  1. I would say that approximately 50% of the music has been changed. The music in most environments is the same, but the music in battles has been changed significantly.
  2. Yes, some obtainable Pokemon have been axed, and replaced with others. I won't delve into which have been replaced. The manor will have a small handful of upgrades in E5, but nothing extravagant. I suspect that the whole manor system will change dramatically in the future, particularly in E6. Thanks! For now, we won't be accepting new ideas for custom mega evolutions. We want to be really careful with how we put custom megas into the game. I want them to feel authentic, and not out of place. For this reason, we're being very cautious in our approach as to how they are implemented. We have a small catalogue of mega evolutions in the works, but we'd prefer to keep it small.
  3. Mine has to be Jarred Garret. Even though his type of character isn't particularly unique (rowdy, hotheaded, charismatic, optimistic etc.), he's a character that I've had loads of fun with, and have really enjoyed writing.
  4. Thanks for the question! We won't be adding difficulty options in E5, nor are there any planned for the near future. That being said, Desolation has undergone extensive balancing, courtesy of Posty, which has hopefully removed most of the 'ass-kicking' dished up by opponents like Tristan. The most unfairly challenging battles have been nerfed. That being said, some of the easier battles have also been made more challenging. While we want Desolation to be fairly challenging, we don't want it to be absolutely gruelling.
  5. No. Side quests involving legendaries will typically occur later down the track (especially later than 7 badges).
  6. These are the real Q's The answer is Ruby, unless Posty betrays her at the last moment. I'd be disqualified for literally disappearing into thin air.
  7. Hi everyone! Here are some of my answers to the frequently asked questions regarding Desolation. Q: Have you updated the game to Gen 8? A: EP6 will include Gen 8. EP5 does not have Gen 8. Q: Hey, what's up with altering old content? A: Firstly, my philosophy around remaking early game content is similar to how I approach life in general, and my work as a junior doctor in a large city hospital - I don't like wasting time - whether it be my own time or others. As a result, there are two rules I wish to follow: Q: Will there be more large remakes in the future? A: No. Of course, there will be some fine-tuning, etc. that is present in each episode, but there will be no more significant changes. As I said, I only want to do something like this ONCE. Q: Should I restart my save from scratch? A: My number one goal was to not waste the player's time. This means that you DO NOT need to restart your save from scratch. There have been significant changes in the story and how characters go from A to B, but the end result is the same. This means that you are not at a disadvantage if you do not restart. That being said, if you were looking to start again, this would be the time to do it as I have no intention of making any more large-scale remakes (EP6). Q: What's going on with the Gym Leaders? A: Yes, you may have heard that the Gym Leader count has been reduced from 16 to 12. I made this decision as I really wanted to reward the player for building a relationship with the Gym Leaders, and give more time for them to develop and be a part of the overall story, as opposed to having their own short segments. Furthermore, with the story that I originally planned out, 16 Gym Leaders is far too many. While I enjoy the complexity of the story, I don't want it to be pointlessly convoluted just to allow for the inclusion of more Gym Leaders. Long story short, the number of Gym Leaders has changed to match the story, rather than the story changing to match the Gym Leaders. It wasn't difficult to make this adjustment, as there were a handful of Gym Leaders that had only made it as far as concept art and a general personality. Q: Should I wait until the game is fully released to play? A: This is up to you, but I believe that equal enjoyment comes from playing the game episodically or continuously. I write episodes to be fairly standalone (while still contributing to the overall plot) so that each episode feels fun and unique. Furthermore, Desolation is planned to be ten episodes in total - so it would be a LONG time until the full release. For me, creating Desolation is a journey that I would very much like others to undertake with me! Q: How many episodes will there be? A: While I have the overall story fleshed out, I never know exactly when I want to end an individual episode. As many of you will know, I've deviated from ending an episode at the end of a Gym, which makes answering this question particularly difficult. Since the episodes are based around a particularly part of the story, their length is inconsistent, which makes this estimation even more difficult.. For example, episode's 3 and 5 are much longer than all other episodes. As mentioned above, Desolation is planned to be ten episodes in total. Q: Will there be an obtainable list? A: Yes. Look in the Manor tab of this club. Q: PBS? A: The PBS can be found on game's main page with the other download links. EP6 will not have a PBS since that's not how the engine works anymore. Thanks again for all the support you guys have given this project! I'm super excited to see where it goes in the future. Caz

  11. Desolation isn't dead. However, that doesn't necessarily mean I have good news either. I made the developers mistake of promising a deadline that was impossible for me to meet and for that, I'm incredibly sorry. I made this post to confirm a few things: 1) The fans here are truly incredible. The knowledge that my fan game hasn't died yet is truly humbling. I owe it to everyone here to give the best possible experience for the next Episode. 2) Yes, I said, "next Episode" which means Desolation isn't dead - it's coming (slowly). 3) University is rough - med school doesn't really give you any free time here, that is where my lack of time comes from. I'm still working on the game. I will make further updates when things are coming up, otherwise, I won't really be on this forum too often. Thanks again for the continued support. This fanbase is incredible - the attitude from the fans here really inspires me to keep going with this project
  12. Surprise, surprise. I'm not actually dead, and neither is Desolation. The support this game has got in my verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry long absence is actually amazing, no less than inspiring. Here's a nice update for everyone in the meantime. Thing's have been intense since I left and I haven't had any time to work on the game whatsoever beyond story design. It's a shame, I know. However, I haveeee planned ahead to make sure the game can make a (not so swift) return. I will spell it that out in big bold letters: POKEMON DESOLATION WILL BE RETURNING WITH EPISODE 5 FEBRUARY 23018 Umm... yeah. I'm not any less busy than I was before and I've missed a heap of the thread. I'll attempt to catch up over the next day or so before I disappear again. Once again, thanks for the huge amount of support. It's amazing that the game remained at the top of the expose.
  13. Caged room in the back of the Cellia power plant.
  14. Yes. Any more would be spoiler material.
  15. Sorry about my fumble earlier - both links are back up.
  16. No, I didn't. I'm in the middle of moving, there was lots of rushing. Thanks for pointing this out. Hopefully people realized I had made a mistake and didn't take advantage of it. If they did, however, they can enjoy reaping the editor privileges of my silly mistake. A fixed upload is in progress.
  17. Final Build of Desolation - 4.1.1 I'm super busy now so I have to rush this out. This is the final build of the game until Episode 5 comes out. Please update to this final build as soon as possible, as it fixes almost all issues within the game.
  18. Metal Coat axed in Episode 5 lolololol. Interesting to hear your thoughts, I actually agree with everything you've said. As for your questions, in order: 1: N - later episode. 2: Which one? The one on the very peak - Y. The one with people outside it - N. 3: N - later episode. 4: N - lol.
  19. There is a bug, yes. I haven't written it down mostly because the final build of the Episode is dropping tomorrow, which I believe fixes that problem and others.
  20. John Cena Remix Feeling - Broken Soul Sneasel: Trade a Scyther with an NPC on the Cellia Docks.
  21. If you check the original post - it's a bug. The final build for this Episode will drop tomorrow probably and that'll fix it, so there's no need to worry too much.
  22. Electirizer and Prism Scale are both at the Cellia Trainer Emporium.
