  1. Well I would like to look into it but as I have zero experience with RPG Maker I have no idea where to even start and I assume it's difficult to debug this kind of thing - I need to first understand why the AI made certain decision before trying to improve it. Then I might get easily discouraged if the code is badly written and it would take a long time to fix anything. And I tend to cover my own code with tests which is probably impossible here although an AI algorithm would certainly need it. I see. Well it seems that by solving the issue with Steel you just created another one with Rock. If I'm right to assume that aside of Nasty Plot and Hidden Power (Fire) it has a Poison STAB and Flying STAB it means there is nothing to hit Rock with normal effectiveness (never mind supereffectiveness). If the STAB moves are both physical than I understand why the AI went for Hidden Power - Sudowoodo has good Def but bad Sp. Def. so physical STAB would not help at all. Anyway I understand it better now and I can't really see any good solution. Maybe Hidden Power Ground instead of Fire but then again it is only normally effective against Foretress. Looks like I accidently found the best counter-pokemon against the Crobat. In any case great work with Corey's team! I know about the txt file - it is a must have for designing battles. However as a player I prefer to read the information in the game directly and only if I manage to get the field notes before the battle. I like that I have to make effort to get the information needed to better prepare for a Gym.
  2. Found a bug. Under the grand staircase there is a room where you're supposed to break the Crystal Cavern fieldeffect to get the fieldnotes (screenshot below). In the current version of Reborn Hardcore this is broken because when you enter a battle it doesn't have any field effect so no crystals to break. If I transfer my savefile to regular Reborn and try it there it works fine so this bug is Hardcore-specific. The question is, can I safely transfer my savefile to regular Reborn, get the fieldeffect notes, save and transfer back to Hardcore? Or can such action remove some Hardcore variables or something from my savefile? Also I've feedback to the battles I went through in the meantime in Beryl and Jasper. Firstly Taka in Beryl is extremely difficult. Especially his Gligar with Acrobatics this early in the game is insane. It is damn fast, can defeat anything with one or two hits and is weak only to Water and Ice both of which are very rare at this point. And aside from Gligar he has very nasty Chatot, very defensive Klefki and a PULSE on top of that. I was stuck there for a long time and eventually had to train a Pelipper just to get past the Gligar without sacrificing most of my team. Pelipper, maybe some water-type starters and Seel which you don't always get are I think the only available pokes which can counter that Gligar. It felt much more difficult than Julia, Florinia or Corey. Despite the fact that I like a good challenge this was honestly a bit too much - or rather I don't think you can maintain such difficulity throughout the whole game. So yeah, Taka should be nerfed a bit in my opinion. The second reason is that Taka's pokemon actually have higher levels in Jasper than they do later in Beryl for the double battle against Taka + ZEL (a bug in my opinion). Why would he use common candies?? The battle in Beryl was surprisingly much easier even though Taka and ZEL combined are using 9 pokemon (one of which is agains PULSE). The reason is that in Beryl you're on higher level and as I said earlier Taka is weaker here. Plus his Gligar even though it's still a threat it can't kill two pokemon at the same time so it is more managable. If you nerf his mons in Jasper to the same level they have later in Beryl it might be enough to solve this. Corey Battle-style: Set Challenge: No-Items Team: Corrosive Mist Result: Won on third try or so. Notes: Corey was really good. I was planning to use Flame Burst right away to get rid of the field. Well Corey started with Quilfish followed by Nidoqueen both of which could OHKO my fire-type before it could use Flame Burst. Here I learned the hard way that normal field-destroying strategies don't really work in Hardcore - which is a really good thing. Issues: At one point I had Munsharna out against his Nidoqueen. Munsharna was badly hurt and of course much slower than Nidoqueen. There was no point in saving it so I just left it there to faint. Well instead of finishing Munsharna Corey switched out the Nidoqueen allowing Munsharna to use Future Sight which later almost one shot his Scolipede. His switch didn't make any sense and pretty much lost the battle for Corey - clearly an AI issue. Second AI messup happened when I had Sudowoodo out against his ace Crobat. First Crobat used Nasty Plot. A bit odd since he needed to get rid of Sudowoodo ASAP. On the next round it used Hidden Power - "not very effective..." at which point Sudowoodo easily finished it. What type of Hidden Power is he using? And why would the AI use a non-stab weak attack? From weak effectivity to Sudowoodo it has to be Normal, Fire, Poison or Flying - well Crobat has far better options for both Poison and Flying, there is no need to use Normal and Fire would only cover his Ice weakness - it would be better to use Fighting or Steel to cover Rock as well. This just didn't make any sense at all.
  3. Not that many actually. I played many games several years back but I don't get to play them as often now. Most of the games I play now are recommendations of what are considered very good games by other people so there is a very good chance I'll like them as well. Most of the games I tried recently are actually in my list above. I don't know any of the games you mentioned save Galactica, but I'll look them up - they certainly sound promising! Perhaps someone I know might have one of them and lend it to me. I think I saw Eldritch Horror somewhere once, but sadly I can't quite remember where. Primarily I play with a group of friends I know since basic school. Sadly we don't meet as often anymore or not always to play games. However I have a different group of players to hang out with more often but they don't like board games so we usually play RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons. I enjoy it too so I don't actually miss boardgames too much. There is also a boardgames club in the city I live which I visit occasionally. Who are your play-mates? Have you ever played D&D or similar game?
  4. Sorry for the delay. I kind of forgot about this topic. Here are some other games with minimal random elements that I really liked: Tzolk'in: The Mayan Calendar - Very interesting gameboard with six connected rotating wheels. It is surprisingly well balanced dispite the fact that there are many completely different strategies to play. The Voyages of Marco Polo - I remember the rules very vaguely but it was very good. There are dices rolled all the time which can play their role but their ultimate impact is far less than expected. Mombasa - Great game with only one random element without much impact. Again many different strategies to play and it also has some variants which you can combine to make it slightly different every time. Viticulture - Awesome wine game although it is considered to be good only with the expansion (which replaces the main gameboard with a completely different one with many new elements and rules). Personally I never played it without the expansion though. However with the expansion it's one of the best games I ever played. There are some random cards - the key is to make the ones you get meaningful at the right time. Skill and mistakes have much greater impact that the cards themselves honestly. Imperial 2030 - I already mentioned this but I have to emphasize that this game has no random elements whatsoever. Also the full game information is visible to all players at any given time meaning that it is entirely predictable. In theory. In practice most of my predictions completely fail despite the fact that my winning rate in this game isn't half bad. Amun-Re - Much older than the other games I'm recommending here but a very decent game regardless. The random cards can admitedly decide the game though so I recommend to change the rules a bit and always draw two cards and choose one instead of simply drawing a random card.
  5. RAWRCHOMP is not a "normal NPC controlled pokemon" - it's a Gym Leader's Ace. I checked the PBS files - RAWRCHOMP has perfect IVs, Jolly nature and is way above the level cap. No way you can get higher speed. Your Jynx might have a chance to outspeed it with Choice Scarf or some other speed boost or if you slow the RAWRCHOMP first. But without any of these effects Jynx can win without AI messing up.
  6. Hmm... I don't think the behavior changed from E15, there were good reasons to prevent permanent items stealing. So maybe it doesn't work in some cases? You don't remember when your Braixen might have stolen it by any chance?
  7. You can find several megastones like Banetite, Abomasite and Steelixite throughout Reborn (you can find the complete list here). However there is no way to obtain the Mega Ring yet so they're useless for now. Ame said the Mega Ring event is already implemented in the game, just not yet accessible. Maybe during E17.
  8. That's weird. Stolen items are supposed to disappear in Reborn when the battle ends.
  9. Actually I assume it simply because Rock has too many weaknesses to exploit unlike Dragon, Steel and Water (which are the other three remaining Reborn leaders). However I'm looking forward for Hardy to show me how wrong I'm.
  10. Sounds like a bug. Unless it's holding an Everstone of course. Evolution rules are not changed in Reborn at all as far as I know. Post your savefile here so we can confirm it and fix it for you manually.
  11. Actually that's exactly what I'm talking about. Jynx is too slow to outspeed RAWRCHOMP and can't survive its Flamethrower (well maybe with an Assault Vest and surely with a Focus Sash). Meaning it should not help you at all.
  12. I was talking about Peridot, not Opal.
  13. That's parially because unlike other leaders Terra doesn't have any field advantage. Still her RAWRCHOMP is very deadly unless the AI uses a wrong move. I'm curious about how powerful she will be in Hardcore. Sturdy won't help if you set up some Spikes or Stealth Rock - which is what I'm planning to do against Hardy. I hope he can Surf with my Vaporeon. :-P
  14. Already defeated him. Turns out that Pelipper is indeed pretty good counter against Gligar. PULSE-Tangrowth was surprisingly easy because it's powerless against Swalot with Acid Spray. Defeated Taka and ZEL in Beryl too. The key pokemon was ZEL's Jolteon with Charge Beam. I didn't have any good counter so I defeated it with Pelipper of all things. :-D Jolteon was poisoned by Toxic Spikes so I used Pelipper with Protect as a bait, switched out to some weak disposable mon, then Protect again, Swalot weakened it with more acid and finally Pelipper finished the Jolteon with Quick Attack. Very satisfying. Swalot took care of the PULSE in the meantime and together Swalot and Pelipper were able to defeat both Chatot and Klefki. Now I'm about to face Corey and it took me a really long time to decide on my last pokemon for this fight - in the end I'll go with Munsharna. I really wanted a Gothorita but it only appears in the library after Corey.
  15. > Bidoof: Opal Ward (Day), Peridot Garden From the PBS files it doesn't seem Bidoof appears in Peridot.
  16. This is the first time ever I got this stuck in a pokemon game. I'm playing Reborn Hardcore, defeated both Julia and Florinia only to get completely stuck on Taka in Jasper ward. Hardcore Taka has: - Lileep - no problem - Gligar(!!) - the biggest threat, it has good stats and very good typing, can take down any of my pokemon in two rounds with Acrobatics and all types resistent to flying are weak against his Buldoze plus water and ice mons are extremely rare at this point in the game - Chatot - Sudowoodo can win sometimes, depends on Chatter confusion - Klefki - steel/fairy typing make it resistent or immune to many types, Roselia can win with field-boosted Giga Drain - PULSE-Tangrowth - I never even saw the PULSE as I can't get past the previous trio Gligar is the worst. Swalot can use Toxic but Gligar still has more than enough time to decimate my team before the poison can finish the job. Also this is No-Items challenge so I can't heal. The level cap is set to 35 because of Corey not giving a badge so I could in theory overlevel my team and be done with it but that's just not my style. And I don't want to trade online either. I'm confident I can defeat the deadly trio with some more training, but I doubt I'll be able to take on the PULSE after that. Mons I've trained so far: Swalot, Sudowoodo, Fearow, Pikachu (with Volt Tackle), Tranquill, Linoone, Kricketune and Spinda. I can catch and train something else - currently I'm trying to train a Pelipper to hopefully help against Gligar. My eggs were Drowzee and Seel Ciel.

    I-I need help...

Samson is one of the easier leaders in my opinion. Some good psychic types like Espeon or Gardevoir are even able to slaughter his entire team. The key is to not use any mons weak against fighting type moves (such as Sharpedo) because they're sitting Duckletts against his field+stab-boosted moves.
  18. E17 gym will be Titania. I think this was even confirmed by Ame somewhere. Then again it's a bit of a shame. Considering Hardy has the weakest of the remaining types he shouldn't be this high among the gym leaders. I'm sure Ame can put together a decent team for him but it will be next to impossible for Reborn Hardcore.
  19. E16 is not under spoiler lock anymore. But still putting the main event of E16 right into the title where any of the new players can accidently read it? Thumbs down.

    Abomasite

Beware though that your Abomasnow still won't be able to megaevolve because the player can't get the Mega Ring yet. It will probably be available in E17.
  21. Well I only have 13 folders there. Fonts and Gameovers can be safely removed. The game still works fine.
  22. Oh that's absolutely fine! I don't expect you to change anything right now based on my feedback since Gen 7 will be out soon (well except AI bugs perhaps). And of course you can't fix everything, there will always be some waeknesses. You might the feedback later when redesigning the teams with Gen 7 in mind. I'm making videos of the Gym battles if you want to see the issues for yourself. Julia Battle-style: Set Challenge: No-Items Team: Singles Result: Defeated Julia on first try. Issues: I had my Linoone use Mud Sport right away to destroy her field. Maybe some of her pokemon could have Electric Terrain to renew it? After my Roselia defeated one of her pokes, Julia sent out her Chinchou which was of course powerless against Roselia. (She had Chinchou, Heliolisk and Electrode left.) Heliolisk was a disappointment. It kept using Parabolic Charge against Roselia for minimal damage while Roselia overhealed herself easily with Mega Drain. I don't know if it has something better - either it doesn't or the AI messed up. I'd recommend a Hidden Power (Ice) maybe? I think her team could be stronger by one or two levels, closer to the cap. Most of her mons are lvl17 and I of course had everyone at level 20. With the level limiter you can easily expect the player to reach the cap (and maybe have some NPC explicitly tell the player that it's expected). Florinia Battle-style: Set Challenge: No-Items Team: Singles Result: She defeated me several times, forcing me to train a Fearow to deal with her Breloom. Notes: The Breloom is a real threat considering the player has very limited access to pokemon who can outspeed it at this point. I really liked it. I noticed that even with the level limiter Rare Candy can be used to bypass it. Not sure if it's intended but I used this to evolve my Gulpin to Swalot right before Florinia (evolves at 26, Florinia's limit is 25) and used a Common Candy to fix the level back to 25. Issues: I think she should have switched out her Breloom against my Fearow. I had Swalot use Toxic on her Cradily to poison it. Cradily than used Giga Drain (not very effective) against my Swalot several times and rarely switched to Rock Slide (normally effective). This is clearly an AI bug - using ineffective move and trying to prolong the battle while badly poisoned. Also and Johnathan said that this is still kiddies league. Where do I sign up for the adult league? :-P
  23. Those PBS files Commander said he will release will not contain Gen 7. You'll have to wait for Ame to release Reborn E17.
  24. I've finally started my first Hardcore playthrough. Would you like me to give you some feedback on the Gym battles as I play through them? (I play with Battle Style set and No-Items challenge enabled.)
