That's why they change based on location. I don't want to add too many different ones though because we already have a lottalot of music and it inflates the game file size. Last night I forgot my computer when I went to work so I had a very boring time and got nothing done. Tonight I brought my computer and still got very little done because the concept of emotional stability is the greatest lie of our century. Anyway, I'm injecting some side-events in... I'm calling them side-events because they're not really big enough to be consider a sidequest. Ya heard it? An old quiz makes a reappearance with new rewards, new questions, and the one of the most sarcastic NPCs to date.

basically all of my favorite characters..... DR1 chapter 2 death DR2 chapter 3 execution DR2 chapter 5 execution mrgrgrrrrrrrrrr.. DRAE beast monokuma death q~q (i havent finished DRAE though because the end of chapter 3 was all kinds of yuck) You are correct! It's Ryouko Otonashi, the protagonist of DR0. It doesn't have an official translation and the fan one is kinda hard to stitch together (at least when I read it) but it's passable. Ryouko is my spirit animal. She's the Ultimate Amnesiac, a title I seem to be earning more and more by the day. All the time. There's a lot of compromise involved. Easy example, outfit system. Yeah, it would be super cool and awesome and wow but Essential's handler for it is incomplete and I would have to redo all the protagonists + make a bunch of clothes + fix Essentials for it to work with all graphics and I'm really just not about that life. It's not important enough for me to take an additional X months to do that thoroughly enough that it would be good. And it probably still wouldn't be as good as I'd like. I'll be holding back on a lot of post-game stuff for various reasons. Not that it won't be there, just kind of, less, than it originally was in my head. As for a part of the story, I don't actually think anything's been cut... not that I remember. But some parts of the story have taken different forms due to limitations. For instance, riding giant Steelix. How cool would it be to see what it looks like to ride through the tunnels and bust through the base with it? Rad af. I'm not spriting that. It's not worth it. Nonetheless, you've all got the idea of the sort of stuff that went down with that thing anyway.

hiiiii i just woke up and were playing more tales

I'm really glad you guys like it! Yeah, it's really just major > minor plus changes in the instrumentation. When I originally composed the base city theme, I made it simple enough so it would be easy to do this when the time came. Having that decision I made three years ago finally pan out is kind of a relief. On weekends I usually do animation reviews while I'm at work, and depending on how my work is + how many reviews there are I may or may not get to anything else. I did do a little bit on thinning out events in Obsidia to reduce lag there, but the difference won't be as apparent as with Route 2... Nonetheless, I am making a sort of personal rule to try and keep maps with no connections to less than 200 events since it -seems- like most machines can run up to about that many passably (not perfectly, but well enough.) I gave Opal a similar treatment before, so they're now both just below 200 and should run a little bit smoother.

didn't have time to do much today because lots to do at work, but I did apply a fix from Derxwna to Route 2, to help de-lag it. I know I've taken a couple passes at it, but, this definitely seems like the best it's been so far. So huge thanks to him!

I lied. The topic title was just to trick you into clicking here. And you fell for it. Sorry, not sorry. I wanted to stop and take a moment in between all the well-wishes and resolutions of the holiday, and thank everyone. This community has been around in some form for close to ten years now. Holy wowsy does that sound like a lot. It doesn't feel like it though. For the first three years or so, this site was nothing but a place for some of friends of mine to connect, swap friend codes on D/P and knock each other's in-game teams into the ground. I had no intentions of making a league or game, of this becoming a popular place, or of it even sticking around when B/W came out. And yet here we are. To say my expectations were exceeded would be an understatement. My expectations have been smashed into the tiniest particles known to mankind and scattered to the four winds. I am surprised and amazed every day coming on here, or Tumblr, or Youtube, or Arceus knows where, and seeing so many people excited about the game, excited to be here, maybe just excited to talk to friends they've made here-- I don't know. It's breathtaking. A lot of the time the impact of it misses me. Then I go and try to write a topic like this and I start crying because I'm so glad that this could happen.. Stop it, Ame, you're at work, this is unprofessional... Dammit. >~< I said before this place started as a community of just my friends. In a way, it still is. Maybe we've only spoken briefly in passing on the server, PM, what have you, or maybe you only know me as a character in a game, or the avatar that posts updates far too infrequently, or maybe you're staring at this post in mild skepticism because how could I possibly be implying that you're my friend... Even so, I would like to think that's the case. Maybe closely, casually, indirectly, you're still here to support me in some sense, and even though I can't possibly respond to and engage everyone all the time I would still like to support you. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being here, and being a part of all of this. It means the world to me. Here's to another year. <3

Absolutely not. I'll be working on Starlight ASAP. Like Foamy said, she makes it anyway. She just gave us permission to use it. I'd consider it at least, but I don't know how practical that would be. I think it'd be fun, aside from business/payroll/legality stuff which I have no stomach for. Frankly, I don't remember at all. I think it was something to do with +Infinitas in the first place? But, I really couldn't tell ya. I already commissioned a couple things from her a while back. ^~^ Team Meteor came about from +Infinitas, a comic based on Reborn drawn by Will. The comic also inspired occasional roleplays on our server which Will (with others' help) would host, playing Team Meteor, and then community members would fight them in narrated+simulated scenarios/battles. Ice also made some of the characters that became part of the game.

I saw something like this on reddit, and liked it. So here. Right now we have a thread for 2016 resolutions, and of course we had one last year for 2015. This thread exists to ask the people who posted in last year's thread this question: How did you do? I've taken the liberty of copying over all of the still-active member's resolutions. So, posters, what's the verdict? Be honest now. ^~^

These altered remixes don't take too long to make at all. That's a nice change. I'm also probably jinxing myself as we speak. but that's okay, because im a jinx main Anyway, this is the sort of thing to expect from the music updates. The goal here is to give it a more pleasant tone, but ultimately make sure it's recognizably the same song.
-
i second that notion it even says so in the code.

ok all done yayyy took longer than i thought it would after last night tbh when does it not but that's another percent jump and i can post fields now!! so i guess, what? i'll post them at like 50/60/70/80/90/100% completion what next? i'll be working on music updates + event updates, both of which i dont atm have a feel how long they'll take, because events are such a mixed bag, and music... shouldn't be too bad but i accidentally left the music project files on my old computer so THAT'S annoying. but hey. that's tomorrow-me's problem.

Yes, it will. We're already starting to shift to more of a general gaming focus as a site (though probably we'll always still heavily rooted in Pokemon obvs) huh?? No question about it, I'll be in the thick of Starlight by then. ^^ yeaaaah that's gonna take forever too. #worth

Finished field app graphics for all the new fields. Next up is injecting data into the scripts for the note system. I started that tonight and it's going wayyy faster than I anticipated, so I'll almost certainly be done with that tomorrow (about a third done so far), at which point all field-effect stuff for this episode will be complete* *or close enough to complete that I don't have to care about it.

...Uh, non-Pokemon games were specified, weren't they? Above responses are spot on. I started in March of 2012, so we're going on four years ._.; As for time, for a lot of that time I worked on it every day in class, so that would have been like, what, 4-5 hours at school, and then plus most of my spare time when I was home or in between classes... (unless I was having a motivational flub in which case I'd just go play league for 13 hours straight or something)... On average, it was probably anywhere from 8-14 hours per day. There have been times I flat out don't do anything else. Lately I'm trying to enforce a schedule on myself which has me working on it 7 hours a day reliably, ideally minimizing times where I feel like I should work, but don't. However I often get interrupted in that time.

all fields implemented!!! now for documentation and isn't THAT going to take forever too Q~Q since that's also about rebuilding it into the new field app system for old fields too
-
Yeah bruh, that was like three months ago. Worked more on that field today, finished the aforementioned attribute and nothing else is really difficult, I just haven't had the time I need to get it done >~< Weekends are busy... I've been sick and sleeping too much... Rip :c

Nope. I don't see a reason for that. I answered the first one already... The hardest part for me has been trying to find a balance between my desire work on the project, and my emotional/physical limits. I enjoy doing this, and I want to get it done. However, there are also many other things I want to do, a lot of games I want to play, things to watch, other projects and interests, and I'll never have enough time for any of it. I feel like Reborn is most important, so for a time I ignored all of that other stuff to keep working on it every moment I could. Then my hands shut down. So it's a continual struggle for me to at once weigh my desire to work harder, against other goals, needs, and my actual capability. I can't do this myself, but the project will be open to modding/translation after it's complete (there's not much use in doing it before then anyway since things would have to be redone with each release) If I had solved it, I wouldn't remember. But I don't think a program is necessary; just the easy way out. As such I have no interest in changing it. (That said, there -was- a glitch that made it a little wonky and maybe that's what you're referring to. But that was fixed-- either for 15 or 16, I can't remember. The glitch did not make it unsolvable though.) Nope E19 will be the last episode. And uh, it's hard to quanitfy it, but there should be a fair bit of individual stuff/places in the end, but it probably won't be as expansive as things in the main story. An NPC explains the change. I did, and you're certainly free to use it If you mean like, my forum name changes? Almost all of those are other people doing that to me with the old shop item for it, lol..But favorite among those would be, Poptart? cuz it's kinda cute. Least favorite would be fucco-san because idk the reference and based on other stuff I'm p sure I don't want to. Also it sounds gross. Like fuccboi. nty. They were an idea I had and mentioned in a very very old topic on this forum, like, when 4th gen was just winding down. The topic was something like, what do you want to see in the new generation of games, and I mentioned it there and got really excited about it. I tried to find the topic, but couldn't. BUT, I did find this topic from 2012 before I had any real intention to make this game, where I was talking about what some field effects might be like. Somewhere during the E10-11 development cycle I remembered this topic (although I didn't find or reference it, so a lot of the ideas are different) and was really excitedly talking Dan about 'wait can we actually do this???' because even though I had this idea, and even though I was making the game, I hadn't thought it would be possible/practical to put something like Field Effects in when I myself barely knew any scripting. He was just like 'in a word, yes' and promised we'd figure it out and then he disappeared and left me to do it all alone q~q but that was probably for the best and it's okay cuz he came back and i learned things<3 ah shoot i really wanna look through this topic and see how different/similar it ended up but i have to go to work, rip. I'll let you guys comment on that. but at a glance pretty much all of these, even mael's idea, went on to become fields and some of them are fairly faithful... the ones that didn't were the indoor field and the dirt path because lolboring. Semi-unrelated, while looking through topics I also found this now mildly-amusing thing, though nothing came of this iteration. and then this topic in which i actually found essentials and started working on it that is responsible for what now exists. (also fun fact the image i posted in that thread that is now broken was a screen shot from a previous iteration of what will go on to become Starlight Divide (which is really sad because i REALLY liked how it had turned out visually-- it was way way way prettier than reborn)) tbh I don't think the AI knows about the original effect either. and how does one even 'counter' that. ._.;

Confirmed. Basically I broke all the generators on the site. Oops.

no i broke shit, sorry I'll fix it as soon as I can

these few weeks have been/are going to be really busy for me, so i may not have a lot of time to work on stuff (i have to work every holiday+holiday eve + a week straight, among other misc things) today is one such example where i was gone for most of the day so i only had a little bit of time to work on a field attribute that forces certain form changes

Yeah, and I've considered going through with it anyway (but I don't think I will). Namely, changing the scenarios around Corey/Kiki's battles so that they aren't gym leaders (and thereby people aren't disappointed when they don't get a badge). I made them leaders in-game and planned on that so that I could get both those two, and Aya/Samson's battles in the storyline, but that denial of the badges has caused a lot more frustration than I ever expected.

Pretty much everything Kuro said I agree with entirely, and that would also be my priority... Slight exception being that I don't think we need to 'size down' so much as ensure that there's strategic diversity enough to ensure that everything has its applications. There may only be x amount of type combinations, but there's a lot more factors than just that, so I think it's possible (but would take a LOT of design and balancing work) but really, fox type best type I don't remember about past development stuff because lolmymemoryisbad but as far as things I can remember I had had it up to here with making the background graphics for "that one field" because it took me like eight hours and then I realized I hadn't properly checked the spacing and it was unusable in-game. So I ended up having to remake it, which I went through like 4 or 5 more concepts of before settling on one, all of which also took quite a while. In playthroughs... I don't remember my most recent one that well; maybe Inuki or Dan do since they watched a lot of them, but I think I had a lot of trouble with (pre-Mirror Field) Serra. I didn't really ragequit, but I lost a lot. I was like, "let me remake and balance this gym already!!" and inuki was like "no, you will suffer with the rest of us, you are not allowed to make any changes until after you beat her" :c Probably. I never know what to make NPCs say. But, I'm trying not to do too many because the number of references in the game has been a point of criticism in the past.

mission accomplished fixed the error, so "that one field" is now fully implemented. the documentation for it is still going to be hell though OTL also implemented all of another field, meaning 4/6 are done. I'm not updating the status thread yet because I do still have to do the documentation piece of all new fields, which is its own demon. But once I get through this, there'll be a pretty good % jump again.
