    Ya know what I think might be the real issue with the anime? It's not that Ash has his team reset from a bunch of badass veterans to a couple of candy ass newbs at the beginning of each series/ each new generation, it's not that Pikachu somehow goes from kicking ass to being just... weakened at the start of each new series somehow...       Yeah, I do wish that when they went to Hoenn they focused more on May as the newbie with Ash being something of a mentor to her, they did it a little but not enough. Then maybe after Hoenn they'd get a new main character?
