Poke-people: Chapter 2: Your first Exam

"Anyway, could you help me out on the second portion? I need another person to set up the illusions since Em's not around again. I dunno where she goes, but she keeps disappearing every now and then. Responsibility ditcher.." Sonny stifled a chuckle, Alina's anger seeming more comical than anything else at this point. "Of course I can. Not like I have much else to do today, anyhow." Rayleigh finally appeared at Sonny's side, giving a nod of acknowledgement to Giwira. The scout stroked his partner's back. "You should go with Giwira. We haven't eaten all day." Rayleigh bowed his head in agreement. He then turned back to Alina. "What sort of illusions do you need me to make? Is it going to be big and scary?" Sonny laughed inwardly at the idea of taking Sarcus by surprise with a gigantic Ariados. -

Poke-people: Chapter 2: Your first Exam

Sonny pondered the scores for a moment. Not bad, kids. Not bad at all. Some of them are going to be quite strong when they get older. He grinned. It was always a happy day for Sonny when the recruits got tested. It showed him that there was still hope for this place after all. However, inevitably Sonny's eyes wandered down to the battlefield. Alina was still there, seemingly taking care of some administrative business before she left. "Wow... How is she so beautiful, even filling out paperwork?" the man murmured to himself. He turned to Rayleigh. The Sawsbuck's antlers were covered in red foliage. The Pokemon looked at Sonny and nudged him. The scout looked to his side. "Rayleigh, what do you want from me this time?" The Sawsbuck looked toward Alina and then walked behind Sonny, nudging him forward. Sonny smiled. "You want me to go talk to her?" Rayleigh nodded his approval. "Alright, fine. Twist my arm a little more," he said jokingly as he vaulted the low wall onto the field, landing adroitly. He approached the judge's podium and cleared his throat. "Those battles weren't half bad. What do you think of the new crop, Alina?" he asked casually. He looked back to Rayleigh, who had also vaulted the fence but was striding regally across the battlefield. -

Lux nodded sincerely at Cedric Sterling after the man pointed out somewhat incredulously that the younger man's powers reacted to his emotions. A confused look began to come over Lucius's face. "Wait... Don't everyone's powers react to their emotions? I thought that was just something that occurred normally," he elaborated calmly. "Does that mean there's something wrong with me, Mr. Sterling? Doesn't your own ability, whatever that may be, react to the chemical changes in your body caused by emotions?" He paused, reflecting back on what Sterling had said. He's no monster. He just has his own goals, and he seems to be willing to at least allow me the freedom to pursue my own. And his surprise at my ability's reaction to my emotions indicates that his interest in learning about our abilities is genuine, not calculating. The youth grimaced, his mind finally focusing on the question posed to him by the enigmatic man behind the desk. He paced for a moment, collecting his thoughts, then turned back to Cedric Sterling. "You asked me how I'll react to becoming a criminal if the government comes after me, right?" He reached into the back pocket of his jeans and pulled out a laminated Polaroid. It was a family of four people: a teenager, a young man in his early 20s, and a man and a woman who were obviously the parents of the two. Lux pointed to the teenager. Upon closer examination, it was clear that this was Lucius Jett, although with plain brown hair and brown eyes. The rest of the family shared these traits. "As I'm sure you've guessed by now, this was taken before the Pillar arose." He pointed to the other young man. "My brother. You know, when the Pillar came up, Marcus and I were both convinced it was aliens. A week later, he was gone without a trace. Left his cell phone on the kitchen counter. Didn't bring his computer. He went off the grid." Lux looked fondly at the picture, picking it back up and returning it to the pocket. "I think he gained some kind of ability. Something that made him scared enough to run off. For all I know, he's been rounded up by the government and brought in. When we were little, my dad always told me that when the world came crashing down, the only person I should worry about was him." Lux sighed heavily. "I'm not a criminal, Mr. Sterling. It's not illegal to have these abilities. Similarly, it's not illegal for the government to apprehend people they feel threaten national security. We are operating in an unprecedented legal gray area because laws are meant to govern the common man. But what happens when man becomes... uncommon?" Lux began to pace again. "You see, there is no law against non-lethally harming others in self-defense. Seeing as I don't even touch people to take them out, one could go so far as to say that the legal definition of assault does not apply to me. What I do is no different from shining a flashlight in someone's eyes. So I guess my answer is this: I'm not a criminal and I don't plan on becoming one. Even if I'm 'wanted,' it will not be for hurting people or taking them from their families." Lux took a deep breath. Wow, that was a mouthful, he thought to himself. "And one more thing: I will find my brother. I'm just like you, Cedric. I want answers." -

Lux smiled and nodded, finding it a bit curious (although entirely expected) that this Sterling character knew his name. The man seemed to be genuinely driven to find the pillar, unlike some of the other Awakened that Lux had met who wanted nothing to do with the whole thing and simply wanted to be left alone. "I feel like we were all given these powers for a unique purpose, and it is our fate to decide what that purpose will be. Don't you agree?" The youth's smile turned into a frown. Isn't that a little selfish? he thought to himself. He decided to speak up. "With all due respect, I believe these powers are meant for greater things. So I suppose that my unique purpose isn't unique at all; I want to be a superhero. I want to use my power to help protect those who cannot protect themselves," he said passionately, his orange eyes flaring as he felt the sunlight energizing him through the window. "I understand that you want to unravel the enigma of the Pillar, but I will not do it at the cost of innocent lives," he continued, still feeling himself energizing through the window. He looked down. His palms were glowing a soft yellow. He closed his eyes and concentrated, then looked back down at his hands. No more glow. -

Dru sighed as he drank in the aromatic tea that Brass had prepared for the two of them. He marveled in its gentle scent, both airy and distinct. "I am impressed, Brass. You had not stricken me as a connoisseur of teas." He chuckled to himself. "It should not have surprised me. In each of my travels I have met someone who has introduced me to a new tea. I would be honored to share in this again."I do not like to generalize, but I would like to know more about your people," Dru said, sincerity evident in his gaze. "The exchange of culture is a forgotten art." -

Lux grinned as the man behind the desk began speaking. Even if he didn't entirely trust how friendly the man seemed, the youth felt compelled to listen. He's a natural leader. He doesn't need people to listen to him. He's an inspirational speaker. Lux patiently heard everything the boss had to say, he began rattling off the two questions that seemed most urgent. His voice was even as he spoke, giving little away. "Indeed I do. First off, I would like to know what I should call you. And I'd also like to know why you're so interested in finding the pillar." Lucius crossed his arms, waiting for a reply. -
Nope. That should be fine pending approval from Grass.

Jory's mouth hung open. "We.... We won...? OH MY GOD, NEFFI, WE WON!" Jory shouted, running onto the battlefield. He wrapped his newly evolved GAO in a big hug and lifted her off the ground, scratching her behind the ear. "Neffi, that was so cool! That double kick thingy! Did you learn that from watching Dominance?" Nefertiti nodded, smiling and wagging her tail at Jory. She yipped and then yawned, closing her eyes. Jory continued petting her head, then turned to General McCarthy. "Permission to be excused and take my GAO to rest, sir?"
-
Jory cheered Neffi on as she KO'd the opposing GAO. However, his excitement was quickly replaced by concern as he watched Nefertiti get picked up and thrown by the powerful Twister attack. His concern turned into worry as he saw that Neffi was pretty banged up from being thrown across the battlefield. "Neffi, I know you're tired, but we can't give up! You can do this, I believe in you!" Nefertiti turned and looked at her trainer. Over the past months, he had cared for her and fought alongside her. He had made sure she got extra treats at dinner, even if it meant he didn't have any. He had helped her grow bigger and stronger. Neffi stood on shaky legs. Suddenly, she began to glow a bright white. Jory gaped. That bright white light signaled the metamorphosis that many of his comrades' GAOs had gone through over the six-month training period. Jory smiled widely. They still had a chance to win! The light grew brighter and Neffi's silhouette began to change. It nearly doubled in size by the time it stopped growing. Its upper body grew longer and its front legs developed elbows, growing longer as Nefertiti began to stand lightly on her hind legs. Finally, the light dimmed. Its skin had turned more leathery-looking and appeared much tougher than before. It had changed color as well, from a light lavender to a robin's egg blue. Its ears had become more pronounced, and sharp, doglike teeth had replaced her previously rodentlike ones. Jory gaped. He had no idea what this new GAO was called, but he was hoping it still answered to Neffi. She turned to Jory and let out a cry that was much louder than her previous yipping. She appeared revitalized, although her injuries from being thrown were still apparent. She looked at her trainer expectantly. Jory grinned. "Neffi, use Tackle on that Horsea!" Nefertiti charged toward the opposing GAO, but instead of throwing her body at her opponent, she appeared to have mimicked Dominance's kicking technique, as her hind legs glowed a soft white as she fired two fast kicks at her opponent. ________________ Moves used: Nefertiti (evolved into Nidorina)- Double Kick

Graterras Chapter 2: A Second Chance [IC]

Dru held up a hand, a smile lighting on his face. "Say no more, friend. Those who see the elements as tools will never be able to harness their true power or understand the true beauty of the world they live in." Brass's hand grasped Dru's shoulder. The half-Orc nodded at Brass's suggestion that they go and have some tea. "Ah, I happen to have brought my own herbal blend. Perhaps we should exchange recipes?" he said solemnly, attempting to downplay the dire situation that they had all found themselves in. "Before battle, I find it is important to commune with the earth so she knows that I will need to borrow some of her power. Tomorrow I will show you the meditation practices that I learned during my time in the Shattered Hills." He reached into his bag, then pulled out a small pendant and handed it to Brass. It was, fittingly enough, a hammered brass amulet with a picture of a lone, snow-capped mountain done in bas-relief. "Made by the dwarves. I do not wear trinkets such as these, but I have kept it for an occasion such as this. Meeting a 'kindred spirit,' as you put it." Dru smiled. "And tomorrow you shall see why I am known in the Shattered Hills as the Earth-Shaker." -
Jory shook his head as he watched both of his opponent's Pokemon target Sampson. First the bubbles made contact, then Vicious's fangs dug into Sampson's side. "Neffi, don't let this opportunity go to waste! Finish off that Shinx with your strongest Tackle attack!" The wet horse was electrocuted and fell to the ground, still breathing but clearly unconscious. Moments later, Neffi arrived near Sampson, flinging herself bodily at the Shinx that was still biting the equine GAO. "Sampson, return!" he said sadly, bringing his ball up and clicking the button to return Sampson. A red light appeared around the Ponyta and he disappeared, Neffi still flying toward Vicious with a powerful Tackle.
-
Jory grinned. "Perfect, Neffi! Now while his head is in there, jump out under his body and attack him!" The Nidoran burrowed her way back upward toward the surface, emerging just under the Shinx and leaping out of the ground toward him with a lot of momentum. "Sampson, use your Embers to turn that twister against Horsea!" The Ponyta complied, shooting a barrage of the hot sparks into the cyclone. The oxygen from the rotating air began to fan the embers and soon there was a full-fledged fire going on inside the Horsea's tornado. Sampson whinnied again, the flame cyclone seeming to make his mane grow longer and hotter. However, the wind continued to batter at the horse, eventually picking him up and tossing him to the side. Sampson got up, but was clearly not going to last much longer. "Use a Tackle attack! At least weaken that Horsea before you go down!" The stallion complied, charging headlong back into the inferno at the small aquatic GAO. _________________ Moves used: Sampson- Ember (created Fire Spin) Nefertiti- Dig (2nd turn)

Drug'thok- Wall Team The half-Orc nodded at Brass's suggestion, following the Victonari to his tent. Along the way, he was lost in deep thought. Why was this Victonari being hostile toward him? Was it the usual anti-Orcish sentiment, or something deeper? For some reason, Dru doubted that someone of Brass's... status.... would be so eager to judge a man based purely upon his appearance. The sorcerer decided to abandon that train of thought. He reached out to the earth around him. It seemed to be waiting for the coming conflict, its usual sounds replaced by an ominous silence. He looked toward Brass. "Do you feel it too, Brass?" He assumed the Victonari knew what he meant, as he'd displayed an affinity for the earth at the bridge. -
Zweilous shouldn't get fury swipes. Its heads would be too heavy for it to support itself on only its hind legs, especially considering its blindness. Also, you should consider typing and the literal Japanese translations when finding these relations. Petal Blizzard isn't an actual blizzard, it's just a bunch of petals being whirled around another Pokemon. Froslass has no affiliation whatsoever with flowers, so why would that make sense? Iirc Chansey can actually learn the elemental punches and Abra can learn Focus Punch, but Horn Leech is meant for Grass-types with actual horns. It seems to be a specific biological function.

Would anyone be interested in a Fairy Tail RP?
Jory replied to grasssnake485's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
I'd be interested (most likely), but first I'll need to catch up. I'm about to start the manga where I left off in the anime because I don't have time for that shit. -

Lux nodded thoughtfully. They don't seem to share my ideas, but knowing what caused me to develop these abilities could end up being the difference between life and death some day. The youth stood up and paced for a bit longer, pondering his options. He did not believe the man in blue would harm him if he refused. However, they'd been up on the roof for some time and Lux didn't want to be anywhere near the police when the sun set. He looked toward the man, then approached him once more. "I can't promise that I'll stay, but I'm willing to meet with your leader and find out more about your organization." He grinned lightly. "It's been awhile since I've had friends to look after me. By the way, you never told me your name." -
Jory watched in horror as the water-based attack struck true, causing Sampson to rear on his hind legs and cry out in pain. The horse's breathing was becoming labored. There's no way he can take another hit like that, Jory thought to himself. "Sampson, get out of there! Gallop in circles around that Horsea, then use Tackle when it lets its guard down." He then addressed Nefertiti. "Get out of there, Neffi!" he shouted. "Dig under the ground like we've been practicing!" The rabbit-like creature obeyed, digging unnaturally quickly into the ground and disappearing below the surface. ______________ Moves used: Sampson (35%)- Tackle Nefertiti (100%)- Dig (turn 1)

Jory gasped as he realized that he'd completely forgotten this was a double battle. "Alright, Neffi, get in there quick! Fire some of those poisonous stingers at that Shinx before it can hit Sampson!" The small, rodent-like GAO yipped and jumped into the ring, firing a string of purple spines in the feline's path, attempting to prevent it from reaching Sampson. Jory pointed at the small seahorse. "Sampson, use your Flame Wheel on that Horsea!" The fiery steed attempted to comply, but charged wide to the right of the Horsea.

Roland nodded at Nash's suggestions. He quickly turned to the rest of the group. "I will be going to the inn for the evening, if any of you care to join me." With that, Roland turned and strode toward Roasted Boar. He approached the innkeeper, a gruff-looking man who seemed to be wiping down a clean tankard with a rather dirty looking rag. He frowned slightly, then recovered. "Excuse me, but are there any rooms available for the night?" Roland reached to his waist and unhooked a small bag of coins, lifting it above the bar and jingling the coins inside. The innkeeper smiled and filled the now-dirty tankard with ale, handing it to Roland. "Aye, and ya get a free ale with a room tonight!" the innkeeper said with false enthusiasm. He grumbled something about trying to get people to come back, grabbing Roland's coinpurse and taking out five silver coins before slamming it on the counter and stalking off into the kitchen. Roland opened his mouth to say something, then closed it, dismissing the innkeeper as absolutely mental. He looked at the number on the key for his room. Room Four, he thought to himself. He walked into the hall on the wall opposite the entrance and walked to the fourth door on the left. The ranger put the key in the hole and turned it, entering the room. There was one large bed and a footlocker in the room. Roland sighed in contentment and closed the door-accidentally leaving it unlocked-, taking off his armor and boots. He then collapsed into the bed and fell asleep. OOC: -

The youth stood still. This man, this... stranger... had invited him to join a group that were clearly working away from, or even against, the government. But without any sort of regulation, a group of that sort might get a little greedy. Lux turned and walked to the edge of the roof, looking down at the people below him. "You know, ever since I changed, I haven't been able to stop thinking about superheroes. Like Spider-Man or Captain America, you know? And what they did with their gifts. They gave of themselves in order to better the lives of others." Lux turned to the mysterious man. "I think that it doesn't matter how we got these abilities. Photokinesis, teleportation, it's all the same crap at the end of the day. But we've been given an opportunity to really help people. If I join you, I want to know that at the end of the day, we're here for the little people down there. It's funny that you took us to this rooftop, because it's a perfect metaphor for what some Awakened will believe. That we're some kind of next evolutionary step. That we have ascended as gods above the rest of our species." Lux strode over to the man in the chair and looked him directly in the eyes. "I need to know whether or not your organization has humanity's best interests at heart, or its own." -
I like this idea. It'd make it way more interesting to see our favorites in battle if they were able to do things just a bit better. Rayleigh would wreck EVERYTHING EDIT: Also, can we finish the battles soon? I haven't exactly gotten to do much yet >>

The young man simply glared at the tall, thin man for a moment before speaking again, his voice taking on a more serious tone. "Since you knew where to find me, I'll bet you know my name and what I can do. You know those cops were closer to a toy than a threat for me. Even with your power, you would have a hard time fighting against someone like me. After all, what good is teleportation if you can't see where you're going?" Lux began to pace, working out his situation. "You brought me to a rooftop." He stopped and looked at the warming, energizing sun. "If you had any desire to kill or capture me, you would have taken me to a darker place. Somewhere my powers wouldn't let me slice you in half like a knife through hot butter." He turned back toward the strange man. "And besides that, you didn't answer my original question. So I'll rephrase for you: What is your name and what is your offer?"
