  1. NO ONE ELSE HAS POSTED. I'M NOT GONNA POST EVERY OTHER TIME WHEN NONE OF YOU EVEN WENT TO SLEEP.
  2. That feel when Ziggs pokes >:C
  3. Sonny noticed Sarcus walking toward him and shuffled some papers around to look busy and official and... stuff. He listened to Sarcus carefully as the young Trainer explained the issues he was having with his Gallade. The Scout stopped and thought for a moment. During this time, Sarcus's Metang glided into the room. "Ah, I see your Beldum has evolved! Sarcus, I think the trouble is that you evolved your Kirlia too early. Even though Gallant is a strong Pokemon, he is still immature. He'll grow out of it, I'm sure, but a good way to make sure he doesn't do anything drastic is to put him away. That should also give you time to raise your team more effectively." Sonny touched his amulet gently. It released a soft, white glow, then a Litleo appeared curled up and sleeping on the desk. "I love all my partners dearly, Sarcus, but when you merge with them you will begin to understand that with the exception of one or two, your Pokemon won't mind being away. I haven't merged with her yet, but little Nemea here loves to sleep, so she's fine with being away." Sonny lightly stroked Nemea's head, causing her to purr in her sleep. "I hope that helped a bit."
  4. Sonny's team is: Tuatara- Heliolisk (F), level 55 Rayleigh- Sawsbuck (M) (Summer antlers), level 55 Harvey- Girafarig (M) level 35 Nemea- Pyroar (F) level 25
  5. Sonny nodded at Sarcus's question and paused for a moment. "Like I said, disrupting the illusion physically works very well. Magic also works well." Sonny then launched into the remainder of his lecture, most of it being examples of Illusion magic spells and how to counter them. He then looked at the clock. "Well, that's all the time we have for today. If you have any questions about anything, even your Pokemon and training them, feel free to ask me."
  6. Sonny smiled awkwardly and scratched his head. "I suppose I could repeat that, but that's the simplest explanation I can give you. If I make it any simpler, important things will be left out. I suggest you read Master of Illusions, a piece composed by the Pokemon League Champion Wallace. He has an entire chapter based around countering illusions, but his explanation might leave your jaw on the floor judging by your reaction to mine. Now pay attention, because I'm only going to say this one more time." Sonny took a deep breath, then repeated almost exactly what he had already said about countering illusions.
  7. Sonny glanced at the student who'd told him to continue, stifling a laugh. "Alright, but only because you said it's okay. Not like I had an entire lesson planned out for the period or anything," he said while chuckling quietly. "Anyhow, we'll progress onto how to counter or break an illusion. One of the simplest ways to do this is by disrupting the illusion itself. Most illusion magic is based on the five senses and manipulating them. Anything that can break this manipulation, such as interrupting a visual illusion by putting an object into it that does not belong there or an auditory one by introducing a new sound, will cause a breakdown in the magical backbone of the spell. The other method is more complex, but also much more reliable when facing a master Illusionist. Using Illusion magic, it is possible to reverse the spell by dismantling the magic that comprises it. As spells tend to vary from user to user at higher levels, this can become very difficult. It takes a lot of practice and a lot of experience to be able to identify the individual components of an illusion and break them down. However, once one part of an illusion is broken, the other parts become less stable to the point where they may become susceptible to the first method of dispelling illusions. Any questions?"
  8. Name: Jory Region: Sinnoh Pokemon: Zangoose, Dragonite, Heliolisk, Gardevoir, Entei, Gyarados Trainer Class: Casual Dude
  9. Jory took stock of who else was there. It appeared as though he and Color were the only two members of their team who had made it out alive. He sighed and shook his head, then looked up when he heard Rin ask if anyone needed to use the Pokemon Center. "Shredder needs to heal up. He had a rough match with the Conclave Mother, but we made it out okay." He then walked over and stood next to Rin as she inquired about Daniel.
  10. Sonny chuckled, having recognized Grace from the forest. "Always the eager Bidoof, eh Grace? I will get to countering and breaking illusions in just a moment, so please bear with me. However, I like the specificity of that second question, so I'll answer that right away. As we're referring to Illusion magic, I would assume that it is fairly obvious that one should cast simple background replication spell to cover any footprints. In terms of sound, you'll want to couple your invisibility with a muffling spell. However, I rarely use invisibility, as it is unreliable and easy to see through for any experienced Illusionist. I prefer the Unnoticeable spell. It simply clouds the minds of others, preventing them from noticing you or any traces you may have left behind for as long as the spell is active. Any other questions, or may I continue?"
  11. ---THE NEXT DAY--- The teacher droned on about the homework assignment from the night before. However, as the current Illusion Magic instructor, Sonny felt obligated to at least pretend to pay attention to his colleague as he sat quietly in the back corner of the room. Then, the man turned to him and beckoned him to the front of the room. "Class, today the Illusion Magic instructor, Sonny, will be lecturing you all on how to deal with Illusion Magic in a battle. Please note that this lesson will appear on your next written exam, so make sure you take notes. Sonny, if you would take the floor?" Sonny smiled and nodded, striding to the front of the room. He nodded to the other instructor, who packed up his things and left the room. "Hmm... I only see a couple of my own students in this room. So, to begin, my name is Sonny. I'm a guard in our village, but I mostly take on scouting duties around the forest to make sure the Pokemon are alright. Now, there are many things you should know about Illusion magic in case you end up on the wrong end of it. The first is to remember to remain calm. Illusion magic preys on your basest instinct: Fear. In order to keep a clear head, always remember to withdraw your Pokemon into your amulet. Your concern for them will only be a weakness to be exploited. This magic will attempt to use everything you know, care for, and love against you. Personally, I believe that Illusion Magic is even more powerful than Offensive Magic. As a user of both, it is clear to me that they have completely separate purposes. For example, Illusions have a difficult time affecting the material. They will deceive your senses, but generally cannot harm you. Are there any questions before I continue?"
  12. Just a quick update on Sonny's team, particularly since I haven't posted in a bit. Tuatara- Heliolisk, F, level 55 Rayleigh- Sawsbuck, M, level 55 Harvey- Girafarig, M, level 30 Nemea- Litleo, F, level 25 In case y'all hadn't noticed, I'm going for mono-Normal. Additionally, I designed my character to be approachable and all "mentor-y" to promote his interaction with students, but that doesn't seem to be going particularly well ^.^'
  13. You can shoot lazerbeams from your eyes. Too bad they're not lazer-proof. I wish I didn't have to sleep alone all the time.
  14. #nope. Also if you guess the same person every time, you're bound to get it >> Hai Alpha
  15. Roland nodded in agreement with Crag's logic. After all, Roland would likely be scouting tomorrow and had spent the better part of the evening dragging two fully grown bucks back from the meadow. He stopped eating for a moment, savoring the flavor of the stew before it slid down his throat. "The presence of bandits here has me worried, especially considering the fact that we are so close to civilization. I would recommend traveling backward and warning the town guard, but we cannot afford to lose any more time," he continued, a tinge of regret in his voice. "Let us hope that we killed all of them, or at least enough to discourage the rest from approaching the town." Roland finished his stew and prepared his bedroll, then took a seat by the fire. "Crag, I shall wake you when the Moon has made a third of her journey across the sky. You are all welcome to fall asleep at your leisure."
  16. I feel you on that, although the best part about acting stupid is when you get to say something really insightful and eloquent that leaves people's lower jaws on the floor so you can curbstomp them.
  17. Smogon has more staff to do research. It's like trying to build an F-16 in your garage before a fully equipped production plant can. Sure it's possible, but is it really worth the effort when they already have an excellent system in place that is proven to work and can simply be slightly modified in order to make it more agreeable? The answer is no. That was a rhetorical question.
  18. I prefer to think of religion like a penis, although many of the same principles apply: Every man has one, but I get arrested for waving mine around in public you don't have to shove it down everyone else's throat- especially children. Personally, I just don't give a good goddamn about religion. When I'm asked what I believe in if I don't believe in a "god", I simply reply: "Why do you care?" Religion is not a necessity, nor is it something to hate. Having faith in something is admirable, even if evidence points against it (I'm looking at you, Nessie fans). In my opinion, religion provides a moral code by which to live for people who, through no fault of their own, are not able to form their own code. Just like not everyone is suited to be a politician (*cough*Ron Paul*cough*), not everyone can decide adamantly what is right and what is wrong. I choose to live by my own moral code, which has three basic tenets: 1) "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you." This should be self-explanatory and forms the basis of my "doctrine." If each person treats one another with respect, society becomes substantially more pleasant. 2) "We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery, we need humanity. More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness." -Charles Chaplin I am huge believer in the impact of a random act of kindness. Although it may be a bit lengthy, I have a short anecdote that embodies this belief. One day, I was riding the train home from New York City with my father. I had just gotten off of a seven hour Amtrak ride back from Richmond, where I attend college. About five minutes after we sat down in a three-seat row and I hoisted my luggage onto the overhead rack, I noticed that there was a man standing up while there were many seats open. There was nothing special about this man that caused him to warrant a seat- he looked to be in his mid-twenties and in relatively good health and did not seem overly tired. Many of these were middle seats between total strangers, but it shocked me that no one had even had the common courtesy to offer him a place to sit down after a long day at work, especially considering the fact that many of the folks on the train had likely come from similar circumstances. Doing what I believed was right, I moved my bag off the middle seat in my row and under it, then slid over to the seat next to my father- the dreaded middle seat (gasp!). I then waved to get his attention and asked him if he wanted the aisle seat. He politely declined, but the small smile that crossed his lips as he did so made the effort worth it to me. My father then turned to me and said, "[Jory], what the hell was that? You were gonna give up your aisle seat?" He seemed decidedly upset, as though what I had done had somehow affected him in any way, shape, or form. I simply said, "If it were me, I'd want him to do the same." My father shook his head and sat facing forward with a clearly miffed expression for the remainder of the train ride home. Just because someone is a stranger does not mean he/she/xe is any less worthy of basic human kindness. 3) Care about the beliefs of others, but do not mold yourself to them. Think for yourself. Just because someone tells you something as truth does not mean it has to be true for you. Listen to others and value their opinions. If after careful consideration and proper research you determine what you were told to be true, then by all means live by it. However, always remember to ask one simple question: "Why should this apply to anyone, let alone me?" For example, I'm sure by now you all know my stance on use of marijuana and premarital sex. I believe both are an integral part of the life experience. The Old Testament states that premarital sex is wrong. This should not apply to me because I am terrible at making decisions and I find sex to be an extremely intimate and emotional experience. In my opinion, having sex is important in getting in touch with your potential life partner, whether it be a he, she, or xe. Does this mean I think everything in the Old Testament is a load of crap? No. Some of the ideas are extremely important, like the whole "Thou shalt not kill," thing. I do think that everything in it should be subject to close scrutiny by each person exposed to it in order to allow each person to decide for him/her/xem-self whether or not it is said individual's personal truth. There are many more things that I attempt to live by, but I think these three best encapsulate the way I try to live my life. I am not telling anyone how to live. I am not knocking religion in general. I am promoting individuality of thought and expression, something that I believe is devalued these days. I also find it ironic that my dad walked into my room (which is on the opposite side of the house from his) while I was typing this and yelled at me to go to sleep, even though I was not keeping him up and he only woke up to get a drink of water.
  19. Suddenly, Jory! The next person is going to be Ryan because he is kawaii desu kawaii.
