  1. Hearing the noises die down around him, Dru dropped his rubble dome and looked around him. "Did we win?" he asked to no one in particular, confused as to the sudden lack of gnolls and purple lizard men.
  2. Jory shook his head. "You clearly don't understand. We're not going to rush in. By getting into the city before the rest of the force, we'll be able to gather more information about the enemy before we even strike. Haven't you ever heard the saying 'Knowledge is power'?" He then looked to Carissa and back to the Acolyte, then at Adam. "You're not helping, you know. All we need is for her to give us the information, but you're so stuck on being right that you can't even let me effectively interrogate this Acolyte. So back off, jackass," he said to Adam, pointing toward the treeline.
  3. Jory walked over to the girl who he'd floored with his elbow, picking her up roughly and carrying her over to Adam and Carissa by the collar of her uniform. He then addressed Adam. "You clearly don't have a very high opinion of me, so let me explain to you how this works. We don't kill if we don't have to. That's why this girl is still alive." He then addressed the Acolyte. "Alright, here's the deal. You're going to tell us everything about your squad and the Conclave that you were a part of. Then, you're going to tell us the fastest way to Snowpoint City. After that, we're going to give you enough food and water for two days. You're going to head South to warmer weather. If we so much as hear you pissing in the snow again, Shredder over there is going to gut you and we'll leave you as a tasty treat for whatever Ursaring finds you first. Got it?" he asked harshly.
  4. Jory looked to Carissa proudly, appreciating the plan. "Yeah, okay. Make sure you leave us with the keys to the cuffs, though. I don't want to end up in another situation where I think I have it all figured out, only to end up transferred to a different guard and stuck in the cuffs." He then looked down at the leader and sighed. "Another dead. This war's had too many casualties already, although she won't be the last." Shredder was rolling around in the snow, enjoying himself after the battle. "Hey, buddy. You okay or do you need a heal?" Shredder looked up and shook his head, then continued frolicking. "Shredder and I are good. And you're welcome, by the way," he said with a cocky grin. "I guess you owe me one."
  5. "Mareek, do you have eyes?" he asked in disbelief. "Your Porygon is on the ice too!" Jacob shouted as his Lapras was hit with a powerful Discharge that hit the entire field. The Lapras stayed upright but was on her last legs (flippers?), panting heavily. However, the Trainer looked toward the Porygon. "You can't use a full-field effect attack and expect it to NOT hit your own Pokemon if you've decided to electrocute the whole dang puddle, you dolt!" He shook his head. "This is exactly what I meant. You didn't even think that through fully, did you? Or did you only think about the offensive potential of the attack?" He sighed. "Chalchi, use Freeze Dry on the Porygon." A pale mist once again emanated from Chalchi, enveloping the Porygon as well as the now-melted water around it and flash-freezing the small area once again. After the exertion of her last attack, the Lapras collapsed to the ground breathing heavily. "Chalchi, return," her Trainer said quickly. He was still shaking his head in disbelief at the utterly reckless tactics that Mareek had employed. "Alright," he said more quietly. I can't use Teo since I have to use a new partner. So I guess it's up to him. "Spitfyre, let's go!" he said as he threw the Charmander's ball onto the field. He looked in disgust at the wet ground and then back to his Trainer. "Sorry, bud, but we'll have to make do. Be ready for anything."
  6. The only issue I had with the chaos thing is that I kinda figured it was light related, but the law of conservation of mass doesn't really allow for something like that to happen. Essentially you created more mass (photons have mass) out of a thing that in theory should have only reflected it, which maintains the amount of light but just redirects it. And I know this is high fantasy so physics goes out the window but it kinda felt like I got powerplayed Also, not sure if my last post got ignored or if you're waiting on a reply for it...
  7. Shredder once again used his agility to his advantage, ducking the large Abomasnow's arm and swinging straight at its side with the intention of hurting it enough for the Abomasnow to not want to engage the pair anymore.
  8. Shredder was thrown backward by the Psychic attack, taking damage but surviving the blow easily, as he landed in the soft snow behind him. He got up and shook his fur free of snow, looking for his next enemy. Jory stood over the Acolyte, his breath clearly visible in the cold winter air. "I don't want to hurt you any more than I have to. Stay down or you won't be so lucky next time," he growled. He turned around to hear a roar and saw the Abomasnow standing over Lila. "Shredder, Quick Fire Punch!" he shouted. The Zangoose bounded toward the wild Pokemon, his flaming claws melting the snow as he zipped toward the Pokemon's side on all fours. He leapt high into the air and swung his claw at the Abomasnow, hopefully in time to save Lila from the devastating attack. His Trainer, on the other hand, ran toward the Carissa's Acolyte from the side and threw a hard kick at her knee, hoping to bring the woman down non-lethally.
  9. Dru groaned as he saw the multiplied bolts coming for him. Are you frickin' kidding me? he thought to himself, despairing as he saw Blue go down. He then looked up at the Victonari, pissed as all hell. He made a grand gesture with his hands, veins popping out of his neck as he pulled a piece of earth the size of a hut out of the ground and hurled it toward the Victonari's branch. He then quickly crossed his arms over his chest and knelt, pounding the ground with both fists at his side to complete the magical gesture. A dome of rock that could barely fit the half-Orc inside it covered him. Chaos Bullets my ass. He's gotta be drained after that spell.
  10. The Zangoose changed direction, his Quick Attack allowing him to move with great agility in order to get around the Water Pulse. He bounded to the side allowing it to harmlessly go past him, then opted for the low route, dropping to all fours and continuing forward to swing the Thunderpunch at his foe as an uppercut. Meanwhile Jory grappled with the Acolyte near the tree and grabbed her by the jacket, pulling her into a brutal elbow strike to the face.
  11. Jacob grinned, knowing the battle was won. "What if I told you I'm not an arrogant prick like you seem to think of me, and that I was distracting you from seeing the real issue?" He then looked back to Chalchi, and in English shouted, "Freeze Dry the water you've been laying out this whole time! Once that Cubone slips, give him a Water Pulse Burst!" A pale mist emanated from the Lapras and she cried out, flash-freezing the wet-battlefield that the Cubone was attempting to run across. She then fired a Water Pulse pre-emptively along the Cubone's trajectory, readying another to be fired.
  12. I figure obsidian, since it's volcanic glass, would have some form of reflective property. In a sphere that small the obsidian might, in theory, be able to have it rebound enough times to fizzle itself out.
  13. Dru watched as Blue trapped the shot in the bubble, getting an idea of their opponent's abilities. So if it rebounds enough it will eventually fizzle out. I think I know what to do. He watched as the chaos shot lazily drifted toward him, feeling around him as best he could. With an area that's seen as much seismic activity as this, there's bound to be some somewhere... he thought to himself, searching frantically through the earth using his magic. He grinned triumphantly, then frowned a little as he realized just how far down it was. "Terra locoxe!" he shouted, stomping his foot and bringing both hands skyward from knee level. A large chunk of obsidian broke through the ground some seconds later, obscuring Dru from the shot's apparent trajectory. Now to set the trap. He began moving his hands, chanting rapidly in a low tone as he motioned similar to a child making a ball of clay. Suddenly, there was a loud grinding noise emanating from the obsidian as it began reforming into a small, incredibly dense sphere that was roughly the size of the half-Orc's head. He appeared to plug a finger into the imaginary ball in his hands and the obsidian chunk mirrored it, creating a small entry tunnel into a hollow center. The sorcerer quickly moved the sphere toward the chaos shot, attempting to catch it inside and close the sphere immediately after.
  14. Jacob grinned at Mareek's apparent anger. "Sorry to disappoint you Mareek, but it doesn't exactly take a genius to figure out your strategies. Looks like I vastly overestimated you." He then switched fluidly to ordering his Pokemon. "Chalchi, keep Confuse Ray going and then follow it up with a Water Pulse one more time!" The Lapras obeyed, her eyes continuing to glow green as the light show continued directly in front of the Cubone. Then, a blue orb shot out of the Lapras's mouth toward the Cubone. He would have to choose between closing his eyes and avoiding the attack.
  15. Dru sighed in relief as the other spirit stepped aside. Good. Now I can work, he thought as he took stock of the situation. Xavier was fighting against a purple Victonari that was using a strange form of magic Dru had never encountered before. However, it seemed to revolve around the use of some type of magical projectile in combination with a focus held in the hand. Water. Just what I didn't want to deal with after an invasive spirit. He stomped the Earth, waves of comfort coming over him as he once again felt his uninterrupted connection with his favored element. "Terra lacquoom!" he shouted, his voice heard over the din of battle for the first time since he addressed Oarloff. He stomped his right foot on the ground and brought his hands together, interlocking his fingers and tightening them against the backs of his hand. Rocks seemed to grow from the earth beneath the Victonari's feet in an attempt to encapsulate them, locking down its movement completely.
  16. Jory nodded, sighing in disappointment. "You know, if you Acolytes could actually behave like normal people it wouldn't have had to end this way. Shredder, give that Golduck a Quick Thunderpunch." The Zangoose obeyed immediately, springing toward the Golduck and swinging hard at it. Shredder's balled claw was crackling with electricity as it sped toward its target with unnatural speed, a trail of white following the Zangoose as it closed rapidly with its opponent. His Trainer put on a burst of speed and rushed the Golduck's Trainer, attempting to drive the Acolyte into the tree behind her.
  17. Jacob grinned, his excitement surpassing his dismay at the Cubone's ability to somehow hit through a type disadvantage. "This is the first time I've been challenged in awhile, Mareek. I look forward to it." Lucky for me, he's not the only one who's prepared for this moment. He smiled agian. "Luckily you're not the only bilingual person at the Academy, Mareek. If you're going to use trickery, then I'll have to follow suit." He then barked in Spanish, "Chalchi, Confuse Ray!" The Lapras's eyes glowed an eerie green color as a strange light show began directly in front of the Cubone.
  18. Jory did his best to look as though he was offended but doing his best to keep his tongue in check. "I'm sorry if my girlfriend's being happy around me bothers you," he said softly. "We just wanted to get out of the city and away from our parents for the night. Her dad doesn't really like me, so we're always glad to get away from that sort of pressure." He smiled lightly, petting his Zangoose's head. Shredder played his part admirably, purring and rolling over onto his belly in the snow. "We've lived in Snowpoint for as long as we can remember. Snowstorms aren't such a bother as long as you have someone to keep you warm," he said gently, pulling Carissa close and kissing her on the cheek.
  19. Dru gently reached out to the spirit, his heart breaking at the visions of the spirit's past. "Do not worry. I am not here to harm you. Somehow you have become trapped inside my mind. I am Drug'thok Grunara, a sorcerer from the Shattered Hills. You must do your best to remain calm. We are in the midst of a battle. Should you panic and I get killed, I do not know what will become of us. So I would ask that you do not panic. What is your name?"
  20. Jacob looked over at Mareek, his heart pounding. His team almost completely counters mine, and to top it off he's one of the best strategists in the entire class. This is going to be our toughest match yet, he thought to himself. He looked down at his belt, thinking hard about his choices. Since he's leading with his Cubone, he'll definitely be expecting me to send in Chalchi. She could finish that thing off with one or two good hits, so he obviously has a counter strategy in mind. Even if I manage to bring that down I'll have his Porygon to contend with, which knows some killer special attacks that I don't really have any answer to. And then he has that Scyther. I have no idea what to do about that. He picked Chalchi's ball off his belt, contemplating his choice. I could send in Arete, but against that Cubone she'll have a rough time of it. Eventually, Jacob sighed. I guess I don't really have a choice. He threw the Capsuled ball in the air, releasing his Lapras in a shower of snowflakes and mist. "Okay, Mareek. I guess I'll take the first move." He paused for a moment, taking a deep breath. Clear your mind. Only battling. "Chalchi, use Water Pulse Burst!" The Lapras complied, forming one blue sphere and firing it at the Cubone, then doing it again in rapid succession, this one fired on a lower trajectory.
  21. Dru struggled with the spirit in a form of mind-wrestling that was as subtle at times as it could be brutal at others. He controlled his breathing, being sure to retain focus so as not to completely lose awareness of his surroundings. Of all the times for this to happen! he thought to himself. I must rid myself of this spirit or calm it quickly. He began to clear his mind, putting his thoughts aside as he focused deeply on the Earth. After much effort, he managed to turn his head toward Odin. "Odin!" he said painfully slowly. "Spirit in head. Protect me," was all he managed to say before he had to return his full attention to controlling the rampant flow of memory and emotion from the spirit. Your family, he projected toward the spirit. Family. He recalled his own mother and father and every scrap of good feeling and love toward them that he could, praying to the Earth that it would be enough to allow the spirit to focus itself.
  22. Dru looked around him at his embattled comrades and decided he had no other choice. Here goes everything, he thought to himself. He closed his eyes and began to channel his innate magical energy, once again attempting to build a connection with the Earth so that he could use his Earth magic skills.
  23. Jacob shook his head and put his hands up defensively, suppressing a grin. "Look, Evan, I'm not here to tell you how to live your life. But I didn't go out searching for you and wrap up that ugly cut on your head so that you could come back to camp and pass out from whatever head injury it is you've got there." He sighed and leaned against the wall of the cottage, looking over at Evan. "I know you've had a rough day today. And hell, that may even go beyond getting pushed down a rock face by a herd of Donphan. I'm not going to say that I've had worse days than you because I don't know you that well. You just gotta remind yourself that it gets better. And if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here for you. Alright buddy?" Jacob asked, starting to step away. He then stopped and turned around. "One more thing, Evan. They don't want you to go the hospital to control you, or to bankrupt you if that's where your concern comes from. A fall like the one you took is nothing to take lightly, and I'm sure your family would rather have you around than not have a hospital bill." With that said, Jacob walked away in search of something to eat.
