Official Gym Leader Help Thread

Hi, looking for some help with Florinia's gym. My current team is:

Lvl 36 Blastoise

Lvl 28 Arbok

Lvl 26 Sunkern

Lvl 29 Musharna

Lvl 26 Liepard

Lvl 32 Meteo

Obviously, the fact that all my Pokémon are above lvl 25 is a pretty big issue, since they don't always obey me, but this was the only way I could find to beat Fern. I even had to remove Cherubi from my original party and replace it with the Meteo because Fern's Roselia was such a problem that I felt I needed a fire type move to deal with it. I'm willing to change my team if necessary. I was kind of banking on my Blastoise being key to winning this battle, but he seems fairly useless in my attempts thus far. Thanks!

Your team is surely good enough for the gym, especially with meteo setting up sun and arbok. Musharna can also beat breloom no problem. Just buy common candies and level them down to lvl 25 and you’ll be fine.

i can stop the reuniclus and malamar by using ninetales and sandslash, flinching reuniclus with either iron head or icicle crash and using nasty plot on ninetales. the malamar superpowers sandslash and i use iron head and dazzling gleam to beat of them on the next turn. Then he sends out slowking and metagross, and somehow metagross outspeeds my ninetales. how?? am i missing something? my ninetales's speed is

200(225 ev and 21iv and a timid nature ) and the metagross has 85evs and 31 ivs on speed. theres no way it can outspeed my ninetales. how???

Check the field notes for chess board, it’s because his metagross is assigned as king, which increases all its moves’ priority by 1.

Hey all, need help with my hail team for Radomus. Noticed a fair few were decently slow so Trick Room would help me decently well. Only one with a fairly fast speed is the first mon on the team. I mean, I have a more balanced team I normally use, but I can't KO Malamar AND Renic on the opening turn.

Team as is currently:
A-Ninetales - Snow Warning - Modest - 252 Special Atk/252 HP/6 Def
Aurora Veil
Mist
Dazzling Gleam
Ice Beam
--------------------
Aurorus - Refrigerate - Bold - 252 Defense/252 Special Atk/6HP
Echoed Voice
Ice Beam
Hyper Beam
Thunder Wave
--------------------
Abomasnow - Snow Warning - Adamant - 252 Atk/252 HP/6 Special Def
Wood Hammer
Blizzard
Ingrain
Ice Punch
--------------------
Glalie - Moody - Modest - 252 Special Atk/252 Def/6HP
Ice Fang
Freeze Dry
Frost Breath
Protect
--------------------
Vanilluxe - Ice Body - Calm -252 Sp. Def/252 Special Atk/6HP
Taunt
Ice Beam
Avalanche
Hail
--------------------
Avalugg - Ice Body - Bold - 252 Def/252 HP/6 Atk
Rapid Spin
Curse
Recover
Blizzard

Trash it. Find a different ground type that can learn stomping tantrum. Only that move, in addition to Tectonic Rage and Splintered Stormshards can get rid of the field.

So unless the plan is to learn how the chess board works, you're better off destroying the field entirely. Golurk helps a little with that (not that there's many options with learning it through level up, as there are a grand total of 8 pokemon as of SuMo/USUM), though I recommend trick room first. Use that, destroy the field, and bulldoze Radomus with your pokemon.

I honestly went in there with a slow Trick Room Dusclops and Contrary Serperior and would set trick room to counter it when he did. I kept the Malomar alive since it kept attacking Clops while Serp set up and basically swept the team.

Try sending out kricketune on the first round and use sticky web. Because of the enemy’s magic coat, sticky web will bounce back and your next mons will get their speed lowered instead. Under trick room, bam now you are faster than the enemy! Additionally make musharna your king and boost with calm mind. Maybe that should work?
