  1. A bit unrelated but if you want an MMO with a good (imo) single-player story you should totally try the Star Wars MMO Its done by Bioware and largely free-to-play (you loose out on some perks of being a member but not too many that its impossible to play).
  2. Truth. Its definitely a nice change of pace for an internet community EDIT: also thanks for the recommendation, Overlord looks fun I think I'll give it a try
  3. Hey man nice to meet ya I'm kinda new to the Reborn Forums as well so nice to see another new face Speaking of Anime do you have any current series you really like? It's been literally forever since I've found a good series that's really gotten me and I'd love a recommendation
  4. Sorry for lack of organization, kind of just mind dumping my thoughts here -- IMO university is just as much or even more about the soft-skills you learn outside of the classroom then what you learn inside of it. Even for professional faculties like Engineering or Comp Sci a lot of employers don't put a ton of weight into your marks. Extra-curricular projects you do look significantly better to them. Even getting involved in clubs and stuff can be a huge positive if you got involved on the executive side. Managing people and being eloquent will get you farther than a lot of people realize. I would recommend that you find an extra-curricular or two that you really want to get involved with and dive in headfirst. Having something that you are really passionate about outside of school hours is huge because it forces you to get all of your work done when you have the chance. If you slack then you have to work instead of going out to things that you really wanted to do. Its also a great way to meet people with similar interests and make friends. Speaking from personal experience nearly all the friends I have held onto after University were made outside of the classroom. Not sure where you are going to school but most larger universities have a huge number of extracurriculars so you should be able to find something that matches your interests. If something that you really want to do doesn't exist then you can start your own club/organization. The university / your student government may even help you get it started with funding. Make friends in your program and find a good study group. Not everyone can be good at everything and you will definitely find a course or two that you struggle with in your 4 years. This is where its great to have people help you through. For the courses you do really well in but your friends don't, teaching someone else is also a great way to re-inforce what you know. --
  5. Not sure if being Canadian makes this one funnier or less funny. Also be ware endless blackhole of similar videos: It starts slow but the build up is totally worth it:
  6. So not being around for the first version of this league, is the idea that you guys will tier the gym leaders so that there are easier and harder ones? Is there going to be a tier restriction on the pokemon in the leaders teams based on Smogon tiers?
  7. TBH I've only really looked into OU in any detail, but it also seems like Jolteon would give it competition in RU so it could totally go even lower than UU
  8. Ooh interesting. Are you planning on keeping a few mon's constant and having like the 5th/6th team slots always cycle or are you planning on releasing the oldest mon after each gym?
  9. The song is decent on its own but the music video is a lot of fun and its been completely stuck in my head:
  10. If you want to spend some more time in Reborn you could look into EV training your team: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Effort_values The department store has the Power items for EV training and the tunnels underneath the city are a great place to train any pokemon that require speed investment because of the Woobat spawn points. The highest floor also sells the berries for resetting EV's so you don't need to re-breed Pokemon. I've been kind of cheating and using the Woobats and just spending extra money to get rid of the excess speed EV's because its just so time efficient but you can also use the EV guide here: http://www.pokemonreborn.com/forum/?showtopic=7866
  11. I feel like non-Mega Manetric could probably be re-tiered to UU. Seems like a comparable option to Heliolisk in terms of stats and offers slightly different coverage options with Overheat vs Grass Knot/Hyper Voice
  12. At the start of my reborn run I wanted to try and have a theme for my pokemon's nicknames. I dropped this idea later but for the first handful of gyms all my team were nicknamed after Naruto characters. So I had a Manectric on the team that was nicknamed "Naruto" because of the hair similarities . Anyway this Manectric totally lived up to its name, you would not believe the number of times it had the best bullshit RNG luck to get me out of shitty situations. Totally ended up living up to its name by somehow managing to pull through whenever the odds were against it. Really hope that we end up getting Manectite in a future episode so I can wreck face with Naruto again
  13. Also @Combat Medic - for a specific Rain Dance mon recommendation try Gastrodon. Rain Dance + Muddy Water does a ton of work against her to neutralize field and also get some accuracy drops
  14. Chestnaught has a lot of cool options for a physically defensive pokemon. From leveling up it learns; - Leech Seed - Spiky Shield - Bulk Up - Pain Split Plus has access to two really hard hitting STAB moves in Wood Hammer and Hammer Arm. There's also Gastrodon which is a surprisingly tanky pokemon with the right EV investment (although one of the main draws for using it usually is Recover which is useless in game because of recovery items) EDIT: Dang I'm dumb I forgot the two fairy types I also wanted to mention; Clefable and Granbull. Clefable has access to team support options in Wish and can run Calm-Mind or further team support. Granbull is a surprisngly good check to fighting types and dragon types with tanky EV investment because of Intimidate. I used it for both fighting gym battles and it did a ton of work for me
  15. First Run : Chespin, proceeded to cry and restart the game as soon as I got the Chespin egg from the in-game event T__T Second Run : Froakie, have been super happy with it and using this as my main run. Protean is an amazingly useful ability
  16. If you don't feel like raising a bunch of fire pokemon for Charlotte I raised a Gastrodon for this fight and it put in a lot of work. Rain Dance + Muddy Water neutralized the field effect and boosted my other water types to make the rest of the fight significantly easier. Although TBH you probably won't need it for anything after this
  17. Another thing to keep in mind with picking a starter is team balance and what other pokemon you want to use. For example I'm a big fan of Arcanine so that makes me less likely to not pick a fire starter so that I have good coverage.
  18. Maybe just re-roll one of the 6-pokemon teams until you get something else that is catchable pre-julia?
  19. Hi All, I'm MellowSlinky. I've been lurking on the forums for the past month or so as I've been playing reborn and decided I wanted to try getting more involved in the forums. Things you might want to know about me: 1. I haven't played a nintendo pokemon game since original gold. Some friends got me to try OU on Showdown which kind of got me back into things (although I'm still quite awful at battling). As a result I pretty much have bulbapedia and smogon open 24/7 when I'm playing 2. I'm killing time until E16 comes out by leveling a Pick-Up squad and trying my hand at breeding for moves and IV training some UU/OU offensive threats. I might try IV breeding at some point although I still don't quite understand it all lol 3. Outside of video games my hobbies revolve around performance (acting, singing, and dancing). I absolutely adore musical theatre and am always down to talk about shows with people. My current obsession is Fun Home which is an absolutely incredible show if you like more dramatic musical theatre: So yeah, hi again and hope to see you around <3's
