Third time is the charm! I hope Dark card, ace trainer (M), no shinies aka the usual stuff
-
Aight not as many water types as I originally thought...
-
I don't have enough decent spellcasters. Currently I'm trying out a Dino deck by using Rex. If this doesn't work out I'll probably go machines with Keith.

I don't mind. Those are the only hours I can actually challenge but going by the activity past week, I'd say it's more than enough time to finish battles.
-
I'm also restarting. Dark card and Ace Trainer (M) The new squad
-
I will probably get destroyed but here we go: Dark template with the Ace Trainer (M). Team EDIT: Nvm. I'm restarting and will post my new team soon in the restart thread. So if you haven't made the card yet, save yourself some time and just skip this ^^

Brendan – Dreamyard “That was fun,” Brendan declared after using Jack’s help to get up. The sarcasm in his voice was obvious to spot. “I agree. But since we were planning to split up, we should continue with Fennel’s request. In the meantime we can try to contact Jason since I believe he carries the flash drive.” The young trainer carefully looked around to try and find a clue as to where they were supposed to go. “Well, I don’t see any clear signs as to our exact location. And the floating objects aren’t helping either…” he said to Jack. “Maybe your Pokémon can help? Doesn’t the Luxray line have really good eyesight?”

Brendan – Dreamyard Brendan secretly agreed with Jason when it came to Meena. He hadn’t forgotten her earlier actions when they faced the Patrat Gang. She was a complete savage and Brendan wouldn’t be surprised if she ate small birds for breakfast instead of fearing them. Keeping those thought for himself to not hurt Mio’s feelings, he carefully watched the new events unfold and started laughing as soon as Jason tripped over. “You know, you could also try to catch it in a Pokéball instead of trying with your bare hands,” he chuckled as soon as he caught up to both Mio and Jason. “Any idea what it was?”

Brendan – Dreamyard “Eighty pounds? Are you kidding me?” Brendan asked as his arms started to tremble and his back could give out any moment. He quickly put the Slowpoke back on the ground and had to place his hand on his lower back to get up. “I didn’t know Slowpoke weighs this much,” he mumbled while making some stretching movements. "I think I ripped some muscles I didn't even know existed..." The Slowpoke gave him a goofy look and began to stare straight at his new trainer. “Gotcha,” Brendan said as he threw the Pokéball. There were no signs of the psychic type trying to resist and after three small shakes the capture was complete. Carefully, like some old grandpa with back problems, Brendan managed to grab the capsule. “Jack, you can take the lead. Your Pokémon are more suited for stuff like that anyway,” he said before moving over to Mio and placing half his weight on his friend’s shoulder by leaning onto him. “Do me a favor and warn me next time before I do something stupid, okay?” he grinned as his eye fell onto Mio’s Pokédex. You want one of those?” he asked, pointing at the Fletching.

Brendan – Dreamyard The young amateur was having a blast. Adventures like this were the whole reason he signed up in the first place. He loved the mysterious energy going on and the sudden change of the landscape. He was still taking in the change of scenery when Jason and Jack warned him. “There’s nothing un-,” he started until he quickly jumped back. “Holy Arceus, I’m so sorry Slowpok! I didn’t see you there,” he apologized. Half waiting for the Slowpoke to retaliate, Brendan took two steps back and let his eyes meet with those of the pink psychic type. Immediately a warm feeling fell over Brendan. His expression changed unconsciously to match the Slowpoke as the two continued to stare at each other. His brain threatened to shut down when a dozen thoughts popped up in his mind at the same time. But Brendan knew. He knew from the moment he saw the Slowpoke he wanted to catch it. Not only was it a psychic type, but also part water. One of the other typing’s that was high on Brendan’s list. The longer he stared into the Slowpoke’s eyes, the more he was convinced. This particular Slowpoke had appeared on his path for a reason. Brendan knew deep down, behind that dopey face, Slowpoke felt the same way; this was the start of a beautiful Bromance. Brendan bend through his knees, picked up the psychic type, and rose back to his full length. The Slowpoke dangled in his hands as Brendan turned him around so the pink Pokémon faced the rest of the group. Then he stretched his arms and told his friends with pride: “This guy will be my new partner!”

Brendan – Dreamyard During their visit at Fennel’s lab Brendan remained silent and at the back of the group. Some things he saw peeked his curiosity but there didn’t seem to be any ongoing research he was really interested in. And even if there was, he doubted he could get some information going by Fennel’s to the point attitude. But Brendan had to admit the job she gave them did sound interesting. Especially the part about Psychic types. When they finally arrived at the Dreamyard Brendan didn’t really listen to Bianca. The idea of capturing a new partner had been in his mind for a while now. During his adventure so far he had been relying on Titan but the small rock type couldn’t handle everything. And a psychic type could not only help with Titan’s fighting weakness but also be an asset when Brendan finally became an archeologist. At least more of an asset than an electric type at this point in time. “Sure, I’ll take the lead,” he replied to Jason. “I’m interested in getting a psychic type to help Titan out in future battles.” He tapped the shoulder of his friend and started to walk towards the structure with the floating debris.

Striaton City, Gate Battlefield - "Beaten and Bloodied! Stop the Feeding Frenzy!" – Brendan Brendan sighed in relief when his strategy worked, although not entirely how he had imagined it. For a second he thought they had lost when the Tyrunt took all of Titan’s remaining power head on and was still able to fight. A truly fearsome opponent. But luck was on their side. Rex was stuck between Titan’s rocks and was unable to free himself. Finally the battle would come to an end. “Titan, end this battle. Knock Rex out,” Brendan said to his Roggenrola. The small rock type didn’t move for almost half a minute before hopping just outside of Rex’s range. There he gathered all the strength he had collected during the last thirty or so seconds and stored it above his crevice. Titan’s forehead, if he actually had one, glowed for a second before the Roggenrola jumped up and slammed straight into the small dragon. He then jumped back once again. His little feet were trembling from exhaustion. All he longed for was a nice and long rest. Brendan said nothing and stared at his partner with pride in his eyes. He was so focused on the end of his battle he didn’t pay much attention to the others until a loud crash came from Jack’s location. At first Brendan thought his travel companion was in serious trouble but when he saw the mighty Emboar belonged to Bianca, he sighed in relief once more. Jack seemed to be perfectly fine and judging by Mio’s behavior he and Jason won their battle. “Look at that,” he said to Leon. “I think that Emboar might be a little too much for anyone here to handle. And I’m pretty sure your leader lost to my friends over there as well. So let’s end this already.”

Striaton City, Gate Battlefield - "Beaten and Bloodied! Stop the Feeding Frenzy!" – Brendan Brendan was relieved when the Tyrunt didn’t manage to pull off a second Dragon Dance. That would have been the end of the battle with their loss. But right now, as the small dragon prepared an aerial assault, they had the advance. This was it. Win or lose. Titan’s defenses might hold for one more attack but not a second. And there was his stamina to take into account. “Rock Blast! Hit ‘em with everything you have left!” The Roggenrola stood firm once more as he started to launch his most powerful attack towards Rex. And he too realized that if the little dragon managed to break through, his loss was almost guaranteed.

Striaton City, Gate Battlefield - "Beaten and Bloodied! Stop the Feeding Frenzy!" – Brendan The rookie trainer knew he had to come up with a new strategy. Even with raised defenses Titan wouldn’t be able to withstand many more attacks. “Crash into him with a Headbutt! Use the impact to roll away,” he instructed. The crash wasn’t pretty to watch for Brendan. The Tyrunt’s teeth found their prey but were also met with a crash from Titan. The attack was reckless and Brendan didn’t even care if the damage was successful. Sometimes the better choice was to accept the attack power of your opponent and meet him with full force. The resulting crash should throw the weaker one backwards and that was all Brendan aimed for. His Roggenrola struggled to get back on his feet but stood firm nonetheless. The distance Brendan craved for was created but didn’t solve the issue if the Tyrunt could easily dodge incoming rocks. “Shoot rocks to your left and right side. Burry them into the ground but leave an open path straight ahead.” Titan’s moveset didn’t contain much variety, forcing Brendan to get creative. So if he couldn’t slow down the Tyrunt he could try to control where that damned thing moved. “If he comes straight ahead or jumps up, give him a full powered barrage with everything you have left!"

Striaton City, Gate Battlefield - "Beaten and Bloodied! Stop the Feeding Frenzy!" – Brendan Brendan’s entire plan went down the drain when Leon spoke one simple command: Dragon Dance. He flat out ignored his opponent while trying to plan his next move. Titan could probably handle the Tyrunt’s attack after one boost but just to be safe Brendan would’ve liked to raise his partner’s defence once more. The chances of Leon allowing Brendan to execute his plan again were low. There really was only one way for now. Brendan hoped Titan’s earlier attack was enough to restrain his opponent from going maximum speed. “Keep up the pressure! Rock Blast! Keep aiming at his legs!”

Striaton City, Gate Battlefield - "Beaten and Bloodied! Stop the Feeding Frenzy!" – Brendan Titan took the attack head on. His excellent hearing allowed him to keep track of the Tyrunt’s location. The dragon’s teeth found the Roggenrola’s rocky body on the right side of the crevice. Brendan hesitated just for a second before the impact. He could’ve ordered Titan to shoot some more rocks from close distance or go head to head with a wild headbutt. But neither of those options would allow him the result he was going for. His hesitation led to Titan being bit and Brendan mentally apologized to Titan. He had to receive some damage in order to get this Tyrunt down. A risky strategy but luckily Leon’s annoying personality gave Brendan the time to raise Titan’s defenses just for this purpose. “Jump and shake him. Follow up with Rock Blast, aim for the legs!” Titan obeyed. His little feet left marks in the dirt as he jumped as high as he could while turning his entire body to the right. According to Brendan’s plan the Tyrunt would either let go or his body would move alongside Titan’s movement, bringing the legs right in front of Titan’s crevice.

Striaton City, Gate Battlefield - "Beaten and Bloodied! Stop the Feeding Frenzy!" – Brendan The moment Brendan had been waiting for finally approached. There was no way Titan would be able to dodge the incoming Bide attack. Instead he decided to raise Titan’s eviolite boosted defenses even more to even the playing field. “Rock Blast straight ahead!” The Roggenrola obeyed shooting massive rocks to collide with the incoming Bide attack. It didn’t matter if the rocks blew through or not, the real opportunity was waiting after the moment of the two attack colliding. “Depraved tactics? All I did was do the same thing as you. Did you really think I was going to attack recklessly to power up your own attack? I’m well aware your Tyrunt is strong. That’s why I bought some time to raise Titan’s defense and even my odds by a little.” Brendan said, looking straight into the eyes of his opponent. “One more thing; you talk about honor sounds like a joke. You claim to be wealthy enough to buy rare Pokémon. Yet here you are bullying a 12 year old who just started his journey...” Brendan wanted to say so much more. He had a hard time not to start ranting how Leon was a sad excuse for a trainer and a person. Bragging about the money his parents made like he stood above the common people, watching like a vulture until his friend beat Hugh just to take his money, and now they were targeting Mio. It had been a long time since Brendan was this angry and it took all his self-control not to let it out. The rookie trainer pinched the bridge of his nose and took a deep breath. This wasn’t the time to let his emotions take over control. He had to focus. As soon as the Tyrunt made his next move, that was when they were going to strike.

Striaton City, Gate Battlefield - "Beaten and Bloodied! Stop the Feeding Frenzy!" – Brendan If Leon thought Brendan was going to fall for his taunts he was gravely mistaken. From the very start the Kalos native was one of those types that annoyed Brendan to no end. The only result he was going to get was that the Rookie Trainer was going to do the opposite of what he wanted. Not really the most mature reaction but during his baseball days the strategy had paid off. Leon was eager to go head to head. And Brendan knew if he rushed in the Bide attack would hurt Titan tremendously. The only tactic left for now was to play the slow game. Some, like Leon, may consider it cowardly but for Brendan it was an easy decision. The Tyrunt was strong and there was a big chance the small dragon could overpower Titan head to head. Brendan saw only one way to victory; mess up Leon composure. If he could force Leon to make a mistake, make him lose his patience, an opening to win this battle would eventually come. Pokémon battles were not much different from team sports. Just like in baseball. Even a strong pitcher can’t perform on his best if the catcher made poor decisions. “For someone who talks so much I haven’t seen you do much either. So I think I’ll take my sweet time,” Brendan said, trying to bait Leon into attacking. “Titan, use Harden again.” The Roggenrola repeated the same process as before, waiting for the Tyrunt to come to him.

Striaton City, Gate Battlefield - "Beaten and Bloodied! Stop the Feeding Frenzy!" – Brendan The situation wasn’t favorable for Brendan and Titan. Not only were they facing someone with more experience but they also couldn’t go full offensive without suffering serious damage from Bide. “Quick, get your defense up! Use Harden!” Titan’s rocky exterior shone for a second indicating he had raised his defense, preparing for the incoming attack he couldn’t dodge. “Complimenting a Pokémon and complimenting a trainer are two different things,” Brendan said to his opponent. “Right now, the image you have given me, isn’t very praiseworthy.”

Striaton City, Gate Battlefield - "Beaten and Bloodied! Stop the Feeding Frenzy!" – Brendan “I’m Brendan,” the rookie replied. “And did you just say you bought your Pokémon? Are you one of those so called trainers that use their money to buy Pokémon that are considered rare and strong?” His eyes rested on the Tyrunt. This was his first time meeting such a rare Pokémon. In normal circumstances he would be over the moon seeing a fossil Pokémon brought back to life. He didn’t know anything about the Tyrunt other than its typing. That was one of his goals during his travels; meeting and learning about fossil Pokémon. And now he was already facing one from another region to boot. “I have to admit it’s an incredible Pokémon. I love history and archeology so I have to thank you for letting me meet an ancient Pokémon like this so early during my travels.” That was the only nice and genuine thing Brendan could say. The attitude of this trainer sickened him. Just because he was born into a rich family he thought he was above anyone else? Did he really think he could just buy his way to the top? What would happen to the Tyrunt if it lost because Leon was incapable? That asshole would probably blame the little dragon and throw it away without any thought. People like this genuinely pissed Brendan off. “Titan,” he said more firm than usual, “Rock Blast!”

Striaton City, Gate Battlefield - "Beaten and Bloodied! Stop the Feeding Frenzy!" – Brendan Brendan carefully eyed his opponent. Maybe it was the ridiculous hairstyle or the blood red eyes, but this guy seemed dangerous. Of course Brendan took in the possibility that this guy’s looks were an intimidation tactic. He wouldn’t put it past this group to play dirty if not for the confident attitude Red-Eyes had. The sort of confidence that he actually had some skill. Don’t overthink things too much. Just keep calm and trust Titan. We can’t afford to lose this battle. Brendan balled his hand into a fist as his muscles cringed around Titan’s Pokéball. It was his first time experiencing this uneasy feeling before a battle. Maybe because this time around he faced someone he actually disliked. A fast hand motion later Titan appeared on the battlefield in a flash. “I really want to win this one so let’s go all out, partner” he whispered to the Roggenrola in front of him.

Striaton City, Gate Battlefield - "Beaten and Bloodied! Stop the Feeding Frenzy!" – Brendan Brendan let out a sigh in annoyance. He had forgotten one of the basic agreements trainers made when it came to prizemoney. A flaw in his plan that the group of punks used as an easy excuse to pick a fight. And when the Misdreavus first appeared Brendan’s hand slit towards Titan’s Pokéball. His eyes scanned the nearby thugs and only when they didn’t make a move, he regained his composure and repositioned himself to back up Jason. The last thing Brendan expected was for Mio to go full offense on the main bully. The rookie trainer’s eyes almost popped out of their sockets as disbelief, pride and laughter all hit him in the gut. In the short amount of time they had traveled together, Mio had become somewhat of a little brother to Brendan. A little brother that needed encouragement and guidance when things got tough. But to see that same person now stand his ground, even after giving in earlier, made Brendan feel proud of his friend. And no matter what the consequences were going to be Brendan would have Mio’s back. A smile unconsciously formed on Brendan’s face. And after Mio’s little rant, the young trainer couldn’t help but starting to laugh. “Well said, Mio.”

Striaton City, Gate Battlefield - "Beaten and Bloodied! Stop the Feeding Frenzy!" – Brendan After making sure the group followed, Brendan took the lead in walking over towards Hugh. The muscles in his face relaxed as the amateur trainer managed to put up a genuine smile. “Hey Hugh, we finally managed to catch up,” he waved. Faking the smile was harder than expected. From up close the two bullies with an outstanding hair style were really intimidating. Brendan could only hope Mio wouldn’t panic. “Well we actually caught up in time to see your battle but we didn’t want to disturb you,” Brendan continued talking to Hugh. He quickly closed the last few steps and nodded politely at the group of bullies as he placed his hand on Hugh’s shoulder. “You put up a good fight. But your opponent is quite skilled too.” This time he gave the girl with the Jigglypuff a smile. “That Jigglypuff really is something!” In the meantime he tightened the grip on Hugh’s shoulder and slightly guided the rookie to Castelia City. “Well if you excuse us, it was a long day and we’re hungry so we’re going on ahead. But first, let’s get you to the nearest Pokécenter, Hugh. Your Oshawott deserves some rest.” It was unusual for Brendan to continue talking like this and cutting a meeting short, but these people didn’t look friendly in the slightest. All he could do now was wrap his arm around Hugh’s shoulder and guide the rookie towards Castelia City. Hopefully his plan, by not giving the bullies a chance to interrupt his monologue and walk away, worked.

Striaton City, Gate Battlefield - "Beaten and Bloodied! Stop the Feeding Frenzy!" – Brendan “I don’t think that’s a good idea, Jack. If they don’t know what’s going on they might think Hugh is trying to pull something.” Brendan said while his eyes scanned through the bullies and rested on the guy with the red eyes. “They only came out after Hugh lost. That might mean they want to avoid strong trainers and go for young and inexperienced ones that are on their own…” Brendan turned to the group to share his plan. He made direct eye contact with Jason and Jack, the two who seemed to be the most immune to intimidating bullies. “Let’s just walk over and greet Hugh as a friend who’s travelling with us. Maybe we can even congratulate his opponent or something and divert their attention. Then we just walk out of there towards the Pokécenter with Hugh between us. If we act like everything is cool we might pull it off.”
