2. For a second I was worried because of the topic title. "Damn it, what did I not do now to piss someone off?" But yay, it's just poetry. Wish I could appreciate it more, but I've always been horrible at interpreting poetry. It sounds impressive, certainly more than other content posted here. Perhaps a serious discussion could come from this.
3. Why would you assume I'm using a cheating device? Since when did that become the norm for playing the storymode? I have a Rotom, but since I'll be starting a new game I won't be able to get another one. Sorry.
4. Having a Dragon like Garchomp can never hurt as they are generally beasts in the regular game. Used one the last time I played through Platinum. Lucario is also an interesting choice because, believe it or not, I have never used one before. Now the reason for this is pretty silly. I was rather bitter toward Lucario at first because I did not understand why it was getting all this out-of-game hype. After all, it's not a legendary Pokemon or anything, yet it was a major mascot of DP and got its own spot in Brawl. That hatred is long gone now, but I never had a chance to use it in the game. Staraptor, too, will be given consideration. I should only listen to one of Dragonz suggestions. But now I have a Starter dilemma. I hate to have types repeat on my team for unneeded coverage and weaknesses. But now with Grass/Fighting/Steel, that covers all three starters. I'll have to be redundant! Noooooooo! Just in case anyone is curious, this was my team when I played the story over a year ago. Infernape Togekiss Gastrodon (Sucked beyond belief) Weavile Tangrowth Garchomp
5. No, I haven't played a ROM for them. I just don't really see the point of playing a hacked version of a game I'm going to buy anyway. Plus, you lose a lot in translation from the DS to a PC in my opinion. I'm going to get both, just a matter of which to get for free(er). Although now I'm paranoid that the Action Replay won't work on B&W and they'll release a new version and it will have been wasted. Yay unfounded fears! I like the idea of using Leafon. I've actually never used one before so it would be something new for me.
6. My preparations are finally complete. I have transferred over everything of value (Event Pokemon, EV Trained Pokemon, Rare Items, etc.) from my Platinum game to my HeartGold game. Yes, I will still be losing a lot of stuff, but at least I can get it all again when I replay Platinum. Because that's what I'm doing! If anything it's because I miss playing the new games but also because I want to replay the latest generation before Black & White comes out. Fresh reminder of where we just came from before experiencing where we are going. Now I want to [s]wrangle[/s] [s]force[/s] [s]coerce[/s] [s]blackmail[/s] encourage the Reborn community to have some input and influence on this. Exactly how? By recommending Pokemon for me to use on my journey! I just love coming up with new ways to use more Pokemon and not just my favorites. Be that doing something like my Mono-Bug challenge on LeafGreen or simply trying not to repeat using Pokemon. "Hmmm...I used Tentacruel last time, so I'll use Starmie this time around." First Come, First Serve: Going to try and stick with the first suggestions that come through. Because of this, do not do multiple suggestions. Give other people a chance. Also means first person to pick my Starter, go for it. And again, I'm fine with variety. Give me strong Pokemon, weak Pokemon or weird Pokemon, just give me a fun team. But I swear if someone goes "U shud use siix Bidoofz!1" I'm going to give up on you guys. Just want to do something fun that involves you guys. Oh, and should I spend a $38 credit at Gamestop for Black & White or for an Action Replay? --------------------------------------------------------------------- THE TEAM ~ STARTER ~ Leafeon ~ Lucario ~ #4 ~ #5 ~ #6

8. I'm going to give a random top 6 of: Scizor Smeargle Breloom Ninjask Flygon Torterra
9. Because I'm buzzed on the happiness of having a good time with friends tonight, I propose something silly and weird. Post which PokeGirls you would go out with. For the girls, you can either just do which you like best or think if you were a guy / lesbian. Guys have to go on who they'd date though. Not just which ones they like the best.
10.
It's a reference from pg. 13
Wow. That reference was a long time ago. But it was a good one and will make for a good callback if you read through the archives at once. Instead of reading a page every 1-4 weeks.
11. Status Infliction Jellicent (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Cursed Body EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpDef Calm Nature (+SpDef, -Atk) - Boil Over - Shadow Ball / Evil Eye - Toxic - Recover This set is meant to take hits, spread around nasty statuses, and then to Recover-stall the opponent to death. Boil Over gets STAB plus the added bonus of a 30% chance to Burn. Being able to inflict Burn on the opponent will slowly chip away at their health and allow Jellicent to take the Physical side of attacks better. The other important status move is Toxic, which along with Recover will allow Jellicent to stall out the opponent. For the Steel and Poison Pokemon you can't Toxic, Boil Over can cover them. Shadow Ball provides a second STAB move for Jellicent and has a chance to lower the opponent's Special Defense and easier to take down or force them to switch. Evil Eye can be used instead since it become more powerful if the opponent has a status, like Poison or Burn. Recover lets you stay in all the longer and stall them out once you've given them either Burn or Toxic. Cursed Body can help stop Pokemon that might threaten Jellicent, as they're super effective moves can be disabled, or even better if they have a Choice item. Water Absorb can be used to allow safe switches on Water moves and to regain health. The EVs make sure Jellicent is bulky to take most hits and is helped on the physical side if you Burn them.
12. Swords Dance Scizor (M) @ Life Orb / Leftovers / Expert Belt Trait: Technician EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SpAtk) - Swords Dance - Bullet Punch - Brick Break / Superpower - Bug Bite / Roost This set allows Scizor to set up and sweep teams. If you can get at least one Swords Dance up, there are not a lot of things that will like taking yours moves. Bullet Punch is the signature move of Scizor as Technican and STAB boost it to 90 Base Power, with the added bonus of it being priority. Brick Break is preferred over Superpower as after a Swords Dance it can easily OHKO many things. Superpower gives that added power you need to take out bulky Pokemon that can take Brick Break, but it negates your Swords Dance and lowers your Defense, leaving you vulnerable. The last slot determines if you want to be more offensive or defensive. Bug Bite gets a boost from Technician to make it as powerful as Bullet Punch, but then STAB pushes it over the edge making it have 135 Base Power. Roost on the other hand allows Scizor to stay in longer, either damaging more Pokemon or getting up more Swords Dances. Quick Attack could also be used to get priority on Pokemon that resist Bullet Punch, like Gyarados. Life Orb boosts the already deadly attacks from Swords Dance, but Leftovers can help Scizor live longer. Expert Belt is a less used option if you don't like the idea of recoil damage from Life Orb. As this set is meant to sweep, its best to scout out the opposing team and take out anything that might impede Scizor.
13. Stockbelly Snorlax Snorlax @ Leftovers Trait: Thick Fat EVs: 252 HP / 248 Def / 8 SDef Impish Nature (+Def, -SpAtk) - Stockpile - Rest - Belly Drum - Body Slam Start off with setting up Stockpiles to help you take hits better. Once you hit the max amount of three Stockpiles or when you start taking negligible damage, either Belly Drum if you're still in good shape or Rest to regain full HP. This is why Thick Fat is preferred over Immunity because if you do get Toxic on you, Rest will remove it along with Paralysis or Burn. Plus, Thick Fat adds to your ability to take hits from Fire and Ice type attacks. Once you have Stockpiles and Belly Drum up, start to use Body Slam. This move is chosen because Snorlax gets STAB, good base power, good PP, and it has a 30% chance to Paralyze. Because of this, you can use Body Slam before you finish setting up with Stockpile and Belly Drum to induce paralyze and make it easier to set up. Once you do all of this, then Snorlax is ready to take hits and dish out pain. It has almost equal Defense to its Special Defense, allowing it to take hits from both sides of the spectrum and works in tandem with Stockpile. When Snorlax is fully set up with the max Stockpiles (3) and Belly Drum, it will have 625 Defense, 640 Special Defense and 1032 Attack. The last 8 EVs can either go in Defense or Special Defense for more durability or in Attack for more power, its up to you. The only weakness this set has is that it cannot touch Ghosts. It is also susceptible to moves like Taunt, Encore and Trick which shut down any Pokemon that needs to set up. And of course, any Pokemon carrying powerful Fighting moves like Close Combat. It is recommended that you wait for the late game, scout the opposing team, and eliminate any counters before bringing Snorlax in, set up and sweep.
14.
...new Admin, Ashen! Ashen rejoins the staff, heading up a certain project development. Reborn is developing its own Pokedex, complete with the strategy section and moveset collection... ...we will be asking for the help of everyone to make this project a success. ...a new forum has been created under the Pokemon section ...submit your sets into the strategy dex. ...feel free to comment on, critique each others' or edit your own sets as well. I'll write a query myself that will allow you all to search a specific Pokemon and go to that topic quickly. If anyone has any suggestions of things to be sure to include in the Pokedex, feel free to drop them off here.
For anyone too lazy to read Ame's post (which is most of you (Kidding (Or am I?))) even though the entire post contains valuable knowledge with highlighted sections. I'll ask questions after I take a look at the project.
15. I like all of the banners and could see myself using all of them. Guess I'll just have to rotate my usage of them. Bravo to the winner of the monochrome contest. Oh joy, the X-League. Because the normal League wasn't enough torture.
16. I...don't get it. Where did the dust cloud come from?
17. I'd change my vote to the one with Reshiram and Zekrom if the outline around Zekrom was cleaner. But as Maelstrom said, quality over content.
18. I trust Ame and I guess Bulbapedia is just slow at updating. Or extra careful. Either way, I trust Ame's list and have included it in the original list. Serperior - Just like Braviary, I do not like it when they make the name the exact same as a real word but merely spelled differently. I get the name, Serpent + Superior, but when I read the name I'm going to pronounce it like Superior with a slight and barely noticeable difference in the e and u. It doesn't feel like a Pokemon name. Felt the same way about Seel, too. Emboar - Similar problem to Braviary and Serperior, but I think there is enough of a pronounciation difference between Emboar and Ember that I won't mind it. There's enough emphasis on the boar part. They're cutting it close though. Samurott - I like the name, but this time they screwed up the Pokemon. Dewott looking awesome with the whole samurai otter theme. Then for some reason they did make Samurott bipedal. Why?! It's not even otter looking now and barely samurai like. I like the Pokemon and the name, but would have liked it better had they done something more like Dewott. Simisage / Simisear / Simipour - ....nevermind, they're all stupid. Fucking hate them all. Conkeldurr - Noooooooooooooo! They were so close to having witty if not silly names for the entire evolution line. Timburr. Oh! It's holding a piece of wood or timber. Genius! Gurdurr. Oh! It's holding a steel beam or girder. Genius! Conkeldurr. Uhhhh....What? I just do not get it at a passing glance like the other two. It's holding two concrete pillarst so I guess the Conk part refers to concrete but...? I looked into it and someone suggested that it's supposed to be pronounced Conk + Elder because it holds concrete and is the elder evolution, as shown by it having a small grey beard and wrinkles. I can kind of get behind it, but it's such a divergence from the other two that I just don't know if I can like it. Whimsicott - Whim...whimis...whimsis....whimsic.....whimsicott? How the fuck do you pronounce that?! I'm sure I'll come to say it with ease in time, but I don't get what it means. Whimsical? But...is there anything else? Can someone try and sell this name to me?! Scraggy / Scrafty - Whaaaaaaat? I don't follow... Hell, Scraggy is an official English word! I would have thought they'd go a different direction. Or one that I would understand. The other names I'm looking through I either like, neutral, can't really describe or just don't care. These make me hurt though for the most part.
19. I got to the end of the Bowser level, but where the Toad should have been there was a...chicken man. He killed me. - 192 Lives.
20. I have recently transferred all the Pokemon I care about (Event Exclusive, EV Trained, Cool Pokemon, etc.) from my Platinum to my HeartGold game. I really want to be able to play through one of my DS games again before Black & White come out and I can't bear to restart and lose all that valuable stuff. Once I transfer my Pokemon with Pokerus over then I'll be all set. Except I'm too lazy to save the items. I'll list the items I find valuable here, but feel free to ask for any others because I might still have them. Won't be able to do any trades this week, but hopefully can this weekend and the following week. So here's the list: Heart Scale x 6 Black Belt Sooth Bell Odd Keystone Amulet Coin Master Ball TM 11 (Sunny Day) TM 12 (Taunt) TM 18 (Rain Dance) TM 24 (Thunderbolt) TM 27 (Return) TM 29 (Psychic) TM 30 (Shadow Ball) TM 35 (Flamethrower) TM 51 (Roost) TM 59 (Dragon Pulse) TM 60 (Drain Punch) TM 66 (Payback) TM 81 (X-Scissor) TM 92 (Trick Room) Again, I have more but keeping it to what I think people would actually bother trading for. Feel free to ask for other items. Do not have to give me anything in return since I will be restarting the game and lose it anyway. If you want to, I won't say no and I'll send it over to HG
21. I am using this article on Bulbapedia for my list of official releases: List of English and Japanese Pokemon Names
In some cases, the trademarked romaji is similar to the English name with the exception of one or two letters. The names of new Pokémon will be added as their names become available to the public.
As you can see, the romaji is NOT always the same as the official English release. Leaks that come out may be correct, but I prefer to wait for the official release to avoid thinking any false leaks are correct. Heck, not even all of the Pokemon have trademarked romaji yet.
22. I couldn't find the leaks in any organized place, so I just went off the officially released ones. Easier to use one place rather than searching for scattered ones and trying to figure out which ones are legitimate. I warned you about Woobat. Everyone thought things would be soooo much better without Zubat and you were giddy about a Psychic Bat. Now you see it for what it is like everyone else: Horrible!
23. The following Pokemon have had their English names revealed on Bulbapedia as of December 22:
Snivy Tepig Oshawott Patrat Pansage Pansear Panpour Munna Musharna Pidove Blitzle Gigalith Woobat Drilbur Excadrill Sewaddle Sandile Darmanitan Cofagrigus Zorua Zoroark Minccino Gothitelle Reuniclus Alomomola Klink Axew Braviary Reshiram Zekrom
HOWEVER, Ame has provided a list of English names that I trust of every Pokemon. Feel free to refer to that over Bulba's outdated listed.
----------------------------------------------------
What do you guys think of the English names that have been revealed so far? I have been fearing this so much from the beginning. Why? Because of the overexposure we have been getting of the games before they come out more than any of the other games. I look at Darmanitan and I still think Hihidaruma and I need to stop that. These are the names we are going to call them, we must get used to it (unless you're Ame who probably will still call them by their Japanese names). This does not mean we should scorn the new English names as many of them are decent or great, but some just flat out suck. Patrat - How can I put this...oh, I know: YOU'RE NOT A RAT! I like the name and could see it being another option for Rattata or other rat-like Pokemon. But Patrat is based on a prairie dog / chipmunk / meerkat, not a rat. Good name, wrong match. Pansage / Pansear / Pansoak - I have mixed feeling about these. To my knowledge, the Pan in all of their name is referring to Chimpanzees because they are monkeys. Subtle, but this subtle is weird for Pansear. Why? Because pan searing is a form of cooking. Which oddly makes sense with the fire motif. But then if you start thinking that way and not the chimpanzee way, the other two make less since. I like the pan idea, just wish they hadn't chosen Sear for the fire one. Pidove - It's a combination of pigeon and dove. I like it. Excadrill - I like the components of this name. Excavation and Drill pretty much describe its design and function as a mole with hands that turn into a drill. I just don't like how it sounds, does not roll off the tongue. Hope that changes as I grow accustomed to it. Sewaddle - Another name I like. It calls upon the idea of sewing which matches its design as a caterpillar that possibly produces silk for cloth and sewing. The waddle part I guess would refer to how caterpillars waddle around. It's a good name. Sandile - It's a Crocodile that lives in the sand. Simplistic, straightforward and great name. Gothitelle - At least they aren't hiding the fact that it is a Goth Pokemon. Alomomola - Every time I look at this name I want to say Alomola and cut out that second om. That repetition is not smooth when I say it out loud. I understand all sources it takes its name from like the fish it's based on, being a mom figure, and aloha, but it does not roll off the tongue. Klink - Sounds more like a nickname you would give the Pokemon rather than it's official name. Not a bad name though. Axew - It's a dragon that is based around having an axe in its mouth. I approve the name and hope the evolutions follow the trend. Braviary - Oh I frown upon this one most of all. I loved the Japanese name and for a long time though that it was its released English name. Wargle just sounds so cool and you understand right away where the name is coming from: War or Warrior and Eagle because when you look at it, it's a warrior eagle! But the Braviary went a completely different way by combining Bravery with Aviary. It's not even a real combination, looks more like some misspelled the word Bravery with an ia instead of an e. I shall mourn the loss of a cool name to one that is just a lack of proper spelling.
24. I normally do not comment on other people's teams, but I just can't help myself this time. I would get rid of Toxic on Doryuuzu. It just doesn't match it's offensive purpose and would be better replaced with X-Scissor, Shadow Claw, Rock Slide, etc. Instead, I would put Toxic on Gliscor and get rid of Fire Fang. That's all I wanted to say. Oh, and hello and welcome!
25. I had a dream during the last month that Nintendo and Gamefreak approached me to be the regional Gym Leader of Arizona. I chose to be a dual Bug / Normal type Gym. It seemed odd to me after I woke up, but I suppose it's true. Scizor, Shuckle and Yanmega are my favorite Bug Pokemon I like to use and I do like a lot of other ones like Pinsir, Heracross and Beedrill. Then of course for Normal types there is Snorlax as well as Togekiss and Kangaskhan. As with Bugs there are ones I just like such as Persian, Tauros and Ursaring. I think I would also add Ground as a third favorite type. Nidoking and Nidoqueen, Marowak, Sandslash, Donphan and Flygon among others. To be honest though, I find it hard to think of a favorite type. There are plenty of Pokemon from those three groups that I hate and other groups that have only a few I like, but I really like them. For the sake of discussion and giving an answer: Bug / Ground / Bug. I should make a Bug / Normal team...
