  1. rustytengo, could you post that Beverly gets to the extraction point? Either that or let us bunny her since we haven't heard from you in a number of weeks.
  2. Jacob gasped as he saw Evan passed out against the rock. He immediately took out Spitfyre's Poke Ball and released his Charmander, preparing for a fight. "Be ready, Spits," he cautioned. The flame lizard nodded as Jacob began to step forward. His Charmander followed suit. Eventually Jacob broke into a light jog and made it across the road, approaching the Trainer and the Skarmory. "Easy does it, Skarmory. We're just here to help Evan," he said gently. "But if you don't let us through we'll have to battle you." He made it to Evan without incident and looked his classmate over. Shit, he's bleeding from the head! he thought to himself as he examined the bruises on Evan's face. Looks like he lost a fight. He wasn't alone out here. "ALASTAIR!" Jacob shouted. "He's bleeding a lot! We need to get him medical attention, now!" the young Trainer said, taking off his shirt. He steadied one end with his teeth and ripped it in half, then tore the sleeves off of it. He applied them as a pad to the head wound, then used the rest of the shirt to bind it.
  3. "Carissa, behind me!" Jory shouted, stepping in front of the girl. "Shredder, Swords Dance now! Then follow it up with a Fire Punch!" The Zangoose nodded, then began to focus deeply. He began to enter a trance, swinging his claws as he stepped through various forms. Suddenly, the Icy Wind began to hit. Shredder managed to stay upright, finishing his dance and letting out an enraged roar. "Now, GO!" Jory roared. His Zangoose began to rapidly close on the Abomasnow, his claws enveloped in balls of fire as he swung at the snowy beast.
  4. Jory looked back at Carissa, concern evident on his face. "I don't know, but there are only three species of Pokemon native to this climate that could make that kind of sound. Personally, I'm hoping it's none of them. None of them are particularly friendly, to say the least," he said. He resisted the temptation to hug Carissa to warm her, staying on guard in case of attack.
  5. Jacob nodded resolutely, scooping up his Togepi and looking Alastair in the eye. "I told you that I want to help, so that's what I'm going to do. My team and I will do whatever we can to get Evan home safely!" he exclaimed. Realizing he'd been a bit loud, his face turned quite red. "Sorry about that. But yeah, I'm going with you. If Team Rocket's involved then Evan'll need all the help he can get!"
  6. The wind's picking up. Must be the snowstorm starting to blow in, he figured. Jory noticed how stiff he was acting and tried to relax, moving closer to Carissa for warmth. "Nothing's the matter. I'm just... It's been a long time since anyone's hugged me, is all. I can't even remember the last time that happened. It's the little things that you notice, I suppose," he said softly. Suddenly, a loud roar was heard in the woods. Jory quickly upended the can of soup into his mouth, finishing what was left of the hot liquid. "Shredder, up!" he commanded. The Zangoose mimicked his Trainer, shoveling the last of his food into his mouth before standing up in front of Carissa and Jory in a combat stance. "Everyone needs their partners out, now!" he barked. If that's what I think it is, we're in big trouble. He began to scan the treeline, looking for signs of danger. "Carissa, stay with me," he said quietly. "If anyone gets separated, they're as good as dead."
  7. Jacob looked over to where the glasses were. Better start from there, he figured, not bothering to talk to Alastair about the glasses. They by themselves wouldn't be much help, but they would be a good trail-marker. Arete toddled behind her Trainer as the young man began to search around the glasses, his path making a large spiral pattern starting at the mark that indicated where the glasses had been sitting in the dirt. Eventually, Jacob came across something odd. There seemed to be a trail of dried brown liquid. When he lifted it up on a finger and sniffed it, all he smelled was the coppery tang of blood. So he was bleeding from his fall. That should help us out, he figured. "Arete, go get Alastair. Tell him we found something." The little egg Pokemon nodded and began to move toward Alastair as fast as her legs could take her. When she reached him, she tugged at his pant leg. "Pi! Toge toge pi!" she cried out, pointing toward where Jacob was. She then toddled in Jacob's direction and then back to Alastair, pointing from the larger man to herself to indicate he should follow.
  8. Jory stood still, his cheeks flushed redder than a baboon's ass as Carissa threw her arms around him and moaned into his ear. He was left like a statue in the middle of the makeshift camp, incredibly flustered and having no idea how to react until Carissa indicated that he should sit next to her. I... uh... um... really wasn't expecting that at all, he thought to himself as he dumbly walked over and sat down, not saying anything as he attempted to process the entire ordeal that had resulted from his pulling a simple package of chocolate chip cookies out of his pack. He sat in awkward silence for a few moments before turning to Carissa. "So... I... uh... guess you really like chocolate chip cookies, huh?"
  9. ((Sounds good. This'll be my last for the night)) Photon scanned the list, chuckling as he found his name exactly where he believed it would be. "Yep. There I am, as wanted as ever. I have to say, it's certainly an ego booster to know that the big bad feds have got it in for me. Fortunately, they'll never be able to catch me." He looked up at Anver. "You should consider an alias to hide your identity as long as we're waiting for Blue to show up."
  10. Photon nodded, offering a sardonic chuckle. "You could say that. Before I reached the Organization... Or rather, before they reached me I was on the run for nearly a year. Learned a lot about myself in that time. Like what it takes to survive on your own when you have powers like mine. Learned how to run through a city in ways that cops can't. Learned how to hide in plain sight. And being so young gives me a natural disguise. No one wants to believe I'm dangerous, so I let them believe what they want. But yes, the government and I have had some problems. I'm sure if you knew my name, you'd find me on that list as well."
  11. Photon chuckled. "An alliance? No, no. Our goals run opposite the government's. You know, real freedom of information and actually explaining to people what's happening to them rather than keeping all knowledge of the Pillar and their plans for it to themselves." He paused again in thought. "I believe the Olympus members are at least as powerful as you or myself. After all, there must be a reason Utopia picked you for a mission as dangerous as the Bartender. So it stands to reason that I don't want to walk into a fight I might not win. But, on the other hand, the Olympus members will act as our first line of defense. As far as they're concerned, we're ordinary partygoers and citizens of the United States. Therefore, it's their job to protect us."
  12. Jory accepted the cookies gratefully, taking 6 out of the package and handing them to Adam. "Like I said, all are welcome to them." He then took 4 for himself and Shredder, handing the pack to Carissa. "Here. Take as many as you want, then hand them off to Seth. He seems to be doing a good job of distributing the food."
  13. "You'll know Blue when you see him. He... uh... Well, like I said, you'll know when he shows up. Bev, my partner, is a woman about my age. Very small, but if you harm a hair on her head I'll be sure to gut you first," he said calmly. "She's been through some shit. Hasn't even told me about it yet, but we stick together in the Organization. And you've already met the Bartender, so that's everyone." He shook his head at Anver's suggestion about the blackout's culprit. "I'm kinda pissed they took out the lights. Seems almost like someone knew I'd be here. But nonetheless, we're not going to engage if we don't have to. And with three members of Olympus around, I doubt we'll need to."
  14. Photon nodded slowly, his suspicions dispelled by the man's forthrightness. "Fine. You can call me Photon until we get back to base. It's not safe to reveal our identities out here. Personally, I think that's what got your family in trouble. But that's not our concern right now." The young man willed a ball of light into being and put his hand to his chest, illuminating the better part of the hallway. The ball of light stayed there, as if attracted to his very being. "I'm a photokinetic. I can control light, but I need a source. Right now I'm running on high thanks to the high-powered lights back at base, but using my abilities frequently inhibits my ability to perform in battle. So every expenditure counts, as it were." He left the door open a crack so they'd be able to hear people coming. "We're just waiting on our extraction now. There's another op similar to this one going on somewhere else, so our resources are a little tied up at the moment. For now, we're on our own."
  15. Lux looked the man up and down. "As long as I don't know your name, you'll know nothing more of my abilities," he said curtly.
  16. Jacob chuckled. "It's quite alright. I was actually really worried about Arete during our first battle as well. It's only natural to want to protect a baby like her." He looked over at his Togepi thoughtfully. "I'm really pleased with how close I've gotten with her, though. She sticks on me like white on rice." He then remembered their reason for being there. "Right! Sorry, let's get back to searching." Jacob spread out from Claude, searching for more clues as to where Evan might have gone.
  17. Lux looked around, a bit surprised at the sudden darkness. He opened the door and peered outside, not entirely sure what to expect. He was met by complete and utter silence accompanied by complete and utter darkness. "Bartender!" he shouted. "I think we have a problem out here! All the lights are dead!"
  18. Jory watched as Carissa confronted Adam about the cookies, deciding to sit this one out. She's certainly a fiery one, though. Especially with as placid a partner as most Milotics tend to be, he thought to himself, smiling as he observed the cookie argument. He gratefully took a can of soup from Seth and pulled his own spoon from his jacket, sitting on a stump nearby. He made sure he left enough room for Carissa to sit with him as he began to tuck into his food, knowing that his hunger was the true priority. Shredder approached his Trainer, his orange-tipped ear and markings the only indicator that he was even there in the thick blanket of snow. His Trainer took specially prepared food out of his pack, putting it on a dish and handing it to the Zangoose. Shredder curled up near the stump, placing his food in front of his face and occasionally scooping a bit more into his mouth. Eventually Jory decided to step in on the cookie situation. "Adam, you need to control Lockhart out of battle. I got those cookies for the whole team. He's welcome to a few, but he needs to share."
  19. I find it somewhat ironic that you were so pissed about Lockhart being "bunnied" by accepting the food, and yet you didn't give Jory a chance to react to Lockhart's theft attempt...
  20. Jacob looked at Claude and shrugged. "She managed to fight off a Skrelp all on her own earlier. Plus, she could use a bit of training. And even if she can't, I can always recall her and send in one of my heavy hitters. Arete has more than just adorableness to work with. She has the heart of a fighter, and on top of that she seems really attached to me already." He smiled at Claude and laughed lightly. "Don't worry, Claude. You've seen me battle before. I know what I'm doing as far as that's concerned. And if we do run into that Skarmory, I have Spitfyre here to help us out," he said calmly, showing Claude the newly Capsuled Poke Ball. "I think you'll be impressed by how strong this guy is." He looked over to Arete and then back at Claude, speaking in a hushed tone. "I think Spitfyre is going to be the strongest Pokemon I ever catch. Teo is my best friend, but this Charmander... I'm telling you, I've never seen anything like it. It's not just that he wants to win. He wants to be the best and nothing's going to stop him. So I'm going to help him do just that," he finished proudly.
  21. Jory laughed as the girl's stomach gave a very unladylike growl. Then, he looked down at Carissa, startled by how close their faces were. He looked into her eyes for a moment, his cheeks turning a shade of red to rival Carissa's. Why do I feel like this girl is so damned special? I met her... What, a few hours ago? And suddenly it feels like it's been an eternity. Then, quite flustered, he turned away. He looked toward the food, his stomach wambling once more. "Yeah. Let's grab something to eat. We need to keep up our energy in this cold." He began to walk over to the food, beckoning to Carissa to follow. For a moment he forgot her as the smell of hot soup filled his nostrils. "Hey, guys, any chance there's some soup left for us?" he asked, a smile on his face. He reached into his bag and pulled out a small container of chocolate-chip cookies. "I found these in the Conclave that my team and I took in Eterna. I was saving them for a time like this."
  22. Jory turned a deep shade of red as Carissa nestled herself closer to him, but kept his arm wrapped around her nonetheless. It's been so long since I've even touched another person save for a handshake or combat, he realized as he leaned his head on Carissa's. This was what he was talking about. Enjoying the little things. The Trainer looked over to where everyone else was eating hot soup and his stomach growled. He looked guiltily at Carissa, his stomach growling once more. I haven't eaten for quite a bit. Some food would do me good. "Hey, Carissa," he said quietly. "We should probably eat something."
  23. Jacob sighed as they approached the area and Alastair muttered "Skarmory." Where could he have gone? he wondered. Still, it's so cool to see a Dragonite in person! he thought to himself. He kept looking around, beginning to search the area for clues. Arete toddled around behind her Trainer, searching for things lower to the ground.
  24. Jory chuckled to himself, appreciative of the sympathy but having received more than his fair share in his lifetime. "From everything you've heard, does it sound like my brother would have wanted me to sit here and pity myself? Or to have people who need to keep on fighting the good fight take it as a tragedy?" The Trainer shook his head, looking over to Shredder. "To value life is one thing. To obsess over it... Well, that's a different story entirely. We walk a fine line, and there's no room for us to stop moving forward just for the sake of looking back. Maybe one day. Maybe after we've toppled Dawn and restored balance to the world. But until then, we have to learn what we can from those who have fallen before us." He into Carissa's eyes, a stern expression on his face. "My brother's death has affected me in a lot of ways, but the one thing I drew from it was that we can't stop living just because the people we love are gone. We're the ones who are still here. We're the ones who can make a difference." He looked over at Shredder and smiled. "Plus, we'll always meet new people. They can't replace the ones we've lost, but they can open us to a whole new experience."
  25. Jory looked down at Carissa and couldn't help but feel closer to her as she listened to him. When he noticed her shivering, he wrapped his arm more tightly around her.. Finally, she let a single tear roll down her face and Jory frowned, his self-pity turning into empathy for the girl who had clearly lost more than he had, even before Dawn's rule became ironclad. "What do you mean by that, Carissa? And you don't have to tell me if you don't want to; I understand not wanting to talk about the past." He looked to her for an answer, even his curiosity overridden by concern.
