Just Started the Run, The Main character is the Aero Skin (as suggested in the Poll) and I named them Challenged, to show how mentally challenged they are. Got my Chikorita as my starter (Suggest Names for it below) Chikorita will probably end up pretty bulky as it has the sassy nature (+Sp. Def, -Spd) That may come back to haunt me but its better than nothing, and maybe it will help me with Venam? probably not. I then Decimated crazy league assistant and one of my rivals just to walk outside with 7 hp and almost die to a pidgey, this is gonna suck. As this portion of the run continues I figure my best chance at not failing is to get more pokemon to at least have a semi decent team.  First thing I do is go to the casino and have a kid chuck his coin case down the toilet, that may be handy later to buy a maractus in the casino.

Now Gearean Park, to any who are unaware, is one of the earliest spots in the game to get grass types. When I went there to find my second pokemon I found an oppertunity. The pokemon Fomantis is findable here and I knew if I could add it, with its hidden ability Contrary. Contrary is an ability that reverses stat boosts and stat drops so intimidate would raise its attack and swords dance would lower it. If I could get it with this ability It could end up being a better asset in the future.,, of course to get it with its hidden ability it will take a lot of grinding...

Funny thing happened while trying to find a HA fomantis for the run. I ran into a shiny pansear, Of course I can't use it and I aint gonna catch it, so R.I.P Shiny Pansear

After enough grinding I finally caught A hidden ability Fomantis (male) It Has the careful nature, which is annoying (+Sp Def. -Sp. Atk) but the contrary should more than make up for that, as well as its strong physical attacking in its evolved form.

While grinding up fomantis and chikorita in the sewers with ren chikorita evolved into Bayleef! its probably still bad anyways

The first "hurdle" of the challenge takes place in the sewers in the Shiny Garbodor fight. Fortunately, my bayleef is tanky enough to live through the trubbishes at the beginning, Of course the difficulty is in the garbodor. It's too bulky to rely on ren taking it out, so I'm going to have to level up fomantis in the hope it will be strong enough to deal some damage

Either way I will be taking a break for today and will continue the challenge, and ultimately the garbodor fight tommorow

Chikorita is a good starter.

Your level up move pool gives you access to dual screens, and other support options. Underrated IMO

Name suggestion: El Chiko

Posted (edited)

Ok I'll rename it right away, Although isn't El Chico (Yes I know the request is El Chiko)  spanish for the boy? Either way thanks for the suggestion! still trying to deal with the shiny garbodor though, any suggestions?

Here Ya Go

By the way, It has the moves Tackle, Reflect, Razor Leaf, and Poison Powder. Still waiting on the light screen. Unfortunately I didn't get its HA but it will be fine.Screenshot (4).png

I will now begin the biggest, most annoying grind known to man. The casino, in hopes of getting my 3rd team member maractus so maybe I can fail less at the garbodor fight

So far I've grinded out 3300 coins... this is gonna take a while

How many encounters can you catch in Gearen?

I think this may be extremely difficult if you restrict encounters, especially late game in a monotype.

Posted (edited)

I'm restricting captures, not encounters, seeing as obviously I won't be finding any easy grass types first try. Of course there are 4 grass type encounters in gearean I know of, being the starter, gearean park (pansage, fomantis) Gearean Casino (maractus for 5000 coins) and then route 1 wich I haven't reached yet but will probably have a bellsprout or something. So a team of 4 is what I'm probably going to have to deal with for the venam fight. Once I get a team of 6 everything should fall in place. I am still trying to decide wether or not grass memory silvally is allowed or not but we shall see.

Finally finished grinding out the 5000 coins needed for maractus, and here it is! Along with a screenshot of it there will also be a screenshot of my fomantis since we are still waiting on a name for both Maractus AND Fomantis.

Even if there are 11 grass types I can catch before the 1st gym I can only catch one per route, I will do my best to form a good team before then but it is theoretically possible that I may have less than 6 pokemon before the 1st gym and I may  pick a bad pokemon and permanantly lock myself from a good encounter, its all part of the challenge though.

Also, interesting side note: none of the random encounters know how to deal with contrary, they just tail whip screech etc. away, without caring that I'm getting stronger because of it.

Finally After 6 Hours of in game time I have defeated the Garbodor! SO THE CHALLENGE CONTINUES
