  1. Of late, the three of us have been receiving comments that our teams are run in an unusual manner - this is not unexpected, and we slowly came to realise that our play style is somewhat unconventional. Further experiments showed that our teams tended to start as semi-stalling teams that turned into more fofensive teams if the opponent made a wrong move. And of course, the key to this was the combination of pokemon used. --- - We tend to run chandelure as a weather-jammer. That is to say, we put a Sash on it and use it to set up Sunny Day on politoed/tyranitar/abomasnow/hippowdon. A Solarbeam settles the opposition after that, usually. - Arena Trap Dugtrio with sandstorm is also useful in some cases. - Magnezone/probopass with Sunny Day and Magnet Pull can be the death of jirachi/ferrothorn/scizor if run correctly. - Speaking of jirachi, cofagrigus with the classic Will-O-Wisp/Hex combo tends to wreck it (goodbye, Serene Grace). - Zebstrika/girafarig are nasty buggers if you abuse Sap Sipper appropriately. This works considerably well since Spore is popular as always. - Eelektross with Drain Punch is a worthy enemy. Fear it, especially after several Coils. - Unaware clefable is deadlier than Magic Guard clefable. - Running quagsire to bait that Leaf Storm into girafarig/zebstrika is handy. - SubPunch dusknoir/dusclops are great for leeching HP and PP off an opponent (abuse Pressure to the maximum). --- Those are basically the few pokemon that we've been frequently running of late. The nett effect of applying those methods as described above is a pokemon that sponges blows or ignores them, inducing a switch-out in the opponent. As the opponent switches out, that's the cue for a Cosmic Power/Coil/Flame Charge/Agility/Stockpile. Which is why we said it starts as a semistall (just look at all the pokemon listed), and morphs into something worse if given the chance. --- - Lead with chandelure (with a Sunny Day set) as a handy way of jamming weather, since few people tend to run delayed weather teams. - Run at least two ghosts to have backup Spinblockers (sableye/jellicent/cofagrigus are good). - Keep Unaware or Haze around if defense is an issue (clefable/quagsire for Unaware, cofagrigus is good for Haze). - Instead of giving a Lum Berry to a pokemon, sub it out for something with Sap Sipper if serperior and/or Spore are abundant. - Burn everything on the opposition, and Hex them to death (thanks, Shade). - Scrap Leftovers for boosted defenses, anti-status berries, and Pain Split when running ghosts. Works reasonably well.
  2. Hmm, haven't really seen much of the first team, though CM jirachi in Rain is quite common. And yes, limiting the opponent's Rapid Spin is more towards what I meant - in a best case scenario, you force them to either take damage to execute the Spin, or to lose the Spinner (which is the cue for the fresh set of hazards). On second thought, though, the necessity in limiting and/or jamming Rapid Spin probably lies with the resilience of the hazard-setter and/or the team's playing style. Hippowdon, for instance, can be reliably brought out to reset hazards more often than say, tyranitar (due to the differing number of weaknesses, access to recovery moves, etc.). One of my personal favourites for hazards is probably cloyster, strangely enough. Defensive cloyster with Overcoat and Spikes can serve as a weather-proof hazard setter, and also has Ice Shard and/or Rapid Spin to give it a few options (priority to disable that Sash, and Spin to remove opposing hazards).
  3. I'd have to disagree with Spinblockers being an option for stall - with the amount of people running Spinners nowadays, no stall team would work ideally without a Spinblocker. Jellicent/dusclops/dusknoir are the ideal Spinblockers, IMHO. All three are viable stall pieces on their own, too.
  4. I think I recall this one. If it was this one, then it came down to one of my utility pieces against cresselia. Hmm.
  5. If the three of us get another person trying to preach to us about blaziken/chandelure/etc. things are going to get ugly.

Would be a pleasure to purge them with the very same flames from blaziken or chandelure.

  6. Chandelure @ Focus Sash Trait: Shadow Tag EV's: 4HP / 252SAtk / 252Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Flamethrower - Shadow Ball/Hidden Power [Rock/Ice] - Solarbeam - Sunny Day Basically an anti-weather chandelure used to jam politoed/tyranitar/hippowdon/abomasnow leads. As I recall, Shade used it on the odd occasion, but of late, I've been using it increasingly more on my fire teams to jam opposing rand or sand. For the ghost monotypes, I tend to substitute the Sash for an Air Balloon instead. HP Ice is in case of dragons, and HP Rock could be for volcarona leads. Otherwise, I go with Shadow Ball.
  7. Overrated or not, it's turned fifteen, and that's cause enough to have fun in its name @ Washman - Hmm, infernape seemed fitting, firstly for the Iron Fist (as you mentioned), and then for the flaming head thing that looked a little like Tifa's long hair. Alas, aside from jynx, there don't seem to be any busty pokemon out there.

    Marauders

Murkrow's Heat Wave was to troll scizor XD Or genesect, for the matter. Drapion's primary role was initially to remove TSpikes, but I'm tinkering with his moves currently.
  9. I wish I could stick a hand through my computer screen and throttle to death those rude idiots who log onto the server and battle without reading the tier list. It's one thing to politely ask me why I'm using blaziken/chandelure in OU, and another to call me a cheating pussy.
  10. It seems Final Fantasy VII just turned 15! And fire was pretty much the only fitting type, so fire it was. --- Cloud (Charizard) (M) @ Focus Sash Trait: Blaze EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Fire Punch - Dragon Claw - Earthquake - Dragon Dance --- Aerith (Ninetales) (F) @ Air Balloon Trait: Drought EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Flamethrower - Energy Ball - Psyshock - Nasty Plot --- Tifa (Infernape) (F) @ Choice Scarf Trait: Blaze EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Close Combat - Flamethrower - Grass Knot - Hidden Power [ice] --- Nanaki (Arcanine) (M) @ Lum Berry Trait: Intimidate EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - ExtremeSpeed - Flame Charge - Crunch - Double Kick --- Barret (Magmortar) (M) @ Passho Berry Trait: Vital Spirit EVs: 200 Def / 56 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Flamethrower - SolarBeam - Thunderbolt - Sunny Day --- Sephiroth (Blaziken) (M) @ Air Balloon Trait: Speed Boost EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Fire Punch - Brick Break - Rock Slide - Bulk Up --- Enjoy
  11. Have to disagree, given my track record with Hydro Pump/Fire Blast/Focus Blast/Stone Edge/Blizzard.
  12. Not an artist, but a composer, rather - Nobuo Uematsu. Yoko Shimomura's a close second.
  13. We just need a rat to complete the set of four. Haven't really tested this one vigorously yet, so it's still being assessed for threats, etc. --- Sableye (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Prankster EVs: 252 Def / 212 SDef / 4 Spd Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Night Shade - Will-O-Wisp - Taunt - Recover --- Liepard (M) @ Lum Berry Trait: Prankster EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Fake Out - Sucker Punch - Taunt - Thunder Wave --- Murkrow (M) @ Eviolite Trait: Prankster EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Heat Wave - Toxic - FeatherDance - Roost --- Spiritomb (M) @ Lum Berry Trait: Pressure EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Dark Pulse - Icy Wind - Will-O-Wisp - Pain Split --- Drapion (F) @ Lum Berry Trait: Battle Armor EVs: 252 Atk / 16 Def / 176 SDef Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Crunch - Earthquake - Ice Fang - Agility --- Sharpedo (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Speed Boost EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Aqua Jet - Crunch - Earthquake - Ice Fang --- Triple Prankster with decent firepower backing them up, in a way. Will need more vigorous testing before its true value can be determined.
  14. Decided to make a ghost team revolving around the move Will-O-Wisp, of all things. Suffers from the usual issues of ghosts being frail, so I decided to run the bulky ones to compensate. Of course, if I run into a Scarfed hydreigon, the team's still pretty much screwed. --- Sableye (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Prankster EVs: 252 Def / 252 SDef / 4 Spd Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Night Shade - Will-O-Wisp - Taunt - Recover --- Chandelure (M) @ Air Balloon Trait: Shadow Tag EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Flamethrower - SolarBeam - Hidden Power [Rock] - Sunny Day --- Cofagrigus (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Mummy EVs: 160 Def / 96 SAtk / 252 SDef Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk) - Hex - Will-O-Wisp - Haze - Pain Split --- Jellicent (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Water Absorb EVs: 244 Def / 208 SAtk / 56 SDef Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Scald - Energy Ball - Will-O-Wisp - Recover --- Golurk @ Focus Sash Trait: No Guard EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SDef / 252 Spd Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Stone Edge - DynamicPunch - Rock Polish --- Dusknoir (M) @ Lum Berry Trait: Pressure EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk) - Shadow Sneak - Brick Break - Will-O-Wisp - Pain Split --- The only unusual set here is probably chandelure's. It was meant to play with the fire theme, and also to counter politoed/volcarona.
  15. Probably 'Clash on the Big Bridge', 'The Man with the Machine Gun', 'Blinded by Light', or 'Still More Fighting'.
  16. 83. If you use jirachi or togekiss, you have forfeited the right to accuse your opponent of being gay (even if he/she/it is in fact homosexual).
  17. Does espeon learn Grass Knot? Might be better than HP Grass if killing hippowdon or tyranitar is your aim. Hmm, how'd you fare in rain against Swift Swimmers? Or excadrill in sand, for the matter? While your team does have utility on its side, fast opponents who hit hard may give you problems.
  18. Well, this is more than just a team, and naturally more than a single moveset, so I figured it'd fit here instead of the RMT or Research forum. And if you've watched the movie... well, I'm sure you'd agree that making ONE team to represent the whole stable of creatures is not fun enough XD For those who've watched it, I'm sure you recall the whiteboard. Or maybe the elevators. So, I ended up making a box full of various pokemon modelled after the various creatures from the whiteboard and elevators Most of them can go well together, so it's pretty much a mix-and-match grab bag here. Some are pretty common sets, while others are more obscure. Believe me, I wish I'd thought of ways to get others into the game as well, such as the Boomer, the Twins, the Werewolf, etc.
  19. Hardy for advocating the sleeveless cause. Shade for being awesomely vocal. Sigmund because everyone loves sadistic doctors.
  20. Dear Anonymous, Someday, I am going to kill you. In the meantime, I hope that you either get a persistent yeast infection or that someone else gets to you before I do. Lots of love, Dodrio

    What's This?

Oh, tentacruel's an offensive piece The actual stall cores are jellicent, hippowdon, and sableye, really. But valid points, nonetheless.
  22. Zen

    What's This?

Yup - it was down to hippowdon and a Burnt flygon
  23. A singles team from Dodrio? What is this? Wait, and it's NOT a monotype? Blapshemy! The premise is simple if you go through it. --- Cloyster (F) @ Focus Sash Trait: Overcoat EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 SDef Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Ice Shard - Rapid Spin - Spikes - Toxic Spikes --- Sableye (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Prankster EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Night Shade - Taunt - Will-O-Wisp - Recover --- Hippowdon (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Sand Stream EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 SDef Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Crunch - Roar - Slack Off --- Tentacruel (F) @ Air Balloon Trait: Liquid Ooze EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Scald - Acid Spray - Giga Drain - Rapid Spin --- Buphthalmos (Jellicent) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Water Absorb EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Hex - Will-O-Wisp - Taunt - Recover --- Batman (Gliscor) (M) @ Toxic Orb Trait: Poison Heal EVs: 252 Def / 255 SDef Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Aerial Ace - Swords Dance - Agility --- So. A mixed stall team without skarmory or those bastard eggs in it. Or ferrothorn, which seems to be very popular again. It has dual Spinners and also dual Taunters, to deal with opposing stall teams. Then, it has two Spin-blockers, which themselves are no strangers to the stalling game. Hippowdon's there to blast setups out of the scene, or to harass people with sand - also another common element of the stall war. Basically, the only two types of teams that have really given this one headaches thus far have been steel-heavy teams or flying/Levitate teams.

    Disgusting

Something I thought would be worth sharing: http://mashable.com/2012/07/30/tom-daley-twitter-father/ Utterly disgusting. At the same time, the trolls out there should always keep in mind that anonymity is not a license to be a jerk.
