  1. I'd question how someone completely tells a personality apart by just looking at their eyes - Specially when a smart person, especially a good schemer, would make it a point not to have a suspicious expression on, but I'm going to wait and see how this plays out.
  2. yes, very constructive comments all around Well, okay, since there are people interested, I'm going to go about adding more information right about now.
  3. Technically, Gaelach Basm hasn't faded yet; It's going to come back eventually, as it is a story worth telling. That said, the reason why it faded was because it was envisioned as a short concept to be played during my two weeks vacation time. When these two weeks ended, we weren't even past the game's introduction.. So I was left with three stories to manage and zero time in my hands. This time around, I'm starting this RP in a period where I know work won't be as much as a bother, and we'll be sticking to a single party, so making one or two posts every couple of days won't be as difficult. I also have progressively hyped myself more for this storyline, and I'm hoping to have it come full-circle with a reboot of GBasm if it goes well, so, I'm also hoping it doesn't fade.
  4. While I won't expose my actual opinion on this, I'll say that even if there are plans for anything of that sort, it's preferable that we don't commit to any statements we might have to draw back on later. (I.E. "We'll add the system!" and then it doesn't get added, or "We won't add the system!" and then it gets added.)
  5. Signups Setting: I'll be adding more to this as I think of more stuff, since I'm mostly writing it as I go along.
  6. Definitely not using Tharja, regardless of whether or not she has the best tights in the army. The houndoom one is cool, though.
  7. There wasn't much other place for Matthew to end up in unless you consider being a paragon of hedonism enough to merit a place in the "body" archetype.
  8. Matthew chuckled heartily, shooting the Lord of Sorrows an incredulous look mixed with amusement and an odd sense of satisfaction. Still laughing softly, the man removed a skin from his pouch and uncorked it, the foul stench of stale rum and lime flooded the air as he took a large swig. Rubbing the remnants off his mouth with his sleeve, Matthew glanced up to the Lord of Sorrows. "Aye, aye! Aye can' begin to understand how ye fancy spell could figure a man like meself ta be focused on the mind, but ah guess ah'm a pretty smart lad now, ain' aye?" He chuckled again, turned to his servant. "Take me to mah cabin then, my lad! Aye gotta wait eagerly for my fellow mind-mateys!" Giving another chuckle, Matthew followed the man to his room, his expression as joyful as one could be.
  9. Matthew observed the scene silently. Was the man a fool, or was he trying to lower the guard of his enemies by acting like one? Either way, he had to be observed. If he was merely a fool, he could be exploited. If he was not, then perhaps he could be manipulated, or become a potential ally. The pirate lord smiled to himself. This was a very deceptive game. He'd wager the "clash of fates" had already begun; From the moment they stepped foot into this room, they created impressions that would certainly shape how they were seen in the tactics of their enemies. If the Bard was considered a fool, he would be discredited as one, but he could also become a target. Matthew wondered if he should case a similar scene, but opted against it; Should he be placed in a team, he needed them to trust him so that his plans would work; If they saw him as a fool, they'd brush him off. So he simply kept his watch, silently taking mental notes of all he could observe within the room.
  10. The way the new weather system works, manipulating it is as "simple" as identifying what pattern you're on, figuring out on which block of said pattern you are, calculating how many hours you can jump ahead to get to the weather you want. Oh, but if you overshoot it, the countermeasures I put in place will recalculate the entire weather pattern and you'll have to start over again. Oops. There may or may not be other functionalities added. Some are small, and I've only mentioned them briefly in showdown. Others are larger and may warrant posts of their own. Notice I'm using may a lot. If you think the reason for that is because I'm trying to hint that the release date for E16 is may 2016, you're absolutely correct (No, no you aren't. Why would you be? Geez) There are a lot of things planned, and while we intend to add all of them at some point, there's no guarantee that point will be E16. If they are added by then, though, I may let you know with another one of these.
  11. "Hah! No." Kurotsune, in real life, upon seeing this. 07/03/2015 20:56
  12. Matthew's paid attention, but it's not like he knows about that. He'd just assume they're acquaintances, or the person waving is particularly personable.
  13. I still remain mostly at port, if I recall correctly.
  14. As Matthew arrived to the scene, he took a moment to take notice of all who had arrived before him. He took a moment to observe each of them carefully as he made his way to his seat. Too many people for an all-out melee. A tournament, or we will be divided into teams. Question is, do I get to choose? As the thoughts ran through the pirate's mind, he sat himself down onto a chair at the back end of the room, and continued to observe those who entered and moved about. He recognized that some of those enemies could be easily beaten; Others, not so much. Tactics would play a vital role in this. And an idiot doesn't get to be called a pirate lord. Or at least this idiot didn't get the title by being brainless. He would have to come up with something, and he'd have to succeed. There was no greater cause to win here, merely salvation or non. Thus, there was no reason for Matthew to worry about playing by the rules; It didn't matter whether they were split into teams or fought alone, he had a plan rolling around his mind already, though the explanation of the events may grow to hinder or assist with it. But now, all there was to do, was to wait.
  15. 0/10 should be in wasteland would not vote again (Void is cooler)
  16. I've given this a surprising amount of thought. A few of these I'm not too sure about, a few I'm certain of. The songs I've picked below were chosen for a multitude of reasons. It was either the lyrics themselves, or the song's beat, or the reason behind why the song was made. Either way, they were chosen because it's a song I best parallel to the personality of the person in question, or what I perceive to be part of their perception of themselves. I won't say why I think the song reminds me of that person, but I'm curious as to why the persons themselves think I do. So if you're willing to discuss that, hit me up. Some of these are deceptively obvious. They are probably not going to be for the reason you initially think they are. Maelstrom: Arkhidon Pyon Pyon Kyuu Jericho Amethyst Hilda LidaRose I'll add more later.
  17. My mind's telling me no. BUT MY BOOOODY MY BOOOODY IS TELLING ME YEEEEES ...Literally only Amethyst will understand why I said this. Anyway, yes. TVs should work.
  18. I'm willing to get a new theme.
  19. To note: While there isn't much more to say about this, I figured I'd let you in on some of the more interesting additions of episode 16 as I get around to them. I can safely say that, among other things, E16 will be a game changing episode. A lot of new systems are planned to be added around that time, and although I can make no guarantees all of them will make it in on release, I can safely say that there's a lot to look forward to in the next months. And so, whenever I get finish fully implementing - or at least implementing enough to be confident it'll be there on release - any new features, I figure I might make one of these explaining to you what it does. I hope this wets your appetite! Introducing Weather 2.0! In Episode 16, we've decided to add a re-imagining of the current weather system, with the idea of reducing the lag the system caused, as well as making it more dynamic by making it easier for us to manipulate it, and solving a few of the most common issues with the older system. There isn't a lot to talk about technically, so I'll feed you the mechanics goodies right away: 1 -> There are now six different weather archetypes that the game will choose from randomly. Every five days*, the game will choose one out of six weather archetypes that will determine the weather for the next five days. The weathers are composed of 15 blocks of different weather, each lasting 8 hours, per archetype. to aid in creating the illusion that Reborn is a living, breathing world, the weather is aligned with your system's own time, so if you stop playing during a monsoon season and come back a week later, the weather might be sunny. And that also means you might've made Julia wait in front of the factory, in the rain, for a week. You monster. The weather archetypes won't be described in detail, but given their names, they can easily be surmised. Those are as follows: 1- Dry spell 2- High winds 3- Scattered showers 4- Rainy 5- Heavy storm 6- Variety So let's say you start playing and the game chooses a dry spell. For the next eight hours, you'll have no weather - If you were to stop playing and come back the next day, 24 hours later, the weather would be sunny. If you were to drop the game for a couple of days after that, you'd get a small intensity of rain for a couple of hours before it disappearing. That way the system will be more consistent in the ways it displays weather. * As a side note, I've fixed the bug where if you fast-forward your clock to manipulate the weather you'll be stuck in that new weather until you reach the date you've fast-fowarded to. No more being stuck in a season for 25 years! 2 -> Region affects the weather. It rains a little bit less in Apophyll, and while you may get sandstorms in the desert, you're obviously not going to get them in Reborn City. The new system takes your location in the world map in consideration when calculating the weather intensity and duration, as well as whatever weather is displayed. 3 -> Everything's in the code This is not insomuch a mechanic as it is an improvement to the overall structure of the game. The entire weather system has been moved to being controlled by events to being controlled by code, making the events unnecessary. Thanks to this, we're able to reduce lag, which should overall contribute to a smoother gameplay experience. Ideally, we're looking into ways to further optimize the code, with the intention of making the weather cause as little impact in performance as it can. 4 -> Dynamically changing weather intensity As the week progresses, rains may become more intense, or softer. The sunlight might weaken as clouds begin to form, and a rain may start slowly and build into a downpour, or do the opposite. THe new system will dynamically adjust the weather intensity to account for realistic changes in weather - So there won't be any transitions from really sunny to stormy, but rather the weather will periodically adjust itself to slowly fade into the new weather. 5 -> Consistent weather throughout the regions. If it's sunny in apophyll, next time you visit Apophyll, it'll be sunny - As long as the weather hasn't changed yet. However, it might still be windy in reborn. Or raining in Carnelia. The weather is calculated and stored for the region you're currently located in, and will remain consistent with the rest of the world, each region having it's own separate weather. Have fun!
  20. Honestly I just really wanted to use the "defeating a god with your dick and some thread" bit Side note: Unless you mean that when each of they spun, they did so so fiercely that they dug a hole straight into Tartarus itself, you probably mean "heel" there. Only correcting you because that one actually made me giggle. Oh, the imagery.
  21. I mean, how else would you expect a "Kurotsune" to look like?
  22. A small side note, though I don't think it has been or will be an issue. To those who've not yet noticed, my writing style tends to be a mixture of narration with character thought peppered in. The idea is to blur the line between what I'm describing and what the character is thinking, to try to give you their perception of the surroundings. While actions are described realistically, everything he sees, hears, thinks or otherwise is filtered through him first before reaching the page. That said, don't take most of what Matthew thinks seriously from an OOC perspective. If I write that he could kill a god with naught but his phallus and a piece of twine, I'd most certainly be lying. Since he is an arrogant fellow, he tends to overestimate his own abilities.
  23. Matthew sat in the room for what felt like hours. Then days. Then months. Then years. Did time truly pass oddly in this place, or was his infamous boredom simply making him lose track of it? In fact, how much time had passed since he had died? As these questions prodded at the back of his mind, Matthew attempted to brush them aside. The pirate sat in quiet contemplation of the events that had followed. In life, he had always sought the easy way out. The escape, the way that required "a special touch". That's not to say he was a coward - If there's one thing Matthew Corwil was not, was a coward. But he wasn't an idiot either. Lords and gods be damned, if he was to live again, he had to win this. And if he had to win this, then may the odds be stacked in his favor. With the silent contemplation worthy of a strategic mastermind, Matthew began drawing scenarios in his mind. Of who he might face, of how he might react. Several things started rushing through his mind at once. Would there be several battles, or simply a gigantic melee? If there were to be several battles, then that worked to his advantage. Time to study his foes. Time to replenish the poison in his sword. Time to create strategies. If it was a single melee, then his best bet would be to just let them kill themselves first. If he could keep himself pristine - even against several opponents - he was confident in his ability to win. As long as it's three or four, it should be fine. Four weakened opponents would have difficulty bringing him down. He wouldn't. He would outsmart them. Outmaneuver them. As they tired from battle, he'd reposition and strike from the shadows. He'd win. He'd live. The problem, he realized, would be in the case that teams were involved. Were he to be paired up with weaklings, then they would drag him down and surely to his defeat. However, were he to be paired with strong heroes, then what if only one person can claim the prize? The members of his team would have to battle amongst themselves. He'd have had time to study them, of course, but if one were to assume just one among his team to be his equal... To have studied him just as much... Then he would certainly become a target. And that would be a problem. The torrential flood of thoughts that assaulted Matthew's mind constantly where brought to an abrupt stop as a new servant presented itself, parchment in hand, telling the man he had to sign to continue. Matthew didn't bother reading - The terms were simple enough for him. Win and live. Die and disappear. Disagree with the terms and disappear. It doesn't matter what's written there. Anyone would sign it. And then it struck him. Anyone would sign it. Maybe others didn't give the parchment much thought, maybe there was something here to exploit, to take advantage of. He carefully studied the paper, asking the servant for a second as he read each line several times. Nothing. He signed the paper with a sigh. Guess it's time to improvise.
