Masquerain Posted June 2, 2015 Share Posted June 2, 2015 Saphira most certainly didn't strike me as anything unusual until I saw that she's willing to be ruthless and brutal to achieve what she wants. While she mercilessly slays Meteors, can you really judge her? Yes, she killed Tara, but don't Meteors also take lives? Can we really judge her actions? Well, while murder is never right, I'm sure her past is ridden with a bleakness that left a void in her heart. Like I said, Meteors also take lives. That dood sure didn't have any qualms sucking out a soul from Eclipse with his Chandelure. In a battle where one side is willing to murder, I can't really judge Saphira for her methods. Myst Posted June 2, 2015 Share Posted June 2, 2015 I enjoy how far she'll go to protect whats most important to her, and that really defines her as a character. Murder isnt a good thing no, but life isnt always so peachy. When youre at war who knows what you have to do to protect yourself or another. I honestly have no idea, but i can imagine the decisions to be rough. Not like she doesnt feel anything at all. If you kill someone, theres no promises that you wont regret doing so. It may have been to protect something else, but you still have blood on your hands now. That doesnt sit to well with everyone, even if they seem to appear strong. iowayshay Posted June 2, 2015 Share Posted June 2, 2015 Lol, the magazine thing is super cheeky, I think it's hilarious. It definitely doesn't fit in though. Like, even though its allegedly sitting on a table in thier house, i still don't think of it as real. Like, there's not really a Dragon Tamer Monthly magazine in Reborn, and if it is it's not porn, and if it is porn, I genuinely cannot see Saphira ever participating in something like that. It just doesn't suit her character at all. If anything I see the magazine as sort of breaking the fourth wall for the sake of a joke, and I'm honestly fine with that. lol. But overall, I love Saphira's character, I'm super excited to learn more about her, i feel like right now were only getting that one fiercely protective dimension of her, but there's DEFINITELY room for so much more depth there and I'm hyped. BIGJRA Posted June 2, 2015 Share Posted June 2, 2015 Something that struck me when I was playing my 4th run was that, when I picked the events that lead to Saphira being captured, Laura didn't kill any guards in Tanzan nor destroyed the gates to get in. Honestly the only way it gives you a false idea of her is if you let your imagination go wild and create a faux-worldbuilding daydream. Also, you're trying to put these comic reliefs in the context of the actual plot/character development even when they're not meant to. I mean, if Saphira modeling for a magazine was an element of characterization, then there are apparently people in Reborn City who play LoL all day while their home is getting destroyed.
