  1. Lag, do forgive the last post.
  2. Hmm, mind enlightening us on how to get to this showdown?
  3. It's been an age. Or several. Anyways, Reborn's Dodrio has been unable to log on, for some reason! The Reborn server does not appear on the list of active servers Anyone have any suggestions? Have already updated our PO, etc.
  4. Having been both a teacher and a student - the former up to a pre-varsity level and the latter to an undergraduate level - I would say the problem lies with education system flaws that compound the issues found with both students and teachers, which I have listed below: Students - Laziness - Poor discipline - Poor work ethic - Unrealistic expectations - Lack of drive for success - Apathy towards themselves as well as others - Lack of respect towards teachers - Lack of curiosity - Entitlement mentality Teachers - Laziness - Poor discipline - Poor work ethic - Unrealistic expectations - Apathy towards students' problems - Lack of respect for students - Lack of creativity and flexibility - Lack of knowledge on their subject(s) - Lack of passion for their subject(s) These issues are just listed off the top of my head, and the list is not exhaustive by any means. Notice, however, that I have listed a few things under both teachers as well as students. The COMPONENTS of an education system - e.g. standardised testing - in themselves may be beneficial to students as well as teachers. However, if the system as a whole is flawed due to antagonism/inhibition between its components as opposed to synergism, then of course the results would be less than optimal. For example, in my homeland of Malaysia, people complained that the standardised exams were becoming too easy, which was actually due to political interference with public education (politicians reduced the syllabus scope to raise passing statistics, etc.). To remedy this, the government - which was responsible for the problem to begin with - abolished them and replaced them with school-based assessment. The curriculum remained the same. Our curriculum is weak to begin with, and while standardised testing as well as schoool-based assessments are both equally viable for a fair testing of a student's strengths/weaknesses, this one flawed component screwed the whole system over. OF COURSE you'd find problematic students and teachers wherever you look, so allowing flawed components to remain unchecked is the main problem, in my humble opinion. That being said, it is naturally impossible to devise a perfect system. Thus, it is my sincere - some would say harsh - belief that the system which produces the best results should be selected. And by 'best results', I mean the system should produce the most thinking individuals who would be beneficial to society as well as humanity. If along the way there are some failures, well, statistically speaking, there is always a wastage factor. Be it bad teachers, students, or just those anomalies in the system, it is impossible to have zero casualties, so to speak, so the aim in devising an education system should be to minimise wastage rather than please everyone. The optimal solution hardly needs to be perfect, and mathematical logic is, for the most part, infallible.

    Faded

I like to use Air Balloon magnezone with Sunny Day to back the HP Fire, in case of opposing rain with the ferrothorns.
  6. Just for the record, I have a KH/FF inspired one on my back The main reply I wanted to make was about the girl/boyfriend thing: are people that desperate for an other half these days?
  7. Language studies, perhaps? Or do anthropology with a major in Asian/Japanese stuff.
  8. Being a concertmaster doesn't give you the right to dismiss instruments which aren't part of the standard orchestral repertoire. Every instrument has a unique sound and place in the world of music. And while the basics of some instruments may be easier to pick up than others, I'm willing to bet money that even the humble recorder is as difficult to master as the horn.
  9. And so the ruling coalition has just rigged their way through the elections, to win 5 more years of control over our homeland Malaysia. Details are available using these keywords and any search engine: - Bentong, blackout, ballot, boxes, magic - Recount, ballot, boxes We're to drained to write more now. Democracy died today in Malaysia.
  10. Must be the bigger person.

  11. Umm, since when was terrakion un-counterable? Haha. That aside, It looks like a decent team, playing by safe, tried and tested combinations.
  12. I remember this one. Annoyingly well, to boot, lol Hmm, given that my ghost team at the time was basically kingdra fodder, can't say much about it, but it's solid, given the components and movesets.
  13. As they said, the target audience for your post would probably miss the whole point - oh look, Evasion? - despite the thought you put into it. And there's where you'd probably see the difference between those who merely play the game, and those who make the game more than just that Good post.
  14. Armaldo's a tad slow for a Swift Swimmer - the others such as ludicolo or even seismitoad tend to outspeed it. If you really want to try a different Swimmer, perhaps beartic might be an option.

Hmm, Rock Polish sounds feasible, so this calls for experimentation. Usually I like my metagross a little faster, to allow for a jump with Bullet Punch. But for now, it's all still being experimented with.
  16. After a rather short absence, here's yet another one of our little themed teams. As you might have guessed from the name, this one revolves around the ability Clear Body. It is for singles in OU. It is being play-tested currently, and so any discussion below is mere conjecture for now. --- Metagross @ Focus Sash Trait: Clear Body EVs: 160 Atk / 96 Def / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Bullet Punch - Earthquake - Ice Punch - Stealth Rock --- Hippowdon (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Sand Stream EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 SDef Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Crunch - Roar - Toxic - Slack Off --- Regirock @ Leftovers Trait: Clear Body EVs: 252 Atk / 80 Def / 176 SDef Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Smack Down - Earthquake - Drain Punch - Ice Punch --- Registeel @ Lum Berry Trait: Clear Body EVs: 64 HP / 96 Def / 252 SAtk / 96 SDef Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Flash Cannon - Hidden Power [Ground] - Charge Beam - Toxic --- Regice @ Chople Berry Trait: Clear Body EVs: 176 Def / 252 SAtk / 80 SDef Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Frost Breath - Hidden Power [Fire] - Charge Beam - Thunder Wave --- Tentacruel (F) @ Air Balloon Trait: Clear Body EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Scald - Ice Beam - Giga Drain - Rapid Spin --- So, that's the basic prototype of it. Considered klinklang for the last slot, but gave it to hippowdon to enable regirock to get a defensive boost, and to give regice's HP Fire more edge against ferrothorn/scizor, as well as to take on all the Hurricanes out there. Not to mention Chlorophyll. Metagross is a handy lead for various occasions, and the moveset can be varied based on the rest of the team. Decided to go with Earthquake instead of Zen Headbutt thanks to the accuracy, despite the wider type coverage and STAB it would have offered. Metagross also lays down hazards in the form of Stealth Rock. Alternatively, an AgiliGross might work as well. Either way, it jams a few setup leads such as cloyster. The golem trio are basically made to counter their individual weaknesses. Regirock's combination of bulk, Smack Down, and Earthquake allows it to take out the likes of skarmory/gliscor/thundurus, and Drain Punch is sometimes painful... for the opponent to watch, that is. Regice is more of a stat-buster thanks to Frost Breath, and is equipped to handle steel with HP Fire. Likewise, Registeel has HP Ground to work against opposing Magnet Pull. This on a whole is intended to give the trio the ability to handle threats with minimal switching, though its effectiveness is yet untested. They also have some poison in there, to handle nasty things like opposing bulk. Regice instead has Thunder Wave since it's the slowest of the lot. Chople Berry and Paralysis may offer the chance of crippling a boosted blaziken or sharpedo to be handled later, even at the cost of regice itself. Tentacruel's intended as a Spinner, and for some speed in the team. It's faster than everything else in here, but is otherwise the standard speeding tentacruel. Now, theoretically, I see a large fire weakness in here, namely against heatran. Heatran alone could easily wipe out half this team, while a boosted volcarona may be impossible to take down. Ninetales and blaziken may or may not be that annoying depending on the preceding turns. Chandelure... well, that one's always a wildcard. Fighters may also annoy this team to a large extent. The therians might pose a threat, but probably only if their weather support holds out. Otherwise, there's probably sufficient bulk in this team to take them on.
  17. Hmm, good to see Hardy up there again - will always recall that he once held the 2nd position
  18. About that bimbo with the iPhone? She should be thankful Ian doesn't teach her. He's actually been placed on probation before over how he handled a misbehaving student. Allegedly, there were projectiles involved, but we're short on the details. Suffice to say, you're in school to learn. If you hate the rules so much, drop out, go to work, and see if life's any better.
  19. And a happy silver anniversary to Final Fantasy!

    Slow Freeze

We checked the rules long before we started posting here - sprites are optional. As for listing each and every thing that's common in the current game environment for a threat assessment, that's really a bummer - might as well list the most notable threats (particularly since everything we post here is playtested first, barring doubles/triples teams).
  22. Dogs, and my dog agrees. To date, she's killed 5 cats Not a drop of blood spilled, though - broken necks.

    Slow Freeze

Regarding the steel-fire-fighting weakness, the biggest threat thus far was genesect as noted, since it typically carries speedy Flamethrowers (and if walrein goes down, that's pretty much game over). Scizor's Bullet Punch is also another big killer. Fighting... jynx is actually reasonable for handling that, although if there's lots of fighting types around I'd swap glalie out for froslass. Probably I didn't see fighting moves as such a threat since jynx/froslass/glalie/vanilluxe typically can take a single hit. And regarding the matter of sprites for the team, we personally prefer to not include them. While they do make things prettier, larger sprites could make it a little fiddly to see the team's moves as a whole (particularly since we tend to sequence the pokemon based on their roles). If the team really does merit sprites, though, we'd use drop-boxes. Like someone said, this one's pretty much a slightly rehashed Hail stalling team, so why even go for sprites? ;P
  24. So, since Christmas is coming, a Hail team seemed to be in order. Made based on Blake's old team, for OU singles. Does reasonably well barring scizors which get their boosts up or genesect (which pretty much murders this team outright). --- Cloyster (M) @ Focus Sash Trait: Overcoat EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 SDef Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Ice Shard - Rapid Spin - Toxic Spikes - Spikes --- Abomasnow (F) @ Lum Berry Trait: Snow Warning EVs: 164 Atk / 132 Def / 136 SDef / 76 Spd Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk) - Ice Shard - Seed Bomb - Earthquake - Swords Dance --- Walrein (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Ice Body EVs: 252 Def / 120 SAtk / 136 SDef Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Surf - Aqua Ring - Toxic - Protect --- Glalie (M) @ Chople Berry Trait: Ice Body EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Ice Shard - Earthquake - Crunch - Iron Head Vanilluxe (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Ice Body EVs: 120 Def / 252 SAtk / 136 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Blizzard - Flash Cannon - Weather Ball - Autotomize --- Jynx (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Dry Skin EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Blizzard - Psyshock - Energy Ball - Hail --- So, it's basically a Hail team built to stall, with some backup offensive in it also. Cloyster sets up hazards and is immune to Sand thanks to Overcoat - lovely ability, since most players expect Shell Smash. Also can act as a Spinner if played right. Abomasnow's the Hail-maker as always. Walrein's the classic Hail staller, so it's nothing new. Also acts as a pseudo-wall against steel thanks to its dual-typing. Glalie's just there for fun, frankly. It does reasonable physical damage, and isn't entirely sluggish. Vanilluxe does a lovely job at abusing opposing Sun if it gets its speed boost, especially against Chlorophyll teams. Now, jynx. Probably one of my favourite ice types since Gen I. Manual Hail as a backup, with dual-STAB moves and anti-Rain measures. Sucks up all water handily, which sometimes comes in handy for opposing Scarfed pieces with water moves. As mentioned earlier, steel wrecks this team, particularly genesect and scizor. Jirachi's not so much of an issue outside of Rain, and in the worst-case scenario, swap glalie out for rotom-F if the steel problem's that bad. Heatran/volcarona/chandelure are more minor threats compared to steel, as glalie somehow outspeeds most heatran out there - cue Earthquake - and walrein handles fire decently. Cloyster's hazards tend to punish volcarona, or at least take a decent chunk of its HP out.
