Pokémon Academy: Ch 3: Winter Cup [IC]
Jory replied to Chim's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Jacob shook his head and chuckled lightly at the fiery redhead. "I wouldn't underestimate Henry and his Skitty. You kept underestimating Danielle during your last battle and look what happened. I'd be willing to wager that that Skitty is actually his ace. After all, from what I've heard he's been handing people their butts on a silver platter with it." He then scratched his head. "But this Bert kid is puzzling to me. I guess I need to start getting to know our classmates better."- 1255 replies

Updated roster for Jacob: After Arete, they're in no particular order. However, as Jacob acquires them they'll move up to the appropriate slot.

Pokémon Academy: Ch 3: Winter Cup [IC]
Jory replied to Chim's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Jacob put his finger to his lips, signaling his partner in crime to stay hidden and stay quiet. He nodded his head in James's direction. The boy had been audible in his instructions to his Pokemon, and a soft pink pink pink could be hard as the Ferroseed's metallic shell rolled over the floorboards. He tapped Arete lightly and, barely audibly, whispered "Again," to his Togetic. The flying Fairy poked her head out from behind the corner and let another Dazzling Gleam fly through the hall. Jacob immediately grabbed Kristen's hand and pulled her out of the alcove and along the corridor, disappearing through the next doorway and into the hall of mirrors. The Togetic followed behind the couple, giggling softly at the mischief she was causing. The young Trainer led Kristen and his Togetic out of the mirrors and the back of the Haunted House, looking behind him to make sure James hadn't followed them. "Well, that was exciting, wasn't it? Although we never did get to scare him back, at least we avoided having it happen to us. Right?" he asked quietly. As he asked the question of Kristen he began to look behind her where the large screen was quite visible. "Hmm... The matchups changed. Apparently I'm against Caleb. I heard he just arrived today, so the battle shouldn't be super difficult," he said, sounding quite disappointed. "Although I need to keep my guard up regardless."- 1255 replies

Jacob nodded, peeking his head around the corner. He saw the silhouette of someone around their age, but couldn't see who it was in the darkness. Suddenly, he got an idea. He grinned at Kristen and reached for a Ball on his belt. "Yes, I do. Cover your eyes," he said softly. He then released Arete from her ball. The Togetic floated up near her Trainer's head, looking around quizzically at the Haunted House. "Arete, use Dazzling Gleam so that we can get a good look at whoever's behind this. Ready?" he asked. The Togetic nodded. "Go!" he said quickly. The hallway lit up for a brief moment as motes of light fired out of the Togetic. Jacob made out James at the end of the hall before having to turn back into the alcove to prevent his eyes from hurting. He left Arete out of her ball, coaxing her into the alcove with them. The Togetic perched on her Trainer's shoulder and nuzzled his head, happy to see him. "It's James. I'm not sure why he decided to try scaring us, but we're going to get him good. I need you to call out your Skrelp and have it use Water Gun on the floor of the hall we just ran through."- 1255 replies

Jacob watched from the corner as the Gligar floated by on the Ominous Wind. Hmm... A Gligar? And Ominous Wind is probably from a Ghost-type like Duskull. So it's probably James trying to scare us! the young man deduced. He chuckled lightly and looked down at Kristen, smiling. "How you holding up?"- 1255 replies

Jacob began to lead Kristen down the hall quickly, pulling her around the corner and into a small alcove. The two were pressed tightly together, but they were out of view from anyone who might have been lurking behind them. "Let's see who this is, then we'll turn the tables on them," he whispered to the redhead. "That'll teach them to mess with us, right?" he said with a slight grin.- 1255 replies

{Conclave Group} Jory ran in behind Carissa, leaping over his comrade as she was floored by the Acolyte's punch and proceeding farther into the room. He launched a side kick at the first Acolyte to approach him, catching her in the chest and sending her backward into her Scrafty. He threw Shredder's ball at the girl's head, knocking her out cold and releasing his Pokemon in one fluid motion. He ran past her and scooped up the ball as Shredder delivered a Power-Up Punch to the Scrafty while it got up, flooring it once more. Two more Acolytes rushed the pair with a Simipour and a Prinplup. Jory nodded to Shredder and the Zangoose rushed the Pokemon, a white line coming from behind him as he sprang explosively toward them. Jory launched himself at the Acolyte to his left, tackling her to the ground and throwing an elbow into her face. The Acolyte's head hit the floor with a loud crack and she lay still, knocked out of the fight. The second one attempted to kick the veteran off of her comrade, but he was ready for the attack and blocked the kick. He then twisted her ankle, causing her to spin to the ground. He stood up and gave her a swift kick in the head, putting her in the same state as her partner. Then, Jory was knocked to the floor as a stray chair hit him. He looked over and saw the Noivern hitting the ground, then checked on Shredder. The Zangoose had already taken care of the Prinplup with a Crush Claw and was doing the same to the Simipour. Once the Water monkey was down, the pair ran up the stairs behind Carissa to the second floor.

Jacob blushed as Kristen kissed him on the cheek. Then, at the next part, he began to look around him, searching for anything in the dark that might be causing the hairs on the back of his neck to stand up like they were doing. "I don't know, but I get what you mean. But it seems like we're alone. In this part of the Haunted House, anyway," he said quietly, pulling Kristen closer to him as he continued to turn his head looking for an answer. "Let's get out of here soon. This place is starting to give me the creeps." Suddenly, Shade's Ominous Wind hit the couple. Jacob shivered and looked around for the source, his heartrate climbing a little. "Okay, now this is just weird. I could have sworn I felt an Ominous Wind attack."- 1255 replies

Jacob nodded in the darkness. Then, realizing he couldn't be seen, turned even redder. Here goes nothing. "Yes, I am," he said gently, speaking in a low tone so as not to be overheard. His heart was pounding as he confessed his motives to Kristen, and it seemed to Jacob that it was the loudest sound in the entire Haunted House. He finally opened his mouth again, this time with a crooked grin. "And I'm glad you finally noticed. I wasn't sure if I could get any more obvious," he continued, his hand searching for Kristen's in the dark. Finding it, he interlocked his fingers with hers and gave her hand a soft squeeze.- 1255 replies

I've got black belts in Sambo and Judo. Very similar styles, although Sambo emphasizes counters and escapes over anything else. It's a very "sit back" style unless you're an aggressive fighter. I learned Muay Thai striking from my classes, but I don't have any kind of formal rank in it. Sambo is just a really cool style in general. Used by the Spetsnaz and emphasizes economy of movement and strength rather than intimidation, although there are several techniques that are meant to appear brutal to dissuade additional attackers. It's a lot of fun and relatively easy to learn, and you don't have to be in superb shape to use it effectively.

Dru shook his head, then remembered the spirit would not be able to understand the gesture. "It is not your fault that that animal decided to create that monstrosity at the cost of your people. However, you now have a unique privilege and a duty to those who were not so lucky." He paused in thought, trying to piece together the words to make her understand her role. "Your guilt is a sign of your compassion and your good nature. It is natural to feel this way. You must use it to your advantage and forge it into something new. And I promise you that together we shall avenge the people of your village. They showed us hospitality in a land in which there is little. To answer your question: You are here to see justice done so that the souls of the lost may find peace in the Earth."

Jacob caught Kristen as she fell, ending up with his arms around her. He blushed profusely as she apologized, but made no move to right her. He simply held her against him, turning progressively redder until he managed to stammer out, "I-it's okay, Kristen." He then grinned lightly. "If anyone were going to fall on me, I'd prefer it be you," he said softly as he looked into her eyes.- 1255 replies

Dru sighed inwardly and sent his recollection of the Grave Earth to Dia, being sure to show her piece by piece so as not to alarm her with the severity of what had occurred. "I am truly sorry for what happened to you," he said to her. "No one deserves a fate like that. I believe when I made contact with the Grave Earth your spirit must have crossed the magical 'bridge' that allows me to channel the power of the Earth."

[IC] Gaelach Basm: The Starting Point
Jory replied to Kurotsune's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
As Roland moved into the room, he felt the eyes of the three leaders upon him. He was a man of relatively average height and build, but the gentleness of his eyes was contrasted sharply by his thick blond stubble and the deep scar running down the right side of his face. It had apparently healed well, being the same color as the rest of his well-tanned complexion, but was nonetheless an eye-drawing feature. He was clad in a gray cloak and brown leather armor fitted with one heavy strap across the chest and another thin one that came to join it from the opposite shoulder. As his cloak fluttered from his movements one could see the small sheath that held three throwing knives tucked against the left side of his chest, as well as the longer sheaths that contained the long knives he wore about his waist. He moved with a natural grace like that of a springtime buck as he crossed the room toward the seats. Roland nodded curtly to Iain, moving quietly to the farthest seat along the wall and claiming it as his own. He rested his longbow against the wall and sat down, silently observing the rest of the men and women in the room. -

Yeah, Roland is a stealthy marksman who doesn't use magic arrows. I like the idea that just because you can make sparkles fly from your hands doesn't mean you can avoid an arrow through the eye. -
That's why I figured pairs would be good. Keeps the whole "we're a team" mentality, but also allows room for that.

{Conclave Group} Jory glared at Drake, scrutinizing the man. He's clearly been in a fight before, but he has no idea how important it is to work as a team in these buildings. "Instead why don't we pair up and take floors? That way if one of us runs into trouble, they'll have backup there already. These Acolytes aren't going to be pulling any punches, and force of numbers is something we need to consider."

[Sign-Ups] Gaelach Basm: The starting point
Jory replied to Kurotsune's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Name : Roland Charleson Gender : Male Age : 30 Physical Appearance: 5'10", athletic build. Short, pale blond hair in a crew-cut. Full blonde stubble. Gentle light green eyes. Deep tan complexion. Fairly subdued nose and a brow that denotes wisdom beyond his years. Character Backstory: Place of birth unknown. Family ties unknown. First recorded incidence of Charleson's appearance was during his late teenage years. Garnered local fame for his role in various werewolf hunts throughout the Sigeto continent. Expertise derived from years of survivalist living and subsistence hunting. Once the Leviathan was first sighted, he was one of the first volunteers sent to combat it. The last that was heard of his group was that they had left harbor. One years later, tales of a survivor from the early days of the fight against the Eternal Eclipse began to surface in the coastal town of Pescatia, in Éire. It was said that he was a lone ranger, a man who used a bow and arrows to protect the small town from the evils that threatened it. However, there was little sign that he existed save for the vampire carcasses found close to town. Character Abilities: Superb marksman with a longbow. Crafts his own "trick" arrows including poisoned ones, explosive ones, and blunt ones. Skilled close-range combatant, but does not carry anything larger than a long knife for this purpose. Expert tactician and survivalist. His people skills, for a loner, are surprisingly good. His proper speech and dignity have lead those few who have met him since the first excursion to believe he is of noble birth. Current Belongings: Mottled gray cloak, brown leather armor (jerkin, leggings, boots, and bracers). One longbow crafted from the wood of a 200 year-old yew. Two daggers (one 20" in length, the other 12"). Three throwing knives. One quiver (can fit 32 standard arrows or 24 mixed trick and standard). Travel pack. Reason for joining: His experience with the Leviathan will be helpful to the group, in addition to his experience slaying werewolves. He was initially hesitant to return to action, but realizes the world's fate is ultimately more important than his own. -
Despite the cheery singing in the camp, Dru elected to sit outside the bounds and meditate. He began by calming his breathing, being sure to keep a slow, rhythmic pace in order to set his mind and body at ease. He then began to feel around inside his mind again, seeking out the spirit. Come out, he called. We are safe for the time being. I wish to communicate with you.

Jory looked at the other Conclave group members, sizing up his squad. There was no technical "leader," but as the only veteran of the Battle of Eterna who was present he felt he had an obligation to take on the role of such. He stepped in front and turned around, looking each one in the eye. "We're going to take this Conclave," he began, wanting to start out strong. "But we're going to do it as a team. No matter what, we all need to remember what we're fighting for." He looked wistfully into the distance, then back at the group. "We're fighting for the people we've lost. Our families, our friends, and our comrades. But more importantly, we fight for each other. We fight so that every man, woman, and child can live without fear of Dawn and her tyranny." He then looked meaningfully at Carissa, a smile crossing his face. "We're fighting so that the people we love don't have to worry about what happens to us." His gaze then hardened once more and he looked to the others. "So we're going to make sure that the people of Snowpoint get the things we're fighting for. Make no mistake: Once we get inside, the Acolytes will do everything they can to stop us from reaching the top floor and the Conclave Mother. Use non-lethal force if you can, but at the end of the day it's either us or them. And we have a ways to go before Dawn gets her comeuppance." With that said, he put his hand in the center of the group. "We're not just Team Dusk. We've all made it here one way or another. We're all teammates here no matter what differences we have. We have each others' backs, and I would die for every one of you. So who's with me?" he asked openly.

Pokémon Academy: Ch 3: Winter Cup [IC]
Jory replied to Chim's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Jacob followed Kristen to the Haunted House, grinning as they approached it. Funny how she brings me right to the place I would have gone. After all, if she gets scared I can hold her, he thought to himself as they stood in line waiting for their tickets. Eventually, they reached the front. The student giving out tickets was wearing a name tag, and on it was clearly the name "Nico." Jacob smiled broadly at the other Trainer, now able to put a face to the name. As it turned out, they'd had two classes together over the course of the term. "Hey, Nico!" he said jovially as he approached the student. "I guess we're going to be battling tomorrow!" He paused, then thought for a moment. "I'm Jacob, in case you didn't remember," he said quietly. The other student groaned and put his head in his hands. "Why'd it have to be you?" he asked the young man. "I've seen you in class before, and when I saw the name I was really hoping I made a mistake." He looked at Jacob and then at Kristen, groaning even more loudly. "Dang it!" He then realized what he must be sounding like and grinned at Jacob, putting his hands up. "Look, I don't mean to insult you. The opposite, in fact. You're a really talented Trainer and," he lowered his voice, beckoning Jacob closer. Jacob moved in as far as still holding Kristen's hand would allow and listened. Nico continued, "-a lot of people think you have a pretty good chance of winning the Cup. That's why I freaked out." He then stood up straight and put his hand out. "Good luck, though! Just because you're good doesn't mean I'll go easy on you!" Jacob nodded and grinned at the other Trainer, taking his hand and shaking it. "You too, Nico! I hope you bring your A-game! Wouldn't want to disappoint the viewers, now would we?" He then looked sideways at Kristen and smiled. "So, Nico, I'll take two tickets for the Haunted House. On me," he said to his opponent. The other boy chuckled and scanned Jacob's PokeDex, subtracting two tickets' worth of BP. "Let's go!" Jacob said excitedly, leading Kristen into the Haunted House.- 1255 replies

Jacob chuckled and led Kristen outside just in time to catch the reading of the schedule. He scratched his head at the mention of Nico, not entirely sure who the student was. "Well, I guess I'll find out who this Nico guy is and what he uses tomorrow. After all, it'll be a great opportunity for me to show what my Pokemon are capable of and hopefully get a little intimidation factor going." He then turned to Kristen and frowned. "You're up against that Raiza girl. She's a good battler, so you'd better make sure you bring your A-game!" He then took the girl's hand and began leading her toward the stalls. "Come on, Kristen. Let's go check out what some of the other students are doing!"- 1255 replies

I'm in. Spoiler alert: Roland is coming back. I'll PM you about that. -
Finally figured out Jacob's theme. Happens to be the best one in OR/AS: Wally's Theme Also, just a quick question: It's only 4 moves, right? So all those dashes I'm seeing are moves that have been taken out?
