  1. I mean... was he part of the "mafia" or whatever in that game? I'm not sure cross-game accusations hold up very well.
  2. Lovely. Once of our best roles gone right at the beginning. I have a feeling my first game of mafia in this group will not be kind to me. Edit: @Venus What makes you suspect Dive?
  3. Update: I am still looking for more beta readers! If you're interested, please shoot me a PM!
  4. Looks like I'm unable to gift Steam games to my friend because it costs more in his region than mine. I'd be fine with paying his region's price, but it won't let me.

...He, on the other hand, can buy me gifts like crazy, 'cause they cost him more than they would cost me.

    I hate scumbag companies.

You wanted to give him something. That's what matters. Don't worry, friendship and generosity will find a way~

How can your friend buy games for you "like crazy" if they cost him more than they cost you?

      Unfortunately, scumbag companies are everywhere.

  6. I think I just genuinely made a telemarketer angry by trolling him about needing a poltergeist removed from my chimney. He said I was taking food out of the mouths of his children and called me a nasty woman.

  9. Due date? I'm way past my days of assigning people homework! This is your party, after all, and it's not like this honey badger is likely to do any work when she can already think of literally hundreds of ways to respond to the premise of this thread! So, um, anyway, reply whenever you want, or never, if I'm too scary. Life can be so annoying at times - don't stress yourself out over my whimsical little responses. I'm totes a big fan of Death Note, and I do think Light is an interesting character who is entertaining to watch, though I don't know if I like him as a person. Definitely more of a fan of L. =p
  10. @Chase What? If we're to have any meaningful discussion here we'll need to have some way of distinguishing between true claims and false claims, right? An obvious way to show that one statement is false is to find a logical contradiction within it. What I'm asking is whether you can show me any example where we can conclude that something "supernatural" does, in fact, exist or occur. I want to see one agreeable methodology for establishing such a claim. Also, Yagami-san is quite an interesting choice of avatar given our past discussions~
  11. Hahaha, this is perfect! I even made a honey badger deck celebrating the meme back when I used to play Magic! However, I think a lot of people won't get it if they haven't seen the video... Can you show me an example of how to search for supernatural truths that is proven to be effective?

They aren't worth it, Evi. People who really count won't say mean things, and if they do by mistake, they'll apologize and make it up to you. Those are the people who are worth caring about =3

    2. BRS swag

      BRS swag

Happens. That's human nature. I know the feels too. You should know what to keep and try your level best to kick out the rest. Think of it this way, what the "jerk" told ya is all in the past now. It's just a huge load of baggage for anyone, specially the one who writes great novels, really :) . If it was his mistake, he would apologize or not, makes no difference to what you are, right? You are what you make yourself into. All humans are like clay. We just need the right shape for the right use. Live life to your fullest so that you have no time for bullshit such as the rude person.

For times like these, you just gotta distract yourself with something else in order to get over it. Plus, that "jerk" isn't worth your time, cause...he/she is a jerk.

  13. Thank you all for your interest so far! I still need a lot more beta readers, so if you're interested, please don't hesitate to let me know!
  14. Hi! I’m looking for people to beta read my novel, The Sapphire of Sacrifice. The novel has already been through several drafts and is the first in a trilogy. Aside from the many edits and adjustments I will doubtlessly have to make, the book is complete, so if you become a part of the process, you will eventually end up reading a full-length novel, beginning to end. Premise The story focuses on three characters living in Routley, a city that has been taken over by a demon called Pestilence, cut off from the rest of the world, and that is slowly filling from the ground up with gas that kill everyone who breathes it. The primary protagonist, Rivia, is an immortal woman who came to Routley in search of an ancient gem, the titular sapphire, seeking to use it to purge the world of all the demons she has inadvertently summoned throughout her life and, by doing so, prove her worth to herself. She bears a great burden in the form of a mysterious, intangible entity of dubious intentions whose mind has been linked to her own for the majority of her life. Her arrival in Routley was strongly related to the onset of the disaster that now has befallen it. Alex is a man in his mid-twenties who does his utmost to help the people of Routley despite his lack of supernatural abilities as self-imposed atonement for his failure to save someone very important to him on the day of Pestilence’s arrival. He struggles to cling to hope in a city that has long since been robbed of it. He is fiercely protective of his niece, Julia. Julia is a sixteen-year-old prodigy who is obsessed with relic-technology, which focuses on the process of harnessing magic. She is wild, reckless, and unreasonably optimistic despite the world crashing down around her. She constantly wears an old, cheap necklace which she believes holds the soul of her dead twin sister, Elise, and speaks to it as if it were alive. Together, these characters seek to defeat Pestilence, the behemoth who took over their city – and to understand the forces that brought about their city’s plight. Warning This novel contains a fair bit of violence without dwelling on it. You should also expect dark themes and at least one demon whose appearance could be considered grotesque. About beta readers Beta readers are readers with an interest in my book who are willing to provide honest feedback. No special credentials are required. Should you volunteer to be one, I will send you a few chapters at a time, which ought to generally be read within a week or so. (Generally, the chunks will be given in a size that would take me about 1 – 1.5 hours to read.) After you read, you should contact me to discuss your opinions regarding the chapters you read and anything else that’s relevant. That process will repeat until you finish the book; at the end, we’ll have a discussion about your opinions on the book in general. By the way, it would be ideal for me to have a diverse pool of beta readers – and I need a lot! You don’t have to agree with me on everything to be a beta reader. =p I will not explicitly ask you for demographics, but I would appreciate any you’re willing to volunteer; I would like to cater to as wide a target audience is possible, and having feedback from many different perspectives is helpful. Oh, and, um, just to be clear, I’m not paying you or anything, so only sign up for this if you’re really interested! Requirements: · I will require a name and a means to contact you. The name doesn’t have to be your real one; just something I can use to refer to you. When the book gets published, that name is likely to end up in the “Special Thanks” section. You can always start by giving me a username and change it later if you want. · You must be able to give me honest and thorough feedback. In large part, I’ll want to know how you feel about things and why. I’m also interested in knowing whether you can predict the plot twists and which parts of the book are difficult to understand. · Let me know why you want to be a beta reader if you do! Also, what are your favorite genres? · You should be able to read the chapters I give you within about a week. If you occasionally take a bit longer, that’s fine; life happens. I get that. · Respect is extremely important. While I do need your brutally honest opinions regarding my work, that’s not an invitation to use me as a punching bag. =p · My book is copyrighted. Please don’t try to plagiarize my work in any way; if you do, it will be an enormous pain for all parties involved. I also ask that you discuss the contents of my novel with no one but me until it is released. · Beta reading is a casual process. You can decide to stop at any time. If you do, I would appreciate if you clearly let me know that you’re stopping – and, better yet, why you’re stopping. · The prologue and chapters 1-3 will be sent out as preliminary reading. After you read those and we discuss them, we can both decide how good a fit this process is for you. If you read through all that, thank you for your patience! Please let me know if you have any questions; I would be shocked if I didn’t forget to include something important. If you’re interested in perhaps being a beta reader, please let me know, either via the comments or PM!
  15. The book I have been working on for the better part of three years is nearly at the point where I can do nothing more without involved feedback. For some reason, that makes me more nervous than ever!

    1. Alistair

      Alistair

If it's good (and I'm pretty sure it is ;) ) you don't have much to fear from feedback, except maybe over-involved people trying to shoehorn their own ideas of what 'should' be in your book =p

Good luck finding beta readers in any case!

  16. I've played, watched, and read a lot of things. but honestly, one of the things I miss most about being really young was watching my dad play video games and thinking to myself that he was so good. In reality, he wasn't especially talented; I was just bad. xD But it felt super cool to imagine I had a pro on my side, even if it wasn't true.
  17. I love when scammers call my house to try and trick me. They're so fun to play with.

  18. Congratulations on your courage. Like many of the others who have posted here, I have no idea how to make a fan game... but I do know a few things about transitioning, so if you have any questions or anything, feel free to PM me.
  19. Oh, goodness.... My backlog is ultra long, but here are some of the games I'm currently chipping away at. 1. Hearthstone! I didn't buy all those packs for nothing. Now my foes will face the wrath of a spoiled brat with too much free time on her hands! 2. Diablo 3. Gotta finish my season 11 journey through Chapter 4 as a necromancer! 3. Heroes of the Storm. Not surprising given this list - I'm a total Blizzard fangirl. 4. World of Warcraft. Because I am hopelessly addicted. 5. Overwatch. The only shooter I've enjoyed in quite a while. 6. Starcraft Remastered. It's so jarring to be stripped of all the conveniences of Starcraft 2, but the story is great! 7. Dragon Quest 7 (3DS version). I've been working on this one for a while now. It's an enormous RPG, but I'm a fan. And I have so many other games waiting for me, including a few on temporary hiatus. I feel so guilty! xD Also, @Ice Cream Sand Witch I have GW2 as well. I haven't seriously played it in a while, though. I hear there's a new expansion coming, but I still haven't completed the storylines from the last one!

  21. Happy birthday! I would give you some chocolate covered pretzels, but I don't have any. D=
  22. I have a few, but the most memorable of them is GLaDOS. =p
  23. Really, most of the reasons in favor of still supporting Trump boil down to "Srcew Hillary, screw liberals, and screw the undesirables (immigrants, Muslims, LGBT people, etc)." The person I imagine might convince people not to support Trump anymore is - who else? - Trump. When people realize that Obamacare is the ACA and that Trump wants to strip them of the healthcare they're relying on, or when he causes some other great calamity of a magnitude befitting a man like himself, I'm hoping people will realize that maybe voting for him wasn't the best decision. Hoping. I have quite a track record of overestimating people. Of course, when that time comes I imagine they'll just blame Obama and repeat their mistakes. This last year has only made me more negative, and I was pretty bad to begin with.
  24. Clearly you aren't a Trump supporter. However, you did say you were "very, very glad with the Trump regime so far." I was directing my point at more of an abstract "you" to speak of the potential motivations of a Trump supporter who cared about the things you were talking about. I'm not entirely certain what your second paragraph meant. From my perspective, it looks as though you're letting a hypothetical scenario play out in your head and telling us about the results. I don't particularly have any response to that.
