I'm not annoyed by it, you misunderstood me. I'm annoyed that we don't have, say, custom HMs so that we can use that stuff too. I'd love to surf on a Muk, make Ice ladders and similar stuff. Hell, the Ice ladder could serve as Rock Climb! I'd just like a smarter version of MC, even with dialog and many choices.

Ah, I see... I used Female one too in my first run. But Male is much better! Well, have a rotation of about 10 'mons, instead of trying to solo run with only 6. Then pick the most suitable ones for every fight. It will be much easier.
-
Meowstic has Reflect, Light Screen and Prankster (if Male), so it can set up quite easily! Also, you gotta try to find an opening to setup. Get enemy to red HP, then (while he/she heals up), use that turn to set up. In my Bug mono, it was all about getting one Tailwind up in so many fights! Or a Rain Dance, or Water Sport, or Dual Screens. If you go and Calm Mind with Meowstic in the face of a Gengar, or a Bisharp, of course it will OHKO you. Gotta find the timing to do it. Cherrim would benefit from Dual Screens and Sunny Day, if you could set them up with Meowstic and Eelektross.

You actually only need strategy to defeat Reborn. @Vhandrake did it solely with the 'mons that have a special item. Clamperl, Marowak, Ditto, Pikachu, Chansey and Farfetch'd. And lots of others have run monotypes on this, including myself. If you are the type of trainer that likes brute-forcing your way through a game, it will be hard. So, I'd suggest you go for normal difficulty, if Reborn seemed THAT difficult to you. If you see it's easy, "His name is Luck and he doesn't give a.... crap!"

Which she didn't use to save that Oshawott for some weird reason! I guess it is solely to make ladders, not bridges as well. xD

Poison Monotype run of Reborn (Latest Defeated Leader: Amaria)

I raged a bit when Ash tried to catch a wild Deerling without battling it first to weaken it down. Of course, it deflected the ball, and he never caught it. So, I missed the chance to see my favourite Pokemon starring in the anime series. I'll never forgive Ash for this. Also, James is awesome. Funny, a tad evil, but not enough to hate him, and highly sentimental. Had a lot of fun and emotional moments with his life-flashbacks!- 461 replies

True. Is there an age limit after which you become a criminal? I'm also annoyed, as @FairFamily said, that Cain can Slime Surf on a Muk (wtf, my Muk was defective and couldn't do this), he can use his Nidoking to break Agate's gate (wtf, my Nidoking was defective too and couldn't do this) and Saphira's been constantly using the "Metal bar-door tear" HM with his Dragonite at Tanzan Mountain, which I presume is a Steel type HM we will get at lvl. 100. Also, some more crossroads and choices implemented for the player would decrease the feeling of helplessness I felt when I saw them making stupid decisions. But I understand that scripting it is VERY troublesome and time-consuming, as it includes coding separate paths. Regardless, it is much, much better in character development and story than all of the original games and most (if not all) of the fangames. So, props to the developing team, and mostly Ame for that.

The last week I played random battles in Gen VII. My team had Jirachi and Roserade as its best 'mons. And I had t face a Mega Salamence and a Buzzwole. As you can understand, I didn't count on my luck for anything for the rest of that day. @RhythmMelody I actually respect Ash. Good strategist, with a moral compass and supportive. Battling-wise, his decisions aren't always the best, but they are the best if you consider your 'mons to have feelings. He's a great character imho.- 461 replies

Yes, I agree. To be honest, I'm not familiar with the "ace" pokemon definition, mostly because I enjoy having everyone in the spotlight at some point. There are fights when a Volcarona will be useless and it will get carried by a level 1 Paras. (I've actually done that) This is what I dislike about competitive battling. When I'm trying stuff and wanna have fun and hit 5 tryhards in a row with the entire collection of legendaries. Where's the fun in winning like that? Brute force, zero thinking. Just outspeed and spam your best attack. Anime is really underrated imo. It was the thing that inspired the field effects. And it needs to get more credit about that!- 461 replies

Vaporeon, Umbreon, Diggersby as well as Absol and Mawile are good enough to be permanent members in a squad. And Vaporeon can easily be an Ace, as a bulky wall that hits hard.- 461 replies

I was in no way "pressuring" Amethyst in creating gender balance. I just stated an imbalance that personally bothers me throughout the game. I think everyone is allowed to express questions and productively criticise a game. Amethyst herself has said so, and I know she wouldn't be offended by this. And, of course, I know that this imbalance was not intentional. After all, a person like Ame who has included non-binary gender in her game would never do anything even remotely sexist. I don't think this happens subconsciously in Ame's mind, but in the entire society. Women are always guided by their weaknesses and men by their denial to show their weaknesses. And this is something that should change, in order to achieve true gender equality at some point. Because not all women are helpless before their weaknesses, nor all men refuse to show their weaknesses/cry and accept them. The fact that almost all women (apart from Titania and Saphira) are affected inwards by their past and weaknesses, while most men do express aggressiveness and/or delinquence (sometimes to the extreme), is on itself a stereotype. In reality, many men become introverts as a result of school bullying and many women are themselves the culprits of delivering this school bullying. I'd like to see this pattern breaking at some point in this game, and see some guy giving useful advice, like what Charlotte says about not succumbing to blackmailing, or how Anna says that when moments aren't appropriate is when it is the most needed to smile and be cheerful. I'd love to see Hardy or Samson give similar advice, instead of being stereotypical "men", that don't think and get carried away by emotions, approaching everything with the Rock-solid, Fighting-oriented approach. We could use some more female criminals in Team Meteor though... I don't think it would put a dent in society's image of "fragile, men-victimised" woman.

I'm sorry to say, but you're in Fern category now Starter is the ace of the squad. The first buddy. Except for the case of custom runs, when sometimes a starter doesn't fit the theme.- 461 replies

@FairFamily So, out of the women, the only jerks are Terra, and the murdering duo (Titania and Saphira). And Lin of course. 4 out of 19. Or 6 out of 19, counting Eve and Lumi too. Percentage: ~32% Cain's was a dick move, but not illegal. He wouldn't be imprisoned for not accepting the reserve position. Out of men, we have "questionable" ones, as: 11 out of 17, counting Zero too. Percentage: ~65%. I just don't find it fair.
-
These two (I suspect Radomus is related to Anna and Noel too. Why he insisted on keeping the Amethyst pendant) and DJ Arclight. Only ones 100% good. On the contrary, we have 100% good female characters: Victoria, Amaria, Aya, Charlotte, Ciel, Florinia, Julia, Kiki, Luna, Serra, Shelly, Anna, Heather, Laura. It is hugely unbalanced in favour of females. None of these has commited a single crime, or has performed ANY questionable actions. Heather was being a brat, but nothing illegal with that! But men? Let's see... Cain: Great guy, but with feminine attributes as well. I'll accept him, since I also counted Amaria in the good female characters! (No sexism here, pls don't hate me) Fern: No comment on him. BAD. Adrienn: is neither male nor female. Corey: was a Meteor (for whatever reasons, he was a criminal) Hardy: No brains, let's just get overcome by emotion and bruteforce everything! If POWAAAH doesn't help, we're donezo. Great guy, but dumb. Noel: At last a smart good guy! You're the hope kid! Radomus: IS THERE GOD?! Second in a row! Samson: Hardy category. At least he was smart enough to lock Terra in PC. I accept him as well! Shade: Not a man, ghost rather Arc: Great guy and clever, hands down, he's awesome Bennett: Fern category, with enhanced cringe levels. Blake: Fern with Ice Cal: murderer with remorse El: fanatic lunatic freak Sigmund: insane doctor Sirius, Zero, Solaris: criminals Taka: shadow helper of us, not enough balls to withdraw from Team Meteor. (even though it's convenient to us).

I really wanted a Physical Bulbasaur with Curse bred on it in my Poison run. But couldn't say goodbye to Narcissus and box him. I guess I experienced feelings that Fern hasn't ever felt!- 461 replies

@Wolfox Yes, Cain is great, why I said straight guys... Sorry for that, lol! I only just realised that just a handful of guys without feminine attributes are 100% good (not "slips" like Cal or Corey, even if plot elements justify them, or give them the chance to redeem themselves). @HongaarseBeer Shade is a cool entity/ghost. I... I would not call him a man! Not in his current state at least!
-
Why in Pokemon Reborn almost all straight male characters are either dumb and try to bruteforce things (e.g. Hardy, Samson) or criminals/jerks (e.g. Fern, Sirius, Solaris, Corey)? Isn't this sliiiightly stereotypical towards men?

You can't really softreset for Wingull. Gotta start the game again. Which I'd never do (maybe I'd do it for Pachi instead of Ziggy, even though I like both). I've got traumatic experiences from his Roserade at Route 1. This thing can outspeed anything that speed-ties or is slightly faster than it. Also, how thefuck did Fern's Budew not know Extrasensory, but his Roserade does... But again, he is the kind of guy who would abandon his starter after breeding a stronger version of it. Who EVER does that to his/her starting companion?!- 461 replies

I agree that you can defeat Julia with Marshtomp. However, I don't really like any Water starter apart from Froakie and Oshawott (and Popplio, which is unavailable yet), and they don't really stand a chance vs Julia. Froakie can, with Protean, but isn't really tanky/strong early. Yes, Lightningrod Goldeen is a must as well. Wingull might be Panpour actually (depends on RNG, similar to the Pachirisu/Zigzagoon quest). And Ducklett is unavailable pre-Julia and Slums, so you'd have to face Fern at least once without it. Also, vs Roselia neither Wingull nor Ducklett stand a chance. But even with manageable battles, I'd never do a Water run, cause I'd probably abandon it in the middle because of excessive boredom.- 461 replies

Aster is almost as scary as Orderly John now. Thanks! No idea! But I'd probably have issues with Water. Mostly because I find Water types a bit boring, and secondly, because I'd have issues with Fern, Julia and Florinia in early game to the point of wanting to quit. I think it would get easier from that point on, but being weak to Fern isn't something I'd be willing to do. You can catch a Skorupi in Byxbysion Wasteland.- 461 replies

Some say it depends on Ame's mood when she notices the question. Pray that she had a good day today!

Haha, don't worry. It's an inside joke of the forums that everytime this "forbidden" question is asked, Ame adds a week to the total wait for the release of the Episode.

Thanks! I always defeat her Garchomp the easy way. I had my full team (apart from Vileplume), so I could've defeated it legitimately as well. Like Spore it to sleep with Amoonguss, or Toxic stall it. But I always choose to defeat Terra's Garchomp that way. It is done solely for the purpose of disrespecting her. "Oh, you have an OP overlevelled shit in a field that makes it even more OP? Guess what. YOU HAVE NOTHING LEFT TO SWITCH INTO, SO BYE BYE TRASHCHOMP!" I was honestly expecting a Blizzard. But again, Terra was my opponent, so I'm not surprised she made a stupid decision. She isn't the smartest thing on (pokemon) Earth. I really enjoyed the Freeze hacks right when I was ready to give the finishing blow to his Milotic and defeat Aster. And the two consecutive critical hits in the next try. Pity he still lost, even with the crits being all on his favour. Seriously, he was about 10 thousand times more difficult to defeat than Terra.- 461 replies

Thanks Lykos The point in using Grassy Terrain was to check this bloody OP Sand Rush Excadrill that traditionally gives me trouble, because Grassy Terrain weakens Earthquake. If Grassy Terrain wasn't on, Victreebel would've died to Earthquake. And so would Nidoking and Tentacruel. My only misplay was that I forgot to give Vileplume an Amplified Rock before battle, and Grassy Terrain expired in 5 turns instead of 8. But it didn't really cost me, since Quagsire got destroyed and Garchomp was taken down in a very painless and cheap way, to match Terra's cheap personality.- 461 replies
