1. I'm with the line of thought that even GameFreak doesn't know how they work or their history. Pretty sure the Apricorns are just hollowed out and the electronic device is placed inside to turn it into a Pokeball. There are two problems with that though: 1) Why does putting it inside an apricorn instead of a metal/plastic ball make it more effective in certain situations and 2) What did they use before the electronic devices? Apparently apricorns were used long before the modern Pokemon and according to bulbapedia
"The only Poké Balls that existed were made from Apricorns, with the process used to create the Poké Balls being developed sometime between 700 and 400 years before the present day in all Pokémon canons."
So the apricorns were Pokeballs before modern Pokeballs, meaning that however they work isn't dependent on technology. Which makes even LESS sense! Personally, I think it's Magic. Just look at the episode The Ancient Puzzle of Pokémopolis, where giant Pokemon the size of buildings are contained inside weird things like a spoon (Alakazam) and bell (Jigglypuff). These things don't even have anything inside that could be like a device. It's....a spoon. How else can you contain an Alakazam the size of a Pokecenter inside a spoon other than a magic?
 2. Too bad that build is on Smogon . So not really a "Little Known" strategy in my book if its listed on Smogon. Just my opinion. Still a good set and fantastic way to take advantage of Anger Point. I'd just be reluctant to rely on the luck of a Critical Hit landing when I have a Substitute up. But the chance of Critical is 6.25%, although it does feel like 22.75% sometimes. I was going to post a Froslass build but....apparently I didn't save it >_> Edit: Aha! Found one! Cresselia @ Flame Orb Ability: Levitate EVs: Unknown ~ Rest ~ Sleep Talk ~ Psycho Shift ~ N/A Wish I had more information about the EVs, but this set is coming to me second hand. At least its coming from a battler I respect very much, mtgxerxes. The premise behind this set is pretty simple: Psycho Shift either Burn or Sleep over. Pass Burn over to cripple a Physical attacker or to get some damage to build up. Sleep is to put anything to sleep, though it is a risk since Sleep Talk can make you use Rest. There are two downsides to this set being 1) You're burned so that eats up HP and 2) You cannot attack. It's supposed to be purely supportive to pass around those statuses. You could give it an attack like Psychic for STAB or some other powerful move like Ice Beam, but then you risk attacking when you want to pass over Sleep while Sleep Talking. I think the set is very interesting because its one of the few times I have seen a Pokemon NOT use all four move slots. I wouldn't trust it though because I'm not good at predicting, switching or luck. If you want to see it in action, go to mtgxerxes's youtube channel. Edit2: Yeah, copy+pasted old post just so it would show this thread has a new post >_>
 3. Dude, it's Pokemon. This site spread from another site that people like Ame, Nyu, Stars and myself are from because we didn't want to clutter it with Pokemon. The League came from that site. The League was a fun idea that we all had to pass the time. It was just one geeky aspect of many that we liked to discuss. What Reborn was really meant to be....was Pokemon. If you make friends here and have a great time and contribute that is fantastic, but the purpose of the site is not deep. Do not try and subvert that with what you are doing as it just ruins the fun experience this is supposed to be.
 4. I'm pretty sure what this is about was the discussions on the server Friday. Trying to think of quick tournament ideas besides standard OU. The point is NOT to make a big deal out of it with scoreboards, prizes, official dates, times, etc. State Teams: Build a team with Pokemon that have parallels with animals, cultures, locations, etc. of the state you live in (country if you don't live in the USA). Take Arizona for example. I could use Xatu because it has elements of a Kachina doll, Ninjask is a cicada which are insects commonly found in Arizona, and Sandslash is similar to an armadillo which is also common to the state. So long as you can justify that it has some connection to your state's culture, go for it.
 5. Purotooga is awesome.....and so is Aakeosu!!! Faint Hearted: If it's HP drops below 50%, Attack is decreased.....wait, that's not good. Acrobat: It lightly attacks the opponent. The damage is larger when it is not holding any item.....ummm, also not too good, but it should be 110 basepower without an item. Fast Guard: It protects itself and its team mates from the opponent’s priority moves. May fail if used in succession. Not as good as Wide Guard, but at least it protects against the likes of Bullet Punch, Sucker Punch, etc. Those...are the only new generation moves it learns >_> BUT IT'S A RAPTOR!!! At least they continue the trend of Fossil Pokemon looking awesome.
 6. The Grass Starter is a strong possibility because of his track record. He has had every Grass starter, three Fire starters, and just two of the Water starters. There's also no telling what his travel partners will have because they have broken the mold. We do not have the female counterpart as the female character and Brock has been replaced by Dent to fill the older brother role. I really should learn the girls name...
 7. The episodes for the next season of the anime are already being released, and you know what that means. Ash ditches his super powerful team! No more Infernape. No more Torterra. No more Staraptor. No more Gible. All Ash will start over with is Pikachu, like he has since Hoenn. Now this means one of two things: He will catch the local bird and he will catch one of more of the starters of the region. Now Ash has already caught Mamepato, at least according to released episodes and what I found on Serebii. So which starter will he catch? Will he catch more than one? How will it happen? Yada yada. Just a general discussion on which starter he is most likely to choose. We can also diverge into discusses what other Pokemon he will / has caught as time goes on. In the first two regions, Ash had all three starters and those are now unique cases. In Hoeen he only had Sceptile while the other two were given to May and Brock. In Sinnoh he had Infernape and Torterra. These last two regions are also unique because his starters all fully evolved. Before only Charizard fully evolved, Bayleef got to its second stage, and only in Sinnoh did Cyndaquil evolve. Whatever starter[s] he ends up getting this region, I think it will fully evolve, too. Before they probably didn't want him having all three fully evolved starters because Ash isn't the best trainer out there. Giving him one or two though sounds more reasonable. As far as which starter I think it will be either Fire Pig or Water Otter [Seriously, I'm too lazy to learn the Japanese names]. The reason I think the Grass Snake is out is because one of the traveling partners is going to be Dent. Who is Dent? Why he's one of the three Gym Leaders of the first Gym! In other words, he's going to be the new Brock. Now Dent is a Grass user and uses the Grass Monkey, but I don't know if he'll have that Pokemon in the anime. I'm just guessing that they would give him the Grass starter more than Ash. As to whether Ash gets Fire, Water or both, don't know. Fire Pig is my pick for the first one being obtained, and the Water starter will be second or given to the female traveling companion. What do you guys predict? Edit: Oh, and I don't watch the anime anymore. I just read character updates and episodes that seem interesting on Serebii.
 8. Then we shall carry the weight of both forums on our shoulders! Let us show our opponents that we are more than a match for them, whether we stand with allies or alone. Glory shall be heaped upon those who stand by our cause, and let the naysayers shirk away into the shadows when we return victorious! Reborn shall rise! *ahem* I also couldn't remember how well most of you have battled against other people, since normally I just see the Gym matches. Manowar just stuck out from when he kicked my ass in one of the tournaments. Otherwise, I'd need to watch all of you battle or trust your words on who the top battles are.
 9. #1: Verily #2: Mysidia, because I am unaware of who the other two choices and I've enjoyed myself whenever I go to their server #3:

Amethyst
AZKnight
Mashew
Manowar
???
I also need to look around to find info on Doc's Tourny. Otherwise, I'm just interested in the team battle for the honor of forums. Huzzah!
 10. But then for the remakes they chose FireRed and LeafGreen, so who knows. I'm sad the link doesn't work anymore. I was in the middle of the Gym Leader Challenge in the Johto Arc
 11. I'd be very interested to know how you move around the region and where the Pokemon are found. This could easily be demonstrated with a map of the region, which I believe is already released on sites, with markers showing which orders the cities go in, what it important at each city, and the Pokemon found there. I don't know how deep the plot is going to be so maybe avoid that. I guess that would be the Evil Team of the regions and any other plot points, rather find those out on my own. "This is City A, here you can find: 1) Gym #4 2) Department Store 3) Berry Shop On Route #5 you can find: Pokemon 1 Pokemon 2 Pokemon 3" Again, stay away from plot for me. Most important thing would be to label all spoilers. This info is Gyms, this info is Plot, this info is etc.
 12.
Meloia looks horribly out of place and looks like it belongs in Monster Rancher. Seriously. It's just far too humanoid for it not to appear completely out of place. I can't think of another Pokemon that is even a similar style to it. It's just, ick.
Jynx? I think tonight I'll calculate the statistics of the new generation. I'm with Amethyst, it looks like things are going to be unbalanced for Attack and Speed compared to other generations.
and look at victini's base stats. 100 across the board.
That's not unusual in the least. Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Manaphy and Shaymin all have 100 across the board. It's the trait of the Chibi Legendaries
 13. Fine, go ahead. I admit I didn't realize the Unown had the same trait. There are nearly 500 Pokemon I am familiar with, can't keep track of them all.
 14.
There are other Pokemon like Voltorb that have nothing to move and yet their poses have changed
I said Voltorb has changed its pose despite have no body parts to move. Read before you mock, twat
 15. No. I understand your thinking, but the Unown do not move their bodies so cannot "pose" in my mind. There are other Pokemon like Voltorb that have nothing to move and yet their poses have changed, but Unown wasn't what I was looking for. Sorry.
 16. They also made the Fire starter Fire/Fighting. So just....what the fuck? We've had pure Water and combined with Ground and Steel. There has also been pure Grass and combined with Poison and Ground. I know there have been 3 pure Water and Grass types, but damn it they weren't all in a row. It went Water -> Water -> Water/Ground -> Water/Steel -> Water and then Grass/Poison -> Grass -> Grass -> Grass/Ground -> Grass. I am not against having pure typing for the starters. Their role as the first Pokemon and embodying basic elements (kinda) means they don't have to change that much. They have all started as pure types save Bulbasaur so if they stay that way after fully evolving, fine. We haven't had that happen with all of them because they have, thankfully, added unique types to make them stand out. It's when they repeat these type combinations that peeves me off. It makes sense that what is supposed to be the embodiment of Water for that generation is pure Water. It does NOT make sense that what is supposed to embody Fire keeps having to also be Fighting. What the hell is it that they think that Fire/Fighting is such a natural combination? I just can't like these Fire starters anymore because they keep doing the EXACT SAME SHIT! I don't even know why they thought that a pig is the picture of fighting. Blaziken was sort of there, as you could say it's like cock fighting. A bit harsh comparison for Nintendo to use, but I don't see any other reason why a Fire bird, which starts as a chicken, would become a fighting type. Infernape probably made the most sense because of there is that Monkey Deity that is supposed to be mischievous and the master fighter. It looks like a damn Fighting type. But now a fat ass pig? Where is the logic that a pig that breaths fire should also know how to do karate? Just do not see why it had to be Fire/Fighting again when it has been done before so frequently. Again I say it: What the fuck?
 17. This Pokemon has kept the same pose for all of its sprites
 18. Oh! I think I know this. I remember looking up Magikarp and finding it wasn't the flat out weakest. Most the the bugs are near the bottom, but I believe the only one that is stronger than Sunkern and no more is... Azuril? Azurril? Azurill? It's one of those spellings
 19. I refuse to look this up! I don't care if it costs me losing the round Drifblim
 20. Also changed Scizor from Bug to Steel when I realized there weren't any other Steel I would like to be.

.....mother fucker And seeing the Water starter (I am not learning the Japanese names) dance around and look....happy, I think it looks better. Its artwork is rather glum. Plus, it has those canine fangs! Those make everything look better.
 22.
Alright, Poison, Ground, Bug, and Dragon. But seeing as Dragon was in the Elite Four 3 times, and seeing that Poison and Bug are probably the worst types in the game, the only surprising one is Ground.
And yet both Poison and Bug were good enough to receive the status of Elite Four, with Bug being the most recent. Both types have perfectly good Pokemon like Scizor, Tentacruel, Heracross, Gengar, Yanmega, Weezing, Ninjask, Toxicroak, etc etc. And I really hope that you aren't basing what a "good" Pokemon is based on the tiers from Smogon for two reasons. 1) The vast majority of Pokemon can do well with the right strategy and situation. Hell, I've seen a Luvdic that actually threatened my team. 2) The Gym Leaders are Story Mode, which is nothing like the Metagame. Odds are you won't have your competitive team to fight them, so they don't have to be competitive either.
In my opinion, Dark isn't a gym leader because there aren't enough Dark type Pokemon available at lower levels. This explains why its been an Elite Four type twice. Unless B/W adds a motherload of new Dark types, I'm doubting a Dark Leader. But I could be wrong.
Let's take a look at this "available at lower levels." Now the first game that Dark was available was GSC, which was also the first Dark Elite Four. But sadly there were only 6 Dark Pokemon, 5 being fully evolved (Umbreon, Murkrow, Sneasel, Houndoom, Tyranitar). Now the odd thing is that Karen only had 3 of those 5. Tyranitar might have been missing since you can't get it until after beating the Elite Four and all 16 Gyms. Could have shown it so people would want it, but they didn't and I've always sorta accepted it. Sneasel is also missing and I don't know why this is. All I can guess is because your Rival used one so they wanted to limit overlap. Now they would have been limited in options for a Dark Gym in Johto, but it could have been done. Something like Houndour and Houndoom (tradition of leaders having multiple stages) plus some of the others. But Houndour/Houndoom was the main type of the Rocket Executive you battle plus you can't actually find it until Kanto, so I feel that's why it wasn't used. Then without it you only have 3 other Dark types with no evolutions so a Gym would have been weak. As I mentioned earlier, Karen was already lacking her own type. Level would never be a problem though since Gyms have broken the laws of Pokemon before. That being they'll have an evolved Pokemon at a lower level than it normally evolves. Otherwise, who cares if a Leader has a Pokemon that's at a lower level than what you can find in the wild? I'm sure they've done it before. In fact, let's look at the level of Dark Pokemon in the wild in RSE, as it adds 7 more Dark types, probably enough to make a Gym (it was enough for the Elite Four). Mightyena: It's found as a Poochyena on the very first route in the game. Meaning you can find it at level 3. I think the first trainer you face uses one actually. Then it evolves at level 18 so it could be used in an early Gym no problem. Shiftry: Again, found really early in the game as a Seedot. Now Seedot isn't Dark so it wouldn't count until evolving into a Nuzleaf, but that happens at level 14. That's low enough to maybe be a First Gym, definitely a Second Gym. Sableye: Found in Granite Cave before the Second Gym between levels 9 and 11. Sure it can only be found in Sapphire and Emerald, but I wouldn't question seeing it in a Gym in Ruby. So if we combined this with Poochyena/Mightyena and Nuzleaf, we could already have a Dark Gym. Carvanha/Sharpedo: It can be caught as early as level 10. So again, it could be used in a Gym. Though it was used by Team Aqua so that could be a reason it wasn't part of a Gym. And I don't feel like going further since I've already shown that there are more than a enough Dark Types available at lower levels for RSE alone. There is also not a shortage of them because Sidney had a full, well rounded Dark Team. I also don't see why they have to be at a low level. Would there be something wrong with making the Dark Gym the 7th or 8th one? And to say that Dark needs a lot of Pokemon for B&W means that every type needs a lot, since we are starting from scratch. Shouldn't be too hard considering the first games managed to do it, and with two less types. Right now a Dark Gym is as plausible as any other type of Gym.
