Sign-ups for Stranded: A Mafia Game are still open. For more details, check this thread out:
It's not hard to play at all even if you have no experience. I'll be guiding you along the way. It will be fun ~

Finished Danganronpa's Anime version earlier. It was quite enjoyable with its rather twisted plot, but it was still quite sad though with all those deaths and I especially got sad for Maizono, Fujisaki, and Ishimaru. Still it was real fun and I'm interested in trying out the game sometime.

So, at that time, 2:30 AM, it was already sunrise? How early....
Well, the honor roll system used to be full academics for most of the year levels while it only was split to the deportment/extracurricular/academics grouping for the final 2 years of elementary and final year of high school. For the record, high school in the Philippines used to be strictly 4 years (no middle school/ junior high school and senior high school for that matter). Our country only added 11th Grade and 12th Grade last school year (shocking, I know), but it's still different from other countries since junior high is 7th Grade to 10th Grade while senior high is 11th Grade to 12th Grade.
Aside from that drastic chance to the school system, the honor roll system became like I told you, as mandated by the Department of Education, 70% academics/grades, 20% extracurricular activities, and 10% deportment/behavior. This means that even if you're the one who has the highest grade in the year, you won't be the Top 1 if you don't have enough extracurricular points (points are assigned for every extracurricular activity you participate in, decided by each school's board) and if your behavior/deportment in school isn't good as well. This now goes for all years in high school, but I'm not updated on whether this is present in elementary or in other schools, however.
Academic Ranking is important for various matters. First and foremost, the Top Three in every level in our school gets a discount from tuition. The Top 1 gets 100% free tuition, the Top 2 gets 50%, and the Top 3 gets 25%, and considering that tuition in my school is now at 50,000 pesos (it used to be around 25,000 years ago, however, inflation every year causes this tuition to rise). Second, ranking is often times helpful for jobs since companies often give higher priorities to those who had higher grades in school (sad reality, I know). As for the other reasons, they're mostly personal, such as respect from peers, satisfaction of parent's expectations, and other reasons you can think off.
And connecting it to myself, I had to participate in Debate and Scrabble for the sake of getting points for extracurricular activities. Sure, I enjoy both as I've been playing Scrabble for 10 years, I think, while I've only joined Debate this summer, but it's kind of fun. Still, I need to participate in both and other activities on campus such as quiz bowls for the sake of keeping my rank. Believe it or not, I've managed to pull off getting the Top 1 rank since 1st grade, and despite me not exactly 'wanting' it, I had to keep it up for a lot of reasons (I'll tell you if you ask). Now, that I'm entering 10th grade in 12 days, I have to do well since 10th grade is the official last year for junior high and I can't just break my record, can I? So, even if it's exhausting, I try to balance academics and personal entertainment, at least until I graduate from school. -
No, sunrise is still around 4:30 in summer. But civil twilight (ie. when sun is just bellow the horizon and it's no longer pitch black outside) is around 3 'o' clock. Birds get up around this time.
And 50k Pesos is certainly a lot if the average income is 264k. It imagine it must be be difficult for most families to afford education, since the average family has 3 kids?
And it's certainly a fascinating system you have. You make it sound as if everyone knows their personal ranking in the school? Over here we don't really have academic rankings, as grades are private. It's generally inappropriate to ask others about their grades, unless you're close friends with them, but even then, people seldom ask. Your final average through which you apply to university is purely based on your grades. We naturally get grades for both exams and how well we do in class, but a lot of people don't actually bother to participate much in class since if they are good at a subject, and just tend to play games or surf the internet, though it's generally required to participate actively in class to get a top grade, I've seen people get the highest grade with minimal participation in class since the teacher knows the student knows the subject and could answer any given question if asked, were they to participate in class and they do well on assignments.
Also due to regular and higher education being free, children aren't normally expected to get high grades by their parents, since most people know what they want to do in the future, and just strive to get a good enough grade to enter said education. Whether this is good or bad I'm not entirely certain. Though I do certainly admire how dedicated students are in China and Japan, from what I've read despite how strict their system is.
And you say that there was another reason besides the monetary incentive for you to do well in school? I'd love to know, if you're comfortable with sharing it.

Quick update: Some changes have been applied to the roles and player naximum of Stranded: A Mafia Game. 5 more players to go. Check it out at
Roles may potentially be assigned around 12 hours from now and Night Zero will begin soon afterwards.

It will begin once the roster of 15 is accomplished and roles are distributed by me. It will last for at least a week until a side wins (refer to win conditions). Don't worry; you don't need to be active for long hours. As long as you do your role in both Day and Night phase, you'll be fine. Each phase lasts at least 24 hours with Day Phase having 48 hours and Night having 24 (extensions may be given however), so you can pop in any time to accomplish your role.
