  1. So with the server issues going down on the North American server, I seized the opportunity to check out Vel'Koz on the peebs. Based on what I've seen both through experiences of my own and through watching others, here's some takes. Here's my opinion: Early Game: 9/10 VelKoz's spammable AoE makes him a huge lane bully. His Q can dance around minion waves to strike targets while the rest of his abilities can travel through them with no damage penalty. Mid Game: 7/10 Crowd Control and burst make Vel'Koz not exactly the ideal mid-game mage but he's pretty good. His high base movement speed (for a mage) allows him to roam and apply his burst and CC both on other lanes and on wayward travellers, or kite pursuers Late Game: 5/10 Pretty weak compared to what the base damages tell you. The ultimate can hit multiple targets for a lot of damage, but doesn't travel as fast as your cursor does, which means champs with high mobility can mitigate damage; the same goes with his other spells as none are targeted and give most enemies time to react. Pros INSANE burst with enough sustained damage to complement Strong early game Will not often have mana issues Kites like a boss High base movement speed for a ranged champion Snowballs hard Cons No escapes Short autoattack range (525) Highly item-reliant He falls off late-game unless he gets fed His ultimate requires him to stay in place (although it can be cancelled) Squishy Who is he most like? In my opinion, Ziggs. Kites for days, a considerable amount of CC, some good AoE burst. What to max first? No clue, it depends on the situation. I maxed W in the couple of bot games I played; it provides wave clear and a surprising amount of damage, not to mention that's two procs of his passive for another follow up with one of his abilities. Core build Liandry's synergizes beautifully with VelKoz's high-CC kit. Rabadon's Deathcap because he doesn't deal enough damage without it. Void Staff to get the most out of your AP. Standard Build Pretty standard, nothing we haven't seen before. My build, a little more defense-oriented Weird build, but my fave. Vel'Koz is a spammer so Archangel's is a natural fit. This build is more forgiving of slight mistakes while still granting a lot of power. Sorcerer's Shoes for more burst or Ionian Boots of Lucidity, like I have, for more sustained damage and better kiting.
  2. I'm going to belatedly steal Godot's thunder... HERE COMES A NEW CHALLENGER I think we all knew this one was coming
  3. Tryndamere tried to counterjungle me - he learned his place.
  4. Tiamat's way better since Darius already has armor pen in his kit. AD and Health Regen? Yes please.
  5. The commentator on LCS just said 7000 gil instead of 7000 gold. lol

dude you gotta learn that quickshot says soooooo much stuff that comes straight out of his ass. you get used to after a while

  6. To get Lightning Returns...

  7. A build bonepicking, Zac doesn't really need Rylai's because his kit is already overloaded with CC and he's got a slow in his Stretching Strike. Liandry's Torment is way better because %health damage + Magic Penetration = OP as balls. Spirit Visage is also a godly item on him. But I spectated that game for a bit cause couldn't sleep, I don't think that was bad jungling... That feel when Riot really needs to release Heartseeker Ashe already.
  8. Zoomgarde Zygarde @ Lum Berry Trait: Aura Break EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Outrage - Earthquake - Extreme Speed - Dragon Dance Zygarde is essentially this generation's Kyurem. Nothing special in any regard, and getting the short end of the stick in the legendary trio. It isn't useless, though. Its roles are notably more defined than Kyurem, such as this offensive set. Outrage hurts, I don't need to say anymore. Earthquake is badass STAB coverage with Outrage, too bad neither touches Togekiss. Extreme Speed is for going Ricky Bobby on the other guy, and also gives the annoying little flying fairy a bruise. Dragon Dance is the final thing, being able to boost your offensive prowess further. The item choice is Lum Berry for a get out of jail free card when using Outrage.

  10. You're not alone, that's what every person who's ever played Darius more than once wants.
  11. It does, but only in the lower tiers. Straight up offense is an option but he has to overcome the obstacle of a mediocre offensive movepool; that said he does have access to a lot of nice physical moves.

  13. Chesnaught Getting Through Me Chesnaught (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Bulletproof EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk) - Synthesis / Spikes - Leech Seed - Spiky Shield - Wood Hammer / Hammer Arm Bulky as hell is a way to describe the most recent Grass starter. It can also hit back quite hard, but that's not what this set is meant to do. This set is aimed at a support-stalling thingamajig. Bulletproof is an awesome ability that gives you immunity to things like Shadow Ball and Focus Blast. Choose Synthesis or Spikes depending on whether you want Chesnaught to be more of a wall or more a dedicated supporter. Leech Seed keeps the health up. Spiky Shield is like Protect with a cool twist, damaging enemies who get their contact moves blocked. Wood Hammer and Hammer Arm are both strong moves but each has their drawbacks; you have to choose carefully between them based on your team.

  15. Meanwhile, in the land of Udyr going hard as fuck Twas a game where I was testing out a new build for Master Yi. Looks something like this: EDIT: Kamikaze. Double kill. Repeat.
  16. I can finally prove to Ame that jungle jayce does wonders
  17. In a world where Gragas gets Athene's at level 1, he beats Velkoz, otherwise he has to be very careful. Also Yasuo can only dodge so many times against an ability-spamming champion.
  18. Too bad that last I checked, VelKoz's E and ult (maybe his autos as well) go through Yasuo's wind wall. I'm also going to disagree with you on Gragas as well because one mistake and the other's probably going to die. Velkoz is also ranged, not short-ranged. I'll do some more VelKoz shenanigans tomorrow and see how he is.
  19. A very interesting patch... I've run it all down for those of you too lazy to look at the site, so here's the low down. Here goes! Champions - Reworks Xerath got an overhaul on his kit along with some new visuals and VO lines. See the notes for more details. Skarner also got a rework, but not as much of one as Xerath. Champions Ashe's Hawkshot passive gold bonus is now 3 at all ranks and the cooldown goes down with rank. Mundo get skinny cleaver. Evelynn's Hate Spike now travels faster if it's closer to the target. Fizz can no longer use Playful/Trickster to dodge targeted spells that have been sent at him. Kayle's Reckoning does less damage, but her Divine Blessing was vastly improved and Intervention no longer has a mana cost. Riven's base Health Regen got gutted, but in its place is a buff to Valor. Thresh's basic attack range has been lowered to 450. Yasuo no longer generates Flow as quickly. In addition, Last Breath got a slight range nerf. Ziggs got a little nerf, particularly to Short Fuse's damage, as well as Hexplosive Minefield's damage to minions (beyond the first mine tripped). Champions - Twisted Treeline Kha'Zix's Taste Their Fear damage was nerfed (including Evolved Enlarged Claws). Champions - Insignificant Stuff These champions received minor changes, mostly bug fixes: Ashe Akali Elise Maokai Rumble Sona Teemo Yorick Items Statikk Shiv now only crits when the associated attack crits. Cold Steel now reduces pets' attack speed as well. Summoner's Rift Turrets' damage reduction against champions now only lasts 8 minutes (as opposed to being permanent). Masteries Perseverance's effect is halved. That's all she wrote! I've played some extensive Xerath on the PBE and I can say this guy is scary as almighty fuck. This is my recommended build for him: Not necessarily in this order, but I find Archangel's Staff a better fit for Xerath because if you're going to poke, poke hard, and your CC spells aren't the ideal poking spells, thus not recommending Athene's/Liandry's. His Arcanopulse is spammable but has a high mana cost and the Archangel's Staff can mitigate this better than Mana Font. I found a lot of raw power in this build over the Athene's deal. EDIT: Added unlisted Fizz nerfs. Might be a goof that's fixed in the future but it seems intended if you ask me.

  23. Jelly pls, the only people who think amumu is OP are the people who never bother to counterjungle him early. Seriously, go Shaco/Evelynn/Lee/Udyr/anyone with decent early damage and fight him at his first clear of red. Dead yordle.
