You ever think about how it's not anyone's job to dole out these lessons? Like, what purpose does this mindset serve? If someone is being a dick, they're not doing it for the person on the receiving end's sake, they're doing it to cut down the person they're speaking to. Treating others with respect shouldn't be based on expectation of reciprocity, but because you operate in a way that is innately respectful to other people. The pep talk you're giving effectively minimizes OP's feelings, and I think you should reflect on why you're taking this approach. Sorry the this happened to you, young monarch. You deserved better, and Reborn is capable of that. I do hope this hasn't soured your image of our wonderful community.

Here's a question, my guy. Why is that NOT the goal? Why is one's health considered a commodity to be bought and payed for? We are a nation founded upon the very idea that all people have the unalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The first of those three being the hot ticket here. One's health and life are one in the same, a point I highly doubt even a conservative with their head buried in the sand as deep as can possibly be, wouldn't deny. Shouldn't the government have an obligation to ensure that the American citizen access to healthcare, as a means of protecting their right to life? Similar logic is used to justify the nation's ever expanding military that is guarding us from [insert external existential boogeyman]. Regardless of how one FEELS about the size of government and its hands being entrenched in the personal lives of the citizenry, there's really no solid argument for why our healthcare industry functions the way it does. I feel that the very lives of our citizens, and as such the life of our nation, really should not be measured in so much as dollars and cents. Now, whether the solution is a full single-payer system, or a hybrid in which a base single-payer is provided for all and an individual can have coverage outside of that, be it through their job or their own private purchase is up for debate. I'll never understand the mentality that comes with "well why should I pay for Joe Blow to receive care?" Hint hint: It's because Joe Blow and everyone else is paying so that you can do the same.

Universal Healthcare doesn't seem feasible as it is now because the healthcare industry in this country is based on profit. That being said, the AHCA is a fuckin' mess, and sometimes I wonder how the GOP can sit around and act like everything is hunky-dory when it's becoming more and more clear by the day that they're in for a very long year this year, and assuming they maintain a similar majority after 2018 a long 4 years with the joker in the WH. They've literally spent so much time on obstructionist actions that they've no fucking idea how to make actual substantive policy. I wonder if Trump turns on them should they fail to pass this bill, and revives his calling to "Drain the Swamp"

I'm bout damn tired of reloggin' on my different devices because this forum can't get it's act together. Didn't have that problem until very recently and it irks the f*ck outta me.

Automod existed. Wasn't given the name Clarice until it became BreloomBot. Reborn was still VERY sensitive lmao. I remember getting kicked and muted for calling mods communists in a back channel. I remember the whole Mael/Autumn fiasco. Reborn was and still is very much a hugbox, but as I'be seen over the years is that a lot of the members could use that kind of environment. You're dead-on with the server/forum thing. The forum always seemed like it was secondary to the server, but the opposite is definitely true nowadays. Just from my sitting back and watching the way people talk and interact around here, a lot of it seems very performative. You only gotta wait until people are in a place not directly tied to this place to see that. I feel like that comes from forum size. You've got a larger amount of people seeing the things you do and say. You want to be perceived favorably if you plan on sticking around, ya know? I roast the auth a lot. Like. A lot. But their role as the years have gone by has become less "Member of the community that can mute/kick the occasional troll / Run the lines for the league" and much more "Babysit the server/forum for as long as you can tolerate then swap out", which is a shame because more often than not the Auth had some of the best personalities (there were and are a few exceptions). Personally, I feel like the biggest change along with the size of the forum has been the average age. Back in the day, we were all in our mid-late teens/early 20s. Much closer in age, easier to relate to one another, makes for a decently mature place if the vibe is right and it was. The larger the place has become, the closer the average age has gone towards Pokemon's intended audience's age. Maturity level goes down, meaning you've gotta handle the community differently. It is what it was, ya know? Old Reborn was good, it was also shitty in some ways. New Reborn is probably just as good for these newer members as Old Reborn was for us. This place ain't aimed at those of us that came here for the League, or just liked the community as it was back then. S'bout time we sat on the porch and chilled with our place as the older folks. Maybe make things more interesting for us here and there, but otherwise keep on the porch.
