  1. Junior is kinda outclassed in almost everything that he does by another character. That being said he still has his quirks, such as mixups and some inexplicably dumb attacks in terms of how safe they are. The reason Junior beats any top player (like Trela) is because they simply fail to respect this and the other weird shit that Junior has.
  2. Fiora shouldn't have the edge against Garen @ level 1 imo. She gets outtraded even if she Lunges on a Vital. The only way Fiora would win a level 1 trade is if Garen is the blatant aggressor and Fiora pops Corrupting Potion (which she'd need to do beforehand). Otherwise Decisive Strike keeps Fiora in line even into late-game unless Garen is forced into a 1v1 situation. The rest of the lane is purely reaction and not being dumb with Riposte. Taking Ignite was a smart idea because fuck hydra and fuck her passive EDIT: It's been a while since I've seen Infinity Edge on Garen, I gotta thank you for re-enlightening me
  3. Sounds like another day at the office for Infiltration.

Smash 3DS is a perfect game

  8. The brackets have been posted! http://challonge.com/soewiiu You can still post below to sign up, or you can do it yourself if you have a Challonge account. As per last time, we'll be organizing the tournament on Showdown's Games channel. See y'all there EDIT: Tonight's 3DS event has been cancelled due a lack of participants. Tonight is just Wii U only.
  9. We'll see when you get here. If people know you'll be late I have no problem with a bit of leway, especially with EVO going on.
  10. Great tournament so far, no doubt; surprised to not see Marn, Tokido or Daigo in top 8, but with 5k+ entrants, there's bound to be surprises.
  11. I'll be signing up for Wii U only. Brackets should be up later today but you can still sign up right until the tournament starts.
  12. Bushwhack triggering Hunt was kind of silly since they were largely supposed to be for utility, and bush traps, given the coming changes to Pounce, could potentially wipe out a carry at Fizz-level speeds with virtually no mana investment whatsoever. There's also the deal with jungle monsters. By applying Hunt to monsters via Bushwhack, you could not only track enemy jungle buffs and their timers with minimal risk, but also potentially pick up the enemy's whereabouts with no other vision, as the monsters always follow the closest champion even if they're not in range. It's kind of dumb and I'd have no problem seeing it gone.
  13. Signups are open for our next Smash Bros. tourney, which begins at 6 PM. Check Gaming General for signups!

  14. The time of the tournament is 6 PM ET. The brackets are not up yet, but signups are! Just post below, with the system you'll be playingvon, and I'll get you in. Best o' luck!
  15. Welcome to the Smash tournament thread! Here you'll find information regarding our Smash Bros tournaments that we host every now and again. Expect this to be updated regularly! EDIT 8/19 @ 4:44 AM ET: The tournament has been pushed back a week. Still same time. In addition it is now WII U ONLY. It's time for the next tournament! Well, announcing it anyways. I originally promised an all new format called the World Warrior Challenge. However, due to some difficulties, that format is no longer possible. Instead, we'll have it at a later date. But enough about what happens in the future. Let's instead turn our attention to the past. Over eight years has passed since the release of the Smash Bros. series' third installment, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. While remaining without question the best game in the series from a casual standpoint, there's very little question about the...questionability of the competitive metagame. Hitstun cancelling, chaingrabs, infinites, and the resulting 90-10 matchups, all when combined with some very questionable stages, really made the game not stand out to the Melee-accustomed competitive masses. Fast forward eight years later. We're pushing two years since the 3DS release of Super Smash Bros. 4. A lot of things have been changed since those dark days of Brawl. Longer combos are reinstated, chaingrabs are gone, as are the infinites that plagued the game (well, if you wanna be stingy about it, Mewtwo and Lucina have infinites, but we don't talk about them.) With rebalances across the board both before and after Smash 4's release and a much more stable competitive meta, let's revisit the time of Brawl and live the good ol' days of complete jank. The Eight Years' Brawl A Smash 4 Wii U Tournament Saturday, August 27 @ 6 PM ET Yep. As you could probably guess, only characters and stages that appeared in Brawl will be legal. Rules The rules are pretty much the standard except they have been geared a little bit to closer resemble competitive Brawl. The more intricate rules, however, are consistent with the past couple of tournaments that we've held. Reborn Power Rankings will be updated post-event, so here's a shot to get in on it! General Stuff 3 Stock, 8 Minutes Double Elimination Bracket All sets including Grand Finals are best 2-out-of-3 All items, custom moves and equipment are banned Stage Selection For the first game in a set, the lower seed will strike two of the three starter stages. From there, the higher seed chooses the stage of play from the remaining two. For each game after the first, the winner of the previous game will strike one stage between the starter and counterpick stages. The loser will then pick the stage of play from the remaining six. Dave's Stupid Rule is in effect - You may not pick a stage that you have previously won on in the same set without your opponent's consent. Stage Availability Wii U Starter Stages: Battlefield Final Destination Smashville Wii U Counterpick Stages: Lylat Cruise Castle Siege Halberd Port Town Aero Dive Special Victory Conditions Click here to sign up for the Wii U Bracket Alternately, just post in this thread after this post and I'll get you in. GLHF! Past events Spirit of Evo - July 17 - Wii U only
  16. Next Reborn Smash tournament will be a week Sunday aka the day of EVO finals. Time TBD. Lemme know if this is gonna be an issue.

Imma be out of town for quite a while, so I probably won't be able to play.

  17. LoL's finally got a figma of one of its Champions. I wonder who it could be...
  18. SFV voice actors: Urien is voiced by Bill Rogers, the voice of Brock, Ghetsis and several Pokemon, including Lucario in Super Smash Bros Brawl. Gill is voiced by Liam O'Brien, aka Inigo in Fire Emblem, Caius Ballad in Final Fantasy XIII series, and Yasuo in League of Legends.

  19. Street Fighter V's story mode was awesome. Learned at the end that Square Enix and Capcom were in cahoots on its creation. Solid 8/10

      You finished it already?

  20. I'm still counting on Aegis Reflector for his V-trigger and for the naked alt to be a premium costume.
  21. Garen clears super fast and brings a lot of damage to a gank, especially with red buff. Pretty bad without a comp that has lots of CC however
  22. Ontario is going to be the first government body in North America to provide official gender-neutral documentation, such as driver's licenses, health cards, etc.

  23. Personally, I don't mind new Alex. Looking like a piece of run-down trash is part of his theme in this game anyway
  24. UK and USA are having a competition of who will fuck themselves up the most. At the moment the British are in lead, but the Americans have a Trump card...

I don't care where the parent status is from, I stand by my arguments and would do so in a court of law if needed. I'm telling you guys, if we let this fool get anywhere near the office of POTUS, it's probably gonna bite us all in the ass harder than anything ever seen before in american politics.

But eh, I'm just a black guy spouting Constitutional jargon and Political Philosophy on the internet, what do I know?

  25. Surprise! Balrog's coming out THIS WEEK with the Story Mode update - and he's bringing his Las Vegas stage from Street Fighter II with him! But that's not all... Juri's lookin' mighty fine! And after a 17 year long hiatus, so is our favorite naked fighte -- ...wait a second. ...Oh well. If Urien's iconic banana hammock couldn't return, at least his equally iconic Aegis Reflector still kicks ass at juggling.
