Hmm, a little surprising, given how common those two are in SandStall teams - but as long as you field this team competently, they'd be a little hard-pressed to hurt it XD Myself, I prefer Drain Punch on scrafty - helps stall if Shed Skin is slow.
-
That's assuming you get the chance to set up, or if you happen to kill an opponent's pokemon. I've seen quite a few HO teams run before - even if they were well-built and played, sometimes predictions went awry during setup, resulting in a loss. But yes, you'd be correct that even physical walls can't withstand +2 blows continuously. However, ones like quagsire ignore the stat boosts, so aside from breloom, the rest of the team may get walled by quagsire (similar case for skarmory, who walls breloom and can phase out set-ups if it survives a blow).
-
It does look hyper-offensive and decently so, but how does it fare against the likes of skarmory/quagsire? Your lack of special attacks could result in some walling by those two if they're fielded correctly, I think.
-
Close to why I nicknamed lucario that, but not exactly Thanks - but the team does seem to face problems against anything that sets up
-
Indeed - some trolls actually have decent teams Mostly copy/pasted teams without a peon of originality, but still... gah.

Hmm, I think my dying words would be something related to complex numbers. Or perhaps iterations. I wouldn't opt for last words as my epitaph, per say, but would rather opt for a symbol of some sort. See that circle with the dot in it at the bottom of the gravestone? In bushcraft, this symbol means 'Going home' or 'I have gone home'. I think that's meaningful enough for me :')

OUR EXAM REVISION THEME SONGS... Seriously, these are awesome for that little musical boost XD We do have a lot of them that we've actually burned to CD's to play when reading, but these two probably could vie for the top spots. Sableye would hello to sceptile, and promptly shut down your setup... While sceptile is good in doubles, its speed is somewhat lacking before Unburden kicks in. Hmm perhaps a Focus Sash is better on sceptile, and drop the Substitute. Once the Sash is used, sceptile gains the speed boost and still has the attack boost from any Swords Dances it may have used..
-
Hmm, latios as the fall-back is interestingly handy. Better than alakazam or Agiligross, as they usually tend to be, anyway.
-
@ Dominus - Haha, I don't blame you XD Themed teams are meant to be more thematically accurate than top-of-the-line competitive, anyway Copy/Paste error - fixed
-
Was thinking blaziken for the hair, with Swords Dance XD
-
Simple on archeops, perhaps?
-
Of late, there seem to be more people running specially offensive tyranitar, of all things :/
-
Hmm, now I get what you meant - haven't seen a Pursuit tyranitar in a while and so it slipped my mind... In that case, chandelure would be screwed, yes In sun, most tyranitar I've seen didn't survive the Solarbeam - perhaps the trends now favor less bulky tyranitars compared to the older Pursuit ones. Honestly, if there's something tricky about building teams, it would be that even EV's seem to follows trends, and so a workable set may need to be altered over time XD
-
Hmm, interesting indeed.
-
Umm, and how will tyranitar trap chandelure? Last I knew, chandy has Shadow Tag, not the other way around... Unless you meant tyranitar being sent in after chandelure revenge kills something (something not as easy to do with this particular team). A fire monotype basically gets trolled by Stealth Rock, barring Taunt, Magic Coat, and/or torkoal. And since blaziken also can handle heatran, I'm not intimidated by those
-
I prefer Dark Pulse - can hit normal types as well And if karma is good, that's some flinching right there ^^
-
Inspiration struck again after the Heartless/Nobodies teams Fire monotype, with all six pokemon featured as one major villain from the Final Fantasy series --- Chaos (Charizard) (M) @ Focus Sash Trait: Blaze EVs: 220 Atk / 112 Def / 56 SDef / 120 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Fire Punch - Earthquake - Rock Slide - Dragon Dance Yunalesca (Ninetales) (F) @ Air Balloon Trait: Drought EVs: 48 Def / 208 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Flamethrower - Energy Ball - Psyshock - Nasty Plot Kefka (Volcarona) (M) @ Lum Berry Trait: Flame Body EVs: 228 Def / 24 SAtk / 252 Spd Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Bug Buzz - Flamethrower - Hidden Power [ice] - Quiver Dance Necron (Chandelure) (M) @ Focus Sash Trait: Shadow Tag EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Flamethrower - Shadow Ball - SolarBeam - Sunny Day Gilgamesh (Magmortar) (M) @ Choice Scarf Trait: Vital Spirit EVs: 144 Def / 108 SAtk / 20 SDef / 236 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Flamethrower - Thunderbolt - Psychic - Hidden Power [Rock] Sephiroth (Blaziken) (M) @ Air Balloon Trait: Speed Boost EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Brick Break - Shadow Claw - Earthquake - Swords Dance --- A considerably standard fire monotype, that is probably unusual since it leads with a DD charizard. Chandelure's a source of backup sun in case of surprise opposing weather, and ninetales herself is a great offensive pokemon. You'll have to trap the opposing weather source, though. The unholy trinity of volcarona, blaziken, and Scarfed magmortar form the bulk of the team's offensive capability. Magmortar's a surprise Scarfed attacker, while the other two aren't that obscure in the fifth generation (hence I'll leave them description-less as is). This themed monotype was named more for appearance of the characters, so I guess you could easily see how it came about

[quote name='Bullet' timestamp='1331907899' post='28253'] Eh, I don't really like the Substitute on this set, as it really eschews your offensive ability. Also, Quagsire is slow enough that even some walls can slip in a Toxic before you have a chance to sub. I'd say you should probably run two attack moves instead. [/quote] It's reasonable, but if I'm going to leave quagsire in on something known for Toxic, I deserve to have it poisoned (and most Toxic users are quite standard)

NOBODIES Creeper (Infernape) (M) @ Focus Sash Trait: Blaze EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Fake Out - Flamethrower - Grass Knot - Hidden Power [ice] Dusk (Hitmonlee) (M) @ Normal Gem Trait: Unburden EVs: 96 Atk / 252 Def / 160 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Fake Out - Brick Break - Blaze Kick - Pursuit Saix (Lucario) (M) @ Focus Sash Trait: Inner Focus EVs: 116 Def / 20 SAtk / 116 SDef / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Vacuum Wave - Dark Pulse - Hidden Power [ice] - Nasty Plot Sorcerer (Scrafty) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Shed Skin EVs: 252 Def / 252 SDef Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Drain Punch - Crunch - Ice Punch - Dragon Dance Berserker (Conkeldurr) (F) @ Flame Orb Trait: Guts EVs: 120 HP / 136 Def / 252 SDef Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Mach Punch - Drain Punch - Rock Slide - Bulk Up Dancer (Medicham) (F) @ Choice Scarf Trait: Pure Power EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Drain Punch - Fire Punch - ThunderPunch - Ice Punch --- Hmm, so the Nobodies weren't named for resemblance so much as they were for form (e.g. scrafty has loose skin that resembles the sorcerer's billowing robes). A rather standard fighting team that has a mixture of speed, special/physical offense, some priority moves, and the ability to wreck ghosts if played right I'm not joking when I say that I might donate some Reborn Rupees - amount to be determined - to whoever is the first to tell me why I named the lucario Saix (without referring to any outside sources!) XD Honor system, people! Possible substitute for conkeldurr: Assassin (Machamp) (F) @ Lum Berry Trait: No Guard EVs: 76 Atk / 236 Def / 196 SDef Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - DynamicPunch - Stone Edge - Payback - Bullet Punch And that's it for tonight's theme squads (I find it ironically amusing that the Heartless/Nobody themes are protrayed by ghosts/fighters, respectively)
-
Two themed monotypes, that fit as Heartless and Nobodies from the Kingdom Hearts universe! And instead of having the individual logos here (the Heartless/Nobody logos are badass enough...), here's a former, somewhat active member's portrayal of the logos XD And yes, that is MasterShaper - used to hang around here and got the three of us into this insanity LOL --- HEARTLESS Shadow (Sableye) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Prankster EVs: 252 Def / 252 SDef Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Night Shade - Taunt - Will-O-Wisp - Recover Search Ghost (Dusknoir) (M) @ Lum Berry Trait: Pressure EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Shadow Sneak - Focus Punch - Pain Split - Substitute Possessor (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Pressure EVs: 252 Def / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Dark Pulse - Calm Mind - Sleep Talk - Rest Large Body (Golurk) @ Lum Berry Trait: No Guard EVs: 140 Atk / 152 Def / 216 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Earthquake - DynamicPunch - Stone Edge - Rock Polish Aquatank (Jellicent) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Water Absorb EVs: 208 Def / 216 SAtk / 16 SDef / 68 Spd Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Scald - Shadow Ball - Energy Ball - Recover Red Nocturne (M) @ Focus Sash Trait: Shadow Tag EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Flamethrower - Shadow Ball - SolarBeam - Sunny Day --- So, it's a basic ghost team of sorts! The new thing is that all the ghosts have been matched to a corresponding heartless (pictures shown for comparison). Speed is a minor issue, but then again, most ghost teams lacking Scarfgar/Scarflure seem to face that problem. Moveset on chandelure is to end rain/sand, to offset the speed issues at least partially. Jellicent is more to offensive than the usual stalling jellicent, and dusknoir/golurk provide physical power in case of pesky normal types. Spiritomb is a classic ghost, and the RestTalk spiritomb can be nasty if it sets up, barring opposing fighters. Sableye is the standard setup sableye.
-
[quote name='Slim Shady' timestamp='1331897214' post='28242'] Did you choose Rock Slide over Waterfall for the chance of a Dragonite or Salamence appearing? [/quote] Hmm, was thinking more of Water Absorb jellicent
-
@ Valkyria - I meant permanent weather, as Ikaru mentioned... it can be a handicap also, if an entire team is built around it (try a Drizzletoed team after the toad dies and some random opponent sends the sun/snow/sand up) Regarding the normal type being weak against fighting, as Ikaru has said, the normal/flying types can handle Mach Punch... but as for terrakion, a girafarig with a Focus Sash might do (rarely used, but still handy in normal teams on the odd occasion).

Every time I see conkeldurr or the like, I always roll my eyes and say to myself, "It's another setup." And if we're talking Chlorophyll/Swift Swim/Sand Rush, it's just a protracted form of setting up, come to think of it. Don't get me started on Baton Pass XD Not that I have anything against setup concepts, but they do get on my nerves sometimes during last-minute sweeps by that blasted conkeldurr >.< So, here is a doubles concept meant to basically nullify setting up to the maximum! LOL --- Golduck (M) @ Choice Scarf Trait: Cloud Nine EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Scald - Ice Beam - Hidden Power [Fire] - Psyshock --- Quagsire (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Unaware EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Rock Slide - Haze - Toxic - Recover --- Quagsire runs an Unaware/Haze combination to jam stat setups, whereas golduck jams weather. Golduck's moveset containes SE moves against fire/grass/ground/rock/ice//conkeldurr, arguably the most common setups out there. Oh, and once you've killed the opposing weather starter, send in a politoed to mess with their minds if they weren't running rain XD (hey, it fits with quagsire/golduck as water-types...). Other possible combinations include quagsire/lickilicky, altaria/quagsire, and altaria/lickilicky.
