  1. First, no, technically a tyrant used to define someone who took over power (mainly by use of military): there were quite often tyrants in Ancient Greece, were the term was originated, and often they weren't cruel nor oppressive. Over time pejorative connotation was added, because it isn't uncommon that someone that seeks all power for himself doesn't like anyone to contest that, hence the cruelty. Secondly, never was it stated that his backstory was an excuse, rather an explanation. Demonizing someone who does something horrible creates a false sense of comfort, because you don't see that person as, well, a person, rather a monster unlike yourself. But that hides the reality that, for the same trade, you would be commiting those things. You even might be doing/supporting (some of) those right now, but not realizing it. Because the transition to 'evil' is often just too soft of a slope to notice. And few things are as horrendous as realizing the monster is in the mirror. However, I agree that something that can't be related to at all can be incredibly scary, too. Portal (I&II), Majora's Mask... ...But back to topic. progress looks nice. Glad the waifu battles have settled for a while, too, with the advent of the relation-system you're introducing. P.S. A related story I once read: http://www2.ups.edu/faculty/velez/LAS100/tellez.htm
  2. ^ I think a group punishment could have worked. Bear with me before you pummel me into oblivion (cause you will, I can't fight). In theory, punishing the group for something individuals did in that group can have a positive effect. It can sometimes help to set proper rules, raise awareness of certain topics and scrutonize the wrongdoers better. It is not to make everyone feel bad. I would say in such a case that you shouldn't take it too personally. But, firstly, that punishment has to make sense. Suspension is rarely a good punishment, imo, especially for the case described. Secondly, losing financial aid for being suspended even once, no matter the context, is wrong. How is that stuff legal there? (Suspension isn't supposed to be equal to being convicted, and even then you're still punishing a teenager harshly for doing something stupid. Not always a good plan...) With that given, I understand why Cool Girl felt so bad about it. I'm glad for her things turned out okay. But I'm kinda steering off topic here, not?
  3. I think you can find in the version 7-thread the places in-game where it is safe to start playing in version 7. Just go to those places in version 6, save, close, and start version 7. That should do it.
  4. Maybe Super Luck Meowth/Persian might be nice, and it would fit its cultural origin. Also Slash/Night Slash spam... Iron Fist Lucario (because, y'know, it's a Steel/Fighting type...)
  5. Maybe she's hiding half of her work...
  6. You know what would be funny? If all those areas we've been shown get destroyed not long after we re-enter the city. (like, after a gym battle, Lin comes in and rips the city a new one.)
  7. Muk is pretty decent. Paras on the other hand...
  8. It will be professor (Face)Palm. At leas, I hope so. Then, every time you use a key item when you can't... Besides, gen 5 brought up parental child abuse, and Nintendo has gotten away with worse in other games (OoT, for example). It's possible to handle heavy topics in a way that children and adults can enjoy, rather than steering away from anything controversial and shoot yourself in the foot by narrowing down your demographic.
  9. "Yes...yes...let the hate flow through you" - Captain Breakfast Would be pretty funny. You know, if they would pay attention to the cliches they put in their games, and add a spin to it, that would be pretty baller. Like for example starting the game with visiting your father's grave, an argument between your mom and the professor about your safety/maturity...
  10. Me and some guys were rather interested/excited for Go, but with what I hear here, a lot of our expectations will be shattered. ...I will not add anything to this. Too obvious.
  11. The worst game I played...hmm. When talking in terms of just plain bad, "Myth Makers: Orbs of Doom" comes to mind first. It...is...so...boring...and ugly, too. Only played a couple of levels and never looked at it again. It makes any CoD-game shine like a blue diamond. When talking in terms of dissapointing/saddening, I think about something else. I get dissapointed about new installments of games I loved (like Simcity (2013, I think)), but rarely I actually have such a game in my possession. (I tend to wait on reviews before purchase). So those I don't count. But "Jak (and daxter): the Lost Frontier" is a game that just made me really, really sad while playing it. I really liked that series, especially Jak 3. And then we get this... PSP-playable games of a PS2-franchise for PS2 have maddened me more than once, but I think this might be the worst of them.
  12. I've heard an argument about this in favour of HMs not so long ago. It talked about how battle-oriented the arguments against HMs are, and it misses the entire exploration-component. It was like: Pokemon can get you to places you couldn't get before, not only in strength, but in travel too (or maybe even personal growth). And HMs do fulfill one of those (or two in some cases). (I think) I'm a bit in the middle. I get the point, but I also do get annoyed about low-power must-have moves to progess sometimes. I'm glad they're overrideable in Reborn. (Perhaps making HMs so that giving them to a mon that can learn it allows you to use it could be an option, too.)
  13. If going with Huge Power, I'd say lower its Attack back to 92 (to make it not too broken). Then, for example, you can put 60 in SpA, 10 in Spe, and 20 in each of its defenses, making it 81/92/97/145/95/95. That would keep it open for Physical, Special and mixed sets. Its 95 base speed and poor defensive typing would compensate for the unpredictability an immense power.
  14. I would seriously doubt your SSD for the issues, since it runs "okay" on my own computer (normal hard drive). (plus it has intel Dual Core 1,88 GHz, so that woun't be it either iic) It isn't because of your operating system either, I assume?
  15. You could go to 'smogon.com' to find suggestions for EV-sets and moves. Keep in mind that those are for their competitive tiers, which often require TMs we can't get (yet), and differ from Reborn's challenges.
  16. Zangoose and Seviper should get one, especially the latter. (Or at least a mega) Everything else got mentioned already. I do think Arbok's evo should become Poison/Dark with Strong Jaw.
  17. Well, yeah. Gen 5 did have some problems. The 'bad guys' had something that rubbed me wrong. BW: "We're for liberating pokemon from pokéballs!...But we still use pokéballs!..."...completely undermines the dilemma, which could've made it a very interesting game. N was a great antihero (undermined by the former), and that finale was so grand, it was amazing. And our rivals were meh. (weren't much better in other gens...) B2W2: Great rival, decent villains and nice story about the split, but compared to BW...the end felt quite underwhelming (Yes, we were almost a popsicle, but why nerf the villain???) Not to mention designs...were a mixed bag. (put into perspective: Zekrom, but icecream...) Still pretty good games, though. Just could've been better. I hope they reiterate on the concept in BW, perhaps in the form of a rival or so. Just make it more difficult and give me a good reason to question my motives in-game for gen 7, that'd be nice.
  18. Ability: 2x420 : The opposing pokemon is too relaxed to attack.
  19. Well...that's not quite what I expected, but still interesting Bonding with humans wasn't implied, but for example by bringing the Space Trio together, it could achieve Ascension-form or whatever (nicer name for a mega). The idea of the Red chain is quite interesting, since it is described that 'capturing a (legendary) mon with a pokéball limits its power'. Definitely something to keep in mind for "mega"-forms of Palkia and Dialga (Cyrus' plan...) The idea was to not throw a dozen abilities together to make it broken, or just completely override certain aspects of mega-evolution, since you can make pretty much every mon broken with those. (Hitting 1000 BST with a mon does sound cool to me, though.) Rather, with the constraints we have, finding a more "elegant way" to make it something to be feared, although most of the mixtures submitted were quite the charm. Basically, try to make up as little as possible to make it as strong and versatile as possible. For example, I thought to (have a move overwrite Judgment to make it possible to "mega-evolve". Basically, a something-between-120-and-150 BP-version of the same move, or something stronger but with charge-up or recharge (raise it to 200 BP or so, V-create has 180 BP in comparison). Or*) just raise Judgment's power to BP 120-150, and make it its "Dragon Ascent". Even distribution (140 all) would still not be enough to hamper its capabilites with such a hitter, I think. (I have no calcs to back that up, though.) After all, it gets Plate- and STAB-boosts. Anyway, keep it coming (*too much to make up, I think)
  20. I didn't find a thread about this specifically, so here goes... Since M-Rayquaza was made into the terror it is, that got me thinking about the pretty much inevitable day gen 4 will get a reboot (years from now, but whatever). If Gamefreak intentionally made Ray this godlike, then how could they do such a thing with, you know, the actual Alpha? Arceus has perfectly balanced stats (120 each), which makes it pretty good in everything, but not that great either. Adding 100 BST creates a dilemma 'cause of that versatility. Anyway you distribute it, you're cutting away options or end up creating (compared to the other Uber Mega's) a decent, but not incredible, Mega God. (Example: pure 140 in all stats makes it really fast, but makes it lack a bit of punch compared to others.) Tinkering with its ability is also not really a possibility, since it is Multitype. (Plates...) Because of this, a mega should be without a stone (like Rayquaza), but that would (probably) need a link with one of its moves (which might restrict its versatility). The obvious call for this would be Judgment, but even though it is a guaranteed STAB 100/100 move, that might be a little bit...underwhelming. Not to mention it just learns it through level-up. In short, I wonder how this thing could make Ubers cry with these restrictions. Share your thoughts below.
  21. Oh, and there is all the dissipating heat, like friction (air) and an "incomplete" conversion of energy* (which translates to the heating up of the spring, which cools back down due to the air around it). If you're in high school, the latter won't be considered (it's more physics/physical chemistry). They both cause a transfer of energy from the system to the surroundings, so no conservation of energy in your system. (*basically: Epot -> Ekin + Q in this situation. Q stands for heat)
  22. I did. Four times in a row. I did have to manipulate save states and evasion/poison hax every time, though. He gives 20k, but you don't advance in the game. You're just forced to lose, but you can get a lot of money and exp out of it (well, before losing half of it...) And depending on your definition of worse, that's very probable, but that's the point of the game... --- Not using any fakemon does strongly affect your chances, sadly, but I hope you manage It's good you got past the Eye-Eyes without losing most of your team.
  23. While on topic: Myself, I untie and tie my shoes every time I wear them (bc I'm too lazy to untie them atm when I'm taking off my shoes).
  24. Well, about those IVs...I kinda have a neat trick for that...It's called 'a version of E14 with a very interesting bug'. Simply put, I can transfer 6 IV-stats and a nature instead of only five, and I can assert one of those IV-stats. The trick is gathering a couple mons of the same egg group to create one mon with 6 perfect IVs, and from there you breed to get such a mon in each group by using mons that belong to more than one (example: Nuzleaf is Field/Grass). A bit tedious in the beginning, but pays off in the long run (in speed and results). The buggy version is just there to speed things up a lot (by eliminating some RNG), and makes it so you don't need two mons with 5 good IVs (respectively for a physical and a special attacker) but only one with six. Yes, you can lose a couple hours to it, and depending on your playstile it can be too pricy (that's another thing, breeding isn't for free) and to much of an effort to be worth it. You can also watch One Punch Man, if you're bored. Doesn't dissapoint P.S. I can't get up early, but soft resetting a couple times (or just when it's really bad) only takes 5-10 minutes normally if you're unlucky (if you have a free slot in your team to check quickly). A bit tedious, but fairly ok imo.
  25. Only to be +/- completely swept by my Jolly Flygon's EQ...(Properly bred and raised, ofc.) Well, Prankster Rain Dance and Light screen can be quite the boon, or perhaps you should check out the 'field effects'-section on the site to develop your strategy further...
