion" feather amount in its stead for the winning army. This ensures - ideally - that people are picking their favorites or actively sabotaging favoreds in the second round as opposed to bandwagoning a Tharja or similar unit for free win feathers and making a real popularity contest obsolete. Paired with the step forward that was the 3x losing bonus, and you should have a fair contest.

I could be wrong - but I think you have a Nino that is -Atk,+Def. That certainly is not good. Nino wants either Attk or Speed as a boon, and Def is one of her best banes as she has obsolete tankiness. In other words, she doesn't care about defense. Everyone has a level Zephiel. So I'm leaning toward promoting him and inheriting Gronnblade to someone else (Soren, S!Camilla). PLEASE wait for someone to confirm that IV for me though. If you have a better Nino than I think, you may want to keep her.
-
I have to say the formula does its job of keeping matches exciting while truly representing the player bases. Robin surged to the presumed point of no return and is leading Leo by 200 million points or less. Still considered a race - but far enough for the Scale Tippers to breathe a bit. It happened to Henry. Its a cruel spot though. If players keep playing to pull for the upset then you may not fall to the 3x assist range and it's ultimately a losing effort. False hope. However, it keeps the premise of popularity being important. And that needs to be there to accurately gauge who SHOULD be winning.
-
Leo is still ahead of Robin. It's still only a difference of million points - but I'm slowly believing.
-
Congrats Leo, you made it to round 2! Time to get stomped by filthy Smash fanboys. --- My priority target is usually units that check my team individually. Then it's whoever the biggest threat is. Dancers end up dancing someone too close to my team collectively on most maps and healers are only a big deal on maps the ai plays them smart (GHB). Wrathful Staff shouldn't change how you play your healer. It should make them more serviceable at dealing damage to clear a mob if necessary and effectively replace a slot on your team in offense enough to be considered. I would say a unit that is as strong as Leo or Spring!Camilla and one that can non sacrificial heal hypothetically does this. --- That false hope when you actually see it flip Leo's way. There'a hope.
-
There should be more healers in Echoes. (I personally will be using Faye as a Cleric, because Faye picks up "Again" - which is presumably Dance/Sing)
-
Yeah yeah. I started with Fates. Elise helped me beat Chapter 10 of CQ after promoting her earlier - and she can burn flesh in her own right. I'm glad she still does in Heroes even with a gravity staff - and she's a great candidate for Wrathful Staff. --- I have a feeling Celica will have multiple good sets. She should be able to challenge Tharja for best red infantry mage with a offense heavy set - and she might have her own angle going on with the Preistess stuff. Mae should be good - as there is not a lot more of viable blue infantry mages and she comes with Despy stock. She wouldn't need a lot of investment. Boey will come down to stats. I have faith he can outdo Merric, but he may be very similar to him. Genny has good inheritance things. Heavenly Light is a great proc for healers and Physic isn't bad. I wonder if her Attack will be high to compliment WS. Gaiden healers tend to be dated and run silly stuff like Nosferatu too. It's with the ballpark of reason. --- I was hoping for this to be Celica's banner. - Celica - Boey/Mae - Saber - Valbar I think Heroes could use more Knights and I feel like Silque would have been a good pick over Clair for Alm's banner - and the apparently mandatory premise that all healers need to be represented. Saber is one of the more distinct units in Celica's route - being the most popular of a TON of Mercenaries she has access to. Valbar. Was on the cover of the original Gaiden. And Heroes needs more Knights and defensive thingamajigs. im not mad if it means I can have Elise burninate all the villages. But still. Saber man. --- Cmon 1st Round results.
-
That's fair too. At the end of the day, just like a combat unit's stats, stats will ultimately determine if Wrathful Staff is popular. Its certainly exciting. Elise is one of the non focus units I want.
-
I mean. The way I see it - the only thing that is really holding some healers back is the might of staves being so low. That might change with demand. I don't find value in L2S in Heroes because I don't try to get my healers injured. That being said, they do make great bait if needed - but if a healer is hanging back they won't need to heal themselves. This is where a staff having two range matters. If a healer isn't getting hurt - then the choice is between Wings of Mercy and Wrathful Staff. And then the next decision is to go dancer or healer. Let's take Elise for example. At level 40, Elise can have up to 35 Attack and can keep Assault for a might 10 staff. She also can inherit WS from Genny or keep Live to Serve naturally - or get WoM from Frederick. Lets assume we want Elise to go beserk (true to her tendencies as a strategist in Fates.) - so we go ahead and take WS. This means 45 Attack Elise (with Assault) has her damage calculated the same as mages around that tier. +Attack Leo has 46 Attack with Brynhildr equipped (M:14, meaning that Elise is slightly better than her brother in natural strength!) +Attack Lilina and +Attack Bunny Camilla are only slightly better then Elise. Leo, Lilina, and S!Camilla can't heal without sacrifice and are weak to certain color units.(There is Wolfs, which cancel out as Elise and Leo have ponies, and in Big Sister's case - Bows.) Elise would only be afraid of Ravens and can heal without condition. That's pretty great if you ask me. --- Elise, as a mounted unit, automatically beats out refresher units on Horse Emblem teams. In all around use - Ninian and Azura for sure are more reliable - but Olivia is only useful functionally for Dance and her Hone Attack. And being weak to Greens applies for the first two. Dance/Sing is pretty busted - but I don't see how Wrathful Staff Elise can't replace a Leo or S!Camilla.

Rein's fantastic. (So was your Palla though.) May set my lead to Xander soon. Siegfried Repo Bonfire Attack+3 QR Threaten Def Still a bit of work to go, but he's coming along.
-
I'm on the devil's own team. (Ironically.)
-
I've had help from Pocky's Palla this whole time, but my lead was Ike. I've been stuck with three sword units and lost some matches. May switch to Hector or Azura.
