  1. Apophyll is look fantastic! And clean! Praise be to a fixed WTC? Anyways, can't wait to see the new field effect. I wonder if I'll be able to take advantage of it with my current team. Or you know, knowing my luck, it's just gonna be the antithesis of everything good and pure in the universe. As you do.
  2. I have to imagine that it's been a fairly decent amount of time before an up and coming trainer has come from OUTSIDE of the Reborn region. Both Cain and Victoria both reside from various places inside of Reborn, and ergo will have had some sort of history with Fern one way or another, be it through Onyx Academy or jsut general passings by. So when he sees this new upstart show up, and pretty much IMMEDIATELY one up him, it feels to me it set off a switch in him. Fern obviously has SOMETHING he wants to prove, for whatever reason, be it arrogance, pride, or some other such nonsense. He probably sees this "fresh meat" as a way to assert dominance, and yet you keep beating his ass into the ground(as he rightly deserves I might add), he grows increasingly more and more angry and of putting. Compare the team up in the...Mosswater? I forget which one-Factory vs the encounter after Corey's death. In the Factory, he's condescending and rude, yes, but overall he's cooperative and helpful. When you meet him on the bridge, it's after two defeats: In front of the wrong Factory and then after he tried to stop you from fighting Florinia out of some twisted version of familial pride. Now, you're starting to get under his nerves, you've started to show him that maybe he isn't all that, that sometimes random strangers are gonna be able to put you down. And I think that really starts to set him off even more. He's clearly got a superiority complex of some sort, and with you CONSTANTLY upstaging him, it's bound to cause some animosity. Or you know, I could be talking completely out of my ass and Fern's just a huge dickweed and needs to be put in the ground. You know, as you do.
  3. Swanna is actually quite deadly if you set it up right. As St3ffo said, in the Rain, you have 100% accurate STAB Hurricane, access to Hydration, STAB + Rain Boosted water moves...Sure, it's not fantastic, but don't underestimate the nonsense Swanna can pull off. Not only that, but it learns Roost naturally! That's a pretty big checkmark in my book. Crobat to me outside of Mono Poison/Breeding is incredibly medicore. Your best Flying STAB is Air Slash, and that's not using your best stat, Cross Poison is relearn only, and Brave Bird is an egg move. On the other hand, it has quite a bit of utility in terms of Poison Fang for the chance of Badly Poisoned,. the fastest non-priority Confuse Ray in the game, and access to Rain Dance via TM(Praise be to Crobat the Charlotte neuterer in Mono Poison). As for other things, definitely replace Emolga with Magneton/zone when you get the chance. Magnezone is approaching...soonish, but Magneton is solid in the meantime. Analytic hurts! As you also mentioned, Mawile can be a pain in the ass to retrain, but if you have a Sheer Force Mawile, absolutely go for it. Since the switchover to ORAS learnsets, you're actually REALLY close to Play Rough/Iron Head naturally. If you're willing to go to Level 45 for Iron Head, you can relearn Play Rough, or just tank it out till level 49. And if you're Level 37+, you have Sucker Punch, which is HUGE. It's a bit sad that you can't get Swords Dance onto it yet, but boy howdy, when you can, I will personally be trying to use Mawile. Anyways, cheers! EDIT: Changed the stuff on Mawile since I remembered we're on ORAS movesets now. Thank you based Amethyst for blessing Mawile and other Pokemon with better level ups.
  4. Well, some people have already suggested nabbing Crunch on Growlithe at level 39, and that's definitely a start. I'd suggest replacing Gothorita with Crogunk once you grind it up, especially considering how badly Shade eats it alive. Tynamo also evolves at Level 39, so that's another benchmark. As for Empoleon, sadly(and I found this out on my first playthrough since it'd been a while since I used the penguin in game)....it's natural movepool is kind of meh. It definitely shines later when you get Surf/Grass Knot, but the struggle is definitely real until then. Also, I would recommend you bring Swalot, but you don't have Acid Spray on it, which is a bit of a bummer. Alternatively to Croagunk, and if you want to grind a bit more, you can catch a Makuhita in the Obisidia Slums and evolve it into a Hariyama. You evolve quickly at Level 24, learn Knock Off as Makuhita at level 19, and are in general a very fat and annoying Pokemon. Of note, a properly leveled Hariyama can take 1-3 pokemon of shade's with it if you're lucky. Guts and Thick Fat are also fantastic here. Guts neuters any status shenanigans Shade wants to pull off, and Thick Fat gives you a bit of protection against his ace. Other than that, I can also heartily make the recommendation of catching a Duskull in the Power Plant itself. It's ready to evolve, and will already know Shadow Sneak by the time you catch it. You'd be surprised how badly it nails some of Shade's team.
  5. Oooooh Twinneedle looks nice! Very cool, Smeargle! Glad to hear all those animations are coming along. Can we get a quick list of favorites from each of the animators if possible? Be it favorite overall, favorite you worked on, what have you. Also glad to hear you're on the last part of the wards! Beryl seems like a nightmare to do, just with how...much there is, to be frank. If anyone's gonna knock this down in a semi-reasonable amount of time, it's gonna be you Ame. Best of luck, and may your health stay...well, healthy throughout the rest of this dev cycle!
  6. Oof, I'm sorry to hear about the health problems, Ame. I know how health problems can get in the way of things, physical or otherwise, so I wish you(and anyone else on the dev team dealing with health issues!)the best. With that said, the White Peridot theme sounds absolutely lovely! As others have said, Peridot has always been a good theme, and this is the logical next step. Keep up the good work, and get well soon!
  7. Definitely agree on that regard. People are probably dealing with school/work/various other implements of life and all that jazz. Ame did mention she was gonna pick up shifts a few pages back I believe, so there is that. The way this episode's updating has been going lately is that there's one thing, then another, and then another, and then a lull in activity as the crew deals with all their life things. Honestly, I'd prefer it this way since it gives them time to make a better quality of game. Long development times are USUALLY a sign of a team who thinks about things well. So shoutouts to the dev team for all their hard work, you guys are freakin' awesome.
  8. Man when I saw the Sun/Moon reveal that morning, after my hype calmed down and I stopped screaming externally, my prayers went out to Amethyst and the Reborn team. Godspeed you crazy bastards, for wanting to implement that. Anyways, I see we're getting close to that all important 70%, wherein we will see another Field Effect revealed. So far we got the basic Inverse Field and the Dragon's Den Field(I made a bruce lee noise because of the screenshot). I wonder what other crazy tricks Amethyst is gonna pull out of her infinite bag of pain, terror, agony, and weapons of mass essentials breaking.
  9. ohhhhhhhhhh my goodness my sides hurt after reading that. Inuki is a blessing to this community good gravy. On a more relevant note, glad to see the the mapping is coming along well enough. You seem to have a knack for that stuff, Ame. And best wishes on the pick up shifts. Those aren't fun.
  10. But how many of those bugfix showcaes would just be you screaming to the heavens that Sucker Punch is finally fixed? In all seriousness though, I'd kind of like to see a showcase of both. I distinctly remember an...interesting case of tiling in the WTC. And by tiling I mean "WHY CANI WALK THROUGH HERE THAT DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY". You all know the part. I'd love to see a bugfix showcase with snarky commentary along the lines of "So you remember this rail? Yeah we fixed it. It's no longer a ghost rail." As for the White Lapis theme, I like it quite a lot. It's got a bit of mellowness that I think we'd be glad to have considering how...hectic, Reborn City has been this entire time.
  11. To quote my favorite LPer "If you need it, and don't have it...sing a different tune." Variety is the spice of not getting horribly murdered by something random, and my general strategy in Rejuvenation is to have as many random threats as I can at my beck and call should a boss fight prove a bit too challenging for my current setup. Under the spoilers are all my team members in groups of six, not necessarily teams, per se. I'm still saddened by the lack of Milotic. I need more bulky waters Jan. I must complete the horrid trio of Empoleon/Swampert/Milotic. AKA The UU Underwater Brigade. And I even got the danged Shadow Feebas. Slight Edit: Forgot to mention that Cofagrigus and Sandslash are shiny.
  12. Ayyyye! Looking good there. So glad to see the quality has been kept. Can't wait for stuff like Sucker Punch(and for adding an animation to inevitably break that move. Again. Why does essentials hate Sucker Punch?)and for me personally, I REALLY wanna see what animations for Leaf Storm and Scald end up looking like. Two of my favorite moves there.
  13. Oh man that rebuilt Peridot looks REALLY nice! Loving the color scheme. Also, I can't wait for Super Scaffolding Adventure 2: Battle, where the Reborn Protagonist has to...well..make an escape from the city. ...OKAY PUT YOUR TOMATOES AWAY I KNOW THAT WAS TERRIBLE but BACK ON TOPIC, I definitely second the notion of some more attack animations if any are ready to be shown off. I love all the ones we've seen so far and I can't wait for more!
  14. Super Bowl Sunday, or as I like to call it "National Junk Food Day"

  15. ...Am...am I the only person who Shelly's Gym puzzle made sense to? On a more related note, I'm excited for the relationship values thing. I'm curious what they'll affect, if they're not hugely dialogue changing. Perhaps Shelly might have a Pokemon named after you at some point(though I'm guessing the coding for THAT would be hell based on name variance)if your points are high enough? Maybe some of them will give you an item or a Pokemon, I dunno there's a lot of small neat things that can happen.
  16. Oho! 51%, and as people have stated, that means it's time for FIELD EFFECT HYPE -shoots off party poppers- ...AHem. Anyways, can't wait for that! White Coral sounds fantastic, keeps the same overall kind of unsettling theme. Even though it's rebuilt, something still feels...out of place. Adrienn is probably the reason, after all, this isn't xyr time, now is it? But with all that's going down, I like the upbeat theme~
  17. Putting my Mono Poison run on slight hold because of issues. Gonna do water in the meantime

  18. I think my favorite is a series of horrid horrid puns for the Elemental Monkeys. Searing Pain for Simisear, Pour Soul for Panpour, and Sage Wisdom for Pansage.
  19. Speaking of Opal Ward in general, did you ever figure out what caused games to hang for a bit when sometimes entering Opal Ward? I vaguely remember someone saying they thought they knew what made it happen, but I don't remember at all ;w;/ EDIT: Should clarify I mean not a full hang, just the game not responding to any inputs for a time.
  20. I shaved for the first time since beginning of December. Feels hella weird

    1. Maelstrom

      Maelstrom

      Feel the breeze.

  21. A mention has been made of your Ground weakness, and I can fully recommend Ludicolo if you're willing to go back and breed for Ice Beam. On the other hand, if you want to fix up your bug coverage later in the game when it starts to matter, any of the Bug Types available in Route 1/Aventurine Woods are fantastic and I fully recommend them. Galvantula, Heracross, and Pinsir are all VERY solid, with Pinsir being the clear weakest of the three but still good enough. As for your ice coverage naturally, Mamoswine is VERY good, and you can get it pretty quickly after you evolve Swinub into Piloswine. EDIT: you will need a heart scale for Piloswine to learn Ancient Power, as a heads up.
  22. Ayyyye! I know lag is a huge issue in some areas and I'm glad to see you're making some progress there!
  23. Jeez, has it already been a year since I joined this forum? Wow. Lots of frustration, realizations, and overall fun with this game have kept me coming back for more and more, and it's not even finished yet! The community, as infrequently as I tend to interact with it, is lovely and I have to say that of all the forums for games I've visited, this one is one of the best simply because of the community. Keep up the fantastic work, Amethyst, and here's to a WONDERFUL 2016!
  24. The last part is actually a question I was going to ask, so seconded there. As for a question of my own, what was the inspiration for Team Meteor? We know the Gym Leaders are based off the original Reborn League, but what of the Antagonists of our story?
  25. Well, given that you got Torchic and are planning to raise a Gardevoir, that's already some pretty amazing coverage from natural movesets. Unfortunately, it also leaves you a bit weak to a strong Flying type. With Blaziken and Gardevoir, I can safely recommend my pet rock friend Golem. Good natural learnset, great bulk, and typing that is EASY to cover the weaknesses of. You already have fighting covered in Gardevoir, Grass in Blaziken, and Water is pretty easily covered by 95% of water Types. Which, if you'd like my recommendation, go for something that resists Ground, like Swanna or Ludicolo. Swanna, I might add, also has some REALLY good synergy with Golem, so go for it!
