  2. Here's me at the Vancouver 2010 Olympics Anyone care to guess what country I'm from?
  3. Wow! Jan, you're about to outdo yourself again! It looks like what's coming up is well worth waiting before I upgrade to the next version. The only thing that sucks is having to start over yet again. Oh well, at least I'll have updated maps and storylines to explore so that's ok.
  4. Welcome to the city Fern. We won't hold your sharing a name with that douche brother of a gym leader against you. Not at all! I used to be a shy lurker of forums in the past. No longer though, and it's led to some great times and meeting some great people, and in my short time on this forum, I've already seen tons of great people and a very welcoming community. I'm sure you're gonna like it here and want to post more often now that you've broken the ice.
  5. It's great to see this game keep on progressing! I love the story you're telling, Jan, it's definitely of a quality comparable to some commercial games I've played. The difficulty can be hellish at times, but then again, the satisfaction of finally beating that cheating jerk NPC and getting that "in your face, you cheating jerk" feeling is that much greater at the end of it all. The big saving grace is you didn't choose to do an Undertale approach and have the game remember all those 10 failed attempts and hold them against you or anything! That would have been too trippy! That said, I do love Toby Fox's work there.
  6. Thanks for all the warm welcomes everyone! I took a look at a few of those and they're really cute! I felt my hart melting like crazy at some of the cute cat pics!
  7. Hi all, I've been around Indie game forums for close to 10 years now, going by the name Seriously Unserious on almost all of them. I've been away from gaming forums for the most part for the last couple of years while starting a journey to build my own job and business, but now I'm getting to the point where I finally have some leisure time to get back to some of my favorite hobbies, like playing video games and participating in online communities like this one. Those who've gotten to know me either in other online communities, or in RL, know me as that guy who's quick to step in and help out when I see someone in need of a helping hand. At the same time, I'm also ready to drop a joke without warning too! Sometimes I even manage to combine the 2. So, seeing as I love helping people so much, love computers, and love business, that was what I decided make that my job. Helping people promote their business online. I love games and love the creativity and community spirit that comes from indie game developers. Anyone who has an indie game project and is in need of a forum or website for your project, don't hesitate to connect with me, as I'd be happy to donate as much of my time as I can to helping you get set up for success. This community is awesome, and all the members are each awesome in their own unique ways!
  8. Hey thanks both of you! At least this narrows down the area I have to search for that roggenrolla quite a bit. I was hoping I'd seen the last of that jungle but I guess not...
  9. In the Kakori Village Help Quests, I can't progress with the Find Lost Roggenrolla quest. The text says there's supposed to be someone I'm need to talk to inside the pokemon centre, but when I go there, nobody in there has anything to do with this quest. There is a guy trapped behind a barrier of furniture that I can't talk to who my be related to this quest. So either the inaccessible guy is who I should talk to, the person I need to talk to failed to spawn when I accepted the quest, or I'm being giving wrong instructions in the text as to where I'm supposed to go. At first I thought this might have been a bug, and uploaded my save file, and someone else was able to progress on this, so there's obviously something I'm missing, but I haven't got the faintest clue what that might be. I got as far as accepting the quest and got the advice that there's someone related to this quest I'm supposed to talk to either inside or near the Kakori Village pokemon center. If anyone has any ideas of what I need to do next I'd appreciate some hints or direction. I've done everything I can think of and talked to everyone I can find (except that guy I can't reach of course who apparently isn't needed for this quest).
  10. OK, thanks for clearing those up. I guess there isn't much Jan can do about that unless he has access to coding essentials and wants to tackle that bug. OK, strange, I haven't been able to find the next trigger for it, I guess if it exists somewhere in the game, then I'll have to take it up in the quests help thread. Thanks for letting me know. Very interesting... Something must have been corrupted on my computer then - I just loaded it now and it loaded fine. Must have been having a Micro$oft moment or something then. LOL.
  11. I reported these in the V7 thread but don't see any sign that they've been fixed or even looked into. I'd appreciate an update on these bugs: I also encountered a bug that I don't think is related to what version I'm using (which is still v7-1) but when I loaded my saved game, I got 2 glitched item slots that I can't get rid of. I tried loading from about 5 or 6 of the backup saves and got the same error in all of them, so this isn't just affecting one save file. It appears to be an issue with something else in the core code of the game, possibly memory handling or something. This issue was definitely not there last time I played this game and saved it, the item menus were all behaving normally, so it seems to have happened sometime between when I last played and this session. I'm attaching my save file just in case there's some clues as to the cause of this problem in there. Game.rxdata
  12. Fangames definitely fall into a very big grey area. Technically fan art on copyright material falls under "fair use" in most countries, and if I remember correctly, international copyright agreements. However, the direct use of copyright materials, such as the art, maps, sound, etc. would fall under legitimate grounds for a copyright violation. If the developers used all original art, music, code, and so on, even if it's all cannon, Nintento would have less chance of getting a legitimate copyright infringement claim as all parts of the game could then fall under "fan art" fully. In other words, if all the pokemon designs in Reborn/Rejuvination, all the cries, sound effects, tile sets and any other asset were all replaced with fan art versions, then Jan and Ame could make a counter claim that the games are fully fan art and have a chance of making it stick as they would not be directly ripping off any copyrighted material in that case. That's still not a guarantee, but it's still better then with direct use of copyright protected material.
  13. Yeah, that other sidequest the other guy's help referenced was a totally different one. I had gotten as far as finding the 2 gems but had no idea what to do with them, I didn't see any in game text to explain that. Thanks for your help, I'm back into making progress now.
  14. The gemstones are located in Amethyst Cave, not Grotto. Iirc you need Rock Climb, there's a very short rock-climbing wall in the second(?) floor - there were some Xen Grunts around when you first entered. Basically you just go to explore the part of the cave that was blocked by Galvantula web. Prepare for a couple of battles. They might be tough, but nothing unmanageable. Looks Like I'm still stuck on this one. Turns out the gems were part of a different side quest which I'm done now. The one I'm really stuck with is the finding the grave of a Xen Grunt's mother. I think what caused some of the confusion is that both side quests run through the same territory in the cave. Any help on this quest I'm still stock on would be much appreciated. You're very welcome! Glad I could help.
  15. I found 2 bugs: 1- I just encountered and caught a female nidorino in Valor Mtn. Nidorinos should always be male. 2- In the Kakori Village Help Quests, I can't progress with the Find Lost Roggenrolla quest. The text says there's supposed to be someone I'm need to talk to inside the pokemon centre, but when I go there, nobody in there has anything to do with this quest. There is a guy trapped behind a barrier of furnature that I can't talk to who my be related to this quest. So either the inaccessible guy is who I should talk to, the person I need to talk to failed to spawn when I accepted the quest, or I'm being giving wrong instructions in the text as to where I'm supposed to go.
  16. If there are a bunch of guards searching around that you have to avoid, then you need to find where you hid the laser. If not, then you still need to hide it and go back to your cell to trigger the next events.
  17. No wonder I couldn't figure out what to do next with that quest. The web is still blocking part of the cave. I did get 2 gems after 2 tough battles, but I didn't need rock climb to get at them, I climbed a ladder, found a tiny ledge by a small lake, surfed the lake and found the aforementioned tough battles. I guess I have other things I need to do first before the rest of the quest properly unlocks then. Thanks for your help.
  18. I'm really loving this game but I'm coming across an issue with picking up a lot of sidequests and main story quests, many of which are going to take a while to complete and I'll probably forget what I've triggered and specific instructions I've gotten by the time I can get through them all. What would really be helpful, and which I haven't seen any sign of in game so far, is a quest log that shows me what my active quests are and what my next steps are towards completing them, as well as what steps I've already done. After a while it gets hard to remember every little thing I need to do to finish each quest off and what I have or have not yet done. Especially if I'm coming back to this game after a gap in playing it.
  19. That's probably why you're having so much trouble now. Most of what you need to do in there is given in the dialogues. Did you get past the part where Saki made the laser cutter? If not then you need to go see her in her cell. If you have, then that would have triggered another event where you have to hide the device Saki made for you. In that case, you'd need to go get if you already hid it, or if not, then you'd need to go to the east wing, hide it somewhere and go back to your cell, which is what the dialogue tells you to do. I recommend you make sure you read all dialogues carefully, many are just flavour text, but some tell you what you need to do next and if you skip past it you'll get stuck.
  20. I'm at Amethyst cave and after returning to the mainland to look for Crawli and did a search of some side passages I couldn't reach before and found a guy from Team Xen inside one of them who said he got kicked out after I beat him at one of their bases and then he asked for my help to find his mother's grave. He said something about needing 2 gems which I found further along in that same side cave but can't find anything to do with them, or find them in my inventory. I also can't find any clues in game as to what I'm supposed to do next. I tried looking in the Grotto where I found the soul stone earlier in the game, and found a huge door at the end of a long stream, but can't find any way of getting past that door or anything that new activates when I click on it for this quest. If anyone could give me some clues as to what I'm supposed to do next I'd really appreciate it.
  21. You don't need the defillibrator there. You should have some sort of improvised laser cutting tool, which you would have had to hide just before a prisoner search. you would have to go back to where you hid it and retrieve it before you can give it to Braixen.
