Accepted Characters

Hiss13

Name: Leivinia Brunel
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Appearance:
Normal:
Leivinia sports purple hair with twin tails that hang straight down from the front side of her face and rest on the front of her body, reaching down to the bottom of her average-sized chest. At the same time, her eye color matches her hair color. As a (recently inducted) member of the Air Armament Service, she wears the the typical white and blue uniforms assigned to the members of the AAS. In her daily life, she prefers to wear a mix of black and blue, using that color scheme on her t-shirts, sweaters, and shoes while wearing blue jeans.
Barrier Jacket:
Leivinia's Barrier Jacket is an open black long-sleeved longcoat with a blue border and a symbol of two katanas crossing each other on the back. On each of Leivinia's arms is a set of armor that extends from wrist up to an inch below her elbow. Her top is a short-sleeved near-skin-tight black top with an abstract blue lightning-based symbol on the front. Her pants are loose-fitting blue pants. Around her waist and going behind the longcoat is single wide red belt worn diagonally in a similar fashion to the belts on standard issue AAS Barrier Jackets. Her shoes are black and blue much like the remainder of her Barrier Jacket.

Lastly, while her barrier Jacket is up, her hair goes from a twin tailed hairstyle to a ponytail style, tied by a lone blue ribbon.

Personality: Leivinia is an energetic jovial young girl in her normal life. Her upbeat nature can tend to be overbearing for some to the point where she can come off as a bit too friendly at times. However, in combat or in any point where she is in a relatively serious situation, her personality does a near-180 flip as she becomes incredibly cool, calm and analytical. The odd flips in her personality can be quite jarring to others.

Magic System: Modern Belka
Mana Conversion Affinity: Lightning
Magic Color: Blue
Device Name: Severing Spark
Device Appearance:
Sealed:
In its sealed form, Severing Spark is a black pendant resembling two crossed katanas much like the symbol on the back of her longcoat.
Device Mode:
Severing Spark's Device Mode consists of two identical black blades. The blades are 1-sided and have no guard on them. The blade has a glowing light blue 4-cycle spiral on its long hilt and at the back end of the hilt is a half-diamond shaped clasp. Slightly above where the guard would have been is a parallelogram-shaped blue gem. A blue line extends from the hilt, warps around the gem, and extends moving along the center all the way to the end of the blade.

http://i.imgur.com/PDDDJpm.png

Severing Spark has three forms. The first is the default Blade Form. The second is called Lightning Blade Form. The third is called Torsional Blade Form.

Lightning Blade Form splits the blade at the Blade at the middle blue line up until the gem and leaves a space in between where a blue mana blade forms through.

Torsional Blade Form is the result of connecting both swords in Lightning Blade Form at the clasp on the hilt and allows for a blade that can be spun from the center.
Backstory:
Leivinia was born on (Administrated World #3) Vaizen and lived there until she was about 10. However, due to a shift in her parents' careers, the Brunel family ended up moving to Port Town in (Administrated World #23) Ruwella. As a result, she ended up getting quite used to living in a world which was nearly devoid of magic despite the interest she had in magic while she lived Vaizen. Even so, she still did try to learn magic on her own despite the lack of magic on the planet she lived on.

When she was 13, however, Port Town became involved in a string of kidnappings. After a large number of kidnappings had occurred within the city, the TSAB finally took it upon themselves to investigate. A number of Enforcers were sent to Port Town due to the severity of the incident and over time discovered that the kidnapper seemed to be using randomly assigned teleportation spells which were locked and untraceable.

Fascinated with the Enforcers, the young girl began to follow them around. She was fascinated by as she watched them in the field. There was one blonde Enforcer who she specifically tended to follow a lot. At first the Enforcer seemed to try and push Leivinia away. However, after Leivinia stubbornly continued to follow her, the Enforcer continued to let Leivinia be her little shadow.

After some time, however, the investigation began to come to a standstill as the amount of information the Enforcers could gather was becoming less and less.

One day, on her way home from school, Leivinia saw the Enforcer and decided to say hi to her. On her way to the Enforcer, however, she was suddenly enveloped in light as a magic circle seemed to form right around her feet. Before the light enveloped her eyes, she could see the Enforcer speeding towards the circle. However, she did not make it in time.

Leivinia awoke in an abandoned facility at night and overheard her kidnappers talking about selling children to people on unadministrated planets for certain types of resources. However, the kidnappers seemed to notice her still being awake. As one was coming back to knock her out, Leivinia began to panic. In a moment of absolute fear, a crudely constructed magic circle appeared beneath her and a flash of blue light enveloped the entire area. All she could tell after the light was faded was that she was tired and lying on the scarred floor with the very roof above her having been blown away. The others in the building seemed to have collapsed on the ground, paralyzed as well. However, after a short amount of time, the kidnappers seemed to start to get up and were frantically preparing to make the attempt to run away.

However, before said kidnappers could make their attempt to escape, multiple TSAB Enforcers arrived on the scene and immediately began apprehending the suspects. Among the Enforcers was the blonde Enforcer in a black and white barrier jacket carrying a device that looked like an axe with a yellow core.

Shortly after the incident, the Enforcer let Leivinia know that her release of converted mana was allowed the Enforcers to locate her. She also advised Leivinia to try and join the TSAB if she wanted to hone that talent.

She joined the TSAB at the age of 14 and eventually became a part of the AAS's 12th Team about two and a half years after joining the TSAB. She hopes to one day become an Enforcer so she can meet the Enforcer who had saved her years before and possibly work alongside her.

Due to her level of talent and close combat skills within her division, she was scouted to be a member of Buster 3.

Murdoc

Name: Fukui Shou

Gender: Male
Age: 14
Appearance: Somewhat shorter than average with black hair dyed with a red stripe over his left eye and slate grey eyes and a face that defaults to a somewhat soft, but nervous expression. Possesses a fairly slight build, though he is in good shape. Almost never seen without his favorite black jacket, usually worn unzipped, with a simple solid-color (usually white) tee underneath, and jeans. He also owns an AAS uniform, though he finds it uncomfortable and as such won't be found in it unless he is required to be.

His Barrier Jacket's most striking feature is what appears to be a set of mechanical wings extending from his back, consisting of a few slender vanes made of what appears to be black metal that assist during flight. These vanes can fold together to become a set of two braces that steady him against recoil. It also possesses a somewhat bulky set of shoulder plating, chestplate, and arm braces (the left being larger than the right) all of which are connected. He wears a visor consisting of what appears to be red glass over his eyes and metal pieces that reach back and cover his ears; this can be expanded into a full helm if absolute focus or additional protection is required. His lower half is relatively unarmored in comparison, consisting of a pair of black pants and boots with a gold-trimmed belt.
Personality: Standoffish and generally asocial to those who don't know him. Appears cool and collected under duress. Those who know him more closely are aware that he simply doesn't talk much or find the need to make a lot of friends, though he does stick closely to people he has already gotten to know. Some don't like him due to his trait of occasionally making extremely cutting remarks, regardless of the situation. Quite intelligent, at least when it comes to machinery and mechanics, and is usually found fiddling with something of that variety in his down time. A bit lazy.
Magic System: Mid-Childa
Mana Conversion Affinity: None
Color of Magic Circle: Greenish-teal
Device Name: Hyperion Caster
Device Appearance: When sealed, appears as a black metal bracelet with two thin gold-colored bands etched all the way around it close to the edges, with a broader red stripe in the center.

In Device Mode, Hyperion Caster appears to be a somewhat bulky rifle with a digital display just underneath the scope, which normally glows a dull red with information about the status of itself and/or Shou displayed in brighter characters. Notably, it lacks a recognizable magazine or anywhere to load ammo (being, after all, a device meant to aid in casting spells). The scope can slide to the left and downward slightly to allow aiming down the iron sights. It has four barrels of varying length and width, three of which are attached where one would expect and rotate to swap between them. The fourth is along the left side of the device and must be manually switched with the others; it is significantly thicker than the others. The three normal barrels have a gold band at their end and beginning, while the fourth has red ones and a gold line from end to end on either side of it. The weapon has a few levers, similar to parts found on typical firearms, which adjust the device for certain spells.
Background: Shou was recognized as having more than a fair amount of both magical and mechanical talent from a young age, being a Midchildan native, though as a younger child he would frequently land in hot water from other kids and authority figures alike due to his rather tactless personality and lack of any real motivation to attend school, preferring to stay home and rip into anything even vaguely mechanical he could find or trying to blow things up in the park with magic. (He was rarely successful, but the steps taken toward doing so inspired both pride and deep concern in parents.)

He mellowed somewhat over his childhood, those around him managing to keep him in school and out of one-sided fights with his classmates. In his free time, he stuck to the Device Meisters in the area like glue, learning the workings of the intricate tools and picking up some tips from their clients. On the condition that the only use for it would be a career in the TSAB, one of them eventually relented to constant pressing from Shou and helped the boy construct Hyperion Caster. He spent a year in training for the AAS before being scouted for Buster Force 3 due to his ranged combat and mechanical skills.

Dobby

Name: Alice Twixton
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Appearance:

Normal: Alice is a refined woman and so she must look the part. In the mornings she brushes her hair into an auburn sheet that flows down her back, she uses tasteful make up to highlight her bright emerald eyes and her soft, appealing face. Afterwards she dons an elegant white dress with a single bow of the same color at the neck. She wears white high heels to keep the color theme but she hardly needs them, being almost 6 feet tall without them and proud of it, especially because she also takes care to keep a strong, athletic body for fear of being mistaken for a dainty aristocrat.

Barrier Jacket:

Alice wears plated armor, a breastplate, gauntlets and greaves that bears her family coat of arms, a tree bare of leaves with branches that interweaves upward rather than sprouting outwards. The metal of the armor is an eerily bright white that offers no reflection to those that look at it. When she uses her barrier jacket Alice's hair is braided back for practical purposes.

Personality: Alice bases her actions and principles on how she believes a true noble ought to act. It is her charge to care for those beneath her and so she is very quick to step up to a responsibility others might shy from. She is diligent and caring and refuses to accept someone using their superiority to coerce someone into doing anything. Of course she is quick to blame herself if something goes awry and sometimes it takes her a while to get back on her feet.
Magic System used: Mid-Childa
Mana Conversion Affinity (if any): Fire
Color of Magic Circle: Red
Device Name: Titania Sumeris
Device Appearance: When inactive Titania Sumeris is simply a red gem similar to a ruby inset on a silver ring Alice wears that can be removed as and when needed. When active Titania has two forms, one as a standard staff that launches powerful beams from the tip, the second form is where Titania splits into 4 drone-like sub units that Alice can direct and fire less powerful beams from. These drones can also be used to create a barrier although this requires at least 3 of them in a triangle or 4 in a quadrilateral formation to do so. The barrier is weaker with only 3.

Background: The Twixton family was once a proud noble family when England was still under an aristocracy as opposed to the democracy the country enjoys today. Nowadays the family lives in splendor due to the wealth they maintained over the ages as they make money by investing in a variety of different businesses and corporations. They're a family with many connections that have managed to avoid the loss of prestige that some other families came across.

Alice was raised according to the nobler traditions that were hallmarks of the aristocracy. Proper etiquette, how to carry oneself with elegance and grace. The duties of true lords and ladies. These especially Alice took to heart. She was the sole heir to the Twixton family and she would conduct herself as expected of the heir.

However, with the family enjoying financial stability due to her predecessors work and her father still alive and in charge, Alice had no cause to work toward. Her people were happy, her family safe. All was well. At about the age of 14 she approached her father about what she could do to help. He gave her a wry smile and turned her away, telling her to keep to her studies to one day take over the family. The frustrated Alice because she was quite sure she could handle the families affairs even at the tender age of 14. So, with naught much to do, she became acquainted with that known as the occult. After all, Britain is rich with magical lore and legends.

Alice searched and searched whenever she could, gathering information on magic wherever she could. A lot of it was bunk, something little more than nothing. Faerie stories that held only sentimental value for people, not practical. Until she came across writings of "Mana" and what a mage could do. A journal from an anonymous hermit found in an abandoned shack on the coast of the country. It was barely legible aside from the bare instructions but that was enough. Alice followed these instructions and found within herself the capability to do as the hermit did, letting the mana flow.

Of course this caught the attention of the TSAB and soon enough she was selected to be trained as a Mage. Alice found the purpose of the TSAB rather romantic, governing and protecting each of the worlds. Alice saw it as a higher calling for her, beyond her family whilst she still protected them all, in a way. So she agreed and now, today, she has been accepted into Buster 3.

Bfroger

Name: Theotman Elvan "Dave" Davies
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Appearance: 179 cm tall, weighing 128 kg, it is no surprise that Dave isn't really skinny. Let's be honest, he's overweight, but he doesn't care. Food is his passion, after all. He sports unkept, dirty orange colored short hair and some unshaven beard. He usually wears a sleeveless hoodie and long, skin tight dark grey pants. He needs to wear knee support over his left knee.
His Barrier Jacket, or actually, Knight Armor or even more precisely, Clothes (because his device materializes as an armor), is a dark grey undershirt and black pants, adorned with brown straps across his body, all connected to the belt around his waist, while his left arm is where Beisrydd, his device, materializes in its active form.
Personality: Rude, snarky, lazy and uninterested, somewhat aloof. Dave loves food, to the point of eating almost all his free time. In any case, that's only the exterior of his personality. Inside, he still has that twinkle of knighthood passed down through generations in his family, although it rarely shows.
Magic System used: Ancient Belkan
Mana Conversion Affinity (if any): N/A
Color of Magic Circle: Dirty Orange
Device Name: Beisrydd
Device Appearance: Sealed: While sealed, Beisrydd appears in the form of a silver cross shaped earring implanted in Dave's right ear.
Active: In its active form, Beisrydd encases Dave's body in the form of additional armor in the mode called the Rüstung, or armor form. The armor is a brilliant shining silver knight's armor on his shoulders, legs and joints, also covering the upper part of the ear it once stood engraved in the form of the silver earring. The Rüstung mode was additionally implemented into Beisrydd, replacing the Schild mode and to provide better barrier and shield control as well as better protection. The core of the device is on his right hand in the form of a silver gauntlet, adorned with the cross visible on the Belka style magic circles. The cartridge system is also located in the gauntlet.
There is one more mode for Beisrydd, and that is the Breitschwert, or Claymore, in English. It is a huge 1.9 m long, two handed bright silver sword formed from the device armor encasing Dave's body in the Rüstung form, with the cartridge system installed in the middle of the sword, just above the guard. Dave has difficulty wielding it for combat, and even more so because this mode sacrifices his defense in order to be able to materialize the huge sword.
Background: Born in Northern Midchilda into an ages long bloodline of proud and mighty Belkan knights, Dave had been raised strictly since his infancy to follow in the footsteps of his predecessors and serve the Church as one of the knights. What this included were everyday practices of magic, mana control and wielding his device, Beisrydd, the weapon of his late grandfather which had been implemented (with magic, so that it couldn't be removed; it was a method to reach higher levels of synchronization and to ensure the safety of the device) into his ear as a sort of earring, slowly synchronizing itself with Dave on a much deeper level. Soon, he would become incapable of wielding any other device, save for Beisrydd. He was forced to train night and day, taking various tests and exams from time to time in the church to further help guarantee his future which was already set in his father's eyes. (Dave, however, only showed exceptional level of skill in programming defense spells, while showing no talent for direct combat using the 'Breitschwert'. The Church wanted him because of his exceptional reserves of mana, but they didn't know is that his magical potential is, in fact, low despite the high reserves because he has difficulty controlling the mana output, and requires the constant use of cartridges in order to properly use magic.)

This is where problems arose.

You see, while his father was all into the knightly stuff, stupidly loyal and all the other things considered sacred in the knightly code, Dave was nothing like that. Dave was lazy, slow, clumsy, rude, gluttonous (he just loved eating, ever since he was little) and soon grew to be rebellious towards his father and the Church which were forcing him into a future he did not want. As he grew from a clueless child into a somewhat self-aware teenager, Dave came to think with his own head, instead of just following his father's orders. He started opposing his father and the everyday practices, masses and the fate imposed upon him. He grew ever more distant from his duties, much to his father's dismay, skipping practices to go wander the cities with the gang he came to call his friends, slowly falling further to the edge of society. And he loved opposing his father, like any other stupid teenager. It was fun to roam the streets, fun to stuff himself, fun to do all the prohibited things his stupid father never let him do. This attitude of Dave's brought forth the rage of his father and many arguments ensued, some of which ended in actual fist to fist combat, where Dave was, of course, always overpowered. He still has issues with his left knee from when he was only 14. Still, he enjoyed making his father angry and his misdeeds only grew larger in scale. This kept on until he was 17, when his father finally snapped. It was a scary confrontation and Dave would never forget how his father drew out his sword at him. He would have probably ended up dead, had it not been for Beisrydd's intervention, which gave Dave a chance to run away.

Dave ended up alone, on the streets, with only Beisrydd at his side to keep him company, and he hated the thing's metallic, German voice. Even though it was Beisrydd who saved Dave by activating, it was still an object of hatred as it was given to him by his father. In any case, after around a year of barely making it, Dave decided it was enough and went towards the Bureau to sign up. Maybe it was the hunger, or he was just fueled by his anger towards his father, but he signed up, using Beisrydd to demonstrate his prowess with magic, and they accepted him as a recruit. He demonstrated the vast knowledge of history and other subject he earned throughout the years of studying, but he also demonstrated his laziness and disrespect towards the authority. Several times he tried slashing off the part of his ear which encased Beisrydd, but the protective magic around it never let him. He also tried wielding some of the Midchildan Intelligent Devices just to get rid of Beisrydd, but he could never synchronize with them properly. One night, after around a year of struggling with the Bureau and almost getting himself kicked out on several occasions, he ended up accepting his current state of things. It came like a sort of illumination, a sudden realization, perhaps because he was no longer a child. He came to drop the senseless grudge against any and all authority figures and came to accept Beisrydd, actually starting to feel thankful that the device had always been there for him. He became exceptionally diligent, slowly gaining reputation in the Bureau and he even went and got an upgraded mode for Beisrydd (something he never wanted to do because he just wanted to ditch the thing), obtaining the Rüstung mode on his device. They actually broke through the security placed on Beisrydd in order to do that, so Dave is able to take the cross off his ear (although the implant which holds it is still irremovable from the ear). He specialized in defense magic and reached the level of it that nobody could look over.

Actually, he was that good with defense that they picked him out for a special unit, the Task Force Buster 3 at the age of 21, mere 4 years after joining ~

Magic System used: Ancient Belka

Mana Conversion Affinity (if any): Fire

Device Name: Eleganz

Device Appearance:

Device Mode: A thin rapier about a meter long. The hilt is golden and adorned with an intricate carving of Olivie Sagebrecht atop the throne of the Saint's Cradle. The blade itself is made of a metal that has the strength and sturdiness of steel, but has a crystal-like, soft blue appearance. On the blade is engraved the line, "May the Saint guide my point."

Sealed mode: Same as Device mode, but miniaturized to the size of a rosary cross, worn on a chain around the neck.

Background:

Liliana is a girl with no family. Left at the door of Mid-Childa's Saint Church, she was taken in, clothed, fed, taught and raised by the Church. Early on, she was identified to have high potential as a magic user, prompting the Church to begin teaching her magic and combat techniques. However, unlike her peers, many of whom gravitated towards the sophisticated AIs and the ease of use offered by the Modern Belka system, Liliana found a particular charm to the older systems of Ancient Belka. Something about the honesty and sincerity of facing an opponent head-on, with no lies, no deceit; Something of that spoke to her, resonated with her. And such, she elected to train, not in the Modern Belka system of magic, but the Ancient Belka system.

The fight became everything to Liliana. She lived for the duel. In her mind, the rush of the duel took precedence over the teachings of the Church, a fact which she herself realized, and which caused her plenty of personal conflict. The more she trained, the more she began to experience the development of her own identity, a frightening process which left her sleepless most nights.

Seeing this, the older Sisters in the Church decided to give her the opportunity to discover what she really wanted in her life; whether she wanted to live as a combatant, or if she wanted to live the life of a nun. They told her to go on a journey of self-searching, sending her to the TSAB as an attached combatant, a request which the TSAB acceded to: they had recently created a new task force, after all, and they needed manpower to staff it.

With a heavy heart plagued by doubt, Liliana began her journey as a member of Buster 3.

KosherKitten

Name: Himura Katsuo
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Appearance: Katsuo is tall and muscular with pale skin and short cropped periwinkle hair. He has narrow pale red eyes. He dresses fairly casually, wearing long sleeve shirts that look like t-shirts pulled over a second shirt (IDK what those are called but they look awesome) and cargo pants with sneakers

Katsuo's Barrier Jacket Is primarily comprised on a long white trench coat with pattern less red splotches all over the back. He wears this over a scarlet shirt with periwinkle jeans held tight by a simple black belt. He also wears red combat boots and fingerless gloves
Personality: Katsuo is the type of guy who's always willing to help but never willing to admit he likes helping. He tends to avoid approaching people and waits for them to come to him. He'll act exasperated at being bothered but really doesn't mind at all. He also has quite the temper and is prone to violence when he's agitated. He's not the brightest person in existence but he works hard and is very knowledgeable
Magic System used: Modern Belka
Mana Conversion Affinity (if any): None
Color of Magic Circle: Scarlet
Device Name: Gwaedu (Gwī-dŭ)
Device Appearance: When Sealed Gwaedu looks like a ruby earring (dangly-chain kind) that Katsuo wears on his right ear

In device form Gwaedu becomes a spiked black mace with a ruby at the end of its silver handle. It may also be shifted into flail mode where the head detaches and a chain extends from the handle. It has a simple cartridge system where a single cartridge may be inserted into a slot on the lower handle
Background: (Ima cheese this a little since I don't know the universe that well yet) Katsuo's exact origin is unknown, even to himself. He can't remember most of his early years. His memories begin around the age of ten where he woke up on a TSAB ship with nothing but the clothes on his back and Gwaedu in his hand. His only memory his name and the name of his device. Apparently they'd found him floating loosely in spacetime; barely alive and only kept so because of a stasis field Gwaedu was projecting around him. With nothing better to do, he joined the TSAB in hopes of learning who he was or at the very least creating a new life for himself

He spent a long period of time in training, and wasn't allowed into the field until fifteen. But once he was finally allowed out, he quickly proved his mettle as a warrior. Within a short time he became known for being direct and brutal in his approach, which would get him both commended for his effectiveness and scolded for his temper. Even with his temper, his effectiveness as a brawler got him requested to join Buster 3. Which he accepted because he didn't have much else to do at the time

A few things to note all PCs will be of Mage Rank B (or the equivalent depending on magic system) just to keep things simple and the devices that you need to worry about are Intelligent Devices, Armed Devices and Modern Belka Devices. I will explain these later in the post.

So now its time on to explaining things about the Nanoha-verse here we go.

Once again here’s the link to the wiki:http://nanoha.wikia.com/wiki/Magical_Girl_Lyrical_Nanoha_Wiki

The TSAB

http://nanoha.wikia.com/wiki/Time-Space_Administrative_Bureau

The Time Space Administrative Bureau, usually shorted to TSAB or the Bureau, is an interdimensional security force formed by several worlds. It monitors magic and stuff like Lost Logia (lost ancient magical technology) as well as growth of worlds. It runs basically like a full on military force.

It separates know inhabited worlds into Administrated worlds and non-administrated worlds. On the Administrated worlds it functions as the supreme administrative and peacekeeping power.

Non-Administrated worlds are worlds which are not under the full supervision of the TSAB for various reasons but mainly because the world overall is too primitive and has not discovered magic. TSAB agents are generally scattered throughout these worlds in order to keep an eye on them, influence them if necessary, and keep a force available in case incidents dealing with magic or Lost Logia occur on these worlds. These worlds and its people are unaware of the existence of the TSAB and its laws. Yet are still treated like administrated worlds in regard to them.

Magic

http://nanoha.wikia.com/wiki/Magic

Mana

This is the magical energy generated by the mage with in their bodies. Its nature and amount varies depending on the person. The color of a mages magical circle is a visible representation of that.

Mana Conversion Affinity

[spoiler]

This is the ability some mages have to convert mana into other forms of energy (heat or electricity) without the need of a spell.

Linker core

All mages possess a magical organ called a Linker Core which allows them shape mana into spells through a process called Linking.

Spells

http://nanoha.wikia.com/wiki/Spell

Spells are magical "programs" computed within the mage's mind. A device usually assists in this process and acts storage device for spells as well. A magical circle is a visible representation of the computation. To complete the spell a trigger is needed, usually the spells name.

Trigger

http://nanoha.wikia.com/wiki/Trigger

Aria: Long inactions used for powerful and complex spells.

Command Phrase: A short command to the device, things like fire or shoot or the name of the spell.

Action trigger: A movement usually accompanied by a command phrase.

Magic Systems

http://nanoha.wikia.com/wiki/Magic_system

There are three types of magic systems in the Nanoha-verse.

The Mid-Childa System is the most common one used and is used by the title character. Its basically long range beam spam.

Ancient Belka is rarely used outside of the Saint Church. It specializes in close range anti-personal attacks users of this system are referred to as knights not mages. The spell names are usually in German.

Modern Belka is a combination of the previous two usually for going the long range of Mid and is used mainly for close range one on one fights. It is used usually by enhancing the mages body or device.

Devices

http://nanoha.wikia.com/wiki/Device

Devices in Nanoha are basically computers used to help the mage do calculations for spells.(they are usually shown as weapons and the such) all have an unique appearance(well at least for non-generic mooks)

There are multiple types and are used more often depending on the magic system used. Devices also require synchronization with their master to function fully. That's why most mages use the same devices throughout their lift and upgrade it instead of getting new ones.
The three that I will talk about are Intelligent, Armed, and Modern Belka Devices.

Intelligent Devices are used by mages who use the Mid-Childa system. They are highly sophisticated AI nearly sentient, they usually have a distinctive personality and can make its own decision, as well as give advice to it master, or act if its master is incapacitated. They usually take the form of staffs, and speak English.

Armed Devices are used by users of the Ancient Belka system, their AI is less sophisticated then an intelligent Devices. They usually talk in broken or short phrases. They normally take the form of weapons, and speak German. The hall mark of these devices is the Cartridge system, defined below, used by them.

Cartridge System.

These are essentially blank bullets filled with mana that can be loaded in to devices with this system installed to temporally boost the mana out put of the wielder.

Modern Belka Devices, as you can guess, are used by Modern Belka system users. Like the system it is a combination this time of an Intelligent device and the Cartridge system. They speak in either English or German depending on the style the mage prefers.

Devices or very modifiable and most mages usually have multiple forms for them to adapt to different situations, or for different spells.

Barrier Jacket

http://nanoha.wikia.com/wiki/Barrier_Jacket

Barrier jackets (Knights armor or Knights clothing) are mage armor with multi-layered defenses spells that constantly take mana to maintain, heavier ones take more mana. They are usually cast on the activation of a device. They are designed by the mage usually upon the first time they activate their device. Like devices, they can have different forms allowing the mage to adapt to different situations. Without one a mage would not be able to survive combat.

Keep in mind there are always exceptions to things (even within the show and manga there is) so feel free to ask about things if you have an idea for something. Hiss, Acqui, or I should be able to answer it.

Tell me if I've done something horribly wrong. I don't really have an idea of what is "realistic," per se.

Afterwards she dons an elegant white dress with a single bow of the same colour at the neck. She wears white high heels to keep the colour theme but she hardly needs them, being almost 6 feet tall without them and proud of it, especially because she also takes care to keep a strong, athletic body for fear of being mistaken for a dainty aristocrat.

Barrier Jacket:

Alice wears plated armour, a breastplate, gauntlets and greaves that bears her family coat of arms, a tree bare of leaves with branches that interweaves upward rather than sprouting outwards. The metal of the armour is an eerily bright white that offers no reflection to those that look at it.

When active Titania has two forms, one as a standard staff that launches powerful beams from the tip. The second form is where Titania splits into 4 drone-like sub units that Alice can direct and fire less powerful beams from. These drones can also be used to create a barrier although this requires at least 3 of them in a triangle or 4 in a quadrilateral formation to do so. The barrier is weaker with only 3.

Background: The Twixton family were once a proud noble family when England was still under an aristocracy as opposed to the democracy the country enjoys today. Nowadays the family lives in splendour due to the wealth they maintained over the ages as they make money by investing in a variety of different businesses and corporations.

Sorry if that backstory is off, I'm completely unfamiliar with the lore and there's so much of the wiki I just took a straight shot with the backstory hoping this would be acceptable.

Alright. Since rusty is not on at the moment, I'll do my best to help out with the character apps.

@Murdoc:

Nothing seems off at first or second glance, though I do question the decision to not add a Cartridge System to your device but that's up to you in the end.

@Bfroger6

The main issue with Familiars is that they are entirely a separate entity and personality. We have only seen two Familiars throughout the course of the series (Arf and Lynith) and both are heavily autonomous and capable of independent action with their own set of skills and personality. It's the same reason rusty avoided bringing Unison Devices into the equation.

@Dobbs

While I get the logic behind Force, unfortunately, that is not available in-series as a possible mana conversion affinity. Only two conversion affinities exist in the canon: fire (thermal energy) and lightning (electrical energy). Funny enough, the idea of converting mana to kinetic energy and such was something similar to what one of the TSAB's contractors, Caledfwlch Techniques, had used for the development of AEC Armaments...but that's something that was developed after the time point in which the RP is set.

Minor issue is that most people with the exception of close relatives of TSAB agents are unaware even of the existence of magic, let alone the TSAB. Hell, both Nanoha and Gil Graham encountered magic due to pure coincidence and Hayate because of the fact that she was chosen by a cosmic horror-esque magical artifact to be its next victim. I'm not sure how well the backstory would fly so, you'd have to defer to rusty's judgement (or Acqui) on this.

Okay, okay! Time to start this!

Name: Theotman Elvan "Dave" Davies

Gender: Male

Age: 21

Appearance: 175 cm tall, weighing 119 kg, it is no surprise that Dave isn't really skinny.

His Barrier Jacket, or actually, Knight Armor, is a dark grey undershirt and black pants, adorned with brown straps across his body, all connected to the belt around his waist, while his left arm is where Beisrydd, his device, materializes in its active form.

Active: In its active form, Beisrydd encases Dave's body in the form of additional armor in the mode called the Panzerplatte. The armor is a brilliant shining knight's armor on his shoulders, legs and joints, also covering the upper part of the ear it once stood engraved in in the form of a silver earring. The Panzerplatte mode was additionally implemented into Beisrydd, replacing the Schild mode and to provide better barrier and shield control as well as better protection. The core of the device is on his right hand in the form of a silver gauntlet, adorned with the cross visible on the Belka style magic circles. The cartirdge system is lcated in the gauntlet.

There is one more mode for Beisrydd, and that is the Breitschwert, or Claymore, in English. It is a huge 4 m long, two handed obsidian sword with the cartridge system installed on its upper side around the hilt. Dave has difficulty wielding it for combat, and even more so because this mode sacrifices his defense in order to be able to materialize the huge sword.

Background: Born in Northern Midchilda into an ages long bloodline of proud and mighty Belkan knights, Dave had been raised strictly since his infancy to follow in the footsteps of his predcessors and serve the Church as one of the knights.

This adittude of Dave's brought forth the rage of his father and many arguments ensued, some of which ended in actual fist to fist combat, where Dave was, of course, always overpowered.

Maybe it was the hunger, or he was just fueled by his anger towards his father, but he signed up, using Beisrydd to demostrate his prowess with magic, and they accepted him as a recruit. He demostrated the vast knowledge of history and other subject he earned throughout the years of studying, but he also dmostrated his lazyness and disrespect towards the authority. Several times he tried slashing off the part of his ear which encased Beisrydd, but the protective magic around it never let him. He also tried wielding some of the Midchildan Intelligent Devices just to get rid of Beisrydd, but he could never synchronize with them properly. One night, after around a year of struggling with the Bureau and almost getting himself kicked out on several occassions, he ended up accepting his current state of things. It came like a sort of illumination, a sudden realization, erhaps because he was no longer a child. He came to drop the senseless grudge against any and all authority figures and came to accept Beisrydd, actually starting to feel thankful that the device had always been there for him. He became exceptionally dilligent, slowly gaining reputation in the Bureau and he even went and got an upgraded mode for Beisrydd (something he never wanted to do because he just wanted to ditch the thing), obtaining 'Cutom Mode: Panzerplatte' on his device. He specialized in defense magic and reached the level of it that nobody could look over.

Actually, he was that good with defense that they picked him out for a special unit, the Task Force Buster 3 at the age of 21, mere 4 years after joining ~

NOTE: Done!!!

Got it, I have no issues with changing the force thing or the backstory. It just wasn't really explained quite how you get a character involved with this : p. Any ideas on just how to do that?

NOTE: still wip ~ Since I lack knowledge past A's, I'm gonna contact you to see if my backstory is okay considering that my device is an Ancient Belkan Armed Device, but I don't wanna be part of that Church thing.

It's rare but it's still possible. As long as it sounds believable, it will work~

There are a lot of ways. The character does not necessarily have to come from Earth. There are multiple Administrated Planets such as Vaizen, Midchilda, and Calnarog for example.

Basically, find some way to get your character to become a soldier at the TSAB have them recognized by the higher ups putting the task force together.

However, if the character does come from a non-administrated world like Earth, there should be some reason as to why they are able to use magic.

Geez, I missed Hiss's first post ><

And why I was asking about familiars was cuz I thought it would be fun to maybe make a character which is a Familiar, if everyone agreed. Although that would also require having one of the mages agree to take the role of the Familiar character's master/maker. I dunno, I feel like intruding too much by even proposing such a thing, because I'm merely one of the players... :/

Could I get an example of a reason aside from sheer coincidence? I'd like to keep the noble motif without having to hunt down a world that is compatible in the verse.

I actually can't think of any example aside from sheer coincidence actually. Ever since 10 years before StrikerS, TSAB agents have likely been stationed over earth. So, agents have at least been on earth for at least a good ten years. (Hell, Gil Graham, who retired from the TSAB after A's was from Britain) If your character ends up somehow releasing mana for some reason, some agents would likely notice and investigate. That could work.

Geez, I missed Hiss's first post ><

If you really want your PC to have a familiar, I would say PM rusty. No harm in asking, right?

I believe I've fixed my character profile although I have to ask if my character seems sueish. I never liked the constant trope of "Evil noble" or "Glory seeker" but now I have to wonder if a kind noblewoman doesn't seem a bit too Nice, as is the way of the mary sue.

Well, mine is basically a combination of two previous characters and given a set of mahou shounen powers.

EDIT: How much will we be able to modify our Devices through the story? I have a few ideas for stuff to add, but it might be a bit much to start with them.

Yay Hiss handled most of everything for me but i will still put my thoughts

@Adamance(Murdoc). Your character looks fine however. If your character was part of the AAS then he probably wouldn't have much problem with flight well unless its Maneuverability. If he was part of the Ground Forces that would make a bit more sense.

EDIT: How much will we be able to modify our Devices through the story? I have a few ideas for stuff to add, but it might be a bit much to start with them.

Funny you should ask a was going to say something. There will be a few parts(One or two) where everyone will be able to modify theur Devices or make a new form for it. Trust me your going want to take the time to do that when it comes up.

@Bfroger i will deal with you in the PM's....

@Dobby after the changes there doesn't seem to be any big problems but a very minor nit pick is that for your character's Barrier Jacket its basically armor. Which is very unusual for any mage especially a MId-Childa Mage which need a bit more maneuverability.in some of the more close range fighters is where you would see a few bits of armor never full on suits. also its kind of called a Jacket for a reason. like I said its very minor and i could be wrong.

@Hiss thank you for jumping in well i was gone.

Name: Liliana Gottlieb
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Appearance: Light blue hair with fire red eyes. short in stature, bears Western European features with thin lips and pale skin.

Everyday clothing: Wears the traditional nun's attire of the Saint Church.

Barrier Jacket: Duelists' attire; An undershirt covered by a ceremonial long-sleeved jacket, paired with tight, fitting pants, a leather belt, flat shoes, gloves and a wide-brimmed blue fedora. The jacket's design is an overlay of teal and lime green, with a line of golden buttons running from the left shoulder to the right side of the waist. The left shoulder is adorned by a golden pauldron, and the tapered pants are teal as well.

Personality: Serious, does not really joke around, tends to take everything at face value. Rarely smiles, and when she does, it is never in spite or contempt. Has a deep love of flowers.

Magic System used: Ancient Belka

Mana Conversion Affinity (if any): Fire

Color of Magic Circle: Teal

Device Name: Eleganz

Device Appearance:

Device Mode: A thin rapier about a metre long.

Sealed mode: Same as Device mode, but miniaturised to the size of a rosary cross, worn on a chain around the neck.

In her mind, the rush of the duel took precedence over the teachings of the Church, a fact which she herself realised, and which caused her plenty of personal conflict.

DONE \o/ Well I'm not too happy with the backstory tbh, but there's not enough canonical info available about the Saint Church to make a more elaborate one ;A;

Actually, Vice and Alto were both part of the Capital Air Force's Transportation Unit so it's not entirely inconceivable. Though Vice and Alto are special exceptions.

From the Wiki

Transportation Group (運輸部 Unyu Bu): Vice Granscenic and Alto Krauetta are assigned to its 2nd Squad (第2班 Dai Ni Han) before transferring to Riot Force 6.

@Hiss thank you for jumping in well i was gone.

No prob. Though I was a bit worried that it may seem like I was hijacking the thread. XD

Glad to see that isn't the case.

I've always wanted to see more canon info about the Church, the origins of the TSAB (seeing as it is relatively young) and more about the Sankt Kaiser Reunification War...I can only hope we'll see more some day.

I'll probably have it be "straight lines and slow maneuvers are fine, tighter acrobatic stuff needs a lot of work" then. As in, trying to maneuver too fast might just result in free tumbles.

okay that sounds good.

I can only hope. Vivid has shown us bits and pieces of Old Belkan History but we never really got the full story.

Force is getting me intrigued in the origin of the EC Infection but the series went on hiatus literally two chapters after the name "Seed of the Origin" was mentioned for the first time. :/
