  1. The half-Orc chuckled as Odin not only caught the thief red-handed, but gave her a lesson in it to boot. He then shook his head and turned his attention to his ale, which he lifted off the table by the tankard's handle and took a long gulp of. Drug'thok then stomped his foot on the floor. Sand and dirt trickled in tendrils under the tavern door. They wrapped around the legs of the almost-thief's chair, yanking it out from under her. Then, as quickly as the tendrils entered the tavern, they were gone. Drug'thok took another long swig of ale, wiping his chin with his free forearm.
  2. I just thought it might be a good reference. Not saying that any characters look exactly like that, but in terms of garb and the ability to have Pokemon in it I felt it was pretty good.
  3. I'm of the opinion that we should do a little bit of imaging on our characters using this thing.
  4. btw Hukuna you know that the Drunken Clam is the name of the bar Peter and his friends frequent in Family Guy, right?
  5. Jory nodded at Oak's suggestion, then pressed the white button in the center of Sampson's ball again. The fiery GAO appeared in a flash of light, then whinnied happily and took off galloping around the edge of the clearing. "I guess he just had to... burn off a little steam," Jory said lightheartedly, chuckling to himself as Sampson came back around and stood near Jory, giving its trainer a derisive snort. "Although I still don't think he thinks much of me. Do ya, big guy?" The GAO snorted again, as if in answer to Jory's question.
  6. The cloaked figure looked up at the dwarf, his flat upturned nose and his protruding lower canine teeth giving away his heritage. The half-Orc reached across the table, clasping the dwarf's forearm in a friendly handshake. "I thank you for your kind words, friend. Not many have them for we half-men. I am called Drug'Thok Grunara. And I am simply a traveler, making my way among these, the least traveled of lands." He gestured to the bag next to his chair. "I am a... scholar. So, how long has this tavern been in your family?"
  7. A half-Orc sat alone at a small table in the corner, his face masked by the shadows created by his maple-colored cloak. Next to his chair was a small satchel. The stocky figure raised his cup, draining it of the mead that remained. He was sullen for a moment; after all, he had just spent the last of his coin that he'd budgeted for drinks during this stop. Fortune favored the half-Orc, however, as a Paladin initiate walked in. The lone figure took little notice of the dwarf before another, presumably his father, embraced him and then offered everyone a Thunderbrew Ale. The lone half-Orc sat stoically at his table, however. Many people were not overly fond of the Green Orcs, and so it was the safer course of action not to attract any attention to himself. He took his pipe, a wooden one with a long stem, out from under his cloak and began to put some pipe-weed in it. When he was done, he lit a match and inhaled, then exhaled a large smoke ring and blew three smaller ones through it. The lone figure smiled slightly to himself before his face returned to a mask of stoicism.
  8. Jory stood still as Oak asked them to release their GAOs, still cradling Nefertiti in his arms. She made a low yipping noise, which Jory took to mean she wanted to be put down. He bent over and released the GAO from his arms, allowing it to land adroitly on the ground. She cautiously approached Keaton's fox-like GAO, then, seeming satisfied with what she'd discovered, approached Sheriff and made an inquisitive mewling noise. Jory chuckled lightly, then looked down at his other capsule. "Professor, are some of the GAOs more wild than others? Nefertiti over there seems to be quite docile, but my Ponyta seems like he's going to trample me at any moment."
  9. Jory looked around, still holding Nefertiti securely in his arms. She was trembling and hid her face in Jory's chest. "Shh... It's okay, Nef. You're safe." He pet the creature gently, and its quivering began to slow down. He then looked up at Surge. "Honestly, sir, I couldn't tell you what happened if I tried. One moment I was getting to know my partners, and the next thing I knew all of these folks were fighting. Scared the hell out of Nefertiti here," he said quietly.
  10. Jory rolled his eyes as Clint challenged Oak to a battle. This guy's pets are gonna get slaughtered... Might as well see what my capsules have inside them. How do I... Oh! he thought to himself as he figured out that yes, the big button did actually work. He pressed it on the ball labeled "N". A flash of light emanated from the ball, then a small, rabbit-like creature appeared in front of Jory. The creature looked innocently up at Jory, wiggling its nose. "That's uh... Not what I expected. Although that's not a bad thing, by any stretch." Jory smiled and reached down, stroking the top of the quivering beast's head. "So you're what they call a Nidoran, huh? That's not such a great name." Jory looked back at the capsule, noting that it indicated this Nidoran was a female. "So you're a girl?" Jory scooped up the Nidoran in his arms and cradled it. "I'll name you Nefertiti, after the most famous female Egyptian pharaoh. It's our job to get you to live up to that name!" The Nidoran yipped enthusiastically, nuzzling Jory's neck. "Let's meet your friend here, huh? What's his name... Ponyta?" He pressed the button on his other ball. Another flash of white light appeared. A four-foot tall pony came out of the ball. That might have been completely fine with Jory, if half the goddamn thing hadn't been on fire. "Woah! What the hell?" he exclaimed, stepping back and wrapping his arms protectively around Nefertiti. The Nidoran poked her head out of Jory's arms, intrigued by the new arrival. The Ponyta snorted, looking Jory up and down before whinnying and rearing on his hind legs. "Easy, boy, easy!" Jory shouted, tapping the Nidoran on the nose with her capsule to return her. He tentatively reached out to the Ponyta, who tilted his head down and allowed Jory to stroke his muzzle while carefully watching the human. The equine shuffled uncomfortably on his hooves, his flamings growing slightly hotter. "Huh... so you're actually on fire?" He made a mental note not to touch the flaming mane. "I guess you'll be Sampson, then. You're a bit big for a pony." Jory chuckled as the Ponyta's eyes narrowed, then yelped and dove out of the way as Sampson released a gout of hot air that singed the grass where Jory had been standing. "Another mental note: Don't make fun of Sampson." The Ponyta's eyes glinted and he whinnied happily. "Yeah, yeah. You're not that funny, buddy. Get back inside," the human said with irritation as he clicked the button on Sampson's ball. He then clicked the button on Nefertiti's ball and scooped her up, holding her as he turned his attention to Clint and Oak.
  11. Jory just stood there speechless for a moment before gathering his thoughts. That... What...? He trembled lightly as he realized just how gritty this job was going to be. "Professor... What just happened? Why did one of them explode?" He looked down at the capsules he was holding. "Ponyta and Nidoran Female?" Huh... I wonder why they didn't list Ponyta's gender...
  12. If this doesn't work with the story, that's cool and I can edit the post. I just thought we could do with some posting and I thought this might pique some people's interest.
  13. Roland crept quietly along the edge of the trail, signaling for Megaira to follow him. As they had gone further on the trail, the disturbances in the soil had become more frequent. Clearly the wyrm had been here for quite a bit. He stopped moving, signaling for Megaira to do the same, as a rumble approached them and passed again. "The wyrm is on the hunt. Best not to go any further along this trail. We shall have to skirt around it. It should not take more than a few extra hours, though." He began to walk back from where they had come. "It will be safer further out from the trail. That is probably why we did not see any tracks earlier. Others knew not to risk the trail." He stopped moving again as the rumble sounded again, closer this time. Oh, for the love of Aer, no. "Megaira, not to alarm you, but we are being circled. Do not make any sudden movements. Wyrms cannot see, but they can feel vibrations in the soil as bats can the air. We must continue back to the group and warn them." He continued along the trail, crouched but moving quite agilely. The rumbling got louder. "Megaira, can you conjure a shield of any sort? What the-" Roland was cut off by a very loud rumbling and a slightly muffled roar, followed by the wyrm breaking the surface in a vertical breach between Roland and the necromancer. The force threw Roland to the ground, but he was able to roll backward and end up standing. "Megaira, run!" he shouted, drawing his bow and firing at the wyrm. The beast was roughly 6 and a half meters tall and covered in mud-colored armored scaling. It had no limbs, but its maw was divided into four sections. These sections were armored on the outside and bristling with dagger-like teeth on the inside. Roland's arrow stuck in one of the exposed areas on the inside of one of the mouth-sections, eliciting an infuriated roar from the wyrm. "Go warn the group! I shall slow him down!"
  14. Sunlight. I photosynthesize so that I don't even have to stop playing to eat.
  15. Character Name: Drug'thok Grunara (goes by Dru). Race: Half-Orc Class: Sorcerer (Invoker) Way of Casting Spells: Traditional Appearance and Age: 5'9", dense with muscle. Appears 29. Black of hair. Earthy brown eyes. Favors earthen tones and traveling cloaks, along with some form of robe. Personality Overview: Generally reserved. Seems to be of above-average intelligence, but his quiet demeanor makes it difficult to tell most of the time. Prone to wandering off on his own when lost in thought. Backstory: Drug'thok's mother and father were the long-told story of forbidden love. Girl is a human, father is a Grey Orc sorcerer. The two meet and it seems that the two will never be together. Father leaves his people to be with girl. Girl gets pregnant. They get married. They have another child; a daughter. One day, the father says he needs to leave. Never comes back. Family hopes. Family accepts. Family mourns. But not the son. He knows his father is out there somewhere. Some say that's the reason he wanders in the first place. Others say he's part of some secret society. Still, all agree that he appears in several local myths among humans and that he is from- or at least spent a significant amount of time living on his own in- the Shattered Hills. They call him the Earth-Shaker and the Stone-Caller. But his friends call him Dru.
  16. I think I'll go without a Normal type. Sampson (Ponyta, M)- is it okay if he is a particularly large Ponyta? There are some pretty huge horses in America. Nefertiti (Nidoran, F)
  17. Jory's jaw had dropped back down when Ray released the creature from its... ball? Why a ball...? Jory thought to himself, then quickly focused back on the topic at hand. He looked around at the other recruits' faces, then turned to Erick, surprise still evident on Jory's face. "You could say that a thousand times and it would still be the understatement of ever. We're going to become cryptid trainers!" ((Cryptid- a creature believed by most to be extinct or non-existant))
