  1. "I mean... Same. We both have that side of us. But you aren't scared of me, right? And I'm not scared of your temper... It's something people in our country struggle with. The fact that you know that and don't want to let it control you makes you heaps better than your dad already as far as I'm concerned."
  2. "Well, I mean, you aren't your father, are you? You have to understand, the people don't know you at all. So while there will be the whole scared of royalty thing as a general practice thing... I don't think they'll hold your father against you. I mean, I didn't. I don't see why they would either. You're different from your father. They'll be able to see that. Just like the rest of the people will. Maybe the throne doesn't have to be suffocating... You'll be different from your father, so maybe it won't weigh so heavy on you then."
  3. "Yeah... Unless we completely change how our government works, there will be a power vacancy if you don't come home eventually. Which will lead to all the nobles fighting to try and take the throne..." She knew that there was no point in trying to argue about killing his father. Realistically, if he thought it was for the best, she wouldn't be able to dissuade him of it. But she could at least try and make him face his destiny face on. "I'm sure my parents would love to meet you though. They might fall over themselves if they find out that you're a prince, but you would get some amazing cooking from my mom either way."
  4. Mim couldn't help the small giggle that escaped as Sid named the lance but quickly smoothed her face into a more serious look. "Thank you Sid, it's very nice. And I'm sure it will do a great job in combat. I appreciate all the work that you put into this." She gave him a pat on his shoulder and then slung the spear into a holder she had attached to her backpack. Giving him a smile, she wandered over to Crimson and gently tugged his jacket sleeve. "We'll be ok, right? We're going home but... It's not for a fun reunion. I wish I could take you to meet my family, but I know that's not why we're going. We've... We've got a job to do. Even if we also both have emotions bundled up in all of this. Right?"
  5. "I love you too, Lucy. Now just keep on relaxing. Things will be ok." She turned towards Baldur and sighed. "She'll be ok. But you really should have warned her. Even if she is old enough to drink it, you still shouldn't have let her do it without knowing. As for you having alcohol right now at all... We'll talk about that later. Alone." There was a promise there. A very worrying, threatening promise, but a promise.
  6. "You absolutely could have said no. Or said, 'Sorry Lucy, there's alcohol in this one. Are you ok with that or do you want to wait until I make you a new one'. And fine. If you're ok running away while she needs help, be a coward and go tell Kane you're leaving." She was mad. Her tony was as icy as her homeland and then she abruptly turned her back on Baldur and knelt down by Lucy, a soft smile appearing on her face as if she had completely changed moods. "Hey now. Hey. Lucy. Come here, look at me. You're fine. You don't deserve anything bad. You escaped from a terrible situation in an attempt to try and save your brother from his path. That's to be admired, not shamed. There was just a miscommunication here. Stop crying, it will be ok." She gently stroked Lucy's hair, hoping to either calm her down or maybe even get her to fall asleep for a little.
  7. Oh, heat stroke. Ok. They hadn't been out that long, but maybe she just wasn't used to the sun after having worn that cloak for so long. "Ok, well, I think that's best treated with fluids. So, lets give her some of your drink as a quick fix and then..." And then Lucy spoke up. And that was not the reaction of heat stroke. No, Mim knew exactly what was going on now. She crossed her arms, drew herself to her full, very unintimidating height, and glared at Baldur. "You gave her alcohol. And you didn't tell her what was in it? Were you trying to get her drunk? What are you even doing drinking? It's not even that late in the day, do you really need to drink just to be around us? And again, what were you thinking giving her alcohol without telling her about it?"
  8. Mim had been enjoying the water, but she had turned back to see what the rest of the group was up to just in time to see Lucy throw up. She immediately started heading back to the beach, with a quick apology to Fey. "Sorry, I need to go check on Lucy..." Quickly arriving at the group, she knelt down next to Lucy, and glared up at Baldur. "What happened? Why is she sick?"
  9. Mim paused, then tossed her hat onto Fey and dove into the water completely. She had thankfully had the foresight to remove her other clothing besides the swimsuit, but perhaps she should have left the hat back as well. Too late for that now. She resurfaced with a huge grin on her face. "It's so nice! Maybe a little cool, but nothing compared to the snow. And when combined with the heat... I could stay here forever and be happy I think."
  10. Mim was delighted. She couldn't believe everything she was seeing. The pale sand glittering in the sun, the bright blue ocean reflecting the rays like diamonds, everything was so much better than she could have ever dreamed. Giggling, she grabbed Fey's arm and pulled her forward into the ocean. Splashing in to her waist, which left the other woman still relatively dry, she gushed, "Oh Fey, it's perfect! How could you have ever left the ocean if it's as beautiful as this?"
  11. The two girls quickly found the towels, a nice healthy selection. Mim grabbed the first big one she found, a simple grey one, and wrapped it around her own body. "Here, see, like this. I'll get this one, you get one you like, and we'll match. That way you won't stand out at all. Does that work?"
  12. It was a good thing that Crimson was no longer paying attention to Mim, because he would have seen her deflate slightly as the back and forth between him and Justine started. So this is how it was. She should have known. It made sense too. Justine was so pretty and talented, of course Crimson would fall for her. She had been stupid to go back to thinking that maybe her crush could turn into something more. Lucy. That's who she needed to focus on right now. Pulling her smile back up, she turned to the other girl. "Yes, exactly that. They should have some on the other side of the store, away from all the clothes. Why don't we go look for one that you like?" Time to get away, signal the retreat. She could admit when she had lost, right?
  13. Mim had the perfect idea to help Lucy's problem. Putting her leg back down, she gestured over to the other side of the story. "If you're just looking for something to cover up between here and the beach, why not grab a towel? You can drape it over your shoulders until we get to the beach and then use it to sit on instead of the sand! From what I've heard and read about the beach, that's what a lot of people do."
  14. Mim let the boys enjoy the surprise of Lucy, though they seemed to be fighting between the two of them over something. She let her eyes wander and spotted two cute anklets with ruffled cloth and some fake pearls. She picked them up, along with a cute wrapped bracelet. They would complete her outfit perfectly. And then... There, perfect. All of a sudden, a pair of amethyst swim trunks flew over Lucy's head and smacked Bladur in the face. "Good outfit choice, but you're gonna need those in case you decide to remove the stick from your butt and join the rest of us in the ocean. Now, stop bickering you two and just enjoy a relaxing day. Oh Lucy, I know you found that clasp, but if you want anything else, they have a good selection over there. I found these cute anklets, look!" She held her leg out so that that could all see the news addition to her outfit.
  15. Mim reached out and gave Lucy's shoulder a light squeeze. "If you keep this up, you're going to need a new codename. Though I think we should get you one anyways. Something cute to match you." With that, she darted off to find the boys. She quickly spotted them, and waved them over. "Come on you two. Time to go tell Lucy how great she looks. And you better be nice, or else."
  16. Too tight? Had she picked the wrong size? Well it seemed like at least one fit so they could work off of that at least. When she came out of the changing room, Mim couldn't help the gasp that escaped. "Oh Lucy! You look so beautiful! You're going to have those boys with their jaws on the floor for sure. As for showing too much skin, you absolutely aren't, but if you aren't comfortable, we can either get you a new one or we can get you a wrap or shawl sort of like my vest to help cover a bit more. But you really do look great. Do you want me to go grab the boys? I bet Baldur can't wait to see you." She giggled after that last line. The two of them were going to be fun to tease she suspected... There were probably no major feelings or anything, but the teasing was still fun.
  17. "Oh don't worry! There are changing rooms right over there. You can go in and lock the door so no one can come in unless you let them. It's all very safe."
  18. Meanwhile, the girls were busy looking through options. Mim had at least five pieces draped over her arm. A couple single piece outfits of varying styles, as well as two two piece outfits. She had her hopes pinned on one, but she wanted Lucy to be the one who chose. "Ok! This is probably a good place to start, you think? Any of these options drawing your eye? I do think you should try on a couple before you make a decision. And then once you find the one you like the most we can grab the guys?"
  19. Mim excitedly grabbed Lucy's hand. "Come on Lucy! Let's go find you a great suit. Crimson, Baldur, you two go find your own outfits. When we need you to come tell Lucy how great she looks, I'll find you."
  20. "Mmm, no, sorry, you aren't getting away that easily. Sorry Baldur, but you're stuck with us. Leader's orders, we're all coming along and that means you need a swimsuit. Even if I have to drag you along myself."
  21. Mim had been planning on explaining swimming more, but Baldur had that covered and she also had way more important things to rant about now. That brother... "That... Ugh! I can't believe him. Sure, he's worried about what a boy might do, so he punishes his sister. Of course he couldn't just talk to the other guy about it. Nooo, he had to force you to cover up so that his precious partner wouldn't be tempted. Even though from what you've said, Famine views you more like a little sister than anything. No, it's wrong for a girl to show any skin because what about the boys? Can't distract the boys! Well, fuck that! You should get to wear whatever you want to wear! Something that's cute, something that makes you feel good about yourself, something that you like! And if any boys bother you or make you feel uncomfortable, they'll deal with me. They're the creeps, they're the ones who should be punished, not you!"
  22. Mim paused for a second before letting go of Crimson's hand and walking over to Lucy, throwing an arm around her shoulder. "Oh, hun... Yes, it's an outfit to wear to the beach, or if you're going to go swimming. It's made of material made to handle water without getting extra heavy, so that you can swim without issue. It also won't pull away or bunch up in the same way that normal clothes would. Plus a lot of them are super cute. Like mine! We'll get you something that looks great, while still letting you be comfortable, so that you can have the best time possible. Right Baldur?" She shot a quick glare at Baldur. This was no longer just about making sure he came to the beach too. This was about making sure Lucy had the best possible time she could.
  23. Mim was about to say something in retort to the man ignoring her comments when she spotted Lucy out of the corner of her eye. A mischievous grin snuck onto her face and she called out, "Oh! Lucy! Perfect timing~ Come on over here. We were just talking about our group heading to the beach and how wonderful it would be to have you along. I was thinking you probably don't have a swimsuit after everything you've been through, so what I was thinking was that you, me, Crimson, and Baldur could all go shopping for outfits together, since neither of the boys have a swimsuit either. Would you like that?"
  24. "Nu-uh. It's nice to have boys along to tell you if things look good! Like how I asked Crimson. Right Crimson? And you're not her chaperon. You're her friend! You would get to tell her how cute she is. Cause you do think she's cute, right? So you could help boost her confidence! I'll ask her if she wants you along though, that's easy enough~ You're still coming to the beach either way though. You need to relax. Even if you just lay out on a chair in the sun all day, you're coming along."
  25. "Well... She clearly feels safe around you. If you hadn't noticed. I think you talking with her and being nice to her really helped her feel like she could be ok here. I mean, obviously I already welcomed her, but having someone else... especially someone that is so strongly against the Icons of Sin treat her like a person, I think that helped. A lot. She's so nervous all the time, I think having someone she's comfortable with along would help a lot! Especially since shopping for a swimsuit can be embarrassing sometimes. Or was I wrong? Do you not want to help make her more comfortable around here? Because it seemed like you did..."
